Ginny, I've been making the fried cabbage for years and years. Dh used to mke it also and during one of western Ny's famous blizzards he made some when I was stranded at the hospital working and ds who was only about 6 told him that his was better than mine . I couldn't really share a recipe because I don't use one. Just put the shredded cabbage into a pan with a little evoo and put on a lid and let it wilt some then add soy sauce and garlic powder and for the last few years a touch of cayenne. It goes well as a side dish with pork and ham especially but we eat it with a lot of things. I'm glad you found some fabric you liked and already have a plan for it. Can't wait to see the pictures. I missed your earlier post. I don't know how that happened but I'm glad to hear that the credit card snafu was straightened out. CJ, I don't ever agree to have recurring charges on my credit cards either and it looks like Ginny doesn't either. I do have one bill that I allow my bank to receive bills for and auto pay every month.

GOOD EVENING, I must have overdone it yesterday, getting the house ready for when Nancy and family pull in Friday.
I stated going through the clothes yesterday, that were on the futron downstairs. the jeans and shorts I can't get into with this bloating, don't need to be ironed. DON brung the clothes upstairs and I folded a lot of sweaters, sweatshirts, today took somethings out of the closet and put them on shelves.
I HAD A CHIRO APPOINTMENT MONDAY,AND TUESDAY I did all that,I HURT TRYING TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT.
SO NO CRAFTING FOR A FEW DAYS. TODAY I finally got The printer to print out the directions to Christmas time. yesterday it just wanted to print out sheets.
CJ I REALLY LIKE THAT BLOCK 5, think it would make a cute lap; size quilt with just those blocks. I also decided not to do the sewlists challenge.was a nice thought, don't want to be tied down either with them.phyl

Phyl, sounds like you have been a busy bee, getting set for your company this weekend. Are they staying all weekend? Going through clothes is no picnic- I dislike the seasonal switch from warm and cold to back…Sorry to hear that you were aching last night. Hopefully you were able to get some sleep without too much discomfort. I agree with you for not taking on a monthly challenge, there is a lot of pressure when a new block is coming out weekly. Even monthly quilt alongs or BOM can feel overwhelming at times. You will get back to crafting after this weekend, when your company has returned home.
Ruth, Well I might give that fried cabbage a try! It actully reminds me of the stuffing for egg rolls and I bet it tastes good. Western NY? Blizzards?? Ha ha ha. Lake effect snow sure is a strange phenomena And that is ok, back to the recipe- I have many recipes that I just make and just wing it through the process of cooking.
The only recurring charges I have are for my trash pick up and cable bill- both companies email or text me when the charge comes through and I can check the bank at that time. Lovely weather here today, but I hear that it turns colder this weekend.

Phyl, I'm sorry to hear that you are in pain from working so hard. I hope you feel better soon. It will be great to have your family there visiting
Ginny, which color are you using for the trees and which for the blocks?
We had nice weather here too. Just got home from PT and another visit to Walmart.

The trees will be the black/green print and the blocks the red tonal. Cannot say that I got the fabrics I really wanted but think that what I did buy will work up well.

Hello Everyone Phyl - I hope you enjoy your tine with Nancy and her family Hope you are feeling better today. Ginny - Those fabrics look great for that pretty pattern Ruth - Hope you are enjoying some crocheting. I make fried cabbage like that too - sometimes I add in some cooked chicken. Sue - Hope you are well. The weather has been really nice here, sunny and in the 70s yesterday and today. It was a nice change from that cool and rainy weather. I finished making a small (36x44) Halloween quilt top. It would be a fun quilt for a child. I was going to make a Halloween table runner too, but decided not to. The next monthly clue for the Melodic Melody quilt along came out yesterday and it's for a bunch of half square triangles and then making 4 star blocks. So I hope to start working on those and fortunately I have all month. Take care everyone and have a great weekend!

Here's the Halloween quilt top. I call it "All Halloween" since the fabrics have jack o lanterns, black cats, witch's hats, candy corn and ghosts:

CJ, that's the perfect quilt for Halloween! I love those colors and the figures on the fabrics.
It's supposed to get down to 35 tonight. My poor plants have already wilted from the cold last few nights. Tonight will really do a number on them. They aren't something I can bring into the house.. My petunias have looked terrible ever since I got them and just recently really started to grow and bloom.
I worked on reorganizing my pantry since we stocked up on some things the last couple weeks.I also did some crocheting and will do more now.
See you all tomorrow

Good morning and Happy Saturday!
Ruth, same here- its supposed to get pretty cold here tonight. Sorry about your plants and not liking cold weather. Yes, that is coming for both of us, winter weather and a winter landscape. That stinks about the petunias, with your trip to Indiana, guess you got a late start planting flowers. Its always nice to get the pantry restocked and reorganized, especially during winter when we tend to cook more from pantries then trips to the store.
CJ- the Halloween quilt is so cute and cheery!! You have done quite a job of collecting fabrics for Halloween- were they all from your stash? Not sure I have checked out the melodic melody quilt, is that also a Pat Sloan creation?? Sounds like fun and not too much pressure.
Crafting today will be with the grandkids today, going to help them make their room picture kits from board and brush.
Later G

Hello Everyone - Hope you are having a good day Ruth - Hope you can get your pantry organized and get some crocheting done. Sorry it's getting so cold there Ginny - Hope you enjoyed the crafting with the grandkids. I did have all those Halloween fabrics in my stash The Melodic Melody mystery is by Meadow Mist Designs: meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/p/melodic-mystery-quilt.htmlIf you scroll down you can see where she has given the fabric/cutting requirements and the first two clues. She also has a link you can click on to see a sneak peak of the quilt design. I wouldn't have done this quilt along if I wasn't able to see the final layout and I liked it well enough to participate. She asks that no one share the picture of the quilt layout, so it's kind of interesting on her Facebook page where some participants know how their fabrics are going to look in the blocks and other quilters are totally keeping the design a mystery. I made a quilt top today using a charm pack of fabrics by French General "Bonheur De Jour". I wanted to try this design and the top really went together quickly. I put a small strip on two sides of each charm square and added a cornerstone. Then I laid them out using the design for the Falling Charms quilt (MSQC). I also added a small inner border and larger outer border. The quilt top finished at 46x51, so not very big. If you had two charm packs it would make a nice larger quilt. I think I will make this again using another charm pack I have. Take care everyone!

Yes, CJ, that quilt top is so pretty!!! I have used the falling charms MSQ pattern, and its fun and easy to work with.l the fabrics are really pretty, I tend to like the tonal grey beige patterns, sometimes I just like subtle fabrics. This turned out really well and I am glad you had fun making that. Its sure funny how the quilt top is supposed to be a big mystery, yet is no surprise to anyone who really looks for it. A few years ago I investigated a mystery quilt, where you had to read a novel and at the end of each chapter there was a clue to the next months quilt block. It sounded like a lot of fun, but I knew at the time I did not have the time to put into it. Was this one of your pre made “kits” that you had put together?
Ruth, you amaze us with your ability to come up with a different pattern for afghans and hats, a process that seems effortless for you. Don’t sell yourself short.
Long day but I had a blast making the board and brush pictures with the kids. They turned out so cute, I just finished mine about 5 minutes ago, and just need to sand it a bit and hammer in the hanger. Nice to get some crafting time in today.
Pulled my trees in (Norfolk island pine, orange and lemon) for last night and we did get a light frost. It seems early that they are in, but at least now I do not have to worry about them. I have 10 lemons on and probably 50 orange blossoms….most do eventually produce oranges and it smells great when they open. Think I am going to make an apple crisp for Bible study tomorrow night. Guess I will have to make it in the toaster oven, as my oven is pretty much out of order. (New oven arrives in 10 days). Will include a picture of my simple board and brush “painting”. G
