Good morning!
Phyl I am sure you are sick of doctors- but if that does not clear up in a day or so it might be a good idea to see your doctor. I am so very thankful that your family in KY is safe. Watching the news now, it looks absolutely horrible what the tornadoes did.
Ruth, I cannot speak for your memory which seems quite fine here, but not all estimated craft times are not accurate. The infamous 20 minute table runner usually takes me almost an hour…and other time estimates for crafts I usually find to be incorrect. And you still take on many new patterns and figure them out no matter how poor the directions. I am sure that Dh is going to find a hat or two or three that he will love. I think it is so wonderful when a husband is so encouraging of his wife’s crafts.
CJ- there were several quilts that really showed their age. The diagonal triangle quilt (#15) has several fabrics that have not held up as well as others over time. And there is a lovely star quilt in that show that has some significant damage- yet it is still nice to look at. Again what amazes me (check out the pineapple quilt) all the hand stitching and that these were made without aid of all the fun tools we have today. The treadle sewing machine was invented in 1790 but did not really become a workable piece of equipment until 1880 ish….although the first effort by Singer to produce a treadle machine was 1856. Some of these quilts have to be completely hand made efforts. BTW- singer is now owned by Pfaff. (Learned all these cool facts on my phone)
Speaking of sewing machines…Jane and I travelled to the quilt shop. They have redesigned the shop again, with the hope of isolating their class area and trying to reorganize the shop. I found tremendous humor in the fact that they now sell Singer machines. About 4 years ago I took a class there and the instructor at that shop made fun of my Singer confidence quilter ( her comment was about the machines age which was about 10 years at that time and that it was a singer). At that time I promised myself I would NEVER purchase a machine from them. So now they have a prominent singer display. What goes around comes around….how funny.
Got no crafting done last night, but decided to work on Christmas cards a bit. Did not get many done last night either. I have decided (with the exception of a few individuals/couples) not to send to those who we just started sending cards to - people that Dh reconnected with in very recent years. Honestly they do not know me well at all and would not recognize me if they saw me in public.
Hope to finish the cards this am….I just want to be done with them.
Yes I am going to get some crafting done today.
Ginny
