Merry Christmas to all. Had a wonderful morning with my dd and family. We all received great gifts. I'm home resting a bit before part 2. The meal.
I tried a protein shake this morning and it was good.

After days... weeks... months perhaps of me trying to get Bob to pin down his mother's plans for the holidays, on the 23rd she decides that Christmas afternoon/evening. Today she called all pissy that 1) Bob would only be there for FOUR (yes 4) hours. 2) both Bob's kids, (her grandkids) and their respective significant others, as well as GREAT grandkids couldn't all say HOW HIGH when she said JUMP. So she just called to say "Don't come today. Come tomorrow." WHHHAAATTTTTT?
Though I Do feel sorry for Bob, I also think he needs to grow a pair as far as she's concerned. 2 or 3 weeks ago, a simple "When do you want us to come to your home for Christmas, so the rest of us can work around YOUR schedule" would have been expedient but he's afraid of his mother.
I think CONNIE's in-laws need to do next Christmas w/ Bob's mother. OMG talk about getting what one deserves.
Christmas. SHORTS WEATHER. And last year it was a wintry mess. Crazy crazy crazy. I kind of miss the snow. Except when I'm in the middle of it. Talk about hard to please.

Celeste,You are probably right about me being too nice re Connie's SIL.Kenneth has a cousin and everything is about her.I can imagine how tired the WM employees were.I'm glad they got today off to spend with their families.I think our high was 80.Before I went for my walk earlier I changed into shorts and now I have the ceiling fan plus an oscillating fan on.I would turn on the AC but we can't keep the electric heater and the AC plugged in at the same time and it's a pain to switch the plugs out.
Suze,I agree with you on cell phones when people eat out.For awhile when Kenneth got a call while we were eating at home he would go ahead and take the call.I have finally gotten him to tell them we're eating unless it's an important call.I never answer my cell even when we eat at home.
Steph,What is a virtual reality holder?I guess I could look it up on Amazon.Did you find your cranberry sauce?
Connie,I don't blame you for feeling that way.Your Tuscan chicken stew sounds good.I will have to look that up and find a recipe.I hope everything turned out okay today.
Celeste,It sounds like Bob hit the jackpot for Christmas.I hope you do equally as well.On the cashews if he's allergic to nuts what's up with that or is he just allergic to peanuts?I got Kenneth 2 Whataburger gift cards(his favorite place)and a watch b/c he's always asking me what time it is.So I got the kind he likes and he put it on this morning and about 2 hrs later he asked me what time it was.I said you have a watch now.He gave me a really nice indoor/outdoor thermometer with the day and clock already preset and it is supposed to have the weather forecast(after it syncs in 12 hrs)plus it measures the barometric pressure.A man Kenneth used to work with and his wife came over today and we exchanged gifts.I gave the wife a RFID wallet and an Amazon gift card.We gave them a Whataburger gift card as a couple gift b/c they like to go there too.She gave me a gift card to Bed,Bath & Beyond and for a couple gift we got DQ and Whataburger gift cards plus the man gave Kenneth something for his PU.I see the man a few times a yr b/c when he has time he helps Kenneth out with things but it seems like I see the wife is at Christmas.
Louise,I'm glad you all received great gifts.Enjoy the meal.
Celeste,Does Bob's mom bite?I can't imagine being afraid of my mom when she was alive. My dad was strict but I don't think I was ever afraid of him.I can't believe her being upset he could only stay 4 hrs???That's a long time IMO.
I hope everyone enjoyed their day and a late Merry Christmas to all.

Wow, I'm beat.
DH and I opened gifts this morning. He got me a bunch of dies for my fabric cutter and a new dive computer. Then I cooked lunch. Mom and dad got here and we visited for about 45 minutes then ate the Tuscan Chicken stew. (Recipe available on the South Your Mouth website.) Then we opened gifts with them. I got the new crockpot and 4 slice toaster I wanted. Then DHs sisters and husbands showed up.
I cleaned up the lunch dishes and started cooking dinner. Mom and dad headed home and everyone else opened gifts and then ate supper. Luckily, they helped me clean up after supper. Everyone just left so I am going to go up a and nap so I can stay up tonight. I feel like I'm ready to explode after that second meal!
Celeste- DH sometimes won't get off his phone when we are out to dinner. Totally gets on my nerves. And Bob's mom sounds like a piece of work.

STEPH I'd love to try one of those VR thingies. Which one did you guys get? I looked at Galaxy but it said it needed a galaxy phone 6.0 or better and mine is a 5S. Otherwise I may have gotten one for the fun of it.
BECKY funny thing about Bob and nuts. When we met he said he was allergic to all nuts. Then he had allergy testing and it said he was allergic to peanuts which are a legume and NOT to tree nuts. But he THINKS he's allergic to tree nuts EXCEPT he loves cashews so he THINKS he's not allergic to them so he can eat massive quantities. LMAO @ KENNETH asking what time it is. I guess it will take some time to get used to wearing one. And Bob's mom is a miserable old woman (she was a miserable young woman too apparently). She abuses Rx drugs, just sits in her recliner or in bed eating Snickers. If he had said he'd be visiting for 6 hrs or 8 hrs... that still wouldn't be enough. She's been in and out of rehab (substance and physical therapy rehab) so many times it's pathetic. As soon as she gets home she's back w/ the pills and not moving off her rear. And she LOVES to try to make people feel sorry for her. "Poor elderly sickly woman who can barely move." She LOVES to make Bob feel guilty. "you don't call. you don't come over" When he's over she's got him cutting down trees, vacuuming her floor. Giving her cash. And she DOES have a daughter (the unmarried lesbian psychic who channels dead people) who lives w/ her rent free who COULD do some of that. Hence he hates to go over there. Sad really but ..... NOT MY CIRCUS.... NOT MY MONKEYS.
Off to shower. The hair color I did a couple days ago... well let's just be glad that it's Christmas b/c this kind of RED should only be on stop lights and Christmas ornaments. Maybe a vigorous shampoo will lighten it up.

DH took his mom back to the home. Celeste, for years, his mom would cry not to put her in a nursing home and leave her. Well, many, many years ago, DH let something slip about how it's good enough for her b/c that's what she did to his dad. But, he goes to her every Sun afternoon b/c that's his mom. She's the one who chooses to sit in the room and not go out to talk to people. There are a lot of old, sane (as sane as you can be when you're old) people who she would love to talk to, but doesn't go out of her room. Oh, and there is a lady who visits her EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. This lady is around my age. Our sons know each other. I'm told "she doesn't work b/c her husband does"....what the hell is that supposed to mean? Every time we bring it up, this is thrown my way. Today I said "Must be nice to not ever have to work and have stress about anything." That somehow shut the conversation down.
Does sound like it was a nice day for everyone. Yes, it got up to 80 today and was really nice out, however...the CEDAR is HERE!! Pretty sure that's my problem. I'm doubling up on my OTC meds for the next few weeks.
Becky, at one point, Amazon had the virtual reality goggles for about $12. That was back in Sept/Oct. I got the kids 2 and then DH put this one on his list. You put your phone in it and then watch things. For the cheapy ones, there are apps in the Google play store...free & for purchase. Kids have their own bank accounts w/ their allowances & know what they can and cannot spend (DH also watches their accounts). www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HU3J9QA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yes, Celeste, I did go out and get the cranberry sauce. Had to get the canned kind, but it was still good. HEB has stopped making the kind we like from the deli and I couldn't find any at Randalls. I think they were the only grocery store open and I was surprised to see how many people were in shopping. I got my 1 item and got out.
So, I wasn't expecting anything under the tree since my treadmill will be coming in the next few weeks (almost done getting the front room straightend out), but, I got the new Kindle Fire HD. This will replace the one I have now. It's charging and I'll transfer everything over tomorrow. Disable my old one and give to Autumn. She's been asking for one.
Off to soak in the tub. We ate lunch late, so if anyone's hungry, there is food in the kitchen.

Connie,I hope your situation with your DSIL doesn't happen too often.Get some rest so you can go back to work. You deserve a nap after all that. Thanks for the recipe website. You got some really nice gifts.
Celeste,Kenneth said the same thing that it would take some time getting used to it and I told him it better not take very long...lmao. I have heard of people being allergic to peanuts but I would think they would be allergic to all nuts.Maybe he just likes fattening nuts. LOL! I used to be allergic to veggies b/c I hadn't tried them.Speaking of which I found another raw veggie I like...grape tomatoes.I had tried cherry tomatoes before and they were okay but these are so good and sweet.Bob's mom kinda sounds like an old Jewish mom trying to make him feel guilty. It's really sad.So what did you get from Bob for Christmas?
Steph,That's sad about your DMIL not wanting to go out of her room to talk to others.I worked for years while Kenneth worked. Most of us have to.Then I got disabled and a few yrs later Kenneth became disabled also.Kenneth used to go see his dad in the nursing home every day but he didn't expect me to go along every day with him but he wouldn't stay long b/c he usually stopped after work. You must be really allergic to cedar. They have listed cedar as being in the low category according to KXAN news today. We have a couple of cedar trees not too far from the house but thank goodness I'm not allergic to it.Mostly mold and dust.It got to 82 here today.I'm surprised Randall's was open. Both HEB and WM were closed here.In fact nobody was open in Elgin except for the convenience stores. You must have been a very good girl this yr with a treadmill and a Kindle Fire HD tablet.Good for you.
I am totally not hungry.I guess my IBS is acting up today.I haven't been hungry and when I do eat then I get so full and it does not feel good.I haven't eaten but about 21 SP and less than 1000 calories.I know I will be hungry in the morning but right now I can't even think about eating. We watched an old western with Tom Selleck and Marc Harmon. It was good but I totally didn't like Marc Harmon's character.

Good evening! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Went to my friend's house where I have gone every year since and including 2004 (when we had 12 inches of snow on the ground in So TX). We did a (they called it) Chinese Christmas (White Elephant exchange, etc.). Only had 3 gifts "stolen." Fortunately, the one I opened, I got to keep. It was a nice, soft throw blanket that the giver said she got at Beall's. Now, I have to put it somewhere so that my cats won't claim it as their own

Ha ha Mary...wonder how long until your new throw is claimed?
Been a day of up and down emotions for me. So I've just ridden it out. And i slept in way late, then Lu and I and Bk took a nap until 11. I wasn't showered and presentable until after noon. Oh well, I figured it's my Christmas, my rules.
CELESTE I a VR headset with my new Samsung phone. Still in the box. Check your email.
Anyone shopping tomorrow?

STEPH the last 2 years of her life my DM lived in assisted living and refused to leave her room. They had all SORTS of activities from movies to bingo to classes to concerts to bus trips but she didn't participate in any of them and would complain "It's like being here in prison." All I can hope is that we learn by their example. And good for your DH for visiting her. That has to be draining on him. And yeah what kind of crack about the woman not working? I'm not even sure what she MEANS by that. And funny but the ONLY kind of cranberry sauce I like is the jellied kind in the can. The texure of cranberry skins skeeves me out.
BECKY peanuts are not a true nut. They are legumes and they grow on the roots of the plants. More related to pinto beans than a tree nut. There CAN be cross allergies but usually not. And yes I really like grape tomatoes. And speaking of tomatoes< Bob got me a self watering container in which to grow tomatoes. it will hold 2 plants and it has the cages. you fill the bottom w/ water and it self waters. Maybe then i won't kill the dang plants.
FUNNY MARY! My investment guy gave me this super soft blanket for Christmas...let me rephrase that. HE GOT PETEY a blanket for Christmas.
SUZE Amen you your Christmas your rules. So many obligations or expectations we let ourselves put on ourselves. NOPE not worth it.See you tomorrow AM.
Had a lovely dinner w our neighbors. She made gumbo and beer bread. Then we chatted, laughed and drank except I had to stop drinking. I just can't pack it away like they do. WOW is all I can say. My liver would be crying MERCY. Bob's son came over for a few hours and it was a very laid back but lovely time. Now off to bed in a few minutes. Night all.

I'm happy to report that I was able to stay up all night. I finished the customer quilt I had on the machine. Only expected it to take an hour or so to finish, but it took 4. The piecing wasn't the greatest and there were a couple of areas that I would say ended up looking acceptable, but not great. But overall, I think it turned out ok. Will deliver it to the lady my next week off. She is in my quilt guild and I'm going down for the meeting.
I have a HUGE quilt waiting to be pinned on the machine. It should bring in some decent money. The piecing on it is not good....in areas where 8 seams are supposed to come together like the center of a pie cut into 8 sections, the circle looks more like an oval. The trick will be quilting it so that it's less noticeable. Will have to think about that.
I hope I sleep well today. Having that quilt done should help clear my mind.
SUZE- I was emotional last night. Holiday stress I assume. Maybe when I am back to my work routine I will be more myself again.

Suze,The only thing I'm shopping for today is produce for my salads.
Celeste,I didn't know that about peanuts.I have really learned to love grape tomatoes.I wonder where Bob got your self watering container for tomatoes.I would like to get one for Kenneth. He has had no luck the last 2 years in growing tomatoes due to either the heat or bugs.He loves home grown tomatoes.I'm glad you had a good visit with your friends and with Bob's son.He must be the good son???
Connie,I'm glad you were able to stay up.I'm sure getting the quilt finished helped.I have been letting things get to me more the last week.I don't know if it was remembering my dad died so close to Christmas or what but I hope it goes away soon.
Louise,Enjoy your day at home.
It will be back to Curves this morning and I will be glad to get back to a regular exercise routine although I walked every day they were closed it didn't seem to help that much.My knee is hurting again so I may need to schedule my walks on my off days from Curves.I will see how I feel this afternoon. My IBS is still acting up today. It may have been the hot sauce I put on my scrambled egg/eggbeaters this morning. We need to go to HEB this morning.I ran out of lettuce, baby spinach and carrots after dinner last night.I think the only thing I don't need in the produce section is grape tomatoes for my salads.
