Ruth, praying that Dh’s injection goes easily and as comfortably as possible.

thank you, Ginny. I always thought that when they injected a steroid that it was like a spinal tap. How they did dh's is by injected one dose of the steroid from each side.I thought it would be a more sterile procedure too but they had him keep on all his clothing and just lifted the shirt up a little and the doctors wore their own clothing too. I'm guessing the doctors used gloves but I wasn't in the room. They used fluoroscopy to see where to inject. It's never done as an inpatient so that's why I've never seen it done.
afterward dh still wanted to stop at Walmart to use up the rest of the credit on his advantage plan card because it expires Friday so we did that and am now home.
I almost finished the sweater last evening but all I had left was part of the ribbing on one small sleeve so instead I started one of the blankets for dgs' and worked on that while waiting for dh's injection to be done. I probably will finish the sweater this evening.
See you all later.

Ruth, well it sounds like Dh fared reasonably well if he wanted to go to Walmart afterward.I am hoping it was not too painful.
Got to church this am to assemble the quilt sandwich for the tshirt quilt. As its a large quilt, it was much easier putting 3 large tables together and laying the backing/batting and quilt top on there. It’s all ready for the machine now.
CJ- hope your day went well

Good Morning!!
Looks like CJ did not check in yesterday….just hope she is doing ok and just busy.
Ruth, were you able to complete the sweater last night?
Got a crazy day here…at some point I am taking DGD to the quilt shop to select her fabric.

Yes CJ hasn't come in today yet either. Maybe yesterday she was busy quilting and decluttering and today out to buy groceries. I hope that's the case anyway.
Ginny, is school out for the summer in your area yet? You definitely have a lot to keep you busy during the summer and the rest of the year. I'm glad you're able to borrow the tables at church to spread out your quilts to to the sandwiching.
I finished the sweater this morning instead of last evening but I do still need to sew on the buttons. I started a pair of booties but the sole came out too large so set that aside for later. It's not easy doing a bootie sole so I hope they actually get used.I haven't worked on the blanket yet today but probably will this evening.

Hello Ginny - That's great that you can sandwich those large quilts at your church. When I first started quilting I used to take my pieces to work to use the large conference room tables. I hope you were able to take your DGD to the quilt shop, I'm excited to hear what fabrics she picked and how things go with making her quilt Ruth - I'm glad to hear your DH's procedure went well and I hope it helps him. I bet that sweater is so cute and the booties will be too. I love things like that. I did go out yesterday for errands and was working on decluttering too. I did some more decluttering work this afternoon. This morning the layout for the Haunted Halloween quilt came out and I was able to get my top finished. I decided to put two small inner borders and a larger outer border on mine instead of just the one border like the pattern called for. I have enough fabric for the backing and binding, so who knows I may actually get this one quilted If you have time you can watch this video to see the layout for the quilt and also some of the quilt blocks for participants: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUcIlSDB0DwI might buy that Crabby pattern and make a few crab blocks. I still need to get those Rainbow Scrap Challenge fabrics starched and pressed, hopefully this week. Tomorrow is the next block for Pat Sloan's weekly quilt along so I hope to get those done too. Take care

CJ- glad you got here, and it sure sounds like you have been busy. I did check out the video (did not go too far into it but early on she shows the crab block and the haunted Halloween quilt. Knowing that you already like working on nautical themed/shore themed fabrics and quilts, well I can reallly see the crab themed block being something you would enjoy. I hope that you do buy the crabby pattern. You will get the fabrics starched and pressed for the RSC when you get a chance to. I know it’s hard to keep up with everything when still decluttering and running normal errands. It’s nice to be able to dedicate a larger block of time for quilting instead of smaller blocks of time. And the Haunted Halloween quilt is cute, think it’s a great idea to get it quilted!!
Ruth, I am so happy that you finished the sweater- adding buttons should not take too much time. You are totally right, a bootie sole is not the easiest thing to crochet and I know these are adorable. Think for winter, booties are perfect and a nice way to keep a little ones feet toasty. How is Dh feeling today?
I worked this am for a few hours (teaching a mandatory class to new monitors) and then I took DGD to the quilt shop. I will attach a picture of her fabrics tomorrow. I cannot say I love all her fabrics but they made her smile and she LOVES her fabric. That surely is the most important thing!!! I have to wash and press the fabric before class. I figure tomorrow I will get back to work on the tshirt quilt.

Cj, It's really good to see you here. I went to the video too but I didn't actually watch the whole thing either. I agree with Ginny that the crabby quilt really goes along with your interests and it's a nice block also. The Halloween one is interesting. How's the decluttering going. I haven't decluttered anything in a couple days but I have a lot of ideas on things to get rid of one way or another.
Ginny, you're sure right about what you said...as long as dgd loves her fabric that's all that counts.I think that's important for any quilt or any other handmade item. Yes if you're going to enter them in some type of competition they have to meet certain requirements but that takes away the fun esp for children. When do you go to the class? I don't remember how old your dgd is but I know that my dgd at 10 was very proud of her crochet items and had a great deal of fun making them and I sure didn't mention the imperfections in her completed projects. No one else did either so she was able to really enjoy what she made. I know your dgd is going to love making that quilt with you.
Ok, I confess, I set the blanket I just started for my soon to be 18 year old dgs because I think he would enjoy a waffle stitch one more. I started one of those. The booties I started call for the same ribbing as on the sweater and I wasn't feeling ribbing today so went to that blanket instead. I'll work on booties tomorrow
Oh, and Ginny, thanks for asking. Dh seems to be noticing his other pain now that he's had the injection for the back problems. He really needs to have a hip injection but they do it via the groin and he wasn't happy to hear that so I doubt he will do it even for relief of his considerable pain.

Ruth, guess it’s good news that Dh is improving in his back pain. How long is the treatment that Dh supposed to last? I am sure that your DGS would love any afghan that you make for him. The waffle stitch does work up beautifully and I figure this afghan will be made in his favorite colors. And because his grandma made it for him he will love the afghan even more. My DGD just turned 10. The class is 4 days toward the end of July. And yes, I pretty much stayed out of the fabric selection process, guess you could say I was more of an enabler and assistant than anything else. Once I saw what her taste seemed to be for the main fabric, I just took her throughout the store and let her seek fabrics that she liked. I only interceded when she picked a fabric that was not a good match or if she found a fabric that was a better match. Even the shop owner saw that DGD had a strong gut feeling for what she wanted and affirmed that DGD has to like her fabrics which I think she does (a lot!)
A bit rainy here…I was supposed to go into work for a short while this am, but they closed the facility for today because of a problem. So I guess I will enjoy a quiet day and get to playing with some fabric, working on the tshirt quilt.

These are DGDs fabrics. The blue on the left is her fabric for the back of the quilt. Next is a wave fabric, which contains all the other colors she is using. The other 3 fabrics will be the stripes for the split rail. She did select those fabrics because they remind her of our family week at the beach.

Your granddaughter has excellent taste!! She picked out some really, really nice fabric and it sure does remind one of the beach! The quilt she's going to make is going to be beautiful.

Hello Ruth - I'm glad your DH has some relief from his back pain, but sorry he's feeling other pain now Ginny - Your DGD did a great job picking her fabrics, they are going to make a pretty quilt It was warm here today and this afternoon got a bit hazy from the fire smoke from Canada. This morning I finished the next two blocks for the Pat Sloan quilt along and did find time to press all the fabrics for the Rainbow Scrap blocks. This afternoon I was working on more decluttering - I'm working on paper decluttering right now and still have more to go. Hope you both get to do some crafting and that you are having nice weather. Take care

It rained here on and off today and the canadian smoke is returning…can feel and smell the haze.
CJ- sorry you too have the fire smoke, and I hope it passes quickly for both of us. Good progress with both your quilting and decluttering.
Ruth- how was your day and how is Dh feeling?
Got no crafting done today, but I too did some decluttering and ran one errand. Most likely I will get some machine time in as my air quality is supposed to be poor tomorrow, so staying inside will be best.

Off to the sewing room, to try to get some quilting done on the tshirt quilt. I did wash DGD’s fabrics too, which look so pretty on my ironing station.
Ruth and CJ- hope you both have a great day
