Well phooey...as my aunt used to say.. I guess I didn't order any green I guess I'll have to order again. . I'll do something different with the hats that I was planning on using green for. And I'm sure that in my huge stash there has to actually be a green I can use.

Ruth - can you wrangle another free shipping deal out of Joanns?? I will check my emails and see what I can find. Hope you can find another color or a nice green in your stash. And it would not be the first time someone messed up an order. And I use Phooey sometimes too….but I am sure you are disappointed that green was not in your Joanns box.
I am tired and have a bit of a headache….am staying home instead of going to study- already in my pajamas and feeling comfortable. Unfortunately we are supposed to get a lot of rain tomorrow….I hope that none comes inside my house. My drainage project takes place in about 6 weeks.
Have a good night all G

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that you have a headache. I hope it will go away fast. And you haven't been sleeping well either. I sure hope the water does't come into your house again and I know you'll be really glad when the problem of drainage is solved.
I finally did find the exact green I wanted in my stash. It wasn't where it should have been but I did look other places too, earlier, and didn't see it then suddenly there it was..right out in the open! I still need more of this color though because this is definitely my last skein and I'll be using it a lot in the coming year because I want to work on Christmas things for next year plus there are so many things that it can be used in as stripes, etc.Joann's does seem to have free shipping pretty often and there's always Honey to try. Plus Black Friday is coming up and other Christmas sales and well as the usual time after the first of the year when they seem to have a lot of sales with free shipping. Now that I have this one skein it's probably all I'll need until later. Of course I could always run into Walmart and pick one up if they still have yarn. Last time I was there the yarn dep't was practically non existent.

Good morning Ruth, CJ, Phyl, Sue and all others who stop by to stay hello or read.
Ruth, so good to hear that you had some of the green you wanted in your stash. If I were you I would bank on free shipping from Joanns plus some Honey deals. Heard this am that with all the supply issues we are experiencing that there most likely will not be any Black Friday deals like we are used to or perhaps none at all. I will keep my eye open for free shipping at Joanns. Does Walmart.com offer yarn? (Sometimes its only in store) Its pretty easy to work on free shipping from them
Well my headache disappeared pretty quickly last night- I just really needed a night off. Did not sleep all that well, the heavy rain kept me up. Its supposed to rain all day- but the heaviest rain is over with I think. Hope my house stays relatively dry. I am not looking forward to the disruption and mess of the waterproofing project but looking forward to not having to worry about water inside my home.
I did sort of finish 2 ornaments last night. I really like how the shank buttons look and will end up using them instead of buttons with holes on top. To secure the shank buttons I will probably sew them in and then put a small amount of hot glue. These ornaments are small but so cute!!!!
Will stop back in later to see who checks in.

I remember you saying that your Joann's order would not be delivered until Thursday. What a nice surprise to get it early. I'm glad your headache didn't last long but sorry that you've been having trouble sleeping.I'm sure the ornaments are beautiful and I'm glad you devised a way to hold the buttons that you prefer
It's a rainy day here. One of our few days of that kind. I'm glad we're not going out today. We will tomorrow though. I got my first Joann's order promptly but I thought the second one would be here today since I ordered it the day after the other one but it won't be here until tomorrow but that's no problem. Ginny, I checked Walmart online and the hunter green color, for some reason, is WAY higher in cost than the others. RHSS is $3.44 in almost all colors but the one I want. It's over $10 for one skein which is the same as all the others. Or you can get a six pack of it for about $31 which, of course makes it over $5.I'll wait and see if I see anymore online deals. I don't need it right away. I have enough to finish these hats and don't have anything planned for which I'll that need particular color.
You're right about supplies. There is going to be a shortage of a lot of things and/or massive price hikes. People complain about others "hoarding".I don't agree with that at all and consider it only sensible to stock up on things you will absolutely need or just plain like to have. One other advantage of having things on hand is that you don't have to go out then in bad weather to get what you need.

Well I got an email saying my Joann order was going to be delived tomorrow but now I got one saying it was delivered to my mailbox. That does me no good because I'm not going out in this cold, cold rain to get it.Plus I don't like to start the car for such a short trip but I'm sure not walking down there. It's been steadily raining all day which is even more highly unusual than that it rained today at all. Usually when it does rain it rains for 10 minutes and that's it.Today we have actual muddy puddles.

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad your headache went away quickly and you haven't had any water damage from the rains, hope that continues. I also hope you don't have any problems from the wind we're getting here (we had the rain last night). I'll be glad for you once you get the drainage work completed. Ruth - I hope you can get your package somehow. I find online shopping so convenient, but it's the package delivery that is always problematic for me too. Hope you can find a deal for the green yarn so you can get it. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are both well. It is much cooler here, in the 50s right now. We had a lot of heavy rain last evening and today it's very windy - more like Fall weather to me. I finished the next block for Pat Sloan's Happy Everything quilt along this morning. I made one fabric cutting error that I didn't realize until I almost had the block together. I was able to take it apart and still use some of what I had done with a few changes and fortunately didn't have to remake the whole block. It's still a bit of a struggle to figure out what fabrics to use for the blocks so I feel like they all coordinate. I'm sure it will get easier the more blocks that we get done. I just don't like making scrappy quilts Hope all of you are doing well, that your weather isn't too bad, and that you get to do some crafting. Take care!

Well there you go…..two ornaments. I prefer the look of the shank button- even though it is a bit more challenging to get in place. As I said, I think I might just put a bit of glue on the shank after a few quick stitches go in. That might solve the problem.
Ruth, I cannot figure out Joanns shipping….they told me Thursday for sure and then out of nowhere I get the email that the package will arrive that day.. Too bad that your package might be out by the mail box- hope that its ok where it is and it is not getting rained on. I totally agree with you, stocking up is NOT a bad thing. Its not hoarding if you are buying supplies that you need and are getting them in so you do not have to go out as much. I plan on going to BJ’s next week and loading up on the items that I buy from them- like cat litter and cat food. None of them go bad and its a long drive to BJ’s. So I might as well get what I need so that I do not have to go back for a few weeks. I wonder if that green yarn is so expensive because Christmas is not too far off….the price makes no sense at all. Hopefully someone has a sale on it and you are able to pick the yarn up at a decent price.
CJ- that is too bad about the fabric cutting problem, but it does sound as though you were able to adjust and work around the issue. Yes, I can imagine if a scrappy quilt is not your natural way of thinking, how it must feel. (Remember when I get to the starlite quilt it will be scrappy, just wait and hear me whine when its my turn!). I am confident that you made great fabric choices. And that the block looks cute. Don’t be too hard on yourself, and also its all gotta coordinate together. I bet when other blocks are there and they are also scrappy that they will compliment each other. Did you have any problems with the rain and wind?
Got a little bit more than a tiny amount of water in the house but its not awful. We moved the dehumidifier and set up a fan. Think the rain is supposed to end around 4 am…..so I am expecting perhaps a little bit more in the house but not a lot. Yes, I am looking forward to getting this problem fixed.
My trainee passed his road test today. Pfew!!!! Big relief.
Have a good night all Ginny

Yikes- quiet here….
Friday I am going to a crafting event at Board and Brush. Its pretty pricey , I am going with some women from study group. You pick a project (from their list) and they assist you in making it. Its a somewhat social event, most people do it with friends. Gotta say, If I had known before I signed up that it would be so pricey, I never would have said I would attend. But it will be nice to have an evening out with some friends, and it is fairly close to my home.

Ginny, did you know that you have a blank post? It sounds like it was supposed to be pictures of your ornaments but it either didn't go through or just doesn't show up on my laptop. Sorry your event is so pricey. Yes it is fun to be out with friends. What is Brush and Board? Went shopping today. It was an interesting experience...long story. One of the things is there were a lot more people using masks. Some had on masks that are entirely useless but if it makes them feel better. Another is the sad state of young people's ability to do simple math. You need a calculator to find out how much 10% of something is? ?? Then there's the sticker shock at how much prices have already risen. But it's a nice day although fairly chilly feeling because of the wind. Oh and I was able to pick up my Joann parcel from the mailbox. There is no danger of our parcels getting wet. They have parcel lockers down there plus the HOA a few years ago decided to build a structure over the mailboxes and lockers. For the rest of the day I'm going to relax and crochet.
