Ha ha ha ha!!!!! We were posting at the same time Ruth, so I laughed reading your post that I made you order that yarn. Free shipping is a good deal….and I am glad you were able to use a Honey coupon to get 20% off. So we will both have new materials to play with to keep our crafting addiction going. Why not??? Winter is coming, and therefore we cannot be outside gardening (none of us like that…think CJ dislikes it too- not sure about Sue or Phyl). So we might as well have what we need to keep us inside and crafting. Now go make yourself a cup of tea with that new electric tea pot. (Ha ha ha)

Hello Everyone : Ginny and Ruth - I'm glad you found something to purchase at JoAnn's to take advantage of the free shipping. I probably won't be using the electric tea kettle to make water for tea, I really prefer heating my water up in the microwave. I'll probably use the kettle to heat water for other things. I just like black tea. I've tried a lot of the flavored teas and other "fancy" teas and just don't like them. Right now I've been drinking Tetley's British Blend tea for my morning cup of tea and Red Rose tea for the afternoon. I used to always drink Lipton tea but it started tasting strange to me, though I do still use it for iced tea. Then I switched to Twining's English Breakfast tea and drank it for a long time before it started tasting strange to me too. I hope the Tetley tea doesn't start doing that since I like it. It was sunny and in the 70s again here today. I didn't have to turn the furnace on since doing that yesterday seemed to take most of the chill out of the house. I actually did some outside "gardening today". I cut the dead branches off my peony plant I changed my mind on another project I thought I was going to hand quilt - the one using the bold hand quilting thread. I tried some of it today and it wasn't an easy thread to work with or to thread in a needle. So I changed my mind and just machine quilted this small quilt too. Fortunately all these pieces I did this week are small and easy to quilt on my regular machine, I didn't have to get out my heavy duty machine. So now I just have one quilt ready for hand quilting and I've changed my mind on doing the baptist fan design on it - seems like I can't stick with any decisions lately I found another pattern that I hope will work better and I'm going to test it out in one block. This small top has 16 blocks and measured 32x32 inches so I thought doing a repeat pattern in each block would look better than an overall pattern of fans. I also need to get working on my blocks for the 2 Pat Sloan quilt alongs I'm participating in and I hope I can get them done by this weekend. Take care!

Ginny, you are so right. We do need things to keep us occupied in the winter. I have so many blankets I want to try as well as a lot of other things. You asked yesterday if I kept track on all the things I make and well..sometimes. I have a notebook that I started to write everything down in but I sometimes forget. CJ, I'm just the opposite. I like to heat my water in the electric kettle because the water sometimes does a weird thing after being heated in the microwave. There are certain flavored teas that I like.Coffee is a different story. There aren't any flavored coffees that I've found that I like. A friend sent me some samples of tea she liked and I liked it too. For regular tea I try to buy Red Rose when I can; and speaking of Red Rose, as I was cleaning out my curio cabinets the other day one of hte things I had to dust was those little things you get in the box of RR. If there's any of those animals you need for your collection let me know. I have doubles of some of them. I bet you do too though but if there's one you need.....I like that Tetley British blend too but haven't bought any in awhile since I bought a lot of Red Rose with good coupons. And nothing wrong with changing your mind. Look at how many times I've changed my mind on what I was going to crochet. And if a thread is hard to work with, the project is no longer enjoyable to do so you're so right in picking a way of quilting that makes it enjoyable.

Good afternoon!!! Yes, Ruth, you need to keep track of everything you make. It important…and a wonderful way to document what you have done and all the crocheting you have accomplished. Did your Joanns order ship yet? As yours is coming from a different distribution warehouse (probably) it might not have. Got an email that mine is enroute, but no estimate of when it will arrive here. Great minds think alike here…I drink Tetley British Blend, its my go to tea for sure. I make it in an oversized mug, so that the large tea bag has enough tea in it to make it taste great. Yes, I also like red rose, salada is also good. For years I was unable to drink Lipton, which tastes harsh to me. Some flavored teas are nice- I used to be able to get a blackberry flavored tea that was wonderful.
CJ- the twinnings English Breakfast tea is pleasant…yes I like that also. Funny how our tastes can change or perhaps its the tea that has changed. I have been enjoying British blend for a long while (over 15 years) and have not noticed a change. During the summer they were out of BB but had an English blend tea, also in the larger round tea bags, a green box- also Tetley. I took the box over to DD’s house so I would have my tea there as I am there a lot…It was a dollar more a box, and I do not like it as much as the BB. I am happy for you that your smaller machine was able to handle the machine quilting you did today… guess none of us has a dream room in which we can keep everything out all the time. (Which is why I just ordered a mini iron, as they take up much less space). Bet the 32 X 32 inch quilt is adorable- what design did you decide to quilt on that? Do you have your fabrics selected for the Pat Sloan quilt alongs?? Gosh you accomplish a lot!!!
Today was busy- I intentionally pushed some errands into today so that tomorrow will be a more pleasant and easier day for me. Hope I can get some crafting in this evening…I want to see if I can modify the one ornament that I started to finish and had some trouble with. It should be pretty easy to adapt it so that it hangs nicely.
Hope everyone has a great evening. Ginny

Good afternoon, Ginny and to all the come in or just read.
it's a beautiful fall day. Only 62 degrees but feels great after the cold day on Tues.
Ginny it's great that you did so many of your errands today so that you have tomorrow to do as you like...for the most part anyway.
I ordered a couple more things from Joann's today. I want to put bells on the hats but, although I did have bells, I don't know if I still have them so went ahead and ordered them and wondered why I didn't think of it yesterday. Luckily I did get free shipping again but I ended up paying $1 more each for the two skeins of yarn I missed buying yesterday too.And there was no 20% off today but whatever. It wouldn't have added up to much anyway
I'm on my 7th hat now and would love to get this and two more done today but that's probably not going to happen. The one I'm making today is FHSS in the color mistletoe. I found it in my stash of Christmas yarns. I don't remember buying it so I may have got it from a Caps for Kids meeting. That's what I ordered today so that I'll have it for other Christmas projects either this year or in the future. There are a lot I want to make. And I think I'll crochet some stars for on these hats. That would be a nice touch I think
Have a great evening everyone. It's still afternoon here but time goes by so fast esp when you sleep in like I did this morning.

Hello Ginny - We do all have great minds I'm glad you were able to get more errands done today and I hope tomorrow is more relaxing for you. Hope things go well with the ornament adaptation. Ruth - Your projects sound so fun and those Christmas hats so cute. I'm glad you had a nice weather day. The weather here has been very nice and I think it's still supposed to be good, but just a bit cooler the next few days. I had to go to a funeral today. I'm still not comfortable with going to things where there are a lot of people, but I needed to go to this one. I actually had one I had to go to last month too. It was a requirement to wear masks but people were pulling their masks down some, so I just hope I don't get sick from being there. I was able to finish cutting all the pieces for the 3 blocks I need to get done for the Pat Sloan quilt alongs and hope to get them pieced tomorrow or this weekend. There will be a new step in the Autumn Jubilee quilt tomorrow but I think I have everything cut for it so it should be quick to put together. Take care!

CJ, good to see you. I hope and will pray that you don't get sick but I do think it's unlikely that you would. I'd bet you stayed as far away from those not wearing their masks properly. It also sounds like you're prepared for the next steps in the quilting projects you're participating in as well as doing your own.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Unfortunately I was sitting probably about 6 feet away from the person without the mask, and I hugged another person without a mask I just have to hope I'll be O.K. I think people around here are a bit "burned out" from all the mask wearing, etc. Thanks for caring I finished the next block for Pat Sloan's Fall Frolic quilt along, pictures of my 2 versions (blocks 1 and 2) are below. I had a bit of trouble making sure the purple fabric was in the right direction. I also finished the next block for the Happy Everything quilt along (carrots). It was a pretty easy block to make. The only difficulty I'm having with this quilt along is that I bought the Kindle version of her book, so it does make it hard to follow the pattern that way. I find I'm writing the cutting instructions out on paper, but I'm still happier not having another book in the house. I worked hard to get rid of a lot of books a few years ago Take care everyone!

CJ, I love the fall frolic blocks but don't care as much for the one with the purple. I'm sure it will look great once they are all put together. And I see why you had to be careful how you positioned those purple fabrics and you got it! And the bottom two blocks are great also. Yes when someone wants to hug you it's not easy to get out of doing it. I'm definitely keep you in prayer.
It's another great day here. If only it would stay like this all winter I'd be happy. I just too a bunch of bags of things to be donated to the store that sells things to raise money for the rescue mission and also the hats I have to donate to go to the senior center. I'll be taking my car for yet another recall fix week after next and wlll drop all that off then. Maybe I'll get a chance to go through more things before then to donate and also make more hats.
Speaking of hats I'm almost done with the main part of the last one. I still have to go back and put the embellishments on them but hopefully I'll get them completely done this weekend. I also plan to sort some thing out in the garage while weather is good for going into the trash for Tuesday

Good evening!
CJ- sorry you had to attend that funeral….but honestly I doubt that you would be getting sick from one exposure. Masks do not accomplish a whole lot anyway, unless they are N-95’s and most people do not wear them anyway. There is also a good possibility that the other person was vaccinated….and also the possibility that they are not sick at all!!! Chances are that you are just fine and will have no problems. How cute the Happy Everything blocks are!!!! Really like your fall frolic blocks, but the middle ones (even with the pesky purple fabric) really caught my eye. I love the larger floral…so pretty and a nice job on the piecing too.
Ruth, congrats on getting another Joanns order in with free shipping. (Cannot beat that). So nice you got a good deal and were able to t get the color yarn you were looking for. That is great that you have gotten items organized for donation and can fit that in your errands with the car recall. What a great feeling of accomplishment getting items ready for donation or disposal. Amazing how a good decluttering can really motivate to keep on cleaning.
Well my car has a few recalls, but they will not get taken care of until December when I get my oil changed. And like CJ, unfortunately I have a funeral to attend. I will be helping out with the music for the ceremony…(4 hymns) and I have the time to practice those hymns. Today was busy, at least in the am. I worked (Monitor on the same route I did yesterday) and then trained. We made the decision to try to let this trainee go for his road test next week- he is sincere and trying hard, but not totally understanding all the elements of the pretrip- which is where we check the bus to make sure EVERYTHING works perfectly. His driving is ok- and could pass. He is a bit frustrating to work with, because of his inability to follow instruction well.
My Joanns order is supposed to arrive on Thursday of next week.
Think I will work on a Christmas ornament now. Ginny

Good morning and Happy Saturday!!! Wish I could say I slept well last night- I did not. Not a horrible night but absolutely not my best night of sleep. Hope I can sleep better this evening. I did get some work done on a new ornament last night, and also completed the base for 4 ornaments . The base is merely some extra plain fabric made into the appropriate size and stuffed with batting. None of the base is seen once the prairie points are added. I am really looking forward to my mini iron - which is supposed to arrive Thursday.
Hope I can rake some leaves this am….its raining lightly and its actually easier to rake wet leaves than dry. I might try to get some bagged before I see Dd.
Have an awesome Saturday.. will check in later. Ginny

This is a beautiful morning with gold aspen leaves still there peeking in the bay window. Lots of gray clouds meandering past!
I'm not getting much accomplished this week. hb said a few days ago that it was time to get another dog. I said no! We still have six! They're quieter, and the stay closer to me. One of them is Mindi; she was Peanut's littermate who has been glued to my side for years.
I have ordered several things this week but no yarn or fabric. I did get some knitting needles though. I continue to be fascinated by new yarn and fabric! I love to hear about you buying it!
I really like the first two blocks CJ.
My helper said she's getting better this week, but I am still very concerned about her.

Sue, good to hear from you….got plans for those new knitting needles?? So glad to hear that your helper is feeling better. Ion quickly she recovers from her miscarriage would depend on how far along her pregnancy was and if she needed a D&C afterward. I hope she is doing well and is able to cope with her loss. Your concern for her is a good thing and she will be thankful for your support as she recovers. And I am not a dog person, but 6 dogs seems like enough. Ha ha ha
Attended a very awkward funeral this morning and then did spend a few hours with DD. Glad to have a quiet day tomorrow… Ginny

Good morning all. It's a bright sunny day here and just a little on the chilly side. It rained yesterday so if it had been colder we would have had snow. I did work on the hats yesterday and got the edging with the "elf points" on several but then I got sidetracked and didn't finish all of them. There are a couple I want to do in green but I don't have the right green so decided to wait for my Joann shipment which I got an email saying It will arrive tomorrow. So I'll do what I can today. I found that I do have bells but one bag is gold bells and the other is bronzy looking bells and I want silver so they will be here tomorrow too I think or maybe the next day as it's a separate order.I just have to decide how to attach them I got an email with a pattern for a football so I might make those for the grand and greatgrand boys. Boys like to throw things and these are fairly safe for throwing inside.I still have to decide on that though. The person sending the pattern suggested making them for people attending your football game get togethers but I don't have those See you all later
