Google and YouTube are your friends when it comes to recipes. I haven’t bought any kind of cookbook in years.
Truth be told, I do hard boiled eggs and the occasional 3 ingredient WW bagels. My husband is really the one who is our resident air fryer specialist! I took the user /recipe guide that came with ours, 3 hole punched it and put it in a binder in the pantry. If we find a keeper recipe online, I print it out and add it to the binder
Especially when starting out, it can be a bit of trial and error, so we make notes in the binder on tweaks made to cooking times.
Also a must for us is a spray bottle for oil. We spray the basket before adding any food. And with most recipes, spray again at the flip.

Thanks Deb, plan to use air fryer this next weekend. Not sure what daughter and I will do, will post what we do. Default sounds good!🤗 The very first thing we made with ours was that Skinnytaste Chicken Parm I mentioned earlier. If you do get around to making that, we’ve learned over time that a thinner, even pounded out chicken breast works best. Have fun with it! We’ve had a few failures for sure. Like anything new, there is usually a learning curve.

I had an Insignia analog one with a square basket and it was great. Until I dropped it lol.
Now I have the PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer 5qt and I like the basket form better, but wish it was square. The basket is not 2 separate big pieces, it's 1 piece and has a little "plate" that sits in the bottom you can remove. I think it cooks more evenly than the Insignia one did, and seems to reach heat faster. They make a 7 quart version, but I didn't really think I needed one that big. Since it's only a $20 difference, I probably should have gotten it.
Kohls carries them, with their discounts, you can pick the 5qt up for $75 (there's a free shipping discount and a 30% off with your kohls charge using the code "BEAUTIFUL30" until the 27th)

Littlepioneerwoman, What about bacon in the air fryer or is it impossible because of the fat content as stated in the article Linda posted? Have you ever tried it?
Great information ladies, thanks for posting! Think about me this Sunday trying something in my air fryer with my daughter, should be interesting, will post the results or possibly a disaster. 😃.

Great information ladies, thanks for posting! Think about me this Sunday trying something in my air fryer with my daughter, should be interesting, will post the results or possibly a disaster. 😃 We did do bacon in the air fryer once and decided we didn’t care for that method. The fat wasn’t the problem. We just couldn’t do enough at once for our liking. I just fry bacon in a pan on the stove top. I found that by using a bacon press, the mess is greatly reduced. After I take the bacon out of the pan, I throw in the paper towels I’d used to drain the bacon. That easily soaks up the grease and then I just toss the towels in the trash.

DotRen, Thanks for posting the air fryer, good price, I would consider buying it if I didn't have one! My daughter and I didn't do anything in the air fryer just to busy getting work done here, I may try it out this week, will post when I do.

DebDoesWW, Thanks for the information on the insta pot lid, really cool! My DIL has an insta pot, I'm going to pass your information on to her as she may be interested in the lid as well. I can remember when I was in college in foods class each kitchen group had to make a dish in the pressure cooker and a couple of those cookers had lids come off, scared the crap out of me, haven't been a fan of them since. Aren't insta pots like a pressure cooker? What are your experiences with the insta pot and what do you make in it? My DIL made a great taco soup in her insta pot this summer, really good.

mac they are actually a pressure cooker, just with an electrical cord. The safety precautions are vastly different from the stove top versions. My favorite dish is undoubtedly pulled pork. But I make all kinds of soups, applesauce, in fact it is one of the only reasons I have FB is to look for recipes (and crochet patterns 😂) all kinds of dishes I wouldn't have even tried before. The main thing I like about it is I don't have to babysit it like I do when I put something on the stove.

DebDoesWW, Do the lids fit all the air fryer brands? Thanks for all your information on the lids! Is little pioneerwoman related to pioneerwoman?
