Sue, so sorry that you have broken off the temples from 3 pair of glasses…yikes!!! Sounds like a trip to buy a card of cheaters is in order (I used to get them for Dh who was a nightmare with glasses, he left them everywhere and thus resulting they were always breaking). Hope otherwise, all is well. Good to hear from you.

Good afternoon, Actually got some time in sewing. I did have to cut some fabric backs for the quilt as you go squares, and finally (I think) got the hang of the directions. Two blocks are made - but not ready for joining. Its really a fun project and I can see the blocks will go together quickly. I hear from Jane that there is a lot of hand sewing, once the joining strips are put on the final join is by hand. I want to see how the project goes and how large I can make it. I am hoping to make this as a coverlet for the small bedroom. When I bought the fabric I doubled up on everything, with the hope that I can make this work out. I figure if I need to enlarge it, I will pick up additional fabrics for borders. Let’s hope I am right!! I did watch a few episodes of Fons and Porter (a quilting show). Had to laugh - and thought of CJ as they discussed scrappy quilts, calling them “a quilting adventure with very little risk” (cause the fabrics are not meant to go together!! Its really inspired me to make a scrappy quilt. Also got the inspiration to make a quilts of valor quilt for my DBIL- I know the quilter is not supposed to know who they are quilting for….but I think I owe him one for his patriotic service in the 60’s. So now I have 2 more projects on my list….ha ha ha Will try to post pics of the blocks I made today. I LOVE this fabric collection. Just love how bright and cheery it is and I have always loved the blue and yellow color combination. I figure that no one here will like it all that much as I do not often hear of either Ruth or CJ using these colors….not looking for complements at all. I am just happy I got these blocks made!!

Hello Ginny - Your blocks are so pretty! I do love that color combination and those fabrics are so cheerful I hope you can make the QOV and a scrappy quilt. You found the block that was messed up. That was the one I had to make after the larger quilt was done and I was trying to make it without making a full block, but it didn't work out. I don't mind since this was just a way to use up the rest of that fabric. Sue - It's good to hear from you, sorry to hear about your glasses, but hope you are well otherwise. Ruth - Hope you are doing well today. We had some heavy rain last night and it finished earlier today, but the day stayed cloudy and in the 50s. I checked my new sump pump a few times and the water is low in it so it if had to pump, I guess it worked alright. I finished making the checkerboard quilt I've been work on and I'm fairly happy with it but not really thrilled. I didn't really start this quilt with a plan, so I guess for just winging it it's alright. I'll try to post a picture soon. The new blocks for Sweet Dreams and the Moda Blockheads came out today, so I have to pick fabrics for 3 blocks and get them done. I hope to work on that the next few days. Hope you are all having some nice weather and getting to work on some crafting. Take care

CJ- glad you are finished with the checkerboard quilt. Some projects are a joy to get completed, just so that you can put them aside and move on to another project that you like more. I am looking forward to seeing it when you do post a picture. I am sure it looks great. Hope that you are able to find fabrics the the sweet dreams and blockheads quilts that you feel confident with. I am very glad to hear that your new sump pump seems to be working well. With spring rains and hurricane season, its important to know that you have a reliable system.
If I do make a scrappy quilt, it will truly be scrappy- I have no intent on trying to make it look coordinated at all and want to use up fabric and have some fun with it.Thanks for the compliment on my blocks.I’ve got a long way to go but I’m very happy with how quickly that project at least at this stage will go together.

Ginny those colors work so nicely together and I do like it. It looks like a really great project and, as you said, a fun one to make. It will look so great in that room where you plan to use it! so, hahaha, you were wrong about CJ and me.
Sue I'm sorry to hear that your glasses broke.I hope you can get them repaired or new ones without much of a problem. Otherwise how are you and your hubby doing?
CJ, I couldn't find the mistake. I did find that it's a really nice project and although when you first look you see squares, then look close and see large pinwheels then small pinwheels. Next there are places where you can see what looks like hourglasses. It's a very fun quilt. It also proves that, although you don't really enjoy doing them, you still make them beautiful and interesting
I did work on my blanket last evening and got almost the whole of the first mandala cake used. They have over 1000 yards. I plan to use three of them.I have some things to do today so won't spend the whole day crocheting but will get back to it this evening.

back from a busy day…and its raining
Ruth, glad you are making good progress on your blanket! Do you have any idea what the final size will be? Hope you get back to work on it, it sounds like an easy pattern- a nice project to relax and crochet.
I can take absolutely no credit on the quilt fabric. Its a jelly roll, and the fabrics are meant to go together, Its just a matter of selecting which fabric to use on which square and in which order. I did see a video on scrappy quilts and the woman said literally to put the fabrics in a bad close your eyes and pull out the next fabric without looking. Well I cannot quite do that….but I can just try to be a bit more haphazard with my fabric selections.
Its not that cold out but it feels chilly. Think I will make a cup of tea and go downstairs to warm up.
My next package of fabric came for my PMQ. Not sure if I will work on that or work on the quilt as you go.

The closest to crafting I got last night was to open my new fabrics shipment and take a look at what the blocks are. I will learn something this month as it appears as though I will be making a block in a block, which I do not think I have ever done before. Hope that this weekend I can get into that, if not I will work on the QAYG blocks which is easy to pick up and put down.

Good morning all. I hope you all have a great day. Right now I'm doing some little last minute things before I go out today. Ginny, it's so much fun to learn new things. I think I've seen block in a block. When you get done you'll have yet another method of quilting (or at least knowledge of being able to do a new block. I know that I've always felt great when learning new crochet stitches and methods.I hope you do get time to work on whichever quilt you feel like working on this weekend CJ I bet you worked on some more really pretty blocks yesterday. People would be so envious if they saw all those beautiful quilted items in your home. Are you still planning on giving the one to your neice? Well hopefully I'll be able to stop in here this evening. It's going to be a busy day. Neighbor is already out working in his yard. I need to do the same...sometime

Good evening!! Today was a bit more busy than I hoped it would be. I worked and trained this morning- then had a doctors appointment this afternoon, just a follow up on my blood pressure (which was fine). Got a nice walk in too. Think Instead of pushing myself to do more, I will relax and try to get some rest. Tomorrow is another day for crafting.
Ruth, yard work is a lot like housework, its patient and will wait for you. Sounds like you have a lot going on, hope you can accomplish all that you want to today.
CJ- how is your day going?
Hope everyone got some crafting time today!!!
Take care Ginny

Hello friends.
Ginny I think it's a good idea to just rest since it sounds like you had a busy day. The weekend hopefully will include some time when you can work on your crafts.
Got my work for today done and maybe will crochet soon. I doubt I'll be posting in the morning but will again tomorrow evening hopefully.
CJ, how was your day?

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well We finally had a sunny day here after all the rainy/cloudy days this week, so that was nice. I haven't done any quilting the last few days, except to pull some fabrics for the two Sweet Dreams blocks. I hope I can get those done this weekend and also work on the Moda Block heads block. I went out to eat today with some family members who were visiting from out of town. We ate at a seafood restaurant that is right on a river, so it was nice to sit there and look out at the water. The seafood was good too. That's the first time I've been in a restaurant to eat since 2019 (or maybe earlier). People around here aren't wearing masks much anymore, so hopefully it was safe. Take care and I hope I can update with some quilting information this weekend

CJ, I'm sure it was very nice and enjoyable to be able to get out to a restaurant with family after all that time.I'm not much of a seafood lover and pretty much like only deep fried fish at restaurants and fast food places but in my area those places seem few and far between. We do have a Red Lobster but I haven't been to one in years and we have a combo Long John Silver's/KFC but the fish there has really changed and is mostly the breading and no fish. I hope you can get some quilting done this weekend and I look forward to those links you post.

Happy Saturday all- and may you find joy in whatever you are doing today.
CJ- Its wonderful to hear that you got out to eat with some family..Hope that the meal was wonderful. It sounds as though the restaurant is in a lovely scenic location, and I am sure that was pleasant to eat facing the water. I have not been out nearly as much as pre pandemic days either. If I can offer some medical advice- which my DSIL’s doctor told her (I went to the doctor visit with her, and she has fairly severe COPD). She is cautious and vaccinated. Her doctor told her that he has had patients who are in much worse condition medically than she is and they have gotten covid. He described how he has treated them- what medications- and that they have all done very well and got over covid without consequence. I know we are all unique individuals, but I guess what I am saying is that I think you will see no consequence from eating out. I am glad you did! What did you order? Hope you can get some time in quilting this weekend. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the sweet dreams blocks.
Ruth-did you get some crochet time in? Me too, its been years since I have been to a Red Lobster and I do not remember ever going to a Long John Silver. My family used to make going to a KFC our first meal out when we would travel to NC (because of its location and ease of getting food after a 10 hour drive). Hope you can get some crocheting time in. How is that afghan you are making coming along?
Sue- hope you are doing well and that you were able to replace the glasses that were broken.
I slept well last night - and am glad to be up a bit later than normal. The cats were a bit annoyed that I was not up and feeding them at 5 am- but they got fed at 6:15 and are obviously not malnourished. DD#2 usually comes over on Saturdays…we shall see if she does or not. Got some rain here this am, which I think clears out mid day.
BBL to see who checks in. Ginny

Hello Ruth - Hope you are doing well today. I love Long John Silver's fish but those restaurants are all gone from the area where I live. I like different fishes, shrimp and I really like scallops but mostly just fried or broiled and it's hard to find them. I had some fried perch and a crab cake at the restaurant yesterday and they were good. I meant to order some coleslaw but I forgot Ginny - I'm glad your cats survived the late feeding It's nice to hear you slept well, I rarely do that anymore. Hope your weather cleared up. Sue - Hope you are well. It's in the 50s and cloudy here today, we had some rain overnight. Looks like the warm weather is headed here this coming week. I was able to finish the two blocks for the Sweet Dreams quilt along and I'm posting the two Red, White and Blue blocks which will be used on the lighthouse version and the two floral and star blocks I'll be using in the outer borders. I think there are still three more block patterns to be released this month and then we can put the final quilt top together. I also started deciding on the fabrics for the Moda Blockheads blocks and hopefully I can work on them some tomorrow. I'd like to get these done this weekend since I have some fun projects I want to work on. These quilt alongs sometimes seem like work projects to me. I'll post some pictures of the Sweet Dreams blocks and also the Checkerboard block I finished the other day. I'm not thrilled with it, but it was nice to use some of the fabrics in it (the pinks were from a charm pack). Hope everyone has a great weekend and gets to do some crafting P.S. - Bummer, I can't get the pictures from Post Images to post in here. The link won't show up when I copy and past from the website
