Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

All those that read here please stop in and say hello. We'd love to hear from you and hear what crafting you're doing.
I whipped up another batch of pecan bars (made with walnuts) for dh. He loves them. Thank you, Ginny, for the recipe.
I did work on a hat last night for dh. I switched back to the one I thought was more complicated but it turns out it's easier than the pattern that's called "The easiet hat pattern". They both have slip stitches you have to work in but this one they are easier to get into. Besides that I like the look of the top of this one better.
I had planned to wrap the great grandchildren's Christmas gifts this morning but woke up late so didn't get to that.I have to get that done and the gifts I made for the adults organized.I could still do it but I don't feel like doing it right now so I won't.....probably won't.
See you all later

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well It's been a lot colder here after that front went through on Saturday. But it was nice and sunny today. The next block for the Happy Everything quilt along came out today and it was another applique (of a pumpkin). Since I don't want to do any applique I found a pattern for a pieced pumpkin and made that. I'm happy with how it turned out and I'm glad I'm keeping up with this quilt along. I also pulled some Santa Claus fabric that I've had for several years and I'm going to use it to make a quilt using the Irish Change pattern from MSQC. I'm going to make mine smaller than their version and just have 25 blocks in the quilt - 5 across and 5 down. I'll be happy to get to use this fabric. And I bought a digital pattern today for a snowflake quilt that just uses 2 fabrics and I'd like to work on that too. It will be fun to do some winter quilts. Hope you are all getting to do some crafting too Take care.

Good morning!
CJ- i am so happy to hear that you have several really nice sounding Christmas/winter projects planned. Its awesome how you are modifying the Happy Everything quilt- thanks for giving me the courage to do something like that should I ever encounter applique. I am sure your pieced pumpkin looks great and its so good that you can keep up with the quilt along. What colors are you I planning to. Use for the snowflake quilt?
Ruth, did you sleep well? Glad you slept late, sometimes a good night of sleep is so evasive. Yes that pecan pie bar recipe is a real winner and so easy. Good to hear that Dh enjoys it and its a great way to make a pecan (or walnut) pie without having to go through all the fuss of making a pie. I wonder how many different hat patterns you have made over the years!!! So you did not find the easiest hat pattern the easiest but you found one you like better. That’s great.
Had an appointment with the eye doctor yesterday….and a dinner party of sorts for bible study group. I do not function well in groups….tend to like one on one socialization more and in the evening I am tired….it was a pleasant enough evening. Honestly would have been happier if I stayed home but that is just me. Don’t I sound antisocial.
Got work this am- Ds is home and will help me move some stuff in anticipation of the work here at my home.
No crafting yesterday…but hope to get back to it today. Ginny

Ginny you were definitely missed yesterday and I see that you had a very busy day again. I bet you do great in groups. I'm like you though, I'm not social at all and don't like the idea of being in groups. When I used to go to the Caps for Kids group I did enjoy that but haven't been there in at least 10 years. Now I just take my hats to the senior center where they used to meet and drop them off. I wish I had kept a list of various patterns I made. A couple years ago, you all probably don't remember, but I was going to make a hat every day in May of that year. I do have a list and I think I missed only a couple days so that was about 28 or 29 patterns that month as I made a different pattern every day. Two years ago I made a different hat for each in my family here with about 10 extras so that was about 20 different patterns there also.
I'm almost done with what I thought was the more complicated hat. It's not easy to make something you don't want the other person in your household to see with them here all the time so it's taken me longer than anticipated. He always likes to ask what I'm making.
Yes I can't wait to see pictures of CJ's newest creations.CJ you are a marvel at making quilts. Yes that one you mentioned really is large. Beautiful too.Do you look at all your fabric stash and see in your mind what can be made with it?

Hey Ruth, indeed its a challenge to work on something when the person you live with is right there. Downright almost impossible! Do you have an alternate crochet project to jump into when you hear he is close by? Hope you can finish that hat quickly so you no longer have to keep it from Dh. I do not remember you making a different hat a day…wow that is quite an undertaking. Quite an accomplishment for sure and you almost made 31 hats. I do not know of anyone else who is such a prolific crocheter that would take that kind of challenge on.
Decent weather here….got a lot done in preparation for the mess that is coming to my house next week. Ds was home and helped me move some things….most of which I moved by myself except for a very heavy table and the airconditioner.
I did get to make the base for 4 more ornaments….think I will make one more for me and give the others as gifts.
Hope everyone had a good day, and got some crafting in! Ginny

Good morning all!!! How did everyone sleep last night?
I did start working on another ornament last night- and hope to get it done in a day or so. Will probably be crafting with little ones today and am looking forward to getting back to ornament making later. Construction starts at my house today…well actually destruction but it should go smoothly. Its next weeks craziness that has me concerned.
See ya later.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well Ginny - I hope everything goes well with the workers in your house and they can get things done as quickly as possible Ruth - Hope you can get that project done for your DH without him figuring out it's for him I haven't worked on any quilting for a few days, had other stuff going on. I'm not planning to make a full size Irish Change quilt with the Santa Claus fabric. I'm only doing 5 blocks across and 5 blocks down. I have the fabric pressed, I just need to cut it. I made some of the Jello Sugar Free Cook n Serve pudding today. I had found a few boxes of it last month, it's the chocolate one. I used 1% milk since I had to buy that the last time I was in the store - there wasn't any fat free milk available. I'm so used to fat free now, it seems strange to drink milk with any fat in it, but I figured using it for the pudding would be a nice treat. The weather here has been pretty nice - in the 50s and I think it might get in the 60s the next few days. Hope your weather has been good too. Take care everyone

well our weather is sure interesting.Last night at midnight it was still 50 degrees. We woke up to cold and snow. We had planned to do some shopping today but decided against it. The roads were probably fine but most people don't seem to remember how to drive in a little snow from year to year so best not to go out.
Ginny, I hope you had fun with the children and their crafting. What craft did you do with them today. I remember last week you said that dgd's favorite part of crafting was eating the snowmen. And I've been meaning to ask, did you ever get that package that was missing that was sent by WAlmart?
CJ, sometimes a person just has to take a day off here and there from crafting to take care of other things. It sounds like you're all set up to get started again when you're able to do so.
I did some cleaning out of drawers this morning and some general cleaning up. It amazes me how fast the drawers in my kitchen start to look a mess. After that I got back to crocheting and will again in a minute or two
Have a great evening everyone

No crafting for me today….DD’s house was a disaster so I cleaned and did laundry. Kids were good however….and they are here tomorrow.
CJ- glad you enjoyed the pudding, and occasional use of 1% milk should not bother you!! Looking forward to hearing how the irish chain turns out. (I just washed my double irish chain and put it on the quilt rack).
Ruth- 50 degrees one day and snow the next??? Good movie staying home….its like people totally forgot how to drive in the snow!!! Good that you are getting some drawers cleaned out.. hope you can get some crochet time in.
Have a good night all Ginny

We got some serious snow Tuesday night. It's well over a foot. Finally! Yesterday morning the physical therapist couldn't get into our driveway. My snow guy didn't show up at all yesterday, and on top of that, the road wasn't plowed either. Looks beautiful!

Sue a foot of snow sure is a lot!! (Weren’t you just commenting on that you had not gotten any snow?). Sorry that the snow plower could not make it and that the road was not plowed. Bet if all looked so peaceful however.
Phyl- good luck with the IBS diet. Think those who have it tend to really have to personalize their diets a bit…so proceed with caution and I hope it works out for you. Eating with IBS is a balancing act for sure, and what bothers you one day might not the next. Glad you got out for your pot luck at sew day. Sounds like a fun outing.
Brought the little ones back here to babysit…it was fun having them here. The day went so much more quickly here than it does at DD’s house. Guess I am just more comfortable here. Crazy day here….the downstairs is ready for the waterproofers on Monday. And my carpenter has committed to return in time for Ds’s room to have his heat reinstalled in 2 weeks. The kids were not interested in crafting….but they were very good. A good day with them.

Sue we didn't get anywhere near that amount of snow so please don't send it here.I'm sorry that your PT was not able to get to your home due to snow not being plowed but I'd bet the snow looks beautiful from inside your warm home.
Ginny, I'm glad the children were good for you even though they didn;t want to do a craft. Will you be babysitting tomorrow too. I do hope your workmen do a good job.
Phyl, it's great that you were able to get to sew day. I hope that IBS diet works for you. It's not going to be an easy thing to stick with but it's more of an elimination diet right...where you add things back gradually? If so then at least you know what you can have more variety again.
CJ, I hope you're having a good day and either working on quilting or something else you love to do.
I pretty much haven't done anything today but crochet. Tomorrow i have a little outdoor work to do if the weather cooperaties.

Ruth, gee you are brave! Don’t you have winter weather there?? What outdoor work are you planning on doing? Glad you got some crocheting time in. It sounds so peaceful.
Both cats slept with me last night..Do not think either really appreciated the work here yesterday, but they are in for 2 more days of a lot of noise and disruption next week. I really hope that the waterproofing project fixes it for once and for all.
Babysitting today.
See ya tonight! ginny
