I slept pretty well last night, just wish I had slept a bit more. After going for another long walk yesterday I was pretty tired. Its the first full day of spring, I hope we have a nice spring and do not go into instant summer. I have a lot of yard work that needs doing and no inspiration to do so at the moment.
Hope each of you got the rest you needed last night.
See you later

WEll Ginny, you could come here. We woke to about 3 or 4 inches of snow. What a surprise that was. Yesterday we had temps like you and CJ...in the 50's and for several days before that it was about 60. It's bright and sunny now though so hopefully it will melt before we have to go out for an appointment for dh. I don't know if I even got here yesterday. I decided to do taxes. What a fiasco. It took me almost six hours to get that task completed. Lots of glitches on the "free" tax sites and they wanted info that I didn't have. On the one I've used for the last three years there was no way to find my banks in order to report my interest or IRA distribution. I tried 3 different tax programs before I finally went to H&R Block which had a lot of glitches in signing in but did finally work. OH and they forgot to have me put in my agi from last year so when I thought I was finally finished I got an email from them saying IRS rejected my return and I had to go back and correct that which took about 10 attempts to put in my password and that may be an underestimate. My return is a simple one and I know I should just let someone else do it but I'm a tightwad and don't want to spend money for something I can do myself even if it is frustrating. I can buy a lot of yarn with what that costs My neighbors spent the last few months In Arizona and may have gone other places. I reallly don't know but she did mention being in Arizona on her FB page. They came home yesterday in time for snow. Definitely when you live here you need to stay in that nice warm place until at least the middle of April. I hope you all have a great day!

Sorry about the hassle of doing your taxes Ruth. I am seriously considering doing my own next year if I have nothing that complicates them. And yes I spent a decent amount of money getting my return done. Anyway, Ruth were you able to get confirmation from the IRS that your return was accepted? They just told me that their web site was down. I am going to comb through my return right now and look for the one thing that I suspect might have caused trouble.
Hope that those 3-4 inches of snow do not cause trouble for you Ruth and that it melts quickly.

Well I never have to worry about that.I never get a refund.I always have to pay. I can't even imagine how much taxes are going to be next year. I'm sorry that you're having that same problem with receiving your refund. Did you ever eventually get those two that you were waiting for so long? The snow is all melted for the most part. It may either rain or snow tomorrow but either one won't be much.
I have so many wips and ufo's. I need to concentrate on finishing things before starting something new. I finished only one bilbocatch. Doing it with Peaches 'n creme yarn really hurts my hands. The one I finished is really fun though. The kids will like it. My dh even tried it. Now I've just started a wrap for me. I know that dh is going to have a/c on this year and I'll be cold thus the wrap. I haven't finished the c2c blanket which is for no one in particular. I waste too much time looking at things others have made and at patterns when there are so many things that I already want to make. I need the time I spend looking at new projects to be using for actually making.
I did a bit of housecleaning today and am happy I did it. Things look so much better when clean...well except for my kitchen floor. the flooring needs to be replaced. After you wash it it still looks bad just because it's so old. I also got a few other things on my list done.
Have a great night everyone

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having nice weather. It's in the high 60s and sunny here, so a really nice day. Sounds like we'll get some rain the next few days. Ginny - Sorry you continue to have problems with your taxes/IRS. Sounds like you get to take some really nice walks Ruth - Sounds like you are busy with projects, as always. I'm happy to hear you are working on a project for you Sue - Hope you are doing well. I went out and ran some errands this morning. I haven't done any quilting for a few days. I did pull a bunch of projects and fabrics/patterns that were stacked in a chair in my sewing room. I was tired of them all sitting there, so I'm trying to sort them out into actual kits I want to make, and then putting away fabric from projects I thought I'd do, but don't want to know. I also hope to get my fabric re-organized in the next few weeks. It has gotten to where I was not putting fabric away and with some new fabric I've bought that I haven't put away - it's making it difficult to look at fabric for projects. So I hope I can get that done since I know it will make me feel better. Take care

CJ, I'm glad you were able to get those errands done. It's a great idea to organize so that you can readily find fabrics that you're looking for. I have a problem with that myself but mostly in relation to yarn.I organize bit end up just sticking new yarn or remainders of skeings just anywhere in my craft room or leave it lying on my couch. It sounds like your weather is pretty common to March or is it usually a lot warmer?
Ginny, I know you're having a busy day as usual.I hope you're enjoying the things that you're doing.
It was s strange weather day here. We woke to it snowing at times very hard. I was tempted to reschedule dh's appointment but I decided not to. Once we got to the place we were going it turned all bright and sunny but when we were done there the sun was gone and it was snowing again. We did stop at the grocery store again to pick up some things we wished we had bought more of on Friday and when we came out of there it was back to nice weather again so we did our bank errand so that's taken care of. Once we got home more snow arrived. Luckily it was a little bit warm so it was all melting. This weekend it will be in the low 70's which will make me very happy indeed except I'm sure it will get cold again before better weather is here to stay.I have only two things left to do...another bank and eye exam. There are many more I could do but probably will just wait until later which is probably not the best idea but I'm sure I will anyway.
I did get in a little crocheting last evening. I didn't take it with me when we went out today. I should have because it would have been a good opportunity to get more done.

Good morning! As I started to head to bed last night, I could not remember if I had been here to say hello or not. I kind of figured I had not but knew I had to get some rest. Sorry I did not get to check yesterday.
Ruth, little by little you are getting things done, appointments for yourself and Dh. Always good to get your eyes checked especially as we mature. Sometimes the list of appointments we have can seem overwhelming and its can be a challenge at times keeping things up to date. I am sure you are used to your weather, but it always seems more volatile to me. You can have very cold weather one day, followed by heat and wind. The wind seems to be a constant. Glad to hear that you are making a shawl/wrap for yourself. You make so much for others! There is no harm in making something for yourself, for sure.
CJ-I admire that you have put together “kits” that you have assembled to make into quilts. You are then ready to do what you want..and can walk into your stash of projects and select the one that appeals to you. Like you, I have had somewhat milder weather for the past few days, but am headed into some rainy days also. Good that you got your errands done during nicer weather. Its no fun getting in and out of a car when its cold and rainy. Cold and rainy weather sounds perfect for getting your newer fabrics put away so that you can find them better.
I stayed at DD’s a bit later than normal yesterday - Dd#2 stopped by and it was nice to see her also. Got some errands to run myself this morning, one of which is to check with the bank about my tax refund. The IRS web site indicates that the refund was issued, but as of last night it was not in my account. So frustrating.
Hope everyone has a good day and can get some crafting in!!! Ginny

Hello Ruth - I'm glad you got all your appointments and shopping done and made it home with no problems. Your weather must give you whiplash - snow, warm, cold again, windy You had asked about my weather for March and whether it was normal. I'm probably remembering wrong, but when I was a child it seems that March was colder and always windy. We also used to have some bad ice storms in March and sometimes a light/wet snow in March and April. Now that weather is rare and it's milder with less of the wind/ice/snow. I'm fine with no ice storms, those are the worst. And I don't miss the high winds either - they cause so many problems. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to spend some time with your DDs yesterday. Hope you can get your errands done today and that you can get your tax refund soon. It's colder and rainy here today. One of the great things about retirement is that I don't have to go out when it's raining I actually feel resentful when something comes up that I have to go out when the weather isn't nice I was able to get all that fabric and those projects sorted out a bit. I put all the fabric in my fabric storage area, which is going to need work to get it organized again. And I have the kits together but need to find a place to store them, and make a list of them so I'll know what I have to work on. Hopefully I can spend some time on organization over the next week or so. It makes it so much easier to work when things are in their place. I did make a small table runner this morning. I had a fat quarter (the flip flop fabric) and I decided I wanted to cut it as large as I could - so I cut it into 5 inch pieces and I got 12 of those (needed 11 for this table runner). And then I decided to alternate them with a 9 patch using some bright colors. The turquoise fabric will be for the binding. It's just a fun, summery project. I might actually give this one to a relative of mine - she loves the warm weather being by the water, so I thought it would be a nice gift for her birthday this summer. I'll need to make a label for it, which I've never done, so that will be something new to learn - I've read lots about making them and also seen videos and I'll watch some more to figure out which way I want to go. The new block for the Sweet Dreams quilt along came out today, so I need to figure out if I'm going to have enough fabric to make the blocks for the outer border or if I need to find some matching fabric and use that. I'm thinking that I really need to come up with some new (but matching) fabric so I'm not worried about running out. Take care and have a great day!

CJ- that table runner is adorable and I am sure your relative will love it! So bright and summery!!Yes, I think the turquoise fabric will be perfect for the border- will you also use that for the back? Have you given any thought to how you might quilt it? Its fun learning how to make labels. I have played with that on my machine and will have to master that sooner or later. Remember to add your initials and the date…which provides important historical references for your ancestors.4

Ok, Yoda just hopped on the keyboard. He is a busy cat and likes to think that he owns me. Well I guess he does in a way. Anyway, CJ make that label for the table runner. I really like the tonal off white, red and yellow fabrics….tonal prints are my favorite. Regarding the sweet dreams quilt do you think you have a fabric in your home to add to the quilt or will another trip to Joanns be necessary?
Watched a Fons and Porter episode (they are from quilting magazine) this am, and some of what was covered was echo quilting. I have done that on the 2 quilted pillows I made and was very happy with the results. Its a good show and on my TV system is on the create channel. As soon as I sign off I am going to go watch another episode.
Got my errands done today, which took a little bit longer than I had hoped but it all turned out ok. I did call the one bank and stop at the other to ask about my tax refund. Neither had record of it. So I emailed my tax preparer to inform them of what I had done and that I learned really nothing. She had also called the IRS- and it sounds like I will be given a paper check in about 2 weeks. That is fine by me. It also sounds as though I am getting a refund of my tax preparation fees because of the mishap. I am very thankful about that….even if I only get a partial refund it will be nice.
Hope everyone has a good evening. Ginny

CJ, that table runner definitely is bright and cheerful and perfect for summer. Your relative is going to love it I'm sure. I had forgotten that you made kits. It's nice to have all the things you need for a certain project in the same place like that. I've done it a couple times with crochet but should do more. As far as organizing I know you'll get it done and writing all the kits you have down somewhere so that you know what you have is a great idea. I did that by inventorying all my yarn as I have mentioned before, but I didn't end up crossing out the ones I've used since and haven't added new yarns I got after that so it's pretty much messed up now.
Ginny, I'm sure it was great to be able to see both sets of grandchildren yesterday. It sounds like you had another busy day and we don't blame you at all for not stopping in when you knew you needed to get to sleep. I hope you got all your errands done easily and I hope you found out good news on your tax return.
I baked an apple pie today and put potatoes in the oven at the same time for dinner. I love baked potatoes. Only crafting I've done so far today was look at just a few patterns. I'm trying to cut down on that wasted time. And I also got yarn together for another project I want to make for the grands to take to them. Now I'm ready to get to some things on my list that I couldn't get to earlier because the notebooks and projects I wanted to work on were in the bedroom where dh was napping. Oh and got the results of dh's xrays which show "significant arthritis in hips and neck"They left a message and didn't t4ell me what the implications of that are as in does he need hip replacements. is there a lot of damage, are they going to do an MRI to find out if he has nerve damage. It's like pulling teeth to get info from these people. I will call them tomorrow.

Ruth, well that is some messages to get about Dh’s X-rays. Hope you are able to get better answers today. Looks like we were posting at the same time last night. Yum…..that apple pie must have made the house smell amazing!!!
CJ- hope you slept well last night BBL Ginny

Yes Ginny, It does look like you were typing when I came in so that I missed your post entirely. They claim that the IRS is extremely busy this year. Probably because they don't have enough agents but they seem to have really made some kind of mistake in sending your refund. Why would they send a paper one instead of directly depositing it to your bank and why would they say it was in your band when it isn't. That's the federal gov't for you. I just hope you get it. That is cute about Yoda jumping onto your keyboard. Teach him to type and he can do all yout typing for you. I left a message for my doctor. They never answer the phone. The nurse listens to a message then sends a "note" to the doctor. The doctor then gives the nurse the info and that nurse then calls the patient back.I'm sure a lot is lost in all that transfer of messages. They are right there together in a small section of the building so why not speak to each other in person? Our doctor's solution to any problem seems to be physical therapy. I think he needs an MRI of his neck but she says insurance requires a certain period of time in PT before they will authorizee an MRI I worked on the last bilbocatches last night. Just have the ball and string for 3 of them left to do then those will be done and I'm glad because, while I know the kids will like them, they are very hard on my hands and wrist which I'm sure I mentioned but I'm old and repeat myself a lot WEll I hope you all have a great day and I look forward to maybe seeing you later.
