I have survived my trip to the quilt shop…..and did buy fabric (from the Kansas troubles line) and instructions to make myself a tote bag. I figure that the pattern will be useful for gifts….in the future, a good investment. BBL to see who has checked in

CJ, I love that bottom picture. Is that one the fall one? Looks like fall colors to me. I like the other also but the bottom one is my favorite. I liked looking at the cookie recipes but I'm with you on the ones I like which is the same as yours. I do like that last recipe which was the lemon balls. I'd have to buy a lemon to make them though and the price of lemons hurts me. I'm hoping to find marked down ones when I go shopping next. They sometimes have them.
Ginny, I'm glad you found fabric and also a pattern you'll be able to use over and over. I'm sorry to hear that your son will be moving out. Unfortunately our children do that and we are actually happy for them and to see that they have become self sufficient adults but it's not easy for us. I'm sure with the bus driver shortage that your school district will not be real happy that you won't be working as much plus I think they consider you a very valued employee.
Phyl, it's good to see you again. You said you came back Monday...where did you go. Yes on returning from a trip there are always things to catch up on.
Yes I've been busy all day with either visiting with dh, doing some cooking, and looking at patterns online and watching tv. The only program I would have missed by getting rid of sattelite tv is on a local channel. They're old ones but most I haven't seen before. It's that Forged in Fire that the woman who posted here briefly mentioned when she was here. I guess it's crafting because I watched people creating beautiful knves and swords. Now, however, I'm going to keep watching that and crochet at the same time.
See you all tomorrow.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you were able to find some fabric to buy, I love that fabric line. I'm sorry that your DS is going to be moving out, even though I know you are happy for him. While there are lots of things I like about living alone, I have found it difficult and lonely at times since my father passed away. I hope having your grandkids close by helps. Phyl - I'm glad you checked in and I hope that your cold gets better soon. Ruth - I'm glad you checked in and that you are alright (we were posting at the same time). Yes, the bottom quilt is one of the Fall Frolic quilts. The black fabric and the cream fabric has small leaves and acorns on it. It's really pretty fabric up close. Sue - Hope you are doing well. The migraine I had yesterday did get a bit worse and I ended up laying down for awhile and felt better. I could feel one starting to come on today and took medicine right away and it never developed into a full blown one. It would be nice to know if there is something I'm doing that triggers them, or if it's weather or just body related. I had to go out this morning so I didn't get to work on any quilting. I hope to finish the borders on that second Fall Frolic quilt this weekend. I'll be glad to be finished with those. I saw this guy making a Lemon and Orange cake/loaf and it looks really good. I may have to try it the next time I buy eggs. I only have 1 egg left from the dozen I bought before Thanksgiving and I'm using it this weekend to make Gingerbread. I won't buy anymore eggs for awhile because I just use them to make high calorie items www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m-FAjY5G4UHope you all get to do some crafting this weekend. Take care

CJ, I went and watched the video and also saw one for a lemon only cake that looks good.
I didn't end up doing any crocheting yesterday so will make up for it today. I did finish one of the hats I'm making for dh on Thursday. Just realized that Christmas is two weeks from today. I guess I should get busy and wrap the gifts for the great grandchildren. They're the only ones I give gifts to that are wrapped. The things I crochet for the rest of them I just put in one box and let each of them choose whichever one they want out of each category of items.
It's so cold today that I want summer back. It snowed a lot yesterday. In a couple days we'll have a couple days of warmer temps

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Hope you get some milder weather again. Here's another link for the Orange and Lemon cake, hope this works - it's probably about the same as the lemon one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m-FAjY5G4UI finished the other Fall Frolic quilt top today and I'm glad it's done, that quilt turned into a monster I think it finishes at 74x74 inches and and I had to join the border strips on all sides. The pretty floral/pumpkin fabric is a bit directional too, so I was trying to make sure to match those up so it went in the same direction when I joined it. I think I'm happy with it, it is what it is at this point

Grrrr….Just tried to leave a lovely post and then the site told me I was not logged in and poof!!!!its gone…
Happy Saturday all- Ruth hard to believe that you had a crochet free day but you did. Were you able to finish the hat for Dh and are you done with those?? Not sure if you are looking forward to wrapping gifts- it’s no ones favorite task and can be back breaking work. Are they gifts for local family and do not need mailing??
CJ- G that second fall fall asleep it turned out so beautifully! You did a great job getting the border on that and I really could not tell dad that pumpkin fabric was a directional. 74 x 74 is a pretty large quilt, and you usually work on smaller pieces. I do understand the challenge. Glad you got you on my damn back and that you’re back in your quilting Waze.
Phyl, I hope your cold goes away quickly and that you’re feeling well.
Sue hope to hear from you and that you are comfortable and getting the help at home to make your life easier.
Obviously I finally decided not to be lazy and actually posted the pictures of the quilts from the quilt show. Just for a quick historical reference, quilt number 36 was made in 1854, quilt number 38 which was Janes favorite was made in 1860, that pineapple quilt was made in 1850, and the scrappy triangle quilt was made in 1880. I’d love to know the history of all the fabrics in that quilt and talk to the quilter and find out what inspired her. I might work on another ornament tonight, while watching a Hallmark movie.
Have a good evening of all.
Ginny

Ginny - Thanks so much for sharing those pictures of the antique quilts - they are all so beautiful. It's just amazing that they are in such good condition after all these years

CJ, when you showed us the blocks for that quilt awhile back I didn't care for the purple in them but now that it's all together that purple really does belong and really makes the quilt stand out. It's amazing. There was something about that video I was going to mention to you but I forgot what it was now. I looked at them last night so memory doesn't stay long I guess.
Ginny, thanks for posting those beautiful pictures. The owners are so blessed to have something like that and, as CJ said, in such great shape
I did get the one hat finished a couple days ago and another finished up today and am now starting another. I want to make him several so he can pick the ones he likes. The one I just started supposedly is one that a person could finish in a couple hours but not me. I guess I've slowed up, too in my old age. Memory is shot and speed in crocheting is also
Phyl, I don't remember what part of Kentucky your family is in but I'm hoping and praying that they aren't in the area where the tornadoes hit

Phyl, I'm glad your family is ok and not in the storm zone. I'll be praying that the storms don't turn and that no furthur storms will come through. Sorry about your sinus problem. That can be very painful
