Good afternoon Ginny, CJ, Sue and all that stop here to read.
It's a nice day here. I have to go to the bank today and am waiting until after the lunch hour per dh's request although I think the bank will be quieter during lunch time. Oh well. I have a lot of coins I want to deposit. I hope they still accept them. Many banks don't even though there's supposedly a coin shortage.
Funny thing about coins. I never carry any cash with me even change so when I picked up dh's med and his copay was only twenty cents I had to put that twenty cents on my credit card. I guess I need to start taking change when I go out.
I'm wondering if the doctor or the pharmacy made a mistake with dh's med. What I reqested for him was a prednisone dose pack which come in 5mg and/or 10 mg tablets. What the pharmacy gave me was 50mgs.and five separate tablets. I called the doctor's office and as usual left a message to clarify so hopefully they get back to me.Otherwise I'm just going to have him take a forth of a tablet. 50 mg is way too much. The online pharmacy we use which is the one that United Heath care suggests does mess up at times and I don't really trust them so if anything looks odd I look up the info on the pills on the online PDR to make sure it's the right thing. They often send meds in different shapes or colors and don't give a note like the local pharmacy does when they use a different brand.
I did work on my new blanket last evening. I wanted to get a good foundation made on it before putting in my car to be worked on at intervals.
I looked up Taylor ham and it looks like it's another form of pork roll similar to Spam. It must be a regional thing around the NJ area and around that part of the east coast

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you are feeling better Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get your DH's prescription but sorry to hear that it might be incorrect. It's really good that are able to check it and that you knew it wouldn't be the correct dose. I don't trust either and try to always check things like that. I remember once getting the wrong dosage pills for my father and catching it before he took them. Sue - Hope you are well. It's cloudy and in the 50s here today, so not too bad. I've received my order from Shabby Fabrics and Jordan Fabrics, so it's just the MSQC order to come. I received an email from them that one of the things I ordered it out of stock and they don't have a date for it to be received at their store so they are refunding me. That was nice and I appreciated the information and they way they sent it. Of course the fabric that is out of stock is the off white that I needed for quilts that I'm working on I finished making the Jelly Roll Sizzle quilt today, after working on it yesterday and this morning. It goes together pretty quickly. The only thing I found stressful was fabric layout. I just don't do well with scrappy type quilts. But I was happy to use the jelly roll I'd had for awhile. There was one strip in the roll that had the Little House on the Prairie logo, since this was a collection of fabrics called that. I cut that one strip up into 4 pieces and used it on the top, bottom and side borders. I like the secondary patterns that come out of this quilt - the pinwheels and it's like you can see a big diamond in the center. Hope you all get to do some crafting today and that you are having nice weather

That is really great how those pinwheels show up just by putting the blocks together correctly. There are some really beautiful colors in that quilt and I love how it's laid out
Got the banking done. I was surprised to find that my coins added up to well over $300

Hey CJ- I think it is so cute that you left the one piece of fabric in Thats and the Little House logo on it. Honestly from a distance it sort of fits in and is really not noticeable. It appears as though it is just one of the smaller prints. Nice job going with the scrappy look! I know its not a look that you are completely comfortable with, but you made it work and the color distribution is nice and even. What size quilt is this? Sorry that the one fabric MSQ is out of is the off white, but that should be sort of easy to get from another source - even Joanns- if it were necessary. But a bummer that the one fabric you really needed is out of stock. At least the MSQ order is the last to arrive- I wonder if there is another fabric that they have that you could ask them to give you instead? As they are a larger company, I have never found them to be super quick in shipping- but the orders usually arrive within 10 days. Are you happy with the supplies you got from Shabby Fabrics and Jordan Fabrics?
Ruth, glad you picked up that discrepancy with Dh’s script. Hope you can resolve the issue correctly, so that Dh can get the right dose that the doctor requested. Yes, Taylor’s ham is a pork roll, and I do know that its very popular in New Jersey, where its frequently served on a hard roll with an egg as a sandwich.I always thought it smelled horrible and because it smells so bad to me that I could never convince myself to taste it. So i guess its an east coast thing, perhaps only the northeast. Glad you are starting to work on that afghan for yourself, and getting the foundation chain done is a good thing. Then its easy to build upon that. I hope you can get good use out of that afghan once its done. And that is pretty funny about the 20 cent charge at the pharmacy. Many do not carry cash anymore….you are not alone.
Long day. Dd came to pick up DGS this afternoon and it was so good to see her.
It feels warmer out there now…. And the days appear to be longer. Not sure if I can get some crafting in today or not.
Have a good evening Ginny

Ruth congrats on the $300 in coins! You must hhave had a fairly good amount of coins- which I hope they had a counting machine to make the transaction.

Yes they do have a counting machine. The other bank that I deal with doesn't have one and doesn't accept coins. I remember back in 2006 my grandson and I rolled a bunch of coins but when I took them to the bank I found that they don't accept already rolled coins. They were from his other grandmother who had just passed away. She had a huge jar about half filled with coins.I don't get many coins anymore since I mostly always use a credit card then pay it off each month and get rewards

Ruth - I'm glad you were able to cash in your coins, that was a nice amount you'd saved. I only use cash when I'm out so I get lots of change. I used to have a bank that had the coin machines, but none of mine have them anymore. I have a relative who takes them to his bank and then brings me the cash. Ginny - Unfortunately that fabric I wanted was a special Moda fabric, which I didn't see anywhere else. I'll see if I can finish the quilt with what I have and if not, I'll try to match it up somewhere. I've always had good service from Jordan Fabrics and Shabby Fabrics, and recommend them both. The jelly roll pattern is from the Fat Quarter Shop: www.fatquartershop.com/jelly-roll-sizzle-quilt-pattern-free-pdf-pattern-fat-quarter-shop

CJ, I'm sorry that your fabric was out of stock. That's really bad in a situation where you can't get the same fabric anywhere else. Did they say that they expected more in and when or is it a situation where you just have to wait and see if they ever get anymore? I checked out the pattern at that link. I like it.Is it real hard to do? Not that I'm planning on trying it but was just curious. Maybe in the summer I'll have time to try making some of those small quilt things that are shown on Youtube...potholders etc. Who knows, I may try making some table runners even though I don't really use my dining room table for anything but cutting fabric and other miscellaneous things.I have to see if I can get any of those 30 minute table runners done. I started some a couple years ago and never completed any.You are definitely an inspriation.I know I could never be as good as you are but I can probably make potholders and maybe a table runner

Good morning!! CJ- that is a neat pattern! I like it when the fabric company (or yarn company) offers a free pattern like that, of course it sells product for them but also provides inspiration for the crafter. Looks like it makes a 48x48 inch quilt. A nice manageable size. I hope that somehow in your searches you are able to find that moda fabric.Do any of your “local: quilt shops sell moda? especially during the pandemic, the one quilt shop I usually go to (albeit infrequently) will cut and hold fabric for a customer. And like you, I have had good service from both Jordan and Shabby fabrics, cannot remember what I ordered from either however.
Ruth - yes you can quilt!!!! I agree taking on a smaller project like a potholder, table runner or even a pillow is a good place to start if you want to give quilting a try. Glad your bank has a counting machine. Just makes it so much easier.
When the kids were little, I used to collect change all through the year- and on vacation divide it and give it to the kids to buy something special for themselves (their choice) when we were on vacation. Wonder if they remember that???
Have a good day! Ginny

I sure agree with free patterns and I did see this quilt pattern is free. As you said, Ginny. more people will be inclined to buy product when they get a free pattern that tells them exactly how much they need and also shows how the quilt is to be laid out with that amount of fabric being used. And you know how I dislike paying for crochet patterns.
We woke to snow this morning but already it's bright and sunny and snow is melting. Next week the forecast is for snow every day up to 5 inches.
I did work on the blanket last evening. It will be a light throw and I'm using Lion Brand Mandala is the colorway Spirit. With all those blues and greys in it the throw will look nice in my camper so I may use it there.
Have a great day everyone. I'm working on my list.Got one thing crossed off and will work down it from here

Hello Ruth - The Jelly Roll Sizzle pattern is very easy to make, especially if you have the jelly roll, very little cutting. Hope you can get a lot of things on your list done today. MSQC said they didn't have any expected date to receive that fabric I wanted, so I'll just move on. It's not that big of a deal. Ginny - The quilt size I made was the 48x48 and it ended up at 53x53 with the added small border. The Fat Quarter Shop and Jordan Fabrics are very generous with free patterns, and I've saved a lot of them from both places. I also try to buy from them to support these freebies This morning I finished making a small 18x18 quilt top with the leftover fabrics from the half square triangle corners on the Jelly Roll Sizzle quilt. I had 32 of them, but needed 36 so I made 4 more. But I messed up the way I made them somehow. I don't really care since it was just a way to use scraps so I went ahead and made it with the error in it. You'll have to see if you can find it, if you like to look for things like that The picture is below. I also started working on the checkerboard quilt I've been working on. I think it might be a "bland" looking quilt, but I guess I'll see once I have it all together. I may be able to put a border on it and make it look better. I was able to find my parents and siblings on the 1950s Census, that was so neat. I also found out that my mother had been a census worker for the 1950 Census and I was able to find the pages where she did her work. It was so nice to see her name and her beautiful handwriting - she had wonderful penmanship. It's kind of strange (but wonderful) to see bits of your family's lives before you were born. Its a cloudy, rainy day here in the 50s - not too bad. Take care

Good evening!
CJ- the little sampler you put together with leftover fabric is adorable- imagine you made something so pretty with leftover fabrics that you are trying to use up. But that is the art of quilting!! Who said you were not good with the scrappy look? Perhaps the “mistake” is the center pinwheel in the bottom two squares- but is it really a mistake or just delightfully quirky? Think its a really cute quilt. Yes, I totally agree with the idea of shopping with companies who offer free patterns. Please remember one of the quilts I loved best from that antique quilt show was a scrappy one. Its the true art of quilting, and and how our ancestors frugally used fabric scraps to make something practical and beautiful. And I hope that you are able to find a fabric to replace the one you are unable to get in time from MSQ- or perhaps can find another fabric to replace it.
Ruth, so glad you are checking off another item on your list. Its just nice to get stuff done and know that you are well organized. Sounds like you are in for a lot of snow!! When is your normal last snow? Glad you worked on the blanket, have you gotten many rows done?
Babysitting went very well today. Got the little ones outside for 2 1/2 hours in the am, and another half hour in the afternoon. Glad to be home, however, and no babysitting for awhile.
I am watching a PBS special on Benjamin Franklin. Its a pleasure to watch a show like this…yes I do enjoy American history. Got cool rainy weather tomorrow. I am suppose to walk with a friend but the weather might prevent that. Ginny

I like your quilt tops check!
I have rolled over and broken off a stem on three pair of glasses, and I can't see the letters and words. That means a trip out to see if anything can be salvaged. Grrrr!
