cathygeha since it appears the vast majority of " the way you eat" foods are the same points on both yeah definitely go with whichever makes you most comfortable. The only time you will see a major difference is when say, a carb lover, tries to do purple. I believe each food list a has a 100 increase and a new category is added each time. Green F&V Blue F&V + Lean Protiens Purple F&V + Lean Proteins + Whole Grains That would mean one would look for where you need to spend points to choose your program. A vegetarian/vegan might do better on Purple...someone who wants more points to use on carb variety might do better on Blue. I am leaning toward Purple...might do a week or two or not bother and stay on Blue. Tomorrow is a new week...not sure WHERE the weeks go!

I am getting back in the habit of..... tracking with ITB being back to the boards
it's going to take me a few days to settle in to purple and see if the limited amount of tracking is helpful. For some reason I panic when thinking of tracking all my calories. ( This is why I always did Core)
week started Tuesday doing purple 💜 4/20 22/16 wkly 22 ap 12 4/21 17/16 wkly 21 ap 7

So far today...according to ITB and MFP
1114 calories after two meals 3/16 points eaten on Purple 11/23 points on Blue
I looked fava beans up after eating them (I think?) and though zero points they pack a wallop in calories...specially eating two cups of them (dry beans cooked from scratch)...
I may not be hungry again till tomorrow morning but...how can there be such a HUGE discrepancy between points and calories?

4/21 28PP cathygeha, lol It's a mystery to me. That does seem crazy high though. I always liked the PP formulation that each point is approximately 40 calories.

how can there be such a HUGE discrepancy between points and calories? ^this is exactly why SP is a maintenance program for so many people and why I have been suggesting for years for people to double track to get an idea of where they come out, depending on the way they eat, just so they can see how certain foods can swing the points in certain directions.

I think I am going to check out the weights for the year...have the journal so can look back all the way to when I started this on conquer cravings in May of 2020. I will see when I had good losses and when those stopped. I may return with a new list to share...we shall see
Back again...It seems I started with conquer cravings on ITB - did two weeks of carb conscious, went to Core for a month or more then back to Conquer cravings till the end of the year and all of January. I started BLUE on Feb 4, 2021 not feeling I was losing so gave it a try.
2020 202.4 May 16
195.2 June 16
190.6 July 16
184.6 August 16
181 September 16
177 October 16
179 November 16 174 December 16
2021 173 January 16
170.4 February 16
168.4 March 16
167.4 April 16
More detailed dates and programs being used...moved it here because after looking at monthly intervals do see a positive trend most months
My takeaway is that MAYBE it is better to choose one program and just stick with it BUT which program
202.4 May 16, 2020 (Conquer Cravings) 195.2 June 16, 2020 193.8 June 30, 2020 196 July 1, 2020 (started Carb Conscious) 190.6 July 16, 2020 (started back on conquer cravings) 189.4 July 31, 2020 189.4 August 1, 2020 (started Core) 185.4 September 1, 2020 183.2 September 11, 2020 (back on Conquer Cravings) 180.2 October 1, 2020 178 October 24, 2020 (back to Core for about a week) 177 November 2, 2020 (back to conquer cravings) 176.6 December 1, 2020 (a lot of moving between the two in the last two months of the year it seems) 175.4 December 31

Definitely a program you'd be comfortable with for the long haul. Amazing record keeping Cathy - perfect for observing the trends. You've really done a great job!

cathygeha I lost a lot of weight on WW. I lost a little over 100 pounds on carb conscious(PP) and the rest on green or smart points as it was called back then. I hated it when they changed programs and I changed more or less kicking and screaming. The first month I gained 2 out of 4 weeks. I finally embraced it and made goal on green. I have never done anything on blue except for maintain. I am a carb lover and don't eat many whole grains so I could never do purple. On ITB I do carb conscious and double track with calories on MFP. Since I still have a free lifetime account with WW I track on green but if I had to stick with one plan it would be carb conscious. However you have to do what works for you. All the plans work. It's just finding what you can stick to for the rest of your life. One day you will be at goal and will no longer have the thrill of the every week loss and it won't be as exciting so I think that is where sticking to a plan that works for you will see you through. Just my 2 cents.

Going with the trends and what I saw in my diary...as expected...the days UP ended up with a drop to a new LOW on the scale...this morning. I will continue to track and see how it goes. I know that I WILL lose over time if I stick with the program.
Since I have had good luck on all programs (when I follow them) I will give Purple a chance. I don't have whole wheat pasta in the house but do have grains and potatoes and such. I will cut back on portions and as hubby has gone to pick up produce (at one of his stops) I will have a variety to choose from at mealtime...will perhaps get out smaller plates? Hmm...I do tend to grab bigger rather than smaller ones at mealtime.
Thank you all for your input!
Yesterday I was under points on both Blue and Purple but over on MFP on calories...by a few.
NEW LOW: 166.2

borntexan exactly, the way people tend to eat makes a huge difference as to how well they'll do on different programs. As humans we tend to stick with things we like. Carb lovers do better on green, people who are geared towards the foods on the purple list do better with that program, it all comes down to moderation. I think that is pretty much true on any diet or program. Purple lovers actually can do any of the programs because those choices balance out the same no matter what they are doing since it is all about the zero point lists. Cathy if you notice your food journal the other day all came out equal due to your choices, the choices that were costing you points on the blue program were "zero on the other list so the ratio stayed the same. Now if you had started adding real carbs in you would have seen your points shoot up, unfortunately it does not work in reverse, carb lovers would be out of points by lunch on purple. Even if I try and do blue I have to eliminate things I usually grab without thinking twice about on green. I remember it was the when PP came out and my beloved 1 point snacks went up to 3!!! (Don't evennnn go there with the "but you got more points overall" 🤣🤣) POINTS was definitely more carb friendly as compared to PP. 4/22 30🟩
