Not sure how Fred is this morning as heās still asleep. But last night he said he felt great but was not happy when I reminded him heās pretty much on lockdown until 2 p.m. today as that will be 24 hours since the procedure. I might have him call the heart doctorās office this morning to ask about the watchman and if they will be contacting the insurance company as the date we had been given is October 25th if the endoscopy showed no problems but itās not showing up anywhere. Another endoscopy has been scheduled for the 25th and when I asked why is that on the same day as the watchman they said right after putting the watchman in they immediately do the endoscopy to be sure itās placed right and then do another in 30 days to be sure itās healing properly. So apparently itās somewhere in the system. It was interesting when this endoscopy they did was explained to us as they donāt go all the way down the throat just to the back and send out a sonar signal that is able to take pictures of the heart and at the same time take measurements. They explained all the risks and percentages of anything happening. The crew was two doctors, two anesthesiologists and one nurse. They never did say when it was time for me to leave but once they looked like they were ready to start I asked if I should leave and they were all surprised I was still there as they were so concentrated on what they were doing they forgot I was there! Since it was supposed to take 45 minutes to an hour Fred had suggested I go get some lunch but when the nurse was walking me back to the waiting room she said this will only take 20-25 minutes. I was very surprised but thought well I better just stay here and glad I did as in 20 minutes she was back to get me. Everything was done in the room he was brought to when we arrived. But she said when the watchman is done that is actual surgery so will be done on another floor but he will be brought back to them for recovery and will be kept overnight.
No accidents this morning from Bridgette. Canāt say the same for Bailey but thatās just Bailey being Bailey. We can start feeding Bridgette again this morning but Fred wants to start with scrambled eggs. I was surprised to read the eggs are good because of the protein but never to give them peanut butter when sick due to the fat content. Thatās my go to in getting medicine down when they wonāt take it. But thank goodness she acts like these tablets are the best treat ever!

Sandy I hope itās a go for the Watchman and that it helps Fred. Bridgette seems to be doing good too.
I had trouble getting to sleep last night because of gas and abdominal pain. Iām wondering if itās the Fosamax because yesterday is the first day I took it. I am to take it once a week. I still donāt feel the best.

Good morning.
It's a very foggy start to the day and I can barely make out the houses across the street. I hope it burns off soon.
Sandy, good luck to Fred. I was talking to my sister yesterday and she mentioned that she's going to talk to her doctor about getting a Watchman. She's recently been put on Xarelto and she was shocked at the cost. I'd love to stop taking my Xarelto but I'm not sure if I can have the Watchman procedure since I already have a pacemaker.
Today is the Senior lunch at church so Jerry is going over to pick up carry outs for us. Ham, beans and cornbread. Not too WW friendly but it sure will hit the spot on this damp foggy day. Right after lunch I'm riding with him to his rheumatologist appt. It sill feel good to get out of the house for awhile. I'm trying to stay as positive as I can but it's getting harder and harder. There are many times during the day that I feel so hopeless.
Sharon, I hope you can sleep better tonight.
QOTD: answer any you care to. 1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend? 2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in? 3. How did you come to live there?
AOTD: 1. A mutual friend introduced us. 2. The town I live in is in a rural farm community but still within a 25 mile drive to downtown Indianapolis. The best of both worlds. 3. We moved here from northwest Indiana to be closer to our daughter.

Vicki, ham is pretty low in points. The problem is the salt content! I've had no luck with beans as when I've tried even low point ones I tend to gain -- must be water retention.
Sandy, you are going through a very stressful time. I hope all goes smoothly. I'm sure Fred is not thrilled about a second endoscopy -- but hopefully at the end of the rainbow is better health.
1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend?
2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in?
3. How did you come to live there?
I met him through my dad! They knew each other playing golf and some friends of both of them suggested he take me out. Thanks dad! Sadly he is no longer part of my life...
I love Florida in general (I've lived in South Florida and Tampa, too). The Orlando area has lovely people, great weather, nice shopping and of course the theme parks! When my son was young we had annual passes to a different park every year -- usually either Universal or Sea World (including their water park, Aquatica). My son was never a huge Disney fan... He sure loved Universal, though! I'd even schlep him to Tampa for Busch Gardens because they have great roller coasters...
We're also about an hour from the beach -- Daytona, Cocoa, Ormond... My dream is to live in one of those beach towns eventually but I do really like the Orlando area.
I came to live here after losing a job in Tampa. I decided to sell my house there and temporarily move in with my dad who lived in Central Florida. That was 18 years ago now! I found my current home about 10 years ago and absolutely love it. Very pretty but also great location -- not too far from attractions and dining but very isolated and private. It's a little oasis but close to everything -- even WW who is about a mile away!

We wonāt go to Iowa this weekend after all. The coach said he wouldnāt play Max because of his wrist so theyāre not going to drive there either just for him to sit on the bench. However the big antique market is Sunday in Normal so we
AOTD: 1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend? I met Don through mutual friends. I knew who he was and was happy he called. Heās been a sweetheart and my best friend. I was lucky as we were only 19 when we married and many of those didnāt work out. For luck we grew up together.
2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in? Itās so quiet peaceful and relatively safe. I slept with the window open last night. And itās closer to family.
3. How did you come to live there? We lived in Florida for 17 years after retirement but it was time to come home. Our DK and DGK are happy.
My guts are still rolling. I had oatmeal for breakfast but Iām going to play it by ear the rest of the day.

Good morning! And it is a GORGEOUS morning here. High of 80 expected and it just got to 70 and the sun is brightly shining. Tonight I am going to an outdoor concert...Country Music. So excited.
Sandy, I do hope everything goes well for Fred. Glad Bridgette is doing better.
I hope your discomfort lessens, Sharon. Everyone is different. I don't remember ever having a reaction to it.
AOTD (looking forward to reading everyone's answers. Cute questions): 1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend? It was a fix-up with Mort. I belonged to a consciousness-raising group (did anyone else on this thread do that?) and one of the members and her significant other (later husband) and I got together often. They both worked with him at the hospital. The guy said, "You have to meet Mort. You two have so much in common." We loved eating, music, theater, reading, laughing, talking, nature, etc. Blind date and the first time we met we talked for hours. After the second, we were a "thing."
2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in? I love being in an over 55 community again. So much to do. And the weather...ahhh. I got used to the summer heat in not too long, am enjoying the fall, and am looking forward to a winter without snow. Also like the slower pace of life here. Driving in NYC, Southern CT, Boston, etc, was CRAZY. And of course it is great being near DD and fam.
3. How did you come to live there? DD and I had always wanted to move further south. DD came down here with a friend who was looking in the area and asked if there were any places for people my age. The realtor (who later became mine) lived here in Sun City. We all liked the area from the get-go. I do wish I had bought before coming down, as prices zoomed up by a fifth in a few months. But I am just grateful to be here.

I am so happy because I got a ticket to the life and times of the temptations. I love that my American Express card reward paid for it. I had just asked for that money about a week ago and so that is a great way for me to use that money. When you only need one ticket you can find a fairly good seat. This is the same theater where I saw Hamilton so twice as much as when I go to the dinner theater. And no dinner I was able to get a Sunday matinee. The next day I go to the dinner theater for the. Abba tribute . Those are in February. My other Three concerts are in March. The best part of Snowbird season is all the shows. Actually tickets go on sale on Friday but with my repeat business I get in on the sale right after season subscriptions so that was today
I feel much better today. Tylenol worked and I could even shuffle the cards . 4 tables and we came in second . No hands to brag about but a bold bid on the last hand put our score in second place.
Answers Met Don by him answering my ad on line
Estero is perfect location between Naples and Ft Myers . In minutes huge shopping areas and the beach My community is 614 homes and over 55 with many activities..most of which I donāt do but they are here
Moved here because of Donās cancer on the recommendation of Dr in Ohio But chose Estero because of my parents living in Naples before they died and my knowing about this part of Florida and my Motherās sister and brother and my cousin all being snowbirds in Naples. I had sold my parentās home in Naples before I met Don because I had no intention of moving to Florida

Hi All!
So sorry I missed yesterday's zoom meeting. With family here I totally forgot.
I'm glad the first procedure for Fred went well. And hope getting the Watchman in will go as well. Not being familiar with any of this I was surprised about all it entails.
Sharon hope your feeling better.
It's so nice to have family visiting. The are off to Disney today. Actually they are staying in a Disney resort the next few days to be close to the parks. On Saturday I will go into Orlando to help the get to the airport. The first group (grandson and wife and two kids) depart the airport at 9:30am. since the van is in his name he has to turn it in which means Missee and Rick and girls would have to take a cab to the airport or spend all day at the airport as their plane leaves at 6:30pm. So instead I volunteered to pick them up after checkout (even with a late checkout that's 11:00) and spend the day probably at one of the malls and get them to the airport on time.
Both of the granddaughters with Down Syndrome are doing well. Constance (the younger one) is better than Gabs. The Lord knew what he was doing when he gave two Down children to Missee and Rick. I don't know another couple who could do what they do and have done since the girls were born. Constance is a sweet girl/young woman. Talks all the time. When Missee and Rick went to pickup lunch on Sunday she kept us entertained. I told Missee and Rick there are no family secrets with Constance around.
As for Gabs. She lives in her own little world. She'll talk to herself and suddenly burst out laughing. It's sort of like somebody with dementia is the best way I can describe it. She'll answer you if you ask a direct question otherwise she's off to her own world.
Missee and Rick do have their hands full. But they seem to be doing very well. Of course they miss having Andrew's family near.
The visiting nurse was just here and she is very pleased with Jerry's progress. We might lose her soon. He's up to 3000 steps a day. Plus it's getting to the point where I have to stop him because he wants to do too much. Next Tuesday we go to Moffitt for his every 3 month CATSScan. Praying really hard that the results are good.
I did it! I bit the bullet and have ordered Jerry a portable oxygen concentrator. Yes, it's expensive but in the long run it's going to be better for both of us. I'm tired of hauling around the oxygen tanks everywhere we go. Plus with Jerry going to church with me everyday we are going through tanks like crazy so I'm having to run out to Rotech every other week or more often. All the oxygen providers in Lakeland still don't have any portable concentrators available. Our insurance will only rent the equipment not buy so we had to buy it ourselves.
1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend? Jerry and I met at a Sock Hop. I was 15 and he was 17. We started dating shortly after that and was married 2 years later. I was only 17 and Jerry 19. Many said it wouldn't last as we were too young. But here we are 61 years later.
2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in? We're in Lakeland halfway between Orland and Tampa. We have the best of both worlds without the hassle or traffic. Absolutely love it here. While I'm at the point that I'd prefer a smaller house to clean we'll stay where we are.
3. How did you come to live there? The company Jerry worked for told him they were giving him a promotion but he had to move but had a choice Cedar Rapids Iowa or Tampa Florida. At that point in our lives we were over the snow (we were in Michigan) so he chose Florida. Besides we already had two daughters in Orlando ad his sister so it was sort of a no brainer. I didn't want to live in Tampa and when I saw Lakeland I knew it was the right location.

Pat we call Cedar Rapids little Siberia. Ha ha I have been amazed at your ability to navigate heavy traffic, airports, medical centers. Iād be intimidated. Youāre quite the gal.
Jane Iām glad you are feeling better. The theater is something you can look forward to. I know you love it.
Gail you take Fosamax? Anyone else here? I know Karen C is on Prolia. I opted for the once a week pill so maybe itās a higher dose. Iām sipping on ginger tea to settle my stomach.

Sharon I took fosamax many years ago but it got me from osteopenia to normal. I canāt remember it bothering me. I think it was the newest drug at that time
You wonāt believe the euphoria I felt about seeing this show. Wow did that perk me right up. It is over 4 months away but just gave me a real lift which I badly need. I know I have been verging on depression and trying to not dwell on my loneliness and how antisocial I feel. Bridge at the clubhouse has helped. Yet I refuse to play on Friday. I used to love to shop and now I just want to get rid of everything. I loved looking for bargains and Don did too never knew a man who loved to shop and was so enthused that if I saw something I liked he encouraged me to get it in every color.Almost three years since I lost him and actually really lost him months before he died. I think he just held on for me. So glad he came into my life. Lots of happy memories.

Vicki Fred had to be referred by his heart doctor to the doctor who does the watchman. They have requirements for it but with him itās because of the bleed he had on xarelto and the doctor said he was just as vulnerable to a stroke as he is to a bleed and told us he needed to get the watchman which would make it possible for him to be off blood thinners. From what we were told if a blood thinner is working and you donāt get a major bleed from it they prefer you stay on it.
Shragae he really didnāt mind the endoscopy as he felt nothing it was just the fasting. But this second one is done just as soon as the watchman has been put in to be sure itās placed right and he would still be out so would feel nothing. He has a slight sore throat but he said he expected that.
QOTD: answer any you care to. 1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend? We both belonged to the Catholic Young Adults club which to join you had to be sponsored by a priest and single. He joined it with one of his buddies while in the army and we met at the first dance we went to.
2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in? To be honest after living in Virginia just outside DC it was a shock with very little traffic but also not much to do. It is a good place to raise a family but thatās about all I can say. Hard to make friends as the ones I did make were just while the kids were in school as all of them had been friends their whole lives and I was tolerated and then pretty much dropped by them.
3. How did you come to live there? Once Fred had finished his service in the army we moved back as this was where all his family was. It was hard on me being so far from my parents but I adjusted.

QOTD: answer any you care to. 1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend? Steven and I actually grew up a few miles apart. We attended the same church and youth group but he went to a country school near Monterey, IA where they lived. I attended another country school. Both his and my parents had always lived in this area. When attending high school Steven attended Bloomfield, I attended Moulton High school until senior year which due to reorganization I was forced to attend Bloomfield, then named Davis County Community Schools. We never dated until after we graduated. But when we were 9 years old the church youth group had a fall hayride where we all gathered at the church to start the ride but as the night went on they delivered us to each of our homes when ending the ride. There were several boys and girls on the hayride. I was a shy kid but Steven just the opposite. He would sit by one girl on the ride and when she got off at her home Steven moved to another girl. Eventually he sat by me. He kissed me on the cheek as I got off wagon. I couldnāt sleep all night. We were dating by the time I started Beauty Academy in fall after graduation and we got married In April 1964, I was 21 in June, Steven being 6 months younger was 21 that December.
2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in? We moved here because of work/business. It is very rural, closest neighbor a quarter mile away and cannot see their house unless in winter when all leaves are off trees. We put our new home here so not looking to move.
3. How did you come to live there? We moved here when we bought the Feed Store/Cafe building- business. We had gone broke buying a farm 2 years prior. Rose Hill is a very tiny town and used to be a busy friendly little town. We purchased in 1978, we lived in same building as it had two apartments. Things have changed drastically in that period of time, today I know very few people living in Rose Hill but still overall a nice community to live as we now since 1998 live in the country a mile outside of the town.
More rain today and thinking tomorrowās high will be in 50ās. Friday night the forecaster mentioned the words frost warnings. Ugh! Not doing much outside as wet and windy. Working on Sister in Laws project. Perfect day for baking but I would eat it so refraining.
Prayers for all needing them.

Hi all!
Had a good nights sleep. Made it to Yoga and then an hour swim/whirlpool. DD decided to take DGD to gymnastics so I spent time with the twins. Before leaving for my 11 am class I had a cup of veggie soup. After swim 2 small black bean brownies. Ate an apple at home reading the town paper. Just ate (my fav) a microwaved potato topped with a ton of steamed broccoli. Wasnāt in a creative mood so no cooking today.
Pat, I also am in awe of the amount of energy you have, cooking meals for two families, chauffeuring, TLC for Jerry and on and on! Donāt stop. Itās keeping you young!
In the late 90s, having been single for many years, I would end my day at the gym at a hotel. My friends DH bartender in the Pub so we would often stop in after working out. I met DH took his card and of course never called. He was there for a Seminar. A year later he had another week long Seminar and this time I agreed to a date. We moved to FL together 6 yrs later. We returned to NE after 6 yrs for health reasons. My DKs are what keeps me in the area. Being retired, the winter isnāt so detrimental as I can travel to warmer locales if I choose.
Sandy, sounds like Fred is in good hands and all will go smoothly. Gail, Iām reading at least 50 pages of the book daily to get through it. Very interesting, (tragic) though. Iām also reading āBeautiful World, Where Are Youā by Sally Rooney. Just caught my eye at the library.
The gang is at my door (3 DGK delights). Time for some fun!

Greetings:
Jane, I'm so glad you're feeling better. You were really down there for so long. Good to have something to help pick you up. Might be worth a splurge to see an extra show now and then since it's so good for your mental health.
Pat, I'll echo the others. You seem to have a full schedule all the time. I feel busy doing things, but not nearly like the kind of schedule you have.
Sharon said I'm on Prolia, true. In the early 2000's my doctor ordered a routine bone scan and my numbers were such that I had osteopenia. She put me on Actonel and I was on it for about 5 years with not much change. She suggested Fosamax or Prolia. My Mom was on Fosamax and was having lots of dental problems, bone dissolving, etc. We took her off that stuff and then I said I didn't want on it. The choice was Prolia. The first two or three had to be at an infusion center and then from then on it's just been the shot in the doctor's office. I'm considering a change in doctors. The bone scan I just had showed no change in my hip, but a good improvement in my spine. So, I'll take that. It was the bone in my arm that pushed my diagnosis from osteopenia to osteoporosis but they didn't rescan my arm. I told the assistant I found that quit surprising.
QOTD: answer any you care to.
1. Tell how you met your mate, partner or friend? I'd moved to Tucson for work and only knew the people at work. I looked online and found a singles group. There were 3 or 4 of them in the area, but this one emphasized group activities which is what I wanted. I wasn't looking for a partner. I went to many activities and happy hours and met several members. On New Year's Day 2003 the group walked up "A" mountain (University of Arizona) and then to one of the members' homes for black-eyed peas, etc. I'd never seen Bill at any of the activities. He'd been a member for three months and went to different things. I walked over and introduced myself and told him I would be at the next happy hour. He showed up and we talked and by May 2003 we were a couple.
2. What do you like about the city, town or area you live in? We have grandkids here, it has weather changes, but they aren't terrible and there is a terrific group of people our age where we live. They are here because their kids are here.
3. How did you come to live there? the kids had been urging us to move here for a few years. A neighborhood of our style house was going in by them and they really wanted us to buy one, but we didn't. When we finally decided to make the move, the same house cost us nearly twice what it would have if we'd bought earlier.
Tonight we are having Panda leftovers. Tomorrow I have Mahjong here. One of the group had a massive heart attach just a couple of weeks ago, but she is making an effort to get out and go places. Her doctor has said if she feels like it, she should do it. She really needs to listen to her body. I imagine I'd be a whole lot more reticent.
I'm reading a book for Book Club and kind of bored with it. I'm also rather bored with the book I'm listening to as I walk. I even deleted one the other day. It went on and on and I finally thought, where is this going? I decided it was going nowhere.
