Eleven people viewed but no one here. It's a Monday though so everyone is busy.
DHdecided to order the parts for the sink online so we didn't go out after all which is good because it's so hot. I can make do until we get parts and get the work done.
I got the body of the shawl done now I have only the pockets to make and sew on. I remembered that Sunday is supposed to be my hat day and I haven't made any hats in the past week so last evening I made one. I still have that one to make that I ripped out because it was coming out huge.
Strange thing about the hat too. I used RHSS in white. It's a newer one because it has Yarnspirations on the lable so I ordered it after Red Heart joined them. This yarn has a very weird and bad feeling texture. I was going to make a baby size hat and realized that it would be way too harsh for a baby so I made it an adult size instead. It probably gets softer after washing but I won't be buying anymore RHSS if it's all like that. I have old RHSS in white and it's nothing like this one
I hope all of you are having a good day and are keeping busy doing something you enjoy not just something you're forced to do out of necessity.

I have a bag of ice on my feet and my back. Makes things a lot more tolerable! It's hot.
This morning I made a quick trip to the bank, the post office and the lab. I was back at home by ten.
The sprinklers are doing their thing! The low tonight is supposed to be 40 degrees cooler than today's high!

Oh my Sue how hot has it been where you live! A 40 degree swing is pretty dramatic. Good for you getting your errands done before it became too warm.
Ruth, I kind of wondered if you would just order the parts for the for the plumbing repair. Hope they come in quickly and you are not too inconvenienced while waiting for the repair. You had made so many hats that I thought that perhaps you might take a Sunday off from them. You have a good eye for gauge and I am sure will figure out the right size to make. Are you pleased with how the shawl is coming out? Bet DGGD will love it.
Spent a lot of time with the grandkids today- but did manage to get some time in working on my embroidery. Nice to take on a smaller project for a change. Ginny

I'm reading but not doing much sewing right now. It's "heavy trash" week here, so I'm cleaning and de-cluttering to get it all out to the curb for the pickup (we have heavy pick up once a month). I'd ordered some stretch chiffon (per the video about mask materials) from the fabric.com site and it came in, and it's the sheer stuff not what I wanted. I think I'll make a couple of kimono type sheer jackets (I don't know what to call them) out of the fabric.

Goof morning Rene- Isn’t it frustrating when you ordered something and it just did not work out to be exactly what you thought it was? Those sheer kimono type jackets are actually fashionable now- and a great idea to use up the fabric for sure!! And sometimes online reviews cannot be trusted....I tend to ignore reviews that were reimbursed by the manufacturer . Did you keep heavy trash pickup all throughout the Covid shutdown??? My area did not, but we just got notice that it will be resumed in a few weeks. Also got great news that some of the local charities are not startling to accept donations again. I have 2 boxes already to go....Hope that you are enjoying what you are reading- do you read a series, or stick with one author?? Another embroidery day for me. DGD wants an embroidered pillow case- will have to find something appropriate for her. Ginny

choney2, I'm in a dispute with an etsy seller via paypal right now over a mask I ordered my son. It had baby yoda on on the left and "too close you are" on the right (I though the kids he works with would get a kick out of it). Got the mask and it's child size and the phrase is cut off so it reads "too clo you" lol.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It's been a bit cooler here so that's been nice. Hopefully we've seen the last of the 90 degree days for this season (wishful thinking ) My lawn guy came yesterday and I was glad to have the grass cut, it was getting really high. There were still some wet spots in the yard from all the rain we've had, and it left some tracks from his lawnmower, but I'm sure the grass will grow back over it. I went out today to mail some bills and gas my car up. I also went to the grocery store. It was nice to just have a smaller order and was much less tiring. I'm probably going to start back to going more often in September, even though it's still not the most pleasant experience. I got most of what I was looking for but no ham lunch meat or paper plates. It's so strange what things are out of stock. I haven't gotten back to work on my stars quilt, just haven't been very motivated. But I hope I'll feel like it more later this week. Hope all of you are getting to do some crafting. Take care everyone!

Sue, that's a great idea to put on ice packs. I'll have to tell my dh to do that. He's more bothered with the heat than I am Rene, it's so frustrating when you receive an order and it's not right. That's happened to us a few times mostly on Amazon but all were resolved easily. Some problems in ordering online from Walmart involved sending things back and that never worked for us because they give you a return label to print out and we don't have a printer. Dh ordered some shoes much like Crocs only Fila brand and they sent him the wrong color. He let them know and they sent two more pairs also in the wrong color. All this time they told him to keep the ones he already received. Well the next time wrong color once more, another two sent so this time dh just let it go and gave one pair to dgs and the other extras to the Rescue Mission store CJ, I'm glad your lawn guy came. Soon you would have been living in a wildflower field , I think all your heat came here because we're still having close to 100 degree days but soon August will be over and here we can look forward to worrying about freezing pipes again. Ginny, it's great you got to be with the grandchildren again. You do keep busy. Did you get the laundry room done yet. Embroidery is a great craft to sit and relax with...if you know how. I don't. I think my grandmother tried to teach me but that was just all x's. I did get the body of the shawl done...I think I said that already. The pockets gave me problems because of typos and me trying to change the stitch from dc to hdc. She showed her method of sewing on pockets but in the craft groups today I saw a better way to do it so I'll go with that to sew them on. I wanted to start my other dgd's shawl but got distracted and started an earwarmer instead last evening and yet another this morning. This evening, depending on what we decide to do, I'll start the other shawl. Right now I'm trying to decide which of two patterns I want to use.

T storms today and tomorrow which may cool things down a few degrees or could start fires. Everything is very dry. Air quality affected by fires to the west. Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
It won't be long until frosty nights.
A few days ago I ordered flashlights from Amazon, and they arrived yesterday. I don't know why flashlights keep disappearing! This supply should last for a while! I'm going to think a little more seriously about getting a generator. In the meantime, there will be a flashlight in every room.

Sue, there have been fires around here but luckily they were able to get them contained rapidly. We, also, have flashlights in every room. We have a huge collection including the old school ones that take big D batteries that I doubt you can get anymore. I'd love to toss them but of course Pack Rat, aka dh, wants to keep those too.
I finished one of the earwarmers last evening and started the second pocket shawl. Hopefully I'll get to work on it today or at least this evening because tomorrow we have errands and if those water line parts arrive there goes that day. I'll be busy being a helper

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. I have flashlights all around the house too. I even have one heavy duty one that I bought at Costco that I take upstairs with me at night and bring down in the morning (yes, I'm a strange person ) We had some rain here again overnight, I just wish we could get several days in a row with no rain. At least the temperatures have stayed in the 80s. I made a small blueberry pie today and it came out pretty good. I had a pint of blueberries from my grocery shopping last week, so I needed to use them. I used on frozen pie crust and halved a recipe to fill it. I pulled away some of the crust first and the later laid it over the top of the pie, kind of like a lattice design. I used to make lots of pies, but I don't think I've ever made a blueberry one. I haven't gotten back to the Oh My Stars quilt, I've just lost interest in it, but I'll finish it up eventually. I have been looking at lots of quilting patterns on the internet and saw a few I'd like to try. So I pulled out some small pieces of fabrics and cut the pieces for the 2 blocks. I'll try to put them together soon. I figure it's better to do a test block than commit to cutting up a larger piece of fabric for a quilt I might not like. Hope you are all getting to do some crafting. Take care!

Wonder where Ginny is. She hasn't been here since yesterday morning. I hope everything is ok
I guess contacting your congressman does work....to a certain extent. Someone from the IRS called me yesterday. I missed the call because it's a cable phone so I keep it near the modem where it gets charged and I never hear it ring. He left a number though so I called there today after hearing his message. Didn't have to wait all that long but longer than I wanted to wait. Long story short they don't know why a check wasn't sent to me. The do know that none was sent. I got a different agent of course and all she had to say is give them some time to figure out why they didn't send me one. When she asked my address she said that instead of having my address start with 53 they have it as 63...how can that happen after they're sent me tax forms every year for 30 years. Maybe that's why I couldn't get info online but it's not why I didn't get a check she said.
I did get a couple rows done on this second shawl and will work on it this evening.
Ginny, they said on their very long recorded message that you're forced to listen to before you get anywhere that if you sent a paper income tax it may be six weeks before you get your return. It seems like it's been way longer for you. Have you received it yet?

CJ- glad you are starting to resume normal shopping- I think that for the most part its safe to do so. Me too- in my area there are still some items that are out of stock and make no sense. Yes the cooler temps are so very nice....think we have some heat coming back for a few days and then it gets fall like again. And you’ll be back to working on the quilt again. Sometimes its good to take a break....(I am taking a mini break now myself)
Ruth, I am interested to see which pattern you end up using for the second shawl. I know you will figure out the pockets and which is the best way to finish the shawl. Did your plumbing parts arrive? So contacting your congressman worked to get your stimulus check? I hope it works for you. No I have not gotten my refund.
Sue- a flashlight in every room is a wonderful idea. I too have wondered about getting a generator.
Worked a bit on the embroidery today again. Its a nice diversion with a smaller project instead of the huge quilt.
Have a good night all Ginny
