When I got up this morning the weather was awful...overcast and about three inches of snow on everything. This overcast business and no sun started yesterday just after I said here that it was bright and sunny. Now though the sun is out and it's warming and snow is slowly melting.
I did work on the c2c blanket but am having trouble staying focused because there are so many things I want to crochet and so many things I need to do.I have to finish a couple of the bilbocathes today and I'll take one with me to our dr app't which is at some horribly early time of the day.
I hope you are all having a good day and I'll bbl

Ruth, like you I have some chunky yarn that needs projects to use it up….and I do not want to buy more yarn to use up what I have. (What sense does that make??). How neat that the ball for the bibliocatch is also crocheted…sounds like a fun game!!! Think I will go check out HL’s and Joanns web sites to see who has batting on sale. Think that tomorrow I will head out and and do a few errands, and perhaps pick up the batting on the way. Ginny

Problem solved….Joanns had 20% off everything and $1.99 shipping so I ordered the batting. (code 20shamrock). The batting I want is out of stock in the store but in stock online- and I have a gift card. Works for me!

Hello Ruth - That crocheted game sounds cute and like it would be fun for kids. Ginny - I'm glad you found some batting on sale. Sue - Hope you are well. It's raining and colder (in the 50s) here today. Yesterday it was up to about 70, so I went outside and worked on cutting up an old wooden workbench that my father had. It's rotting and falling over, so I wanted to try to saw apart the boards that were still in one piece. I got a lot of it cut and put into large contractor bags and they are out for trash pickup tomorrow. I did leave some of the boards there, since I get carpenter bees every spring/summer that like to bore holes in the wood. Hopefully they'll still use the boards even though they are on the ground. I hated to take away their habitat since they never bother you when you walk past them. I finished the next block (blocks and borders) for the lighthouse version of Sweet Dreams and I'm fairly happy with it. That outside border is really a deep gold color even though it almost looks orange. I have to measure out fabric for the floral version before I start cutting to see if I'm going to have enough to use to finish that quilt top. I think I have enough fabric for the lighthouse version. Hopefully I can get the floral version done over the next few days. I do like Pat Sloan's quilt alongs, but she tends to like to use scraps or fat quarters, and I prefer using yardage, and since the quilts are mystery quilts it's difficult to know if you have enough fabric. Also trying to figure out what fabrics to use in each place is stressful sometimes. I should stick to doing patterns that call for yardage Take care

Ginny, I'm glad you were able to find the batting you need and that it was on sale and will be shipped directly to you. Joann's seems to take quite awhile to ship things so hopefully you will get it soon. The bilbocatch was supposedly used by Jane Austen to play with her nephews. The name, they claim, means ball on a string and is from the French bilboquet. Jane Austen of course didn't use a crochet one but one made of ivory.
CJ, you have created yet another wonderful quilt top. I love how you put the blocks all together. If I made quilts I'm pretty sure I'd prefer yardage also. That's how they taught us in that one series of classes I went to.

Ruth, more French!!!!biboquete! My phone seems to be acting strange so forgive misspellings. Did you get much crocheting in today? I know you have a lot of day left and stay up much later than I do. Bet you still get some hooking time in.
CJ , you did a great job getting that border on the sweet dreams quilt! Hope you are pleased with it- you should be!!!. this quie

Ginny, my laptops do that too...misspell that is. And I just plain do a lot of typos too.As far as crochet is concerned I just got started with some about an hour ago. I spent a lot of time visiting with dh and thought afterward that I could have been crocheting while talking.I'm working on the bilbocatch but a new one. (I didn't finish the first one yet but forgot where I put it.

Well my phone did all kinds of wonky stuff and I gave up. Anyway- CJ I hope that you can figure out the border for the floral sweet dreams quilt with the fabric that you have. I figure you will do just fine and find something that works, or perhaps on your next trip to Joanns you will find the perfect fabric. Both quilts are so pretty. I wonder how you get around the dilemma with Pat Sloane quilts. I know she is so prolific with her designs and many folks love her quilt patterns. I wonder if there is someone else who also puts out their own designs like that- or some way you can work around Pat Sloane so its not so challenging to use fabric. I know you have made fabric cafe quilts before (those are the 3 yard quilts). Pat does a lot of seasonal quilts that make it interesting for you, I figure,
So I did get started on my PMQ blocks for this month. There are 4 blocks to be made this month, but the way the instructions are written you are making 2 blocks at a time. The blocks do not look too hard…its going to be interesting to see how this quilt turns out.
And Ruth, glad you got to spend some time with Dh and also some crocheting. See ya tomorrow.

Hello everyone. Well we're home after seeing the doctor and the picking up a few grocery items. There were very few people at the doctor's office but the store was really full. I can't believe all the people that were shopping. I'm amazed at how high the prices are now. They had a couple good sales though and we didn't need much luckily. i hate to even think about how high prices are going to go Now I'm going to sit, watch my program which repeats all day with older episodes, and maybe take a nap and of course, crochet

Ruth, glad you and Dh were able to get to the doctor today. Its always nice to get that kind of stuff out of the way until next year. Yes, its quite an eye opener some of the prices. As a matter of fact they are reasonably disgusting….and some items the price increase makes no sense. Gas prices here have moderated a bit and at some gas stations come down a few cents. Mind you we are still seeing gas prices well over $4 a gallon- which were well under $3 a gallon a short while ago. I hope that you enjoyed watching your program….and got to relax and crochet. I do not think you ever enjoyed shopping all that much, but I do know its much less enjoyable than it used to be.
CJ- hope you had a good day and got some quilting time in if you wanted to. At least by me it was warm and comfortable, which I hope was that way where you live.
Long day for me. A normal day for me is 10,000-12,000 steps. Today I am over 20,000 steps….I worked… and went for a nice walk with my friend and then ran some errands with Ds. The cross stitch my DSIL made for DS was framed and done today, so I went to pick it up along with other errands in that area. (So thankful with gas prices as they are that I was able to combine errands.) My batting should be delivered tomorrow. While walking with my friend we saw a flock of snow geese- which really made her day as she loves them. I know they are migrating north- and it was good to see them. We also saw wood ducks (along with a normal amount of canadian geese and mallards)and probably some buffleheads- it was a bit hard to see them in the distance and I did not have strong binoculars with me.
I did get to work on the PMQ quilt blocks for this month a bit- and got started on this months blocks…stopped before I did something stupid and made a mistake (which I do when tired at the end of the day).
Hope everyone had a good day…..see ya tomorrow. Ginny

Hello Ruth - I'm glad your appointments went well and you were able to do your shopping. Ginny - It sounds like you have a really pretty area to walk in, it sounds so nice to see all that wildlife. The weather has still been mild here, I think yesterday was in the low 70s, it's in the high 60s right now. I finished putting the next block (which is really 2 rows) on my floral version of the Sweet Dreams quilt and also added the next border. I can't believe there are still about 8 weeks to this quilt along! I'm starting to get tired of these quilts. I have a short attention span I checked out my fabrics for both versions and I should have enough fabric to make the sashing strips and large half square triangles that will be in the outer border that we still need to work on. The only probably I might have is that I may run out of fabric for the blocks on the floral version. I'll be using the red and peach/coral fabric for the sashing pieces and the red/cream for the large half square triangles. So I guess I'll have to see what happens with the fabric left for the blocks. Here's a picture to see how much more of this quilt there is to make, you can see the large half square triangle in each corner and then there are 14 more blocks with sashing strips between them. I'm still planning to make some of those blocks a solid block of the floral fabric (and I'll use a panel piece in the lighthouse version): Take care and have a good day!

Happy weekend everyone. I didn't get on my laptop much at all yesterday. Was just too tired after very little sleep and having to go out.I never do internet on my phone. Too hard to type and I'm just not good at using my smartphone anyway. If I'm lucky I'm sometimes able to find phone messages on it.I know somewhat, how to take pictures with it and see the in the gallery but don't even know how to send them like most people do. I didn't get in very much crocheting yesterday either. I took my biblocatch and the hook but never took it out of the bag. There wasn't much of a wait. Ginny, over 20,000 is a LOT of steps!! I did walk around the store a lot yesterday searching for one of the items I wanted but I'm sure my steps didn't even add up to 5000. One of the things the doctor talked about to me was my cholesterol which is high but not terrible and is lower than it was two years ago. She wanted to increase my statin drug but I told her that I was planning on walking a lot which helped the last time when my chol was305 and it came down to just over 200 with eating oatmeal every day (which I still do) and walking. And I admitted that I'm not always reall good at taking my meds. Anyway got off track and just wanted to say congratulations in always getting in your exercise. I'm glad you were able to work on the new block or at least see how this months blocks were supposed to be put together. My bp was a little high too but I'm sure it was only white coast syndrome...altho my doctor doesn't wear a white coat

Ruth, I seem to remember you getting or wanting to get a pedometer. These silly devices really do inspire a person to move more…and 5000 steps is a lot of steps if you are not used to that. I am happy to hear that you have been successful in the past reducing cholesterol by walking and eating oatmeal daily. Hope that you can get back on track to reducing your cholesterol….and that yourBP calms. I hear ya about white coat high blood pressure. I hope that you were able to get some crocheting in today, and that your weather was pleasant.
CJ- well you have made some dramatic changes to the Sweet Dreams pattern- and I like yours better! PS started out with a good idea but I really like how brave you are and changing the inner border. Now we just have to wait to see if you have enough fabric to finish the quilt similarly to how she designed it.I hope you have enough of the different fabrics to continue as you have planned. Sounds like the light house quilt is fine and you have a good plan to use that large lighthouse print for the border. I wonder with 8 weeks left with this quilt along, what the design plans are- as it seems as though you are almost done. The floral quilt you have pictured is so pretty.
So today my legs ache and are tired. Gee, any idea why? Think tomorrow I am returning to the bird sanctuary to walk that area again….just so neat to see the migratory birds that are there. I would say its about a 10 mile drive (no more than) to that area. Weather is supposed to be decent enough, mid 50’s. Dd#2 and DGS stopped over today. Good to see them both…looks like last nite. DGS got his first tooth! That happened pretty easily too as Dd said he has not been super cranky. My batting arrived today and I hope to work a bit more on the PMQ in a few minutes after I check email.
Have a good night Ginny
