Good answers to the questions today. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I have always wished I were more social so I would not be nervous about going to places alone, and maybe more comfortable walking in places where I don’t know anyone. Along the same thing, wish I were a joiner. But am happier at home with my books.

It took us 12 1/2 hours to get here even though there was no bad traffic or car trouble. Jim had borrowed his mother’s luggage carrier for the top of the car. When they were loading it I noticed something laying on the driveway and mentioned it to Jim saying I wonder what that is? He was like it’s fine I know what it is so don’t worry about it. So I let it go. About halfway here Debbie said hey Jim you do have the key to the carrier, right? He said yep it’s here in my pocket and pulled out of his pocket this weird thing I had noticed on the driveway so I figured well that’s cool! Debbie then said hey Jim don’t want to freak you out but this is just the string to hold the key and there’s no key attached! He searched his pockets and no key. Then everyone freaked out as no key, no luggage, no clothes, no special cleansing products of Maija’s! I thought to myself if he had told me when I saw it on our driveway it was the string holding the key to the carrier I would have known there was no key attached and checked the driveway for it. Debbie looked up locksmiths near the area he was going to stop for lunch, found one, explained what happened and they said if you have the code for it we can make the key as we do this all the time! In the meantime Debbie said well since we’re near a mall Maija needs a special facial cleaning product and the store that sells it is in this mall plus she needs a swimsuit so we took them there as we figured save time when we got to the cabin. Got that done and found the locksmith and he said no problem will have a new key in a jiffy! Everyone was once again all smiles! Five keys later he could not make a key to fit the lock! So 45 more minutes wasted and Maija got a Snapchat from her cousins saying they were at the cabin so she told us and Jim got angry saying we won’t be there for four more hours so stop complaining and that shocked me as Maija was not complaining just sharing her Snapchat. So then the car got very quiet. We stopped for gas and I needed chocolate so got some and noticed Jim in line with a snickers bar so paid for it and thought about the commercial showing someone being a grouch and eating a snickers and being nice again so hoped it might work with him and it worked! He was fine, Debbie was fine, Maija was fine, Fred is always fine, Jim’s daughter was still a grouch and I was just over this whole trip! When we got here they broke the lock and then Cindy said she had found a video on opening a carrier without the key which got Jim irritated again as he said why didn’t you tell me that before I broke the lock? Anyway the ones that were here early had already started drinking, but they’re all happy drunks and Jim and Debbie sat down and joined in and Debbie said since Maija was 20 and with Debbie she could as well. I did spend a long time talking with all my DGDs so that was nice and found out the one starting vet school does have a boyfriend and showed me his picture, very handsome young man! But Fred and I were exhausted and it was obvious by that time no dinner was being had so at 10:30 we went to bed. Never should have even tried that as the partiers carried on until 3 this morning! I figured I would sleep until at least 9 but nope at 6 my body said you’ve overslept so get up! If I would have stayed in bed I would have gotten a headache so got up. The other thing that had bothered me from the start was Debbie’s Highlander has four captains seats and a bench seat in the back. Debbie and Jim were sitting in front as Jim was driving and Fred and I had the other captains seats and the girls would take the bench. When we got in Debbie was in the back with Maija and Jim’s 14 year old daughter had the seat next to him! I was ticked off as why was that girl allowed to dictate where she would sit? She pretty much dictated everything as she would pout if it didn’t go her way and at the halfway point Jim said she needed to switch but she refused to so Debbie suffered sitting on that bench seat for that long drive! I told Fred she is a spoiled brat! I just hope the rest of the weekend is good. Mike did share with all of us a pleasant surprise. Fred’s younger sister had contacted him saying she heard we were doing a family reunion and had sent him a check for $2,000 to help with meals out and their horseback riding on Saturday. So anyway that was our trip from hell and Fred and I both said to each other never again! Oh and as for eating? I had a donut for breakfast, a Culver’s butter burger for lunch and a York peppermint patty. Today just has to be better, right? Sorry to be complaining but it feels good to get it off my chest and where else can I safely vent! 😂

Gym today. Silver sneakers class.
If I could change one thing about myself I think it would be to have perfect working internals. I think that would be more important than neuropathy gone.
Sandy, what a time!
Have a great day all.

Sandy even though this may be the "trip from hell", just think of all the memories you made thus far, not to mention having something to look back on in the years to come and have a good laugh. Think positive.

Good morning, friends!
Sandy, your description "our trip from hell" looks quite accurate! The snickers bar story made me giggle -- chocolate heals most irritations. Sure hope this day and those that follow is/are much, much more fun for you!
If I could change one thing, it would be my IBS issues.
DS and DGD#1 will be here tonight. We haven't seen them for several months. He is going to check out the items that are still in our barn. We're counting on his helping with some things here in the house as well.
Most of the sewing items in the lower-level bedroom have been stored elsewhere. We have an antique dresser that we purchased when we first married. It's walnut and pretty, but inefficient for our use now. Guy took the drawers to the barn, and DS will help him move the base and mirror. We're moving to lightweight, easily-movable, and wheels on everything in our "old age."
Break is over. BBL!

My experience has been no matter when families get together on vacation , you could make a TV episode of the Vacation from Hell!! We have had some doozies. No one can be pleasant all the time, this is the time you saw Jim's un pleasant side. We all have them!!! Jim is okay with being himself around you now and that is a good thing. My family parties all hours on vacation as well and I am usually given the room furthest away from the party area!! That is always a plus. Opposite side of house long ways a way if possible. the fun times always outway the bad. A few arguments later the joys always seem more. Ignore the daughter, Jim has probably always given in trying to be a good Dad. Did Maija get her bathing suit?? that is a good thing if she did. I could put myself in your place!! Remember , Sandy, nothing goes perfectly. And here is the place to unload and keep your pretty smiley face on. I am really glad you are spending time with family, not everyone gets to do that. Good with the bad. HOPE you have a wonderful time from here out.
I did sleep in and it felt good. I am doing laundry and in the process of being in the basement found the perfect clip to put the humming bird solar light on the clothesline pole more secure. I did that right away. Wish my DD#1 could see it at night all lit up. she would love it. It was a Christmas gift from her. along with the silly owl solar light right in front of the front porch. I must remember to tell her the next time I see her. I am a bit peeved she took her vacation and was not answering her phone or reading her texts. I hate when she does that, does not tell us what is doing or going and we tried to get ahold of her to tell her about the death of my DSIL's Mom and when she finally did check her cell phone, she just said, sorry I didn't know about it. Of course not. !! OH well, she is how she is.
the sky is bluer today and a few clouds here and there. you see more flocks of birds now days , we have been asked to take the feeders down. Hope they figure out what the bird disease is. Have not seen my gold finches in too long. Imagine they are down in the ravine where more food is. Humming bird feeders were to be taken down and mine already was as the bees swarmed it. It was packed with bees inside and they could not get out. so now I have to get a new one. It is laying out back at the end of the property and was hoping gradually they would get out. didn't want to get stung if they sting. they were not aggressive like the yellow jackets are. I just took it off the shepherds hook, and when they quit swarming took it out back. No stings at all. Must ask my neighbor what kind of bees they are. very small and black. Not a family of hornets for sure.
Time for another batch of laundry in the washer. I think I put clothes in the hamper even when they are not dirty but it is summer.

Connie, my hummingbird feeder has ants in it. I need to wash it today and put some fresh sugar water in it. Better than bees or wasps, but still . . . .

Once the ants find the feeders they are a pain.!! Humming birds do Not like the ants. I have the tiny little ants and they are a pain. Only outside and make little sandy like piles . I had moved mine twice. Didn't want to move it too far confusing the birds. Oh my the troubles of trying to enjoy the birds.

Connie: Thanks for the info about the ants. The ants found my big hummer feeder and that is probably why they are emptying the two small ones twice a day. I will go out there with my ant spray later and see if I can get them under control.
Not sure what to change about me. I am generous and caring so I guess the best thing I could do for me is to start putting ME first. It is hard to keep taking care of others when I don't do that. My back is screaming already and I haven't even walked Shana yet today. I have to do it twice today.
Sandy: OMG I'm glad you a safely home!
See you all later for tuck in!

I found ants in my kitchen. I mopped the floor and hope they are now gone. If I could change myself I would be more outgoing. I go places and never have much to say. I had planned to walk today, but when I went out to get the mail I decided it was too hot to walk. I guess I'll have to start walking earlier.

I put Vaseline on my feeder and the ants can't come down it.

Hi!
Wow, Sandy! Hope today is better.
If I could change anything about myself, I wouldn't have CMT! I really think it is more impactful than the diabetes or the lymphoma! I would love to be able to walk again, let alone drive. There, that's my "poor me" vent.
We had our usual breakfast when we meet with our retired teacher friends. DH and I share a ham steak, eggs, and home fries, mine with picante sauce. It is a meal that we can enjoy together and they split it for us. We also went to get haircuts today. So all that business is taken care of.
This evening's dinner will be spaghetti. That is a favorite of ours, and something we can put together easily.
Fun tonight watching the Olympics ceremony.
Diane
