I'm not naming dates because they're pretty muddled lol
Left foot big toe was red, warm. Self medicated keflex and augmentin. About 5 days later noticed a rash on/around my elbow joints, both feet also had cellulitis (answering earlier questions: I was soaking both feet together, wound care doctor said that's probably how it spread to both feet).
Went to urgent care, they took me off the augmentin and put me on bactrim (sulfa drug).
Next day went to my doctor and she agreed with the bactrim.
Went back a week later(Friday I think), and she added clindamycin to the bactrim because it didn't look any better. She refered me to the wound care doctor.
Monday went to the ER, just felt bad and the feet were pretty red. Doctor there agreed with the meds I was on and said they didn't look bad. Did blood tests*
Went back to the ER Tuesday because I was sick, couldn't eat or drink much. Doc gave me something for nausea (I don't remember it was a pill that dissolves on your tongue) and said take it 3xa day as needed. Did blood tests**
Went to wound care doctor Wednesday (that would have been Aug 10th) and he said it looked like it was healing, prescribed 2 different ointments for it (1 for 'raw' skin and 1 for scabby).
Left his office, very bright sunshine and hot, got it the car and started feeling really itchy on my back.
Got home, asked Ron is I had a rash and he said yes, a little red.
Woke up the next morning (Thursday) covered from head to toe. Picture a boiled lobster, and itchy like crazy. Went back to the ER early that morning, doc said reaction to bactrim, took me off that, gave me benedryl and hydrocortozine ointment and a shot. Did blood tests***
Later that day (Thursday) had a doctors appt, she said the feet looked better.
I did not eat or drink hardly anything Thursday because of the nausea. I think I had a piece of toast and a bottle of powerade.
Friday very lethargic. Ron made me eat 2 pieces of toast and drink some powerade in the morning. I didn't get out of bed until around 7pm other than to go to the bathroom 2x all day.
I went to the bathroom and couldn't get off the toilet. Ron had to help me up, he had my wheelchair out, I was standing at the sink when he turned to get it, I fainted. Luckily I fainted straight down so I didn't hit anything.
I could not get up, I didn't want him to hurt himself so we called an ambulance.
They were great. Got me up, checked me out, didn't think anything was broken but I felt so "off" I opted to go to the hospital.
Several hours and probably 8 blood draws and 3 IVs later, they admitted me for sepsis.
After that the next week or so Deb kept you all informed (thanks so much Deb) but they had to push fluids because I was so dehydrated, they kept blowing the IVs trying to get my fluids up.
It's kind of a blur really.
The reason I ***'s the blood tests it because through all that, not one of these doctors caught the sepsis.
Dr House said I'd probably been septic for several days if not longer. He was going to review the tests but I'm sure I won't ever know if they screwed up.
When they admitted me, my white blood count was 27,000. more than twice the normal "high" count for infection. It doesn't do that overnight.
BTW my family doctor quit last week lol I think I broke her. I'd only been her patient a month
