Ginny, well I think that him texting you late last night is just another example of his irresonsibility. He must think that since you're his mother's friend that he can just ignore you and then, at his leisure, call and have you drop everything to let him come over to work for you. I like lowest prices on things but sometimes you just have to go with the more expensive in order to get things done and have them done correctly by someone you can trust. I hope you're having a good and safe day. Enjoy your embroidery.
CJ, ok we'll stop "bugging" you about hanging your quilts. I liked Ginny's suggestion of a pillow. Is that something you might like to do with that or other quiltops? I don't think I'd like to do blocks with small pieces. Is that blanket you're crocheting with the Bernat blanket yarn for you or are you gifting or donating. I've made several baby blanket with that yarn and I think I gave one to my oldest grandaughter. I made one for the grandaughter that has the almost 9 month old but haven't given it to her.I gave her a lighter one since the baby was born at the beginning of summer.
I took the last couple days off from crocheting doll clothes because I did decide to buy a doll the size of one of the dgds' doll ...figure I could adjust from there to the other doll... It wont' arrive until Friday so in the meantime I made a scrubby to use for my pans and also a hat for one of the grandaughters and am now going to work on a mosaic crochet makeup bag for her and I need to make her a water bottle carrier for the water bottle I bought her.So, I'll get those done then get back to doll clothes. Oh and I also started and almost finished a hat to add to my donation bag.I'll finish that today before it ends up in the UFO category.
I had plans to go out and take care of some business on Friday but it started snowing last night about 11 and it's still coming down so if the wind picks up and drifts it I'll stay home. It's supposed to be warmer Friday and the weekend but next week at least the first two days are to be very, very cold with high of 9 so I won't go out then either. I have a lot of things to get done in March that involve medical and business activities so a lot of going out.

Busy day for me-
Ruth did you get much snow? Staying home until you see how bad the winds will be seems to be a good idea. I cannot imagine getting out to run errands and then finding you were stuck! No fun at all.
CJ- I promise to back down from suggesting that you use some of your lovely quilting designs in your home. You do such lovely work! But you know what is best and how you want your home decorated .
Got some laundry done this am and a few other chores. Think I can lay off housework for a few days as I have been doing a lot. I did respond as graciously as I could to the irresponsible plumber- even read the text to my DSIL to be sure I did not sound irate. He thought it was a good text so it’s been sent. And I got some reading and embroidery done today.
See ya tomorrow! Ginny

Ginny, I don't know how much snow we got for sure because I haven't been outside but it doesn't look like too much. The bad part is that the wind is causing it to drift so I probably won't be going out until next week and not Mon or Tues because now they say high Tues will be 6 degrees. What I'm going out for is not something that must be done.
Today I've done more work than I've done in a long time. One of the things I did was work in the so called family room. Dh has a table saw in the middle of the room and it was kinda buried in "stuff" and in fact I found some vice grips he has been searching for after I cleaned it off. I think he become a hoarder if I let him. Not the ones who's home is filled with filth for sure because he's actually pretty much a germophobe. He just likes to have a lot of tools, fishing things, etc. Well he doesn't even get rid of clothes that he's had since I've known him most of which sure don't fit him anymore. But I can't say much about that although lately I've rid myself of many, many items of clothing.Anyway dh did let go of a few things in letting me put them in the donate bag and a couple in the trash.
I did start the mosaic makeup bag but didn't get far on it. I actually started it twice so I have two bases done which is fine because I want to make at least one for each of the girls both here and that don't live near.
That are you all up to today. I hope your both staying warm and enjoying your day.

Ruth - sounds like a productive day for you-cleaning and organizing. So your Dh is a collector- mine was also….and I guess there is no harm in more fishing tackle ! He does not seem to mind your yarn stash- hope that high winds calm down and you can get out if you want to.
Got lots of walking in today, but no crafting. Tried to take advantage of warmer temps and before the rain and high winds are a problem.
CJ - hope you had a good day! Ginny

Hello Ruth - Hope you don't have any problems from the snow and wind. We're having wind here today. Sounds like you have been very productive getting things done around the house, that always feels good. Ginny - Hope you don't get too much windy weather like we've had here. I had to go out yesterday morning to run some errands, so I was happy to get that done. This morning I cut some fabric for the FlapJack quilt along that starts today. I had enough of the fat quarters I used to cut fabrics for another quilt in the same type of pattern. Both of these will be small quilts - less than 50x50 in size, unless I add borders. It will just be a way to use the fabric and make some easy quilts. Here are few links to see the quilt patterns: www.fatquartershop.com/fat-eighth-flapjacks-quilt-pattern-free-pdf-pattern-fat-quarter-shopwww.diaryofaquilter.com/hope-valley-bricks-quilt - I'm not sure if I'll layout the pieces diagonally or vertically, but this gives you an idea of it Hope you all get to do some crafting and have a good day

CJ, I really like the bricks quilt. And yesterday I thought of you because it's the first time I've seen fat eigths. I'd love seeing the finished ones everyone makes because even though it looks like simple bricks I bet people could really be creative with this quilt. I never did find that quilt that was shown on facebook a few days back. I search though all the posts I could find and also did a search using "quilts" but no luck.
It's still cold today but warmer than the last two. I'm dreading the new week when we'll have -12 two nights in a row. I always worry about pipes. They've frozen before but luckily we were able to warm them in time.
Ginny, you do get in a lot of walking. I need to charge my fitbit because yesterday I'm sure I got in a lot of steps too but not outdoors.Today I'll probably just sit and watch people making knives and other edged things. I hope the walking you did was while you were doing something enjoyable.

Heavy winds. In my neck of the woods and the temps dropped by about 40 degrees this am.
CJ the sweet dreams quilt is so pretty…think that is the name of it, with the blocks. Forgive me but this web site or perhaps the Ipad is acting wonky.
Ruth, ya gotta charge that fitbit!!! Get those steps in.
Had a long day…cats had me up early and I have been going ever since. Got a nice long walk in with a friend…..and I will see you my friends in the morning! Ginny

Good morning everyone.
Ginny, the east coast storm they mentioned on tv must be in your area leading to those high winds and such a big drop in temperature. I'll be praying that the weather for you and also for CJ doesn't end up being too awful in your areas.
I'm enjoying this weekend weather here and will make up some foods today for the cold week to come.
I have such a busy schedule for March. There are so many places I have to go to take care of some business and also various appointments. probably after seeing our doctor we'll have more appointments to add to that list. I'll be taking my crocheting along for sure.Might as well make use of waiting time doing something constructive rather than wasting it just sitting there or reading magazines I'm not interested in.

Hello Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about those low temps you're going to have, I hope you won't have any problem with your pipes. Sounds like March is going to be very busy for you. I've taken crochet/embroidery with me when I knew I had to sit and wait in places, I agree with you that it's much more pleasurable to do that. Ginny - Hope you don't have any problems from the wind. I'm glad you were able to get a nice walk in with a friend. It is very windy here and in the 40s. I haven't been out yet, but need to go get the mail. At least it's sunny, so that's nice. I started piecing some of the Brick quilt this morning and have the blocks ready to sew into rows. I didn't start on the Flapjack quilt since Pat Sloan is going to do a video where she talks about her fabric selection for each block and I want to hear that. I also cut up the rest of the fat quarters from this group of fabrics I had bought for the Sweet Dreams quilt along and then decided not to use them. I cut 111 six inch squares and I'm thinking of making a quilt with 10 rows by 10 rows and I would use 100 of them. I could make the Oh My Stars (Pat Sloan pattern), but I'm not sure. I'll have to see how these blocks look when I lay them out. I'm hoping I have enough light/dark mixture to alternate rows, instead of just random squares everywhere. This is getting me 3 quilt tops out of those fat quarters, and some yardage. I still have yardage left since I bought extra thinking I'd use them in the quilt top and borders. It's pretty fabric, so I'm sure I'll be able to use it. I also did some hand quilting today, and finished 2 more blocks (16 total blocks) on this piece. This leaves me 10 blocks to quilt, so I still hope I can finish that by the end of the month. I have to take advantage of these days when I feel productive with my quilting, since I have many where I don't get anything done Take care

CJ, it sounds like you're keeping very busy and are very productive. 110 blocks is a LOT of blocks and it sounds like you have a great plan for using them. I will love seeing them when you're done. Yes I bet you can get those hand quilted blocks done by the end of the month. And I know the feeling of not feeling like doing anything on your crafting project. I've had a lot of days like that even though it sounds like I get a lot done.
I got the doll I ordered today so I'm ready to start making doll clothes again. I will finish this mosaic makeup bag first though and a water bottle holder both of which will be for my grandaughter who's birthday was Feb 3rd. I bought her and also her younger sister a nice water bottle so I gave one with the holder I made to the other grandaughter on her birthday and now it's this one's turn to get hers.
I have food simmering on the stove for a few days. It reminds me of when Rachael Ray had her program that was called 5 In A Day or something like that. She would make an entree for each of the next 5 days. I'd bet she didn't take those home and actually eat them in the next 5 days. She probably has a huge refrigerator even though there's only her and her hubby...if they're still together. I wouldn't have room in my fridge to put that many days worth of food that was already prepared.

Ruth, glad that the doll arrived today so now you can get back into the business of making doll clothes. Hope that it is the right size making your doll clothes crocheting easier. I was always amazed by those cook once- eat for 5 days articles. All the food looked like it tasted the same for the whole week.- and I am sure whatever you had simmering on the stove smelled and tasted great and was anything but boring!
CJ- oh dear.110 squares is a lot!!! How many different fabrics are in that? Have fun using them up and laying out a pattern. Glad you got some hand quilting done- so peaceful and calming.
Got a nice walk in today and spent some time working on my embroidery. G

This doll is supposed to be a child's toy for age 2 and over but it's so heavy that a child that is very young would never be able to carry it around but it will suit it's purpose for me. I haven't measured it yet but it does seem pretty long.I, just glancing at it, looks as long as the collector doll I was using. However it will still work. The porcelain doll has a cloth boday so didn't work well for using to make clothing.I'm still working on that makeup case. I was making a mistake of the mosaic. I am running short on time to get some things done so I shouldn't be wasting time but it is a gift too so I'll work on it today or maybe tomorrow when I have to hole up in the "winter quarters" because it will be so cold.I have to do a little organizing today to get all the right yarns in there and the things I need to go with the yarn
CJ, let us know if you find some great quilts on slow sewing Sunday. I know you'll be keeping yourself busy sewing up blocks.I hope your weather and Ginny's isn't too bad.
Ginny, enjoy your day. You're so faithful in your walking. I need to get busy with some walking with Leslie.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you enjoyed your walk and that you were able to do some embroidery. Ruth - I'm happy you received the doll and it will work for you to make the clothes. I liked that first cooking show that Racheal Ray did called "30 Minute Meals", she used to use "normal" foods and was more my style. I used to love cooking shows, but I'm not a fancy food eater and that's what most of them seem to what to make anymore. I haven't checked out the Slow Sunday stitching blogs, hope to do that soon. It is sunny here today and the winds have died down, but it's only in the low 40s. My furnace is acting crazy again, so I've spent a lot of today upstairs where it is very warm - downstairs is cold. I decided to go ahead and try to finish the 2 quilt tops I was making with the Moonstone fabric fat quarters. I finished the 2 tops, and I'll just have the Flapjack quilt to make over the next few weeks. I did not enjoy making these quilts. I like some of this fabric, but much of it I just don't like combined together. I've learned another personal lesson - don't buy fat quarters for a quilt along thinking you'll like to use it to follow along with a quilter also using it I thought it would be easier to use this for the Sweet Dreams quilt along since Pat Sloan is using it, but I often don't care for her fabric combinations. So I was just back to the same point of trying to figure out what fabrics to use and not being happy about them - that's why I scraped them for that quilt along. I've used all the fat quarters now and just have some extra yardage, some of which I'll use for a border on the flapjack quilt. The larger quilt with the blocks could really use an inner and outer border, and I have fabric for that, but right now I really don't like the quilt and don't want to work on it anymore. I may add some later. I ended up only using 81 of the squares I cut - and laid it out in a 9x9 design. I like the one with the bricks better, and did add a small inner and larger outer border and I'm fairly happy with how that turned out. This is one of those days when I could walk away from quilting and just stop doing it. I get them from time to time and I was thinking that I really need to stop the quilt alongs unless I love the fabric I'm using and only make quilts with fabric I like. Forcing myself to use this fabric just wasn't fun. Live and learn Take care

CJ, I like the brick quilt better also but you did a great job on making the smalll squares putting colors together that work well together. Overall it may not be a quilt that people would strenuously rave about but it still is very pretty. Yes I think that all crafters learn as we go on with our craft or crafts. We make mistakes and sometimes feel that we just want to stop whatever that craft is but we learn from our mistakes and never give up. We learn that certain fabrics or, in my case, certain yarns are not to our taste.
It turned out that I was right about the doll. I measured it and it is 18 inches. It was supposed to be 16 inches. But, as I said, it will work.
