CJ, I really love that video. I also went to the other link you posted and saw the beginning rail fence video and it really interests me a lot. Later in the year I may have to try that. Thanks for posting the links
I have to get busy on that market bag and finish it today. Like Ginny, I did some housework. Now for crocheting

I did watch the delectable mountain video. How cool and how easy to make! Thanks for finding that and posting it. Will check out the other video later on….as far as a split rail quilt (which I have made before) the one I am going to make is a quilt as you go. I will have to find the directions for it (which are available online) and post a link for it. I will stick with the directions that I have as I. Hope to actually use this quilt and will need to have it quilted. Quilt as you go will be perfect.

That quilt as you go that you're talking about, Ginny, sound like just the thing to make. I wouldn't be trying it for awhile but at some time I'd like to try so whenever you find it, and, as I said absolutely no hurry, but I'd be happy to see the video. Did you get to ay embroidery last evening?
Well it was very cold during the night and will not get very warm at all today but starting Saturday it will be much nicer weather and also all next week
I found out what my problem was with the market bag by looking at a different person's video of a similar pattern and saw what the designer of the pattern I'm using meant by her directions. The bag I made is nearly done but is not the way it's supposed to be. It's usuable though and my ddil will not even know that I had to improvise.I just need to finish the handle and I'm done. I may make another if I end up having time. Yesterday I was thinking that I had only 2 weeks to reach my goals for March. I finally realized that I actually have three weeks but still have a lot on my list that need completing. Some crochet and some other things I need to finish.
Have a great day everyone. I hope you have a good one and are able to accomplish all you wanted to do today.

Hello Ginny - Hope you like doing a QAYG split rail quilt. I see a lot of quilters using that method with large quilts. Ruth - I'm glad that your weather is going to get better soon and that you were able to improvise on the market bag. Sue - Hope you are well. It was sunny here today and in the mid 40s, so not too bad. Looks like we may get some snow on Saturday, but it could just end up being rain. I finished making the 80 half square triangles and they are pressed and ready to join together for the borders on my Sweet Dreams quilts. I hope to work on that tomorrow. Take care

quiltingdigest.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/jellyrollqayg.pdfThat is the link for the split rail quilt- I figure there are also videos but I am using these printed directions. The next step for me is to make sure I have all the fabric- which I bought from missouri several years ago. I have marked the pattern with what fabric I bought for each portion, I know the fabrics are still available, so I have to make sure I did ok keeping them separated from my other fabrics. I have moved sewing areas a few times in the past and sometimes misplace fabric. When will I ever learn. I have a qayg book- but saw how a spit rail really lends itself to using a jelly roll. CJ- you had a productive day, cutting 80 HST’s and getting them pressed and ready hope you can get both borders done tomorrow. Like you, snow or a rain snow mix is predicted for Saturday. Here its gone from 1-3 inches, to 3-5 inches and now back to 1-3 inches. It is supposed to get much colder Saturday, at least here. Hope that your heater is behaving itself and makes it through the weekend just fine. Ruth, no one will notice that the market bag is slightly different from the original pattern. Love how you set goals for yourself….and I hope that you can get done what you want to this month. Before we know it, we will be dealing with outdoor issues…like weeding and gardening. (Ugh). Hope your weather warms up. Going to BJ’s tomorrow. Got some supplies to pick up for myself and a friend and Dd. Have a good night all G

Got another round of snow tomorrow..and that will give me the time to really straighten out my sewing room closet and find 2 pair of scissors and some fabric for the split rail quilt.
Hope everyone slept well last night Ginny

Quiet day here…..nothing for me to report as I was out a lot today. Looking forward to a nice snow day tomorrow and staying home. Looks like the clocks go to daylight savings time tomorrow night, which I am not a big fan of cause I lose an hour of sleep. Hope everyone had a good day! G

Luckily for me I don't lose an hour's sleep because There's no reason I need to wake at a certain time. I like to have it light for that extra hour at night so that I don't have to worry anytime that I go out that it will get dark before I get back home.
I did a little cooking and helped dh with some things. I did spend time before he woke up looking at yet more crochet patterns and to show just how ridiulous that is I'll tell you about one of my lists. I decided that since I probaby have at least 1000 blanket patterns in my online folders that I would make a list of only the very best ones and label it for blankets to do this year. Well I now have 126 blankets on that list also. Of course I'll be lucky if I get 10 done in the remaining part of this year.
I did finish the market bag and am thinking of making my dil a double end pot holder that's to be used when you need to use two hands to take a casserole dish or baking pan out of the oven. I got the two yarns I want to use but didn't get started yet.
Enjoy the rest of your evening Ladies and get a good night's sleep

Happy Saturday all!!
Ruth, so proud of you whittling down the big list of so many afghans to only a bit over 100. Those are the best of the best! Hope that you can get as many of those done as you like. Glad you finished the market bag, is this the first market bag or the second?(forgive me for not remembering). That double ended pot holder sounds like it will be a super great idea. I bet DDIL is active in many church pot luck dinners, plus her family is large. Bet she cooks a lot. Do you use a special yarn for a potholder?
Well I have snow falling- have heard everything from 2-7 inches of snow fall, but its supposed to end around 4, then get cold. Will help Ds with the shoveling. He says its a pretty light snow, but its supposed to be very cold tonight. Funny that in 2 days it will be 50 degrees for the whole week and it will all melt.
Had the stove installer here this am to put a new fireproof mat under my stove. So now its all done and I am enjoying the cheery flame on this cold and snowy day.
Hope to get upstairs shortly and look for fabric and scissors….its a lazy day for me for sure. Ginny

Hello Ginny - Hope your snow isn't too bad. I'm so happy for you that you are getting to enjoy your stove Ruth - Finishing 126 blankets this year is a piece of cake for you The pot holder sounds like it would be useful. Sue - Hope you are doing well. It's cold and windy here and we did get some snow. Looks like an inch or so, the roads are just wet. I see on radar that there is more snow out to the west, so I guess I'll get a little bit more this afternoon. We had some really heavy rain this morning that woke me up before 7:00 and I never really could go back to sleep. I finished putting on the next border of my two Sweet Dreams quilts (lighthouse and floral) and I'm fairly satisfied with them. They are a few places where the seams don't match and that's my fault for not measuring before I put on the inner border when I could have fixed things. I'm fine with leaving it as it is. I was working on some of the delectable mountain blocks this morning and after making six blocks to go with the two I already had made, I see that the first two are larger than the six I made I'm not enjoying working on these, so I'm going to put them aside. I like the block/pattern, but I'd rather use different fabric. Take care and have a good day!

Good evening!
CJ- what I saw from the weather forecast was that the Beltway area was supposed to get around an inch of snow.. Hope that your temps are warm enough that you do not have to clear the snow at all and that it melts all by itself. Happy for you that you finished the two sweet dreams quilts. Do you prefer one over the other?? they are both so pretty but look so different with the different fabric selections. It is absolutely no issue at all that they are not perfect. No one is judging them but you and as long as they make you happy, that is all that matters. I have done that too- seen something that could have been fixed, but sometimes it is more work than its worth. I know they look great!!! Totally agree with your assessment of the delectable mountain blocks. Put them aside…and figure out what fabric you have that would make your heart sing and use that fabric.
Who knows how much snow I got? My guess is 4-5 inches. Ds and I did most of the clearing- he did more than I did but at least the car is cleared enough so that going to church tomorrow is not challenging. It was pretty snowy and windy for a few hours and I am blessed that we kept power. Had a TON of birds at the feeder today. Poor little birds sure needed their seed. And I got some housework done, pretty much what I usually do on Saturdays. I am always amazed at the amount of dirt that I vacuum up each week.
The man who installed the stove was here this am to install the correct fireproof plate (the wrong one was ordered). He was in and out of here in about a half hour- Ds was able to help him lift the stove to make it go much easier. (I actually helped a little bit also). The stove has been running all day….I have left it on thermostat and it is doing a great job keeping the room comfortable. It really cheers me up to see it on, a warm and cozy flame in a room that was never heated before.
I did get upstairs to look for my scissors and fabric. I found my old “good” fabric scissors-,, not the new pair nor the pair of snips that are still missing. But I am happy to have found the old pair. Better than nothing. Now I will find these two pair of scissors in some illogical place that I thought was logical at the time. I did find my fabric! Yay. It was pretty easy to find also.. I got started cutting the 10 1/2 squares of batting. Its a great project to use up smaller pieces of batting. So I did actually get some quilting time in. Think tomorrow I will work on the PMQ fabric that came the other day. I do not want to let myself get behind on that.
Hope that each of you had a great day! Sue, have not heard from you in awhile, and hope all is well Ginny

Ruth, so very frustrating…I always wish there was a back button to restore what was lost. I feel really bad for you that your post was lost.
Could have slept better last night, but it was not a horrible nights sleep. I would have stayed in bed this morning also, but knew if I did not attempt to reset my body clock to the change in time.
Got a cool day here, so not much snow will melt. See ya later!

Hello Ruth - Sorry you lost your post, I've had that happen and it's very frustrating. Hope you are doing well today. Ginny - I'm glad your snow wasn't too bad and that you are enjoying the stove. Hope you are enjoying making the quilt blocks, sounds like you'll ready for some QAYG. Sue - Hope you are well. It's still cold here today, but sunny. Looks like most of the snow is melting and fortunately it melted on the cars so I don't have to clear them off I had an idea of what to do with the Delectable Mountain blocks. I took the 2 that were larger and just joined them together and added that block to my bag of orphan quilt blocks. I sure hope I can make a quilt out of some of them some day. I took the other six blocks, joined them together by twos and made a table runner with a few borders (picture attached). I'm happy with this and it turned a frustrating project to something good. I'll be ready now to work on the String Bean blocks, and I already have all the strips cut so they should go together quickly. I'm attached pictures of my two Sweet Dreams quilts - don't look too closely at the seams I'm also attached a picture of the lighthouse panel that I'm going to be cutting into eight blocks and using them in the Sweet Dreams lighthouse quilt in place of some pieced blocks. The outer border of this quilt has 14 blocks, so I'll use these eight blocks and only make six pieced blocks. Hope you are all having some nice weather today, relaxing, and doing some crafting. Take care

CJ, that delectable mountain table runner is absolutely perfect!! I also really likethe other two you posted and I think that panel cut into squares and used as a border will really make the quilt great. Anyone who loves lighthouses will love that for sure. I'm glad the snow on your vehicles melted so that you didn't have to go out and clean them off. I had the same thing happen yesterday. There was a lot of snow on mine but it melted yesterday.
Ginny, I'm glad they got your stove completely done and that you were able to really enjoy that room and the warmth and coziness brought by having a stove in here. I hope you were able to work on either the square you received the other day or the quilt as you go.
I'm kinda tired because I've been cooking and baking and not even that much. I think it was mostly getting the kitchen back in order that tired me out.
Ginny, you asked a couple times what yarn I use for potholders...well I use cotton. This last one was the Peaches 'n Creme you can buy at WAlmart and some Bernat handicrafter that I bought online awhile ago. Both are kind of rough cotton so are best used in something like this
