CJ, I really, really love the lighthouse quilt. The fabrics are beautiful and go together so well plus you did a great job putting it all together
Ginny, you must go to bed very early and I can see why as early as you get up in the morning. I remember the few horrible times when I had to work a day shift which always started at 6am. I hate getting up and leaving right away so I had to get up at 4:30 and it was torture. Same a couple times when I was going to visit ds and had to get up at that same time because of having to be at the airport. I'm definitely a night person.
I did a little work in my craft room today moving yarn that was still in boxes to some fairly empty spots on the shelves and also piling them on top of yarn that was already on the very top shelf.I still need to use a lot before I can really get it all shelved and in drawers and out of my hallway and hidden nook in the living room
I hope you all have a great night with good restful sleep.
Oh and I was wondering if either of you ordered the so called free covid test kits. I did order because since we might possibly travel we might want to test if we feel sick. Plus since our tax money pays for them, might as well have them handy. I don't know how accurate they are but I got them anyway.
I've been working on the doll blanket. It will end up about 25x25 I think. I'm making it with Mandala cake yarn. I forget what the colorway is called but it has yellows, greys, tan and light brown and a little white and I'm doing what was called the cabbage patch stitch in another blanket I started a few years ago but haven't finished yet. Even my dh liked it.I'm using a small hook so it's a little slow going plus I had to spend a lot of time untangling the clumps that pulled out of the middle ans I was working.

Ruth, did you actually receive your covid test kits? I ordered them also, got a confirmation email regarding this but have not gotten them. An item on the news said that the test kits cannot be exposed to cold and might become useless. A concern I have is where the government bought them from. If I see that they were sourced from China several elected officials will hear from me regarding that. It does sound as though you are really in the trenches getting your yarn and craft room reorganized. its a labor of love, but will result in a much better environment in your home. Wonder if you will find projects or yarn you forgot that you had. (I know I would!). The cabbage patch stitch blanket sounds really adorable, and it must be if Dh likes it. It stinks that you had to pull clumps out of the middle of the yarn. Whatever happened to quality control in the yarn.
See ya later!

Ginny, I did receive the covid test kits and since you mentioned it I checked the box and it does say that is made in China!! Why in the world is our government buying covid test kits from China? ?

Ruth, I have already decided that if I receive kits and they are made in China, I will blast every representative LOUDLY- email, phone call, you name it- both state and federal. Its just wrong.

Yes they're definitely made in China I've done a lot of usual home chores today but not much else. I did make our version of fried cabbage which is easily reheated so tomorrow I'll cook a pork tenderloin to go with it and some sweet potatoes. Yes those clumps were really bad in that Mandala yarn. I have a lot of those and have used only one before but that one didn't have the clumps and tangles like this one which is called "Serpent". I have another cake of it and will see how it is. I finished the first cake for the blanket but it's still a little short so I'll use some of this second one to finish it. Ginny, have you been able to finish the playmat? CJ, what are you up to today? I saw a beautiful quilt block today on FB but now I forget what it was called. I'll have to see if I can find it

Yes, Ruth please see if you can find what block you thought was so very pretty. Its always good to see new blocks and ideas. Sorry to hear that you have had to do some chores around the house, but we do have to keep these homes straightened up a little bit, I guess!! Were you able to continue organizing your yarn?
CJ, how was your day? Bet you enjoyed the warmer temps we had today, assuming that it was also warmer in your area.
Slept poorly last night so I am going to wish everyone a good evening. Ginny

Hello Ginny - The playmat is so cute and I can see that it is "cat" approved Hope you are enjoying warmer weather like I am, and that you slept better last night. Ruth - Hope you were able to finish your blanket and that you find the other yarn is alright. Sue - Hope you are doing well. It has been milder here the last few days and sunny, so very nice for February. It's actually 64 degrees right now and it's almost 6 PM. We might get some snow on Sunday though. I went out yesterday morning to run a few errands so I didn't get any quilting done (I mostly do that in the morning). I didn't feel like quilting today, but this afternoon I did some more embroidery on the barn piece. I only have a small portion to finish, so maybe I can get it done this weekend. Then I'll have to read the pattern to see about making it into a wall hanging. Hope you all have a great weekend and get to do some crafting. Take care!

CJ, it was 50 here yesterday but then we woke to snow on the ground. I hope you don't get too much snow. Yes when we don't feel like crafting it means we need to take a break. You had a break then felt like doing embroidery and that is great. I hope making it into a wall hanging goes well.I'm sure it feels good to have the errands taken care of.
I didn't quite get the blanket done. Just didn't feel like doing a border on a blanket so I made a diaper cover to fit the smaller doll and today but ruffles along the bottom of a top I made last week and am starting a pair of pants to go with that top. I might do the blanket border this evening as it's only about 4:30 here.
Wonder what Ginny is doing today
Hello to Sue...did you get snow also?

A long day draws to a close.
CJ- the milder weather has been a welcome change for mid February, right? Think it made it into the low 50’s today although it was plenty cold this morning. Are you supposed to get much snow on Sunday? I have not really looked into the future too much to determine what it is supposed to be like. I figure you are well stocked so that if you get much snow you will have plenty of material to quilt with and have fun!! I am looking forward to hearing that you completed the embroidery and are very happy with how it came out. How large a piece is it? Do you have plans to hang it somewhere?
Ruth, you have so many projects going you make me dizzy. Hope that the afghan /baby blanket is a quick to finish project, it does seem as though you are almost at the end of that. Are you skipping a border on it, or just did not feel like working on the border today? Sounds like you are going to do that and put a border on it…..bet the doll clothes are so cute and also relatively easy to make because they are smaller. Are you using a small hook and finer yarn or regular worsted weight?
Got up- drove for 3 hours (special ed route), trained new drivers for 3 hours, then went and had my hair done. I ran two errands while in that town and got the play mat mailed. Think trimming threads might be my crafting today although I might embroider a bit in a few minutes. I finished up my day picking up the new microwave which I am hoping Ds can install tomorrow. Its been a busy day, but I pushed myself a bit so that I can get back to work in the family room (where the waterproofing took place). Its still not 100% back together and I want to do get that taken care of over the next 2 weeks. Guess you could say I am a bit tired of chaos.
Yes, I wonder how Sue is…..and hope Phyl is doing well G

Ginny, you accomplish more in a day than I do in six months...maybe even a year! I know you're happy to have sent off the playmat. Hopefully they will love it because it's really great. Yes after all that activity today probably the best thing is just to rest and if there's something good on tv do it. Yes for the baby clothes I'm using a #3 yarn and a 4mm hook for the larger doll and a 3.5mm for the smaller doll. And yes all I have to do on the blanket is a small border. I might do a few rows of fphdc alt with bphdc...makes a nice ribbing

Good morning and Happy Saturday!!
Ruth, I LOVE the look of bphdc and am sure that it makes a stunning (and not too challenging) border mixed with the fphdc .Good for you working with the finer yarns and hooks- I prefer a larger yarn and hook- its just me….my mom used to work with (either crochet or knit) with baby weight yarn and did magnificent work. I am sure your doll clothes are adorable and look so cute. While they are not large pieces, I hope that your granddaughters appreciate the effort that goes into a piece with such fine stitches.
Nope, I put the olympics on and did not craft at all. I figure today I will get to look at that fabric that came in the mail and because its all precut, I can hop right into sewing! Got some more straightening up to do today and go online and see if the one final piece of information I need for my taxes is there to print out. I already have an appointment set up to drop off my taxes in a week, hoping that I have all the information needed by then.
Guess I will get busy and move on to another cup of tea.
Ginny
