Ginny - I did go to the grocery store to pick up my Tracfone card this morning. You are right that all those directional arrows are a pain, almost no one (but me!) were following them. I finally gave up on some aisles where I just needed to go half way down and went the wrong way. This is hard for me to do since I'm very much a rule follower Yesterday I was trying to find the gravy mix, it's in a weird location in this store - with the canned goods instead of the spice and mixes aisle. I couldn't find it yesterday, but did today. Anyway, I thought I'd look to see if they have Thyme since your stores were out of stock - well this store did not have it either - so I guess it's something to do with producing it. Canned carrots and green beans are back in stock pretty well. Ruth - Thanks for validating me I've now spent close to an hour watching videos of quilts made with fat quarters I also finished cutting up the pieces for the Scrappy quilt along, so I'm ready for the next clue on Friday. I'll try to get you a picture of those fabrics.

Good afternoon!
Ruth, give that chicken recipe a try!!! Just please bear in mind, it was absolutely better the first day- make the rice (however you make rice) no need to use instant rice, which I never use. Did you get your meat in the crock pot?? Dd put ribs in the instant pot yesterday and was hoping to finish them off in the oven with barbecue sauce. She ended up making Swedish meatballs instead- those cooke quickly. And I am never a fan of buying beef at Walmart....prefer the other grocery stores for that.
CJ- glad you found carrots and green beans. So sorry that the cottage pattern just did not work out for you. Its a problem Ruth has had with crocheting patterns too- sometimes they just are not well tested. I agree with Ruth, move on to something else. This is supposed to be fun, not stressful. Got a question for you- I did I buy an Easy does it, 3 yard quilt book. There are 3 patterns in the book that I think would make a lovely baby quilt - but Dd wants me to make the quilt out of quilting flannel. I am going to email fabric cafe and see what they think- do you think their patterns could be made in flannel???
Kind of a quiet day....Yes when I was out this am I did find thyme - had to buy organic but its senior day so I get a little bit of a break on it G

Just got off the phone with Fabric cafe- they recommended pattern 091124- the pattern is called Sew Quick for use with flannel, and to leave out the tiny border. Think I am going to do that....now just have to find out color scheme.....and get that from Dd. www.fabricafe.com. Pattern # is 091124

I looked up the pattern...link didn't take me to it so typed it in search...and I think that will make a great baby quilt. I agree on the tiny border too. I wouldn't do that...it's too little.I see that most of the people on the crochet groups talk about the "theme" the people they make their blankets for have for their baby's room. Does your dd have a theme?
Found out that walmart gave me the wrong items yesterday. I ordered Dole Mango slices in a can and they gave me tropical fruit instead. I don't mind tropical fruit but it's mostly pineapple which you can get cheaper than the canned mango price. Yes I'm a penny pincher. I love canned mango slices strange as it may sound. I eat them on my oatmeal every morning when I have them. I emailed them to let them know and they immediately gave me a refund and told me no need to return them...told me to do whatever I like with them.I did get th4e meat in th4e slow cooker but a half hour later found out the plug somehow got pulled out. Probably when I was cleaning the counter top over there. Dh already has his plan for what he's going to eat today and the beef wasn't for today anyway so he said. I definitely will make that chicken curry recipe to eat on the same day I make it.

Ruth That’s too bad that the plug on your crockpot fell out, I hope they were able to come up with something else for dinner without having to rush. That does remind me I want to take a piece of beef out of the freezer tonight so I can put it in the crockpot tomorrow morning.I’ve never seen canned mango slices from Dole but I do buy their tropical salad and I love it!. You found the same thing that I’ve seen before with these shop from home services that they will not make you return an item if they gave you the wrong thing. Are you able to get in any crocheting time today? Yes I’m waiting for my daughter to pick her color scheme or theme or whatever she wants. I’m just happy that I have the pattern picked out so now I can shop for fabric when I do find out what color scheme she wants.
I’ve gotten a little bit of crocheting in this evening.

I did get some crocheting done.In fact yesterday morning I ripped out the 13 rows that I had done of the latest pocke shawl beccause it was too wide. I got back to that row last night but kept messing up the next rows so finally set it aside.I'll work on it today. And it's a really easy pattern but you do have to be careful with the ends of the rows.
One of my cousins (I have a lot of them but only two ever keep in touch) emailed me to send a copy of an obit for another cousin who I haven't seen nor heard anything about in probably close to 30 years. We used to be a close extended family when we were all children. It didn't give the cause of his death.
Ok since it's after 1pm and I forgot to eat I'll go and get some breakfast

Hello Everyone Ginny - Hope the day went well with the grandkids. I'm glad that Fabric Cafe was able to help you, that's a good pattern choice and I think it would be nice in flannel. Ruth - Hope you were able to make some progress on your project today. I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. It's sad that families are so spread out now and busy, and we can't always keep in touch. It seems that every time one of my older relatives passed away that I lost more contact with family, since they were the ones keeping everyone in touch. Phyl - Hope you can sleep later tomorrow. I'm glad for you that you have an appointment for the vaccine. I slept late this morning after getting up early the last 2 days to go out to the store. It was a nice sunny day here today, in the 50s. I cleared a few things from my sewing table this morning and organized some projects into plastic bags. I also pulled out the fabric for the next quilt I want to work on. It only has 2 fabrics in the quilt and should be pretty easy. I hope to finish it this month. And I pulled out a few more small quilt pieces to machine quilt from now through the end of February. I know I need to try doing some binding, but I'm being very resistant to trying. I'm going to try to push myself to at least put on one or two bindings by the end of the month. They are just small pieces so it shouldn't be that difficult. I've watched lot of videos, so I need to try it again (I have done a few before but it's been a few years). Here's a picture of the new fabric selection I'm using for the Scrappy quilt along that runs every other Friday. These are all the pieces cut out and ready to start piecing with tomorrow's clue. I had picked the black, yellow, orange and red fabric, but it was recommended that I go more scrappy. So I went through my fat quarters and found these fabrics and a wider variety of color. I'm still using the black fabric for the background. Take care everyone.

CJ, I can't wait to see the final quilt with all those beautiful fabrics! The colors and prints are really great.
Phyl, I'm glad that, since you want to get the vaccine, that you have an appointment to do that.
Ginny, I hope you had a good time with the grands today. Small children are such fun (most of the time) and infants are just so cuddly.

Good everning- Ruth, I am so very sorry to hear about your cousins passing. Will you be emailing back to determine the cause of death?? I am glad you are in contact with some of your extended family- I hope that you have fond memories of this cousin and that you can get some information.
Phyl- glad you were able to get an appointment for the vaccine- Jan 28 is just around the corner! You are quite fortunate to have been able to get in so early.
CJ- love those colors and I agree, the more colors the better in a scrappy quilt. Think you have enough different fabrics (and the black really sets the bright colors off!!) that it will be a stunning quilt. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt top for sure. Bindings are easy....really they are. I looked over the fabric cafe directions last night for bindings and they use the same “theory” as I do- if the binding will be machine finished , attach it by machine to the back, fold it over to the front and sew. If you are hand sewing it, attach to the front and hand secure to the back.
DGS was clingy today, so I had to hold him a lot. Called the facility that I am supposed to get my vaccination at, (got a group office, not the actual location) and the person I spoke with told me to expect a phone call as they are out of vaccine. I did not cancel the appointment, will see if that is indeed the case. Its just discouraging. Will make a bunch of phone calls....see what I can find out tomorrow.

Thanks for posting that picture, CJ- and you are absolutely right, it sure looks like the same quilt!! I had called fabric cafe- and that is exactly the quilt they recommended. As it works out well in flannel. Thanks for finding the picture for me!!! Think Jane is also going to use that pattern, which I will show my DD tomorrow for her final approval.
Tough day....a neighbors son (in the National Guard) was killed in a helicopter crash upstate. Really great young man- he used to play with my son when they were young.

Ginny - I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of this young man. It's so tragic when there are deaths like this. I'll keep you, your family, and his family in my thoughts. Hope everyone is doing well today. I worked on some binding today and hope to do more later. The next clue for the mystery quilt came out today so I hope to work on it. It's the no-waste flying geese method, which I don't think I've ever done, so I'll have to be careful making these. I also cut some fabric for the larger quilt top I want to make. Take care everyone
