Iâm feeling much better just have a little pain in the right upper back that I told Fred is like a toothache and very annoying. Been trying to stop icing and heat but might have to go back to doing that. I might have irritated it yesterday as I did three loads of laundry but I had to get it done.
Fred wanted to use our Olive Garden gift cards for lunch yesterday so I got the lunch portion of shrimp scampi and chicken gnocci soup. I had one bread stick and the soup for my lunch and saved the shrimp scampi for dinner. So at least no cooking for me! It amazes me the difference in price for a lunch portion vs dinner portion and the lunch portion is more than enough!
On Fridays during Lent Fred loves the McDonaldâs fish filet so he was talking about getting it tomorrow. Weâve tried the other places but they just donât hit the spot like McDonaldâs fish does. He said our church is having two fish frys during Lent and one is tomorrow but you have to make a reservation even though itâs pickup only and he missed the deadline yesterday for placing an order so that was when he said we can just get the sandwich. Mind you I have beer battered fish filets in the freezer that I bought to have for Lent but since he never asks for much whatever he wants to do is fine with me.
Our temp yesterday got near 60 so Fred took the dogs for a walk and even opened the front door so they could sit on the enclosed porch. They usually love to sit out there but since I bought the dog beds that are therapeutic they both came back in and laid on them!

Good morning
Sandy, glad youâre feeling better. Enjoy your fish filet!
Gail, how is Judy? She was in on the lovely luncheon with Ann, Vera, you and I, quite a few years ago, now!
Oops, gotta run. DSIL having an Energy Audit. BBL to tell my work mishap.

Greetings:
Sandy, I'm glad you're feeling better and the ice and heat work so well for you.
Yes, in some ways Fred reminds me of Bill. Bill doesn't often ask for anything so when he does that's what we do.
Ruth, what a nice remembrance of Vera. I pulled a recipe of hers that I haven't made for awhile. I'll post it tomorrow and then buy the ingredients to make it next week.
I haven't made meat loaf in ages. DH has been wanting meat loaf and almost bought a meat loaf and mashed potato tray at Costco the other day. Maybe I'll make meat loaf today. I don't have prunes, but I have dates. I can't remember the rest of the recipe. I guess I should check it before committing to making it! Maybe a little experimenting. He looked at the bean book on the counter and I said I hoped to find another kind of bean he liked.
Today is his painting class and we have new snow. About 5 inches out the front door. I watched the flow of this storm. It's swirling down into Texas, touching into the south and then up into Illinois. Places around here have a foot or so. The larger problem is that is was warm when the snow started so there's ice under wheels.
I spent a lot of yesterday trying to deposit checks with the bank. Not working. No one answering their 800 number. I stayed on hold for half an hour. I am not happy with this bank.
Karen E. you do make your work mistake sound intriguing.
We watched a movie on Prime last night that was pretty good. We started and stopped 2 or maybe it was 3. Then we found this one. If you haven't watched i, it's Bradley Cooper, in The Words.
Bummer. The snow is such that schools are closed and traffic accidents are happening everywhere. DH watched the local news for awhile and saw that some places have more than a foot of snow. He has decided that he'll just stay home. Safer. He's right, of course, but I wish he didn't have to miss class today. The newscasters are reminding us that we've had such a mild winter and people shouldn't complain about this snow. We need it down here for the grass, etc. In the mountains I'm sure there are multi-feet that fell.

Good Morning!
Where did this week go? I can't believe it is Thursday already! In fact, where did this month go? I can't believe February is almost over!
Today is our Zoom meeting. It is at 2 p.m. EST. Come if you can!
Karen, How frustrating about your mobile depositing. I am so dependent on mobile deposit. I don't know how I managed before it was available.

Sadly my Vera recipes are in a folder on the old laptop that wonât let me open it. Maybe I have some printed ones tucked away.
Sorry I wonât make zoom this week. Hectic here. Taking a coffee break right now.
Sharon
I found Veraâs Engagement Chicken printed out. So I am calling dibs on that recipe because itâs the only one I can access.

Good morning
Today I have no one to deal with. This handyman did a good job but his equipment was so bad that it took him forever to get the power washing done and I know it was hard to do. The time he gave me for getting here was off by hours and I was upset with that but really when he was here he did the work. With his undependable truck....ancient and really falling apart and his equipment that needed to constantly be repaired I felt bad for being angry with him about his late showing. He asked about my generator and wants to work and get paid with the generator. I don't have enough work to have him do to get what I want for it so have no plans of doing that.
My problem with mobile banking is my tremor and it kept saying the picture wasn't good. I finally gave up trying it after much frustration. I have an account at a bank that is close by so just went up there and to the drive in window. The bank I prefer is a 30 min. drive and I used to go from the line dance class because I was close to it then so now it takes a special trip and I have only been there 3 times in a year. I need to go there soon and need to set an appointment and the person I preferred has been sent to the Naples branch with the Covid problem but she did take care of my stop payment over the phone.
Today is Jeff's 56th birthday. How did I get so old to have a son that age. I can hardly remember things but I do remember that day and how scared I was. I had never even held a baby and had no experience with any child under the age of 6 and here I was absolutely terrified I was going to do everything wrong. I asked them at the hospital to show me how to bathe him and they showed me nothing so I just did the best I could. I had him by C Section so that was a problem too. But he survived a stupid mom and turned out great.
I am down to 24 items to sell on Marketplace so today I want to get the big deck box ready to list which means cleaning it out and will take some work. and then I will list some things that are in the house and not outside. They are easy to list but don't sell well at all. The two things I sold to a woman yesterday were a new springform pan and a box full of full skins of yarn. A bargain on both but they had been listed for almost 2 months and I wasn't ever planning to make a cheesecake or crochet again. I passed the $20 on to the handyman as a tip for working so hard.
Sandy Glad you are feeling better.
Sharon Glad you are now able to pack
Off to have breakfast and just leisurely get things done today.

Good morning!
Busy day today so I'm not sure if I'll make the Zoom chat.
The sun is shining and the temps will be in the mid 40s. It's a bit cooler than yesterday's high of 53 but anything above freezing is fine with me. Our snow is melting fast and should be completely gone in a day or two.
I'm planning on making the Cabbage Patch Soup recipe I posted last week for supper tonight. I'm hoping it tastes as good as I think it will.
Sandy, glad to hear you're on the mend.
Karen, I'll check out that movie. Bradley Cooper's one of my favorite actors. How much snow are you expected to get?
I'm looking forward to all of the "Vera" recipes that get posted tomorrow. She sounded like a lovely person.

Wonder if I can do zoom from my Kindle. Never tried it. It has a mic and camera although I'd have to set it on facing me. My granddaughter has my laptop and Jerry will be on his with a virtual appointment with our primary care doctor. Wish I knew a way to test it.
My girlfriend and her husband aren't doing very well. And they have to wait next week to see his doctor in order to get any answers. That would drive me bonkers. I can handle anything except the unknown. Wish I could do something to help but there's nothing except giving her a shoulder and ear. I truly know what she's going through.
Karen Jerry had a taste for meatloaf the other day so I made one. I'd love to see your recipe as mine doesn't have prunes in it.
Sandy I'm glad to hear your back is improving. Just be careful to not do to much.
Ruth congratulations on getting your vaccine appointments. I get my 2nd vaccine on March 10th. I haven't heard anything about any delay due to the delay in getting vaccine here.
KC hope Ella stays safe and avoid getting Covid. I understand that some campuses have a lot of cases.
Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning. Just finished breakfast and feeding all the critters. It was 74 yesterday and will be in mid 60s today before rain starts. Should rain until Sunday and expecting a lot of inches. I put my rain gague out to measure it. Going to Publix this morning and then sewing and mopping the kitchen. Yesterday I seemed to have no side effects, but I was super tired and slow. Didn't get anything accomplished except washed one window and made bread. Crabcakes and asparagus for dinner last night. I don't think I have any of Vera's recipes so I'll be excited to see them tomorrow.
Two things to look forward to: 1. My trip to beach for my birthday. 2. Jeanne called me this morning and wants to plan a road trip to Lake Havasu City in AZ. We figure 2 1/2 days to drive there and maybe 3 comming back. I live 3 miles from 840 and we will take that west to 40 and then Interstate 40 all the way. A side trip to the dam, grand canyon, drive thru Las Vegas and drive 70 home, probably until we can make a good connection with 24 and eventually 65 all the way home. We both live about 3 miles West of I 65. About a 12 day trip. I was thinking the fall, she is thinking May. If she's willing to go with me, I'll go wheneven. Ive always wanted to have a long road trip, but few of my friends like to be in a car. Looking forward to something really perks me up.
I made meat loaf last week and will have some that I pulled out of the freezer yesterday. Maybe a baked sweet potato with it and some squash. I'm making egg bites this afternoon with a little onion, asparagus and squash - maybe some with salsa.
Hope to see many this afternoon. I should be out on the deck!

Pat, here's my meatloaf recipe. www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/meatloaf-241512 What I consider the "secret" ingredients that make such a huge difference are the prunes and the allspice. I tend to a bit more allspice, but it's pretty powerful and we like it. Sometimes I don't put the bacon on top. Another thing I think makes a huge difference is baking it on a baking sheet and not in a loaf pan. I've also baked it on a rack in the pan so it doesn't sit in the fat. We'll have Brussels sprouts with it and DH really wants mashed potatoes. Don't have anything to make gravy with that I can think of. I may have to trudge to the grocery store! Not getting the car out yet. The street in front is pretty heavy which makes me think the depth estimate is wrong. Vicki, our snowfall is supposed to be over. We got about 5-6 inches. Further south in the city, where Bill was going, got between 12 and 18 inches. He did get a message that class was cancelled but no make up which I think is wrong, but no one asked me! Yay! the bank mobile deposit is working. Now to get my 10 checks deposited before it stops again! I should be at zoom. I may be late, but should be there unless DH gets involved with something. Engagement chicken sounds interesting, Sharon. Glad you found one. The Covid test was interesting. I'd decided I was going to do slow deep breathing and have a meditation mind-set. It went so easily and the tester was surprised, too. Janes, your handyman sounds kind of like the one we had in Tucson though ours was in a bit better shape. Your description has made me wonder how he's doing. He was just wonderful. We'd start a list of things for Mark to do and when we got several he'd swing by and look at the list and then make and appointment to do them all. And then we'd start over. Haven't found anyone here and DS does want to do things so we work with him, which is nice. But I miss Mark!

Geri, guess I read your post too fast. Thought you said you had cupcakes and asparagus for dinner.
May in Lake Havasu can be pretty hot. Fall is better weather.
Went with DH last night to get his first vaccine shot. So far he has no side effects.
The buyer for our house wants to come by today with her decorator friend to measure things. They will be leaving soon going back to Idaho for summer.
Gail, yes the ending of This Is Us left you wondering who they were going to see. I think probably Rebecca.
Jane, it was nice of you helping out the handyman. Hopefully, he will be able to get the stimulus check soon.
Carolyn

OMG... like Sharon I almost forgot the QOTD...and I even mentioned it was Thursday. LOL
Just for fun....
QOTD: TAKE THIS PERSONALITY QUIZ:
Answer the following questions honestly (and without peeking at the answer key)
Question #1: What's one animal you really like? Pick the first one that comes to mind. Now write down your answer, along with three characteristics you like about that animal. (think behaviors and attitudes over looks)
Question #2: What's another animal you really like? Again pick the first one that pops into your brain. Then write three things you like about this animal.
Finally, Question #3: What's a third animal you like--first one that comes to mind? I say third animal because if you can't think of three, what is WRONG with you?? Anyway, write down what you like about that animal, too.
ANSWER KEY:
So here's what each animal reveals about you:
1. The characteristics of the first animal is how you often present yourself out in the world.
2. The second animal's characteristics are more like how you actually are.
3. And the third animal's traits are what you want more of in your life, or more like how you want to become in your future.
Just sharing this game today reminds me that not everything has to be serious. Being present and having fun is really valuable, too.

I am in the middle of clearing out that deck box and had to stop to treat the top of both hands. Thin skin got scrapped and is bleeding. I didn't even feel it so was surprised by the blood. So taking a break after treating my hands. I still don't have everything out and after I do I will have to try to get it cleaned up. I did manage to pitch a few things but trash has already been picked up. So I will be filling an empty trash can. The potting tools I did put in the garage but they look a bit sad too but will still work and I don't do much potting but decided not to sell my plant stand so will get some soil and plant some of these pots and just keep them on the lanai. I had thought about asking $5 for the plant stand so glad I decided to keep it and make some nice pots to look at on the lanai. That stand came from Restoration Hardware in Columbus which was at a shopping center Don and I loved because it had a Container Store and a Cheesecake Factory and we would go there about once a month before we got married and he was living in Columbus. So looking at that old plant stand reminds me of how we enjoyed those shopping trips. A nice memory to think of as I cleared out that deck box. It has been 27 months since Don passed away and I find many pleasant little memories

Dog- Greyhound. I love the fact when they work they work hard but they take retirement very seriously. Thus they are called the 65 mile an hour couch potato.
Question #2: What's another animal you really like? Again pick the first one that pops into your brain. Then write three things you like about this animal.
Cat- Their laid back, independent demeanor.

Rabbit just because I think they are cute.
