Rainy day here, but they say that it is supposed to pass and clear up a bit. Had a ton of trouble falling asleep last night, so I am tired today. BBL Ginny

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today It's cooler here and was nice earlier then we had a shower go through this afternoon, but it's getting sunny again. Ruth - Sounds like you enjoy all the different hat patterns I was reading someone's blog recently and she tries to make 50 hats a year, but this year she had made 80! Ginny - Sorry you are tired today, hope you get some rest tonight. Did you enjoy the last episode of Chesapeake Shores? Did everyone in the family end up being alright? I'm working on a new quilt top, it has Thanksgiving themed fabric in it. It's a pretty repeating print that I didn't want to cut up much (and it's difficult to cut those right), so I just cut the yard into 4 long strips and I'm adding some 4 patch rows between the strips. Should be pretty quick to make and I'm happy to get to use this fabric I've had for years. I've learned to try to avoid repeating fabrics since they are so difficult to use, but I really love them Hope you are all getting to do some crafting. Take care!

CJ- its so nice to use a fabric you have had plans on using for a long time…and yes hard when you do not want to cut up a pattern. Fall/Thanksgiving fabrics usually have such pretty colors. Hope that working with the fabric makes you happy (isn’t it funny how working with fabric can bring a smile to your face!). Pretty quick means you will finish it in a day….you do get a lot accomplished when you quilt.
I got 5 QAYG blocks done last night, and some done on a 6th- where I have to take out 2 rows because I messed up. I am unsure how many more blocks I can make, based upon the amount of fabric I have left. Guess I will finish up all the jelly roll strips and figure out the best lay out. I am looking forward to the layout phase.
Ok CJ - you asked….
Mick and Megan get re married (ok that is good), Kevin and Sarah have a little boy, Bree seems to be in a stable relationship with Luke (new character), Abby gets engaged to Evan (new character, not a big fan of him), Jess and David announce that Jess is pregnant, Connor and his gf Margaret seem to be more stable, So in the last scene, Mick (Treat Williams, actor) seems to choke up….the series has come a long way, the characters have come a long way and I still miss Jesse Metcalf. Ha ha ha
Hope Ruth is doing ok. Hope I can fall asleep tonight in a reasonable amount of time. Tossing and turning for 3 1/2 hours is for the birds
Phyl and Sue hope you are doing well.

CJ, I'm glad that you were able to find a way to use a fabric that you thought would be difficult to work with. I'm glad you're happy with it. My goal in hats for this month was 10 but I have 17 made now. Of course some were those that already had the ribbed brim finished and that's the most time consuming part. Anyway I got off the subject but Thanksgiving fabrics are very beautifull. Thanksgiving and Easter are my favorite holidays
Ginny, it sound like you got a lot done in quilting also. Yes I've had those nights where I tossed and turned for 3 or 4 hours. That is truly torture. I hope you get some rest tonight. I was thinking of you earlier when I was crocheting and trying not to fall asleep. Crocheting sometimes does that...makes me drowsy
Well I got Olaf's face done then wondered about a way to put his head and body together so that his head wouldn't flop. Finally I took advice I saw in the facebook groups and that I've mentioned to others facing the same problem. I crocheted a dense rectangle then I cut two strip off one of my cutting mats (for food cutting) and wrapped those in the rectangle and it seems to have worked pretty well. Now I have to sew on his feet and make and sew on the arms and tufts of hair which are only a chain and ss back up the chain. It seems pretty easy. Then I will make another Olaf with a different pattern, a little purse for the 3 and 5 year old dggd's and something for the youngest dggs. I need to pick out one of my unfinished blankets so I can do the edging which was another of my goals for the month.
DH decided not to go for any more PT until he sees the neck and spine specialist next month. The therapist told him it's possible the things they have him do may make his hip worse and it did and not only that but now his other hip also hurts. We'll see what happens next.

Good morning! Ruth, you sure have been busy, making 17 hats this month and the month is not even over yet! I am so very sorry that PT has possibly made Dh’s hip worse! Has he gotten any relief from his discomfort? Hope he is pleasant to be with….for your sake. Sometimes uncomfortable people are not pleasant to be around.. That is quite a solution for Olaf’s head, which I am happy to hear does not flop now. Once again, you have well set yourself up with projects to keep you crocheting. Do you have plans for the unfinished blanket that you will be putting an edging on? Just wondering if it will to to a great grandchild, as you had that mentioned in the same sentence.
Thankfully I slept well enough. Going to bring my crochet with me today, as I have no idea how many little ones I am watching today.
Have a great day!

I posted earlier today but it's not here....I had a nice long post too
Found out just a little while ago that dh's mother died this morning. She was very old. He hadn't seen her since 1991 and she never kept in touch. She had basically abandoned her children when my dh was 8. I'm sure he feels bad but probably only that he never really had a real mother. She lived in ONtario Canada so, of course we're not going back there for her funeral or anything. Neither of us can believe she lived this long with the habits she had

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad that you slept better last night and hope you were able to get some crocheting done today. Ruth - I'm sorry for your DH's loss, and it's sad that his mother couldn't have been there for her children. I hope that his hip is feeling better. I went out this morning to run some errands and get a few groceries so I haven't done any quilting today. I'm hoping to do some tomorrow morning. I woke up around 5:00 A.M. and never could get back to sleep, so I'm tired and hoping I'll sleep better tonight. It's gotten really cool here, they say we'll have a frost tonight. Take care.

Ruth, my sincere condolences on the loss of your mother in law. Even if she was a bad mother, she gave your Dh to this world for you to love and spend your life with. Yes, its a shame that she was not the best mother- I will pray for him as he accepts this loss, and pray for you as you help him process the news of her passing.
CJ- yes we have cooler fall weather. Glad you got some errands in this morning and hope you can get back to quilting tomorrow. G

Thank you so much CJ and Ginny. The worst news he got today was that his brother who had surgery and chemo for prostate cancer has had a recurrence of his cancer and is on chemo again. That is if the sister that told my dd this is telling the truth. She's known for "fabricating"

Aw Ruth, I am so very sorry to hear about your brother in law. Is he older or younger than your DH? I know that your Dh (and you too) just had bloodwork done, and I am sure they are monitoring your DH’s PSA. There is a lot that they can do with individuals with prostate cancer, and as my Dh was told, most men do not die from prostate cancer, but from something non related. (Prostate cancer runs in Dh’s family, his brother and father both survived it, his brother is actually now considered cancer free, as his PSA has been zero for many years post treatment). Anyway, will pray for your Dh and his brother. That is news that no one wants to hear.

My brother in law is younger than my dh, Ginny. He must have not paid attention to what was happening in his body and probaMbly didn't even know about PSA tests and he waited too long to be seen by a doctor because he had to have quite extensive surgery then chemo. My brother has prostate cancer but apparently the very slow growing type and his doctor follows the wait and see standard with PSA's periodically. We asked our doctor about a PSA test for dh but she said that PSA's are no longer recommended because of so many false positives. That was before his brother ended up with prostate cancer so when we talk to her again I'm going to insist he have a PSA drawn.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well and having some nice weather. It's a lot cooler here today, but it was sunny. Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about your BIL and hope that he will be alright. My father and one of my brothers had prostrate cancer, they both survived it with radiation. Once my father reached a certain age (probably late 80s) they quit testing his PSA because as you said they figured he would die of something else instead of that (and he did). I believe my brother still has his PSA checked each year, so I think you are smart to get your husband to have his checked. It was actually life saving for my father that he was getting treated for prostate cancer. When they sent him for initial tests and x-rays before his radiation they found he had a triple aneurism in his stomach. If they had started radiation not knowing that, they said it would have killed him. It was just a miracle that it happened that way. Ginny - Hope you have been doing well and it hasn't been too cold there. Also hope you've got some crocheting done. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. I finished the Thanksgiving quilt top this morning and really like this design I used. It worked well for using a repeating fabric. I'm going to go through some of my repeating fabrics and maybe make a few kits to make this same quilt pattern with them. I also made the next blocks for Pat Sloan's Hometown Charms quilt along. We needed to make 4 blocks this week (Block #7) since they are repeated in the quilt top. It was a pretty tree block pattern. In her pattern she had a layout for using this block as a table runner, which I thought was cute and could be used with many different fabrics. www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2022/10/what-is-your-town-famous-for-block-7-of-hometown-charms-and-meet-the-quilts.htmlTomorrow I'm hoping to get back to those Fall/Autumn themed blocks I made several days ago. I'm liking them enough now to make a few more and make a wall hanging size quilt. Take care everyone

Ruth, well, hoping and praying for a good outcome for your brother in law. And I think it’s a great idea to have Dh’s PSA checked. I went with Dh to the urologist, who told him that the PSA was the “gold standard” but certainly not perfect. Dh’s last PSA went down (with no treatment) so the urologist basically said to take a wait and see approach and keep checking his PSA every 6 months. My FIL passed at the age of 86- from emphysema and not prostate cancer. I hope that your medical team respects your opinion and also your brother in laws medical history and that they agree to having a PSA done on Dh.
CJ- that is quite a story about prostate cancer saving your fathers life. Yes a miracle….or perhaps the hand of God extending your Dad’s life. That is awesome that you completed the Thanksgiving quilt top and are so pleased with how it turned out. What a great idea to make kits with this pattern, obviously you like the pattern and it works up well. That is the joy of crafting, when what you make is a joy to make and turns out well. This weeks tree pattern is so cute….and I am sure you will get the 4 blocks needed to be done this week done in no time. I hope that you are going to hang up your fall themed wall hanging, once you finish it!!!
My new stove arrived today, and it looks great. It has a tiny ding on the side that you cannot actually see, so Lowes gave me some money back to compensate. The tiny ding is super hard to notice, and does not impact how the stove works. Got some yard work done and raked some leaves. So I am a bit achy and will be taking a shower soon, and in for the night. Looks like Ds got stuck for a second shift, but he is off tomorrow. I just hope he gets home safely this evening.
Gonna get my shower in and then crochet.
Phyl and Sue you are missed and I hope you are well! Ginny
