CJ-the sweet dreams blocks are pretty-I am glad you will be making them! The star blocks are nice. Good for you getting to Joanns. They usually have such pretty fabric out for spring!!!!
Jury duty is a hassle, and I do not blame you for being stressed by it.
Now my keyboard is acting strange.See ya tomorrow

Not sure what was going on with my keyboard. One of my cats likes to walk across it to remind me of his existence and the cats are still reminding me that I was a bad person to go away for a few days (bad person in their view, even though they had the daily care they needed from my Ds. Anyway, its fine this am, so I wonder if it was software.
I got nowhere crafting yesterday, but I did stop in to see Jane after my errands because I was right by church. So that could sort of count as crafting. I hope I can get to my PMQ today. Oh wait….guess I did get some crafting in. While I was gone, DD tapped my maple trees which I checked several times. I am currently boiling down maple sap to make a tiny amount of maple syrup. I am gonna court that as crafting and have the sap boiling down some more.
I know I am babysitting two little ones today (DD#1’s two youngest) while she goes to the doctor. That is this afternoon.

Hello It's only in the 30s here today, after 70 degrees yesterday. We're getting some rain too, but fortunately no snow. I finished making the two Block #8 of the Sweet Dreams quilt along and I'm fairly satisfied with them. It's been a hassle with this quilt along trying to get the right arrangement of colors and lights and darks. I wish we were just doing the 9 blocks for the center, but there is a whole large outer border to go! I've decided I'm not going to make all 14 blocks in the outer border. I'll make some of them just a full block of fabric - and I'm using panel pieces on the lighthouse version. Ginny - I hope you were able to get to your PMQ today. How neat to make your own maple syrup, I hope that turnes out well. Also how the babysitting went well. Ruth - I hope it hasn't been too cold there. Sue - I hope you are doing well and your weather hasn't been bad either. Take care everyone

CJ, you're weather is getting to be too much like ours...wide fluctuations. 70 one day and 30's the next is a huge disappointment. I'm glad you were able to get those blocks done and are happy with them. It's great that you realize you don't have to do things exactly as the pattern designer suggests. You are very creative and able to change things so that they're pleasing to you.
Ginny, I bet those grandchildren were happy to see you. I hope they were good for you. I also hope that you'll be able to work on the PMQ.
I did get the zipper sewn in. It's not the best job in the world but it zips. I should put a lining in it to cover my bad stitching but I don't think I will. Next time I make one I'm going to make a lining and sew the zipper to that them put the whole thing in the bag and sew it in place. I used to be pretty good at putting in zippers. After I got done with the zipper I started a bag that's designed to hold face scubbies. The pattern is for both the bag and the scrubbies so I'll do that this evening.(maybe)

Ruth, glad you were able to get that zipper in! I am sure it looks fine. Never thought of making a bag to hold face scrubbies…and the scrubbies themselves. Do you use that special textured yarn for that?
CJ- same thing here- temps fell like a rock. I love how you are secure enough in your own fine quilting ability to leave a pattern aside and modify it to work for you. Sounds good to me and I am sure it will look great.
Ugh. Worked this am…and then did some simple errands. DD came over earlier than I anticipated….the kids were pretty good but then DD#2 and her DH and DGS stopped over. A busier day than I anticipated. Gonna sew tomorrow!!! G

Ginny, some people do make washcoths and face scrubbies from the scrubby yarn. I recently make one to use for my dishes and it really doesn't scrub well at alll. I was always leary of making the face scubbies with scrubby yarn because I thought it would be too harsh but after using the one I made for the dishes I think face scubbies made of it would be great for exfoliating. But no, I'm making these face scrubbies with cotton yarn. Most patterns do call for cotton yarn. I do think that if they were made of the scrubby yarn they would be great for teenagers with acne/
Well, Ginny, you know you're loved if everyone is always stopping by to see you. Sewing can wait.Enjoy the grandchildren's visits while you can. They soon get older and have other interests.
So far I haven't made much progress on the bag and scrubbies. I'll work on it now and see how far I get. I did a little earlier then decided to do something else. I really need to get my crocheting plan more organized.

It looks like everyone is having a busy day. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your day.
Ginny, i meant to say that I'm glad your keyboard straightened itself out whatever it was doing.I hope your weather is not too bad.I heard another storm is coming through the east.
CJ, I imagine you're busy working on blocks and picking out fabrics. I hope your weather is not too bad either.
I finished the face scrubby bag and the scrubbies themselves. I had just enough to make the drawstring. There was maybe an eigth left after tying yarn off and that's it. People on crochet groups call that "playing yarn chicken" and I won by a hair. Now I just have to sew the buttons on the water bottle holder that will hold the straps on then I'll be done with that grandaughter's gifts.I have a few crochet things I want to get done by the end of March so I think I have plenty of time for those and the other things I have to get done by then. I made lists while watching my favorite tv show.(well I actually have several sets of these same lists but I have too many notebooks and keep forgetting which one the lists are in) So I need to organize my notebooks too.

Organized??? With creative genius- well why bother? Ha ha ha. I can see if you are making items for a deadline that you need some structure to what you are working on. Guess that makes sense, Ruth. I do hope that whatever your goals are you can get everything accomplished. Cotton yarn is nice to work with, I have made dish cloths using it and enjoyed the process (sugar and cream might be a brand?). Sorry that the scrubby yarn does not work well on dishes. What a bummer. Hope that you are able to make good progress on the bag and scrubbies.
So I finished the first block for my PMQ and made it most of the way through the second. The directions are ok but I am struggling with the dimensions - the pieces do not fit as well as I had hoped and I have done a perfect 1/4 inch seam (got a 1/4 inch seam foot to assure that). One of my cats decided he needed to help me at the machine, but it’s tough to finish sewing with a large cat in the way. I know he missed me and just decided that tomorrow am I will get up early and finish the block, plus a repair of a sweatshirt that I was asked to do for a friend. Really only about a half hour of sewing maximum.
I dunno what happened yesterday….actually both DD’s had doctor appointments with the same doctor (how funny is that!) and that got both into town for that. Last week was the second anniversary of Dh’s passing and I think it also hit my kids hard. Think it was important for them to see me.
I got a bunch of housework done today, so tomorrow I really have a quiet day. Gotta work on material for Bible study and I hope to see Dd#1. The plumber came to complete the repair on the heater (which started acting up when I was visiting family). And thankfully it is fixed. (Not cheap however). We got about 2 inches of snow and then it rained so it was a heavy clean up. Ds did the driveway, I cleared the deck and some of the back. Hope that it all melts where I did not clean it well.

Ginny, that really is funny that both your daughters had an appointment with the same doctor and on the same day. So were you able to babysit the children of both your daughter's? I'm sorry to hear that your heater had an issue which was costly. Didn't you just get that heater? With that 1/4 inch foot of your machine it must be that the pattern isn't right somehow. I'm glad you liked how it turned out. I'm sure the anniversary of the loss of your husband was hard on your children but also on you. I knew it was sometime around now but forgot exactly when it was that he passed.
CJ must be keeping busy today. I hope you had a good one, CJ!
I'm working on a doll hat right now. For the size I went by an online chart but it looks like it's going to be a little small. It's very stretchy though so I think it will work. I'm making it in pink and will put bunny ears on it and make either a sweater to go with it or a diaper cover since dgd #3 of ds' family asked for diaper cover sets for her doll.

It sure was not planned that both DD’s were at the same doctor the same day.. I only babysat for Dd#1’s 2 youngest…..DSIL. (DD#2) was here and stayed with DGS#3 while Dd was at the doctor. Boy that all sounds confusing. So I did not see all the grandkids yesterday…just the younger ones. The main heater for the house is what had an issue. It is 13 years old and we have had to replace a few more minor parts in the past 2 years. I had no idea that a furnace like that has a damper, and it does. It was the damper that had to be replaced. They charged a full hour for the repair, and he was only here for a half hour - but the owner of the business came here one evening last week (think it was Friday night) when the damper first failed. He made some quick adjustment to the damper that night so that we would have heat and did not charge me for that time.
I was with my DBIL and his wife (DBIL being Dh’s older brother) on the anniversary of Dh’s passing. Think it was good for me to be with them- although my kids might have rather I be here, I think it was more normal for me to be with DBIL and his wife. Normal for me, what is good for one person might not be good for the next.
Ruth, the doll hat sounds adorable- and bunny ears sound so sweet. With any luck the yarn and pattern are stretchy enough and will work out well for you and fit the doll just perfectly. How diligent you are making small pieces like that and the diaper cover or sweater set. Bet DGD will love it when its all done!!
Got no crafting done yet. Today was a day of interruptions. DD came over this am (this was expected). It was good to see her.
I hit one issue with the PMQ block last night, beside the cat who was helping me sew. Think I might shorten one of the sections a little bit so it fits better. Gotta take a look at it now and see what works out or I think will work out.
Hope everyone is staying warm and getting some crafting in. And hope that Sue is doing ok!! Miss hearing from her. Ginny

Hello - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad your heater is fixed and that you were able to be with family on the anniversary of your DH's passing. Hope you can get the PMQ quilt block worked out. Ruth - The hat with the bunny ears sounds so cute! It will sure look pretty on a doll. Sue - Hope you are well. It's been cold here the last few days, in the 30s. I'm hoping for some milder weather this coming week. I haven't worked on any quilting for a few days. I really don't like the fabric I've been using in these last few quilt projects, so it doesn't make me want to finish them. But I have the Flapjack quilt pieces all ready to put together and there are only 15 blocks in this small top, so I hope I can get it done soon. I'd love to make this quilt in some pretty bright colors or just something other than what I'm doing it in I have been checking out some quilting blocks and Facebook pages, so that's been my crafting. Hope you all get to do some crafting this weekend. Take care

CJ- so this flapjack quilt is your practice quilt- perfect the technique and pattern and then keep your eyes open for the perfect fabrics that make you happy!! Glad it is a small top, so it will not take up a lot of your time and effort. And its hard to inspire yourself with a project that you are less than enthusiastic about. Did you find anything cool on FB or the quilting pages?
Duh. I assembled the block incorrectly and am not ripping out some of it. Its not a disaster, but is what happens when I sew when I am tired, as I was last night. As I have now sort of figured out the directions and what this block is supposed to look like, it will be easy to put it back together tomorrow..
Think this week is a gradual increase in temperature- still winter but not super cold. Think that will make CJ happy and help our heating bills

Hello Ginny and CJ, and Sue I hope you'll stop in.
Ginny, I know the feeling.Anytime I try to crochet when tired is when I make the mistakes. I know you'll find a good solution and end up making a beautiful quilt. I'm glad the weather will get a little warmer. It's going to be quite warm this coming week which is why I'm going to try to get a lot of my business taken care of during the better weather. Are you planning to go to the home of your dd#1 so you can see the older children soon. I bet they miss you and am sure they don't get to see you real often since they are in school. I remember when I first came to this thread and your dgs #1 was only 18 months old and now he's in school. These children grow up too fast!
I spent the day going thur paperwork and trying to get everything together that I want to take to put in the safe deposit box. It's amazig how fast I can forget where I put things. I just had the one paper just last week.. It's been on the shelf over my bed for probably a year. I moved it last week to clear the shelf and it's not where I thought I put it. Hopefully I can find it tomorrow because I'd love to go to the bank on Monday.I seem to have lost the title to my SUV so have to look in the SDB to see if I put it there but my other titles are in my title folder in my file cabinet so that should be there too. IF it's not in the SDB then I'll be making a trip to the title office.
Oh the hat is a little too small. I tried it on the doll's head today and had to really stretch it to get it on and I think it could pop off anytime. It doesn't take long to make one and maybe they have a smaller doll it will fit. A few weeks ago I made a couple other doll items that turned out really small so if those grandaughters don't have a smaller doll I may buy another. If I do I'll make sure to smell it before I buy. The odor of the baby powder on this one is still just as strong
Well after sorting thru papers all day and getting frustrated because I couldn't find what I wanted to find I'm tired so I may do a little crocheting or maybe just reading. See you all tomorrow. Hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day for this week's thread already

Good morning, Ruth- being outside is a harsh environment, but I wonder if you put that smelly doll outside if the odor would be reduced. Just a thought. Indeed getting the official papers put together and stored properly is an ordeal. I sort of went through that a few times and have learned my lesson. Dh and I got a fireproof box which locks and put our documents in that. A few months ago I cleaned it out a bit, seeing that I had some documents in there that were no longer needed. Yes its frustrating work and I am glad that you finished up your day reading or crocheting. What a shame that the hat for the doll is a bit too small. Oh, I hope you find that vehicle title.
I will see all the grandkids this week- but the older ones are in school so it will not be a long visit. I did get that block taken apart and will flip the one section to get it right and put it back together sometime today. Looks like I have a milder week this week- nights are still cold but the daytime temps are average winter temps. Nice- and the areas on the bottom of my driveway that did not melt yet should.
BBL Ginny
