Oh My Ruth!! Are you ok?Not that I think it is anything other than dehydration but I wonder if you checked your blood pressure. I hope that the dizziness is all gone, but also hope that you will seek medical attention if it does not go away. You also might want to stay with Dh (he stays in the air conditioning, I wonder if it would be a good idea to stay near that to help you keep safe and comfortable. I am so very glad you were not injured…and thank you for the reminder to stay hydrated. Does drinking more water make managing your IC any easier? Its good to hear that your errands and shopping are all done. Bet its good to be back to your normal routines.
I worked this am and am home for the day. It was nice and cloudy this morning which kept it comfortable. The clouds are gone, and its getting hot. I am totally glad to be home. The cats are also! I have to slightly modify the assembly directions for the panel quilt to accomodate the different corner blocks but knowing roughly how well it will fit will be helpful.
BBL to see who checks in. Ginny

Thank you, Ginny. Yes it's orthosatic hypotension which is usually caused by dehydration or a medication.. The day I fell I stayed near dh all day and planned that if that happened again I would make a doctor appointment. Yesterday I just had a little of dizzyness and felt fine by the time we went out. No problem today at all. Nothing like keeping yourself hydrated to make a person feel better.
I'm glad it was cooler for you when you went out this morningl YOu and CJ are both so talented that you can make adjustments in a pattern in order to make it more to your liking. YOur bil is going to love this quilt.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's 79 here and cloudy, so not too bad. Ginny - Sounds like you got a lot done yesterday. I hope that you like the cornerstones and they work well for you. Ruth - I'm glad you were not hurt when you fell and that you are feeling better today I always worry about falling and try to be careful. I do drink a lot of water each day, usually about 8-10 cups. It's just a habit I've been in every time I diet and now even when I'm not in that mode I've kept the habit. I finished my two Summer Camp blocks and got all the sashing finished too (just have to trim them), so I'm relieved to be caught up with that quilt along. Next I'll work on the Moda blocks for this week. I'd like to get the fabrics pulled and cut today so I could just piece tomorrow, but I have to see. I've found several other quilt alongs I want to get involved in, I'm trying to pull myself back Meadow Mist designs has a new mystery starting this month and the first clue is just getting your fabric together. This mystery runs from now until April. I may consider doing this one, since she has a "sneak" look at the pattern for those of us who don't like a complete mystery. I know I'd hate to put a lot of work and fabric into a quilt and then hate the outcome. Here's a link to info on this quilt along: meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/p/melodic-mystery-quilt.htmlI was also talking to someone about Sudoku quilts and I saw a layout for a Staircase Sudoku puzzle and now I want to make a quilt of that. Here are a few pictures to show you, take care everyone Sudoku Staircase layout - You'd need 12 fabrics for this i.postimg.cc/zf1LZPXS/staircase-sudoku-puzzle-themed-triangles-answer.png

Good evening-
CJ you have been busy- as usual!!! For the sudoku quilt I assume each block is a single color(as in a 9 patch block per block, if I am making any sense). Think I might go batty with that one and 12 different fabrics. But its nice to dream. Ok I snuck a peak. And yes I like the melodic mystery quilt- its a pretty design and in the right colors would be stunning. I am not surprised that you are considering making it. Glad you get all your water in during a day! Its just a great healthy habit.
Ruth, thanks for the scientific/medical name and I am so glad that you are ok but did stick by Dh for a day or so. Good to learn that today you felt fine. Now just remember to drink that water!!
I did some ironing today and got the border assembled. Tomorrow is final decision day regarding which corner stone to use, but I am really hoping that the sawtooth star block works out well.
Hope everyone sleeps well Ginny

Hello Everyone Ginny - Sorry you had trouble getting to sleep, that's a common thing for me Hope you get better sleep tonight. Also hope you have figured out your cornerstones. I was able to able to get my Moda Blockheads blocks done this morning and started on the Laundry Basket blocks, but I need to watch the video several more times and re-read the pattern too before cutting anymore. I have trouble figuring out her patterns. I've also laid out all my Moda Blocks so far (16 of them) and by the time I have 30 of them for the quilt top this quilt is going to be really large. The blocks are not looking great right next to each other and I'm thinking I might have to add sashing I guess I'll see how it goes as we keep making blocks. I could make them into 2 quilts, but I'd really like to show them all together. I was thinking how there are so many different "styles" of quilt patterns and it's really nice when we find one that matches our style. I think Pat Sloan's is the closest to what works best for me. Her pattern instructions are clear and not very complicated. It is nice to challenge myself sometimes, but it's also nice when it's easy I did try to remake that one Moda 5 inch block I had problems with earlier and it came out wrong again, so I put it away and I'm not going to work on it. I know the pattern must have been correct since so many people made their blocks, but I must be doing something wrong. I've wasted enough time on it. Hope you are all getting to do some crafting today. Take care

CJ- sometimes its best to do what you are doing, just walk away from a block and return to it another day or week or when (or if!) you feel up to it. There absolutely is an art to writing good directions, and some folks have it, some do not. The best way to write directions is to spell out everything, taking nothing for granted and assuming that the user knows nothing about what they are doing. I remember doing the BOM and seeing that the shop owner, who thought her directions were excellent actually left many sub steps out and made too many assumptions. And for that reason, I do understand why you like making Pat Sloan quilts, many feel the same as you do. Back to the moda blocks. I noticed it is a busy quilt, lots going on. Guess a couple of options would be to use sashing, repeat a few blocks (some of the more plain ones) or make it into two quilts. Again its a personal taste thing, and you quilt to make yourself happy, so that should be the end goal.
About every third or fourth night I have no trouble falling asleep, and that is probably because I am so exhausted. Last night I tried listening to a podcast which was supposed to be an adult bedtime story. Honestly it drove me nuts. And I turned if off. Obviously that did not work. This weather is not conducive to me sleeping well, its a shame that even with AC, I struggle with heat. Sad, but I am looking forward to fall weather.
I worked this am - ran to the store (did some shopping for Dd who had run out of some items) and then went to her house to celebrate DGS#2 birthday. I had not seen the kids in a week, and ended up spending a big chunk of the day there. I wish I could say that I got some crafting done, but I did not.
Hope each of you did get some crafting time in today and that you sleep well tonight! Ginny

Ginny - I feel for you with AC and heat issues, I know how that is I'm glad you were able to be there to celebrate your DGS birthday Phyl - I'm happy you found some things to buy at the two stores. The block #5 that I posted is from Pat Sloan's Summer Camp quilt along: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2022/07/-summer-camp-block-5-nature-walk-prep-1.htmlwww.ilovetomakequilts.com/2022-summer-camp-qal.htmlThese blocks are nice and easy and being 12.5 inches, no small pieces Ruth - I hope you are doing well. I see that the Moda Blockheads put out a bonus block today, but I'm going to pass on this one. It's very much like the one I'd been trying to make and having problems with. There are going to be 36 blocks total, but I've decided now that I'm only going to use 30 in my quilt top. So I have to pick 6 blocks not to use, and I already have 2 that I'm not going to use. I've rewatched the Laundry Basket quilt video a few times and I have my HST ready to start cutting up and then putting back together The block this week is a Delectable Mountain pattern and we have to make 16 of them. I'll be glad to get these finished. Have a good evening

CJ, it's hard for crafters to pass on making a new item that is very appealling. If you see a quilt that you really like, yes, you should defintely put it on your to do list or even start it right away. Some pattern writers for crochet are the same as what you and Ginny said in that they take too much for granted and don't give enough detail. Then there are the ones that are extrodinarily too detailed and it gets tedious using their pattern or video.I do agree that you should set that block aside for now. I did go to the melodic pattern site you mentioned yesterday. It is very nice but looks like a lot of work. I'm sure you will more than do it justice
Ginny, I do hope you will be able to get some better sleep. I've never used any of those so called sleep inducing podcasts or other things claiming to help you get to sleep sooner. They'd drive me crazy also. I bet your dgs #2 had a great time at his party. Last year he was really too young to know what was going on. I bet the grandchildren were very happy to see you.You can do quilting anytime...grandchildren grow up too fast so you gotta get in time with them while you can
There was a lot more I was going to say but forgot.
I was seriously thinking of giving up on this afgan last night so I did what CJ did with her quilt block and that is,, set it aside so that I would have time to decide if I wanted to look for a different pattern for the chevron or disappoint dgd by telling her I couldn't do this one. Well this morning I picked it up on the row I couldn't seem to get to work out right and bingo! It went perfectly. I've learned a lot of lessons making this one. I'm glad it's coming out right (except for the puff stitch rows) and since I do have one successful puff stitch row toward the beginning of the afghan I'll put one on the opposite end to match and otherwise just keep alternating rows of dc and rows of fpdc. It's still going to take a long time to complete because it's to be a pretty long blanket.

Hi Ruth - I'm glad to hear that you've got the chevron afghan working right no I hope the rest of it goes well too The way I'm feeling today - just kind of tired of quilt alongs - I don't think I'll do that other mystery quilt. I really need to get the ones I'm working on finished and seriously stop myself from participating in more than one or two at a time. This has been a good lesson for me not to over extend myself. I've been re-thinking the Moda blockheads quilt for when I'm ready to put the top together and if I did what I first thought about doing, it would measure 100 inches long That's just too big for me. I think the better idea might be to just use 16 blocks (4 rows of 4 blocks) in a top and make two tops. I'd love for the blocks to all be together in one quilt, but I don't want to make a large quilt. This way I could do some border designs that I've been thinking about. I'll keep my options open but this might be the way to go. I'll be really happy when this quilt along is done in September

Good morning, Wow. Lots to read after my post last night but that is great. So good to see almost everyone checking in. (Sue, we miss you and hope you are ok!).
CJ- yes sounds like a good idea to break the moda blockhead quilt into two quilt tops, it makes for 2 quilts in more managable size and a way to “dilute” so much pattern. Just remembering your posts in making this quilt, you have shown some frustration over it - and while its a pretty quilt, its got a busy look. Yes keep your options open, but make it how you like. You have always amazed me taking on QAL’s as they come out. Should you need to take a break, that is fine. The more you make the more you can evaluate what you like and dislike, although I know you have a strong sense of that already.
Ruth, so glad you prevailed over the chevron afghan pattern!!!! Are you still intending on giving this one to your DGD? And yes, I do the same thing, I start chattering here and then forget what I wanted to say. Indeed there is an art to getting directions done correctly. Just think, years ago we had to buy patterns - spending money on what we can now access for free- and if those purchased patterns had mistakes.it was doubly infuriating.
Phyl- sounds like another good outing for you, and I am glad to hear that HL had the fabric you were looking for. Do you have plans to make some paper pieced blocks? Think that is a great idea to have pre printed log cabin blocks, but you would need a lot of paper for an entire quilt top in log cabin. That is on my someday to do list….
A cool (sort of ) morning. Going to go out and weed and mulch to enjoy the cool breeze and sound of the birds. I am in for a hot week here with no rain, so I will take advantage of the pleasant weather now and finish the gardening I wanted to get done (which I won’t want to do in the heat!!!
Got a few things to do today, and hope that I can get to my machine later on.

GOOD MORNING, THE LITTLE BOOK,KINDA LIKE A DESK SIZE CALENDAR HAS 42 PAGES IN IT FOR PAPER PIECING, ACTUALLY I HAVE TWO BOOKS.
a few years ago I bought the first book, looked like one of the pages had like a slice in it.I should have taken it back ,but did not. oh well it won't hurt to have a few extra pages if I GOOF UP.
there are still seats left on the bus, still can't convince Don.PAULINE agrees with him. she thinks I am skating on thin ice.Don is a good caregiver, least he doesn't have to push me around in a wheel chair, feed me, or clean me up.
I know what pattern I want to make out of my purple, red, and green stripes fabric. it is from MSC quilt company.JENNY had a video on it yesterday, called constellations.hope I can make it smaller.
cj, I did looka t block 5,I have never done a block like that.phyl

CJ, think it was pat's yesterday email, she is showing the block 5 by quilters. the most clearest one I looked at is click on the blue f. there is one with white background fabric, flowers in the lower left and upper right corners.
looks to me like you make your 4 patch and then just frame around it with your other strips. maybe kinda even like building a log cabin only not the true log cabin. hope this helps.
some of the m she showed I KNOW YOU CAN DO A LOT BETTER.maybe after taking some time off ,you can get it out and see what you might need to do. phyl.

Hello Everyone Phyl - Block #5 actually uses all 2.5 inch strips (and squares) and you make it in 4 parts (half log cabin blocks) and then join together. Pat Sloan's pattern shows it very well, in case you want to try it. I like the way she shows pictures of the quilt blocks each week on her videos. I watched that MSQC video yesterday, that's a pretty quilt, hope you can make it - it would look pretty in those colors Ginny - Hope you were able to get some things done outside today while it's cooler. We're getting more rain here, after heavy rain last night. Ruth - Hope you are getting to work on your afghan. After all my talk last night about the Moda Blockheads quilt, I decided I will just make one quilt top with 16 blocks in it and finish and be done with the fabrics I've been using. I like these fabrics, but I haven't been totally happy with them when used together. I'm going to add sashing and cornerstones around the blocks, and then add a larger border of the floral fabric. I'll have some extra blocks left that I can put into a small project. I felt such relief after deciding this, so I realized it was bothering me and on my mind. I will try to make the rest of the blocks but I want to use some brighter, more colorful fabric, so I'll see what I can pull from my stash - and I may only make the larger blocks. Those 5 inch blocks are stressful to make Today I'm working on cutting up the HSTs for the Laundry Basket quilt along to make the delectable mountain blocks. There's a bit of waste in her method, so I'm saving some of the larger pieces and I'll figure out something to do with them. I'm hoping to get all the blocks cut up and ready to sew - which I would probably save until tomorrow. Hope you all are having some nice weather and getting to do some crafting. Take care and have a good day!
