Hello Ruth - Hope you are having good weather and that you get to work on the crochet clothes. Ginny - I hope you can work on your quilt blocks, it's nice that the fabric is already precut. I look forward to seeing pictures of your blocks. It's in the 50s here today and then we'll get the snow tonight/tomorrow. Hopefully it will just be a few inches. Since it's been so warm for several days, I figure it will melt on the roads. The road in front of my house has sounded like a racetrack today, I think every motorcycle, truck and loud car has been up and down it I finished the embroidery piece last night, so I'm happy I met that monthly goal. I took a look at the pattern to make it into a wall hanging and I think I'm going to change things a bit. It has 4 rows of HSTs and I just don't feel like making all of those. As it is there would 20 HST that I have to make to have it look good. I'm going to try to find some fabrics tomorrow so I can start on finishing this. I also finished the other quilt top I've been working on for so long and was glad to get it done. It has a lot of seams so it was bulky sewing it through the machine. It has a western theme and the fabric line is called Home on the Range. I had liked the kit for a few years, but then last year I read a series of books that takes place in the West in a small town and on ranches and I decided to buy the kit to make this quilt as a memory of enjoying those books. I also have a hand quilting project ready to start on, I've really been wanting to get to that, but didn't want to start until finished the embroidery, so now I can. I was thinking that I might even consider hand quilting the Home on the Range quilt. It would be easy to just quilt about 1/4 inch around each of the long and triangle shapes. I'll have to see. Take care and enjoy your weekend

CJ, being that I live in the west and in an area where the deer and the antelpe play I absolutely LOVE that quilt! I think it will look great with the hand quilting around the shapes.that border fabric with the little horses is wonderful. I'm sorry that you have to endure all those loud vehicles running up and down your street. I've lived in a quiet neighborhood for so long I don't know what I'd do if I had to live in a loud place. I bet it really feels great to have met your quilting goals for the month. I really need to set and stick to some monthly goals. Ginny, it's great that your project comes with fabric already cut. That way you can get right to the fun part. I will be looking forward to seeing your completed blocks and eventually the completed quilt. I think you said you will get monthly shipments, right. It's so much fun looking forward to those things. I've been busy so far today so no crafting yet unless cooking is a craft. We do have a lot of leeway on what we consider crafting So my goal for today is to not get distracted looking at more patterns and get this border done. Oh and Ginny, yes back in "the day" baby yarn was all fingering weight. Now it's #3 weight. I still have some of that older baby yarn probably just like the one your mother used but them I'm probaby about the age your mother would be if still with us or maybe just a few years younger. I know you're quite a bit younger than me. Ok on to crochet

Ruth, Well my mom was born in 1925…. Do not think you are even close to that age!! Well, I think cooking is a craft…yes we do have a lot of leeway regarding our definition but seriously if you spent hours looking in a craft store for the perfect yarn, then I think that seems to count, right? Bet you crafted some wonderful food in your kitchen today and that the house smells incredible. Were you able to get the border done?
CJ- you do such beautiful work!!! The barn embroidery is just so pretty.. I love its simplicity and know that you will do an amazing job turning it into a wall hanging. I know you will be able to find just the right fabrics to turn that into a wall hanging (which I want to hear you actually hang up!).. the home on the range quilt is lovely!!! I can see how it has a lot of seams and know how awkward that can be to work with. (An ironing nightmare for sure). It sure turned out really really well. You seem to have a whole quilt shop worth of goodies to keep you busy!! Anyway - well done my friend and I am looking forward to seeing how you get that quilted.
Dd and DGS came over for a few hours- it was warm enough that we got a nice walk in and a good visit. Plus I had to get my Saturday chores done and a few other things straightened out. I did finally get to open the fabric for the PMQ. This month we actually make a block but, according to the directions, some months we make pieces of blocks. This should be interesting. I hope that tomorrow I will have time to start sewing that.
See you tomorrow. Ginny

Woke up to a winter wonderland here! Just a light snow that is supposed to last until late morning. Its very pretty and nice to see my little feathered friends out there feeding. Guess I will have to add snow removal to my chores this am, and the snowblower is not even here. The place I bought it from came to pick it up for repairs as we cannot get it started. They say it should not be too long to repair, so maybe I will get it back next week. It would be nice to have it done for another snow storm, if we are to get one. The weather for next week appears to be mild and not too cold.
Is anyone watching the Super Bowl tonight? I was invited to Jane’s To watch. I might go for a short time, as they invited me last year and I did not go then either. The game runs so late….and. Honestly the half time show this year is of no interest to me at all. Lovely snowfall out there- even the cats seem to be enjoying watching it fall.
Hope everyone is warm and comfortable, and Ruth is most likely sleeping! (Time difference). But she is up way later than I am- I am on eastern standard time. Ginny

Monday tomorrow….ugh. We are in for a real cold night, temps dropped dramatically. Think we got 3 inches of snow this am, but it was a pretty easy clean up.
I did get to work a bit on a half block of the PMQ. Its a bright quilt. The fabrics tend to get caught into the throat plate of the machine so I have to be careful about that. Other than that the directions seem to be ok. Off of. Watch the Super Bowl.. at least for a little bit.
Hope everyone had a great day Ginny

Yes I was definitely still sleeping when you posted that. I'm glad your snow came down lightly and is beautiful to watch. That makes it so nice to just look out at or even to go out and walk in it. Sorry about your snow blower but it's great the you're getting it repaired. Well I guess I am a little younger than your mother would be. I thought that since you're quite a bit younger than I am that your mother might be maybe just a little older if she were still here or even the same age. You mentioned she had diabetes so I thought that might have caused her to have an earlier death. I am watching the game right now.I hope you're enjoying it with your friends. I did get the blanet border done but I changed my mind on it and made a row of sc,, a row of hdc then a row of reverse sc.It's nice too that you were able to go for a walk yesterday with your dd and the baby. I'm glad it was warm enough.
I forgot to comment on your barn square, Cj. It's beautiful also. What colors will you have the rest of it in to complete the wall hanging? I know you said your walls are not conducive to hanging things but wondered if you're tried the commander hooks. I've never tried them myself but I know that lot of people use them. Are you a football fan?
Spent the morning doing some more organizing for the trip we might take later. Then dh cooked while I cleaned the kitchen so everything ended up cooked and yet the kitchen ended up clean too.
ok, back to the game
