CJ it's great to hear that you were able to go to a quilt show and that all wore masks. I know that concerns you. I haven't seen hardly anyone with masks on here. I guess everyone is just tired of all this and are kind of in denial. I know I'm tired of it and I don't use a mask anymore either and you know how strict I was before. We even left the mail in the garage for about a week before opening it. And because I've decided not to use a mask anymore sure doesn't mean that I'm advising anyone else to give up using them. If anyone feels that the need or want to use one they should definitely do it. Masks can also help you from catching colds and maybe even filter out espollen so allergies aren't so bad.
Even though it's seriously hot here I've been crocheting all day. For all the time I've spent crocheting, though, it doesn't seem like I got much of it done.I still have 19 rows and the border. I'm thinking of making one of those double or envelope borders. I have to watch a youtube though and see how it's done. It covers ends nicely.
Well guess I'll go and watch that video..take care everyone

Ginny and Phyl, I guess I somehow missed your messages
Phyl, I'm so glad you don't have any pain from your procedure.
Ginny, that stinks about the dishwasher. I'm glad you have a confirmed app't now though.
CJ, wish I could find some farm that was selling strawberries. There's nothing like a good ripened in the field strawberry. I love them.

Good morning all!
Phyl- hope that you wake up this morning comfortable and with minimal or no swelling or pain. I am so very glad to hear that your lab report came back clean. That is awesome news.
Ruth, its going to be seriously hot here today (mid 90’s) and I too will be crafting. Are your temperatures supposed to cool off at all?
I am in for 2 hot days and then, thankfully, it cools off.
Got some blocks made last night and I remembered I have to cut more batting. I did make 3 blocks last night and wound a few bobbins. Going to get my walk in in a few minutes after I clean up some email, then after my walk will spend a few minutes in the vegetable garden. I will be able to pick some lettuce this morning. See ya later Ginny

Phyl, that's great news. I'm sending a prayer of thanks
Ginny, it's great that you have lettuce ready to pull or cut. I'm sure you've seen the price of lettuce in the food stores...it's high.I'm glad you were able to get some blocks made. I guess the batting is for the quilt as your go quilt. It's supposed to cool down here on Monday so probably will go shopping. We don't like to go when it's so hot and have to carry all the bags in in the heat.
I'm hoping that I'll get the body of this blanket done today then tomorrow I might be able to do at least part of the border.
Have a good day all. Stay cool and stay hydrated.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are having a good day Phyl - I'm glad to hear the doctor didn't find any problems and that you are feeling better. Ginny - I hope you were able to pick your lettuce before it got too hot. What variety of lettuce is it? Ruth - I'm glad you can wait until Monday to do your shopping. I try to pick the coolest day of the week to do mine too. I wish you could find some fresh strawberries. I'd really like to stop wearing my mask in stores now, but we still have at least 50% of the people wearing them, so I'll probably keep doing it more to protect myself at this point. I have gone in a few stores without one. Sue - Hope you are well. I didn't hear back from the repair man from the roofing company, I hope I do on Monday. It might be an easy fix that will save me getting more water from the ceiling. I'm trying not to be too stressed about it. I haven't worked on my hand quilting, it is just too hot in the house to have that laying over my hands. Hopefully I can work on it next week when it gets cooler again. It's in the lows 90s here right now and I have all the curtains pulled, so I hope that is keeping some of the heat out. I also have fans on and that helps. I know I wasn't supposed to work on a new project , but I'm going to participate in a quick quilt along for a small 15 inch quilt and I thought I'd like to test out the pattern first. I was able to make the center of the quilt which is the 4 churn dashes, but I didn't want to make all those individual flying geese units - 44 of them. So I was testing out using the 4 at a time method, but I couldn't get them to be the right size. So I just improvised and put on a border of them around the churn dash and then a plain outer border. I'd been wanting to use some of my reproduction style fabrics, so I used them for this test quilt. It ended up measuring 18x18. The colors are more of a rust and tan and not as bright as the picture is. The quilt that we'll make in the quilt along is at the link below. The pattern is free, and I got a free kit of the red and blue fabrics by placing an order with her store - she had a special for that last week. I received the fabrics and my order today so I've already starched and pressed the fabrics and I'll get them cut before the quilt along starts on Friday. heartspunquilts.blogspot.com/2022/05/quilt-archaeology-remembering-betsy.htmlI'm including a picture of my test quilt and also a picture of the new container I bought for my 2.5 inch squares with all of them in it. I just need to get them organized by color. I didn't think they'd fill the container up, I was surprised! Take care everyone

I really like the test quilt and I really like the container you got. I have this thing for containers and tote bags. Ilove them. And congrats on getting a free kit. With a deal like that you had to buy Have I told you lately how much I dislike Amazon. I ordered a grass trimmer and some extension cords for it and went to look for the tracking info. None in my email. So I went to Amazon''s site and it says they cancelled my order.. wouldn't you think they would send you an email telling you that they cancelled and why? ?

CJ, I love the quilt on that site. I love the flying geese but when I looked back at the ones I made at my series of lessons I realized I didn't do a good job; I need more practice

Ruth, just try again!!! No one makes flying geese perfectly the first time, it does take some practice and a good flying geese ruler does help. I know you might not take on quilting at this time- but I know you can do it when you decide to. Personally, I try to avoid Amazon. Got a personal preference for Walmart- perhaps its because I know there are actual stores to make returns at.
CJ- love your test block and the mini quilt. Do not blame you for wanting to do that, and free fabric? What is wrong with that? (Nothing!) what color scheme is the free fabric?? Hope your roofers get in contact with you soon.
My patriotic quilt panel arrived today. (For a quilt for my DBIL)

Had company all day untill just a few minutes ago.I'm just getting to my laptop now.
I hope you all had a good day. CJ, I hope those roofers get back to you. Of course this is their busy season but they need to contact you and fix the problem
Ginny, I hope your a/c problem will be taken care of soon.
This laptop is so touchy. I wrote a fairly long email to a friend and all of a sudden the whole thing was highlighted and flitted away.
Gonna get some crocheting now. Have a good evening

Nope, got no specific plans for Memorial Day weekend at all. Think my oldest Dd is traveling, and not sure about DD#2. Ds is traveling also- so it could be not a quiet weekend but a less busy one than normal.
Phyl, I love Country Woman magazine, been subscribing for many years and I really enjoy it. Sounds like you had a busy day.
Ruth - hope that you enjoyed your visit with company and that the weather cooperates for a pleasant evening.
My AC is fixed, it needed more coolant. And there is a cold front coming so things should be more civilized soon, I hope.
CJ- hope those roofers check in with you tomorrow.
And I got some more strips cut along with more batting….progress slow but steady. G

Hello Phyl - I'm glad you are feeling better and were able to get all those errands/shopping done. Ruth - Hope you enjoyed the company. Ginny - I'm glad your AC is fixed, you are probably getting a lot of the same hot weather I have. I hope the roofers call tomorrow too. I'd just appreciate getting an appointment set up even if it's not until the end of the week or the next. I think if they don't get something set up by the end of this coming week, I'll try to find another company. The frustrating thing is it could just a be a very quick repair job (maybe some flashing pulled loose), but it's just getting them to come here! The house is very hot and I'm miserable. I don't want to set up the AC units until I can get the roof fixed since I need to have access to the window upstairs to see the roof and downstairs I have things pulled out of the room the water came into where I would put the AC unit downstairs. I feel like my life is a mess I worked a bit with the leftover fabric from the small quilt I made yesterday. I didn't want to fold it back up after I'd already pressed and starched it. I also pressed and starched the fabric for the quilt along and hope to get all that cut up and ready to piece when the quilt along starts. I may go ahead and work on those flying geese since there are 44 of them to make and 88 little 1.5 inch squares to sew onto each side. I figure that will take the longest to get done. Take care everyone
