Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

It’s Memorial Day, one of those days I feel awkward saying “Happy” before…..it’s a day of remembrance for sure. I ended up not attending the parade because I had to drop off something at my friends house- she is out of town and her husband is not feeling well, I dropped off a probiotic I had here which I hope will help settle his stomach. (He was just put on antibiotic and seems to be reacting to it)
Been playing with t shirts and I will watch the video again before I start actually trying to make some sense out of a t shirt quilt.
Hope you can get some crafting in!!!

I haven't done any crafting yet today. I don't want to be rude crocheting at someone else's house. I will later this evening Have a good evening everyone

Hello Ginny - Hope you can figure out how to work with the TShirts and they turn out well. Sorry you missed the parade. Ruth - Hope you get to do some crocheting later and you enjoy your visiting. After a week or so with no rain, we're getting rain today, so I guess we needed it. I haven't done any crafting and may not get much done this week. I'm working on some decluttering so I can call for a pick up of some items. The only thing I have ready to work on is the binding for the table mat so I would like to get it done this week. Take care

Ugh. I am about a quarter way through ironing and attaching interfacing to Tshirts. Sorry, but it’s boring and tedious. I need more interfacing too and will pick some up either tomorrow evening or Tuesday. For this evening, I hope to use up what I have cut already.
Next up is the second baby quilt - and I might start on the layout tomorrow if I do not get more interfacing then.
I must be a rude person….I used to crochet all the time at my inlaws but we would visit with them for 8-10 hours at a time and it was insanely boring. Crochet kept me from losing my marbles.

CJ- funny you mention it, I have a pick up this week, and did spend some time today getting a few more items out. Perhaps a break from crafting will be good for you. I hope that your time decluttering is productive and you get a lot done.

Hello Ginny - I can imagine working with those t-shirts is tedious. I've always avoided anything that needed stabilization done, I'm too lazy Hope things get better. I worked with a lady who crocheted and I remember being so shocked when she came into a staff meeting and sat there and crocheted. I loved seeing what she was working on, but I thought it was very unprofessional. Ruth - I saw this pretty crocheted blanket on a website I check for quilting blocks, she gives a link to the free pattern too. I thought you might be interested: smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/pippinpoppycock.com/2021/02/09/a-warm-embrace-new-crochet-pattern/I'm still working on going through some things in the house, so no crafting for me. Hope you were able to do some crafting. We had some rain overnight but it ended up being sunny by this afternoon. Take care

CJ- that warm embrace pattern for crochet sure is pretty (but more complicated than I would want to work on at this time). I marvel at someone who can take on a project like that where the directions are different for every row. Thanks for posting it, it’s sure pretty to look at!!! I totally agree, crocheting in a business meeting is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Hope that you are making good progress on going through what you want to in the house and getting ready for your donation pick up. I am not as inspired at getting ready for my pick up as I would like to be, but I do have some items to put out and will be happy to see them leave.
Regarding crocheting in the presence of my inlaws- very very frequently the conversation reverted back to old times on the farm and they were very intentional at making it a closed conversation. So I crocheted and did chat when I could.
My crafting for today was….drum roll….. I placed another order at Joanns. I ran out of interfacing, so I used a gift card my Ds had given me last year and bought interfacing, thread and batting, all of which will be needed in the immediate future. I had to spent 80 cents for all that I ordered because of the gift card. The original plan was to drive to Joanns tomorrow, but with the cost of gas, I calculated it out and its cheaper for me to spend $4 for shipping and handling than it is to drive to Joanns. I can trim down t shirts in the interim. Yes, CJ, it’s a pain ironing tshirts and the next step is trimming them to a universal size, but it’s starting to make sense. I admit being a bit overwhelmed by the project but after watching videos a bunch of times and actually getting started it’s not as bad as I thought it will be.
Ruth, hope you had a good day and got some crocheting in.

Oh, we sure could use some rain….and some nasty news…Ds had a deer run into his pretty new car this am, and it damaged the door (which still works but is very dented). I feel bad for him…the car does not have many miles on it at all. But thankfully he is ok.

Good morning!! Hoping to have a quiet day…and get some crafting time in. It’s supposed to be hot today so I will probably have to start up the air conditioner. BBL

Hello - Hope you are doing well today and having nice weather. It's a sunny day here, temps in the 70s - nice Ginny - I'm sorry your DS had the deer damage his car. I'm glad he is safe and hope he can get everything fixed. I've had damages to a new car, it's a bummer since the car stops feeling new then. Hope you get to do your crafting. Ruth - Hope you are getting some crocheting done. I worked on some more decluttering this morning and I may try to go in my sewing room this afternoon and organize the binding and backing fabrics I have for quilt tops that are already done. I didn't realize I had very many, but when I went in that tote there are bunches of them! I want to make a list so I know which tops are reading to be quilted (even though I probably won't quilt them). At least if the tops are donated I can add the binding fabric with the quilt top. Who knows maybe I'll be motivated to quilt some of them (probably not ). I wish my heavy duty machine had the wave stitch on it, because I really like that and I would try to quilt some tops. But it only does the straight stitch. Have a good day

CJ, my sister knows of an organization that finishes projects (which I assume are donated) when the original crafter has passed and not completed a project. I wonder if that organization would also find “homes” for those quilt tops that you have no plans to finish- and would then find a home where they would be appreciated. Next question…would you consider buying another machine that does the wave stitch so that you could finish the quilt tops yourself? I know, I am asking a lot of questions. I think for each quilter there is a favorite part of the process- for some its the design and fabric selection, others its cutting, others its piecing…or even quilting. ( I know of no one who likes putting a binding on! ha ha ha). I do know of a woman who has eventually learned to love the quilting process.
Ruth, hope you are having a good day and get some crocheting time in!
Got my donations all put together and ready to go out tomorrow morning. I did babysit today and had a decent day with the little ones. DGS#2 is working on being potty trained, and while he did have one slight mishap is coming along. DGD#2 is learning how to read, and it took a LONG time but we did make it through an easy reader. Who would have thought I would be going through this with another generation?Oh, it’s all good and fun and I am blessed that I can help out.
Ds is ok and seems to be wrapping his head around what has happened. I gave him a big hug this am, and keep reminding him that I am SO GLAD he is ok. It could have been so much worse.
Going up close to 90 tomorrow and also on Friday. I am babysitting DGS at my house for a short while tomorrow, while DD has a doctor appt. With 90 degree weather, I can assure you the air conditioning will be on.
Think I am going to start trimming those t shirts that I am able to work on.

Ginny - I have two machines that do the wave stitch, they just aren't heavy duty like the straight stitch one is. Also, these are lower end Brother machines that you don't even oil so I'm not sure how many larger quilts I could finish on these. But maybe I'm just making excuses for not quilting them Pat Sloan has a list of lots of organizations on her website that take quilt tops to finish. When I get around to organizing my tops I'm going to print out that list and keep it with them so that anyone who ends up with the quilt tops can donate them if they want. I'm glad your son is doing alright, I'm sure that was really scary. Hope your house will be cool and that you enjoy babysitting your DGS tomorrow I didn't get back up to my sewing room today, I might try to do some organizing in there tomorrow.

Back in the saddle Again...remember that song although neither of you is probably old enough. Well for awhile I was wondering just how we were going to get home from the airport. The pilot in Denver was late getting there. Then we had to wait while he did his checks and his walk thru the isle before we could board. Then he took FOREVER to actually take off. Luckily we got here just in time. We waited about 5 minutes for our taxi. I thought for sure we were going to miss it as I had scheduled it to arrive at 9pm which was 45 minutes after the original landing time.
I did crochet at the second airport. I was so exhausted that I actually went to bed early. Today I'm waiting for the person from the water company to come and turn the water back on. We had them shut it off before we left to avoid any mishaps.
Ginny, I agree with you on that....90degrees is just too hot. Turn on that a/c
CJ, I'm going to be doing a lot of decluttering also. I do have yarn that I plan to donate. It's mostly the thread type yarn. I can't see well enough to use that anymore. There is probably some other yarn too that I will donate. I did donate a lot of mine back when I used to go to Caps for Kids meetings
See you all later
