Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Hope you slept well last night!
I got the fabric pressed for Dgd’s quilt ( the one DGD#1 is going to make at class). I was pleased at how my sewing room functions- just by moving the table a few feet. Glad that is done, as pressing is not my favorite thing to do.

Ginny, I'm glad you got the fabric pressed and it's ready to be worked with.
Another hot day here but I cooked a few things and have a carrot cake in the oven. Gotta start celebrating dh's birthday early (It's not until aug 13th)
Last evening I decided to start another blanket instead of doing the sweater but after I got a few rows done I realized the yarn is coming out to be harsh and scratchy. I hope it will be soft after washing and drying. It's RHSS ombre in that Scuba color. I've used other colors of this ombre and they weren't like this. So, anyway, I made a little swatch and will toss it in the washing machine when I do a load of laundry which will be this evening, and see how it turns out. Last year I made dgd a blanket with rhss not ombre and washed and dried it and it turned out very, very soft so we'll see. Now I'm trying to decide on colors for a different blanket. It only uses two colors so you would think that would be easy. Gotta go in the craft room and see what will look nice together.
I hope you both are having a good day and I'll bbl

Hello Hope you are doing well today and staying cool. It's hot here and supposed to get hotter this week. This morning I finished making the last 4 Ohio Star quilt blocks for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt. I had thought I had a nice border fabric to use with them but when I laid it out next to them, it doesn't work. So I'll have to check and see if I can find something else to use. I still have 6 blocks to make for the other Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt I'm making this year, so I should be done with those soon. Hope you both get to do some crafting today and that you have a good evening

I didn't realize you were doing two rainbow challenge quilts. They do sound pretty.

Good morning!
CJ- were you able to find a fabric for the Ohio star quilt?
Ruth, did the sample swatch you made soften in the laundry? Just so frustrating that all colors of a yarn do not have the same level of touch- they are not all equally soft. Bless you for making a carrot cake in this heat…..but we know your Dh loves it.
I had practice at church last night, and then an awful time falling asleep. I did pack up supplies for DGD’s quilt class, which i hope she enjoys. Stay cool!

Gee, quiet here today…..
busy day for me, getting DGD to and from her quilting class. She seems to be enjoying class, is learning a lot (Patience among the skills being learned) and I think is excited that her quilt will be done in a few days.

Hello - Hope you are doing well and the weather isn't too bad. It is getting hotter and more humid here. Ginny - I'm glad your DGD is enjoying the class and it is exciting that her quilt will get done in a few days Ruth - I try to make at least two Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts each year. This year I'm using my fat quarters since I used a lot of scraps the last few years. I went out to do some shopping today so I haven't done any quilting. Yesterday I finished the hand quilted piece and trimmed it so it's ready for binding. The next clue in the Evergreen mystery quilt along came out today, so I need to get that made too. Hope you get to do some crafting. Take care

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today and the weather is alright. It's hot here, but not too humid. I bought a new weather station yesterday and put out the sensor today, so it will be nice to see the outside temperature again (my old station died). This morning I finished the next row for the Evergreen Christmas mystery quilt along. This week is ornaments for the tree. This is a really cute pattern and not difficult. If I had the energy I'd make a second one of these using different fabrics. I have the patterns, so maybe I could make it later on. I also made the binding for the two hand quilted pieces I finished. I hope to attach the binding to both of those tomorrow. That will finish my two oldest hand quilted pieces - yeah! Hope you get to do some crafting today too Take care.

Ruth, hope you are happily crocheting and staying cool. It does look as though the 3 of us are in for some hot weather for a few days, perhaps longer. Please stay hydrated….
CJ- like you, the temps are warm but the humidity is not horrible. That is awesome that you finished the next row for the Evergreen Christmas mystery quilt. Think that is a great idea to make a second one, if you have the fabrics or find some fabrics that call your name. That is really wonderful that you have made the bindings for the two hand quilted pieces! What a great feeling of accomplishment for you. Got into a conversation with the quilt shop owner today, during which I said that I try not to quilt at night (too tired and make mistakes) but we agreed that hand finishing a binding is a wonderful evening project while watching television. Glad you replaced your weather station. I remember about a year ago the old one was giving you a headache and they sure are nice to have to quickly keep track of the weather. I hope the sensor was not a lot of work to install and in an easy location for you to put up.
Well , my quilting for today might have been helping DGD work on her quilt. It’s coming along well, she has 3 rows out of 8 completely sewn. Tomorrow I hope we can get the other 5 rows sewn and the quilt top together leaving the final assembly of the quilt (using the quick turn method) for Friday. While her fabrics are not my choice, she selected fabrics that really move- and it looks like waves in the ocean. I think she really likes quilting and wants to make another quilt! Two more days of class. Tomorrow I will take another picture of the quilt top that does not have her in it….and post it so you can see. Think we are having a lot of fun together.
Dunno, I might try to make the quilt sandwich for the 3 yard quilt I made a few months ago. That would be kind of easy for me to do and I would not mess it up working late in the day. The fabric for the baby quilt is supposed to be delivered to my house tomorrow, so Friday I can purchase (at the quilt shop) the background fabric I select.
Will check back in later to see how Ruth is.

Yes it's quite hot here and will be until next Wed when the claim high will be only 82
CJ, I'm glad you were about to get the row of the Christmas quilt done. It must be a great feeling to have those hand quilted quilts done also. We bought a weather station once but it didn't work right so we returned it and haven't bought another. We have several indoor/outdoor thermometers.
Ginny, I had a feeling that once your dgd saw that she could successfully make a quilt that she would want to make more. What a great thing to do with your dgd.
I sure dislike people springing things on me at the last minute. Today my oldest grandson who is our oldest grandchild messaged that he's here in town and would like to visit so we all talked and instead of him coming here we'll go to my dd's house were he's staying and see them all. they have a/c. He lives in Montana but is considering moving back here because his 6 year old son lives here.
So last evening and today I worked on the baby sweater. I actually thought I had the yoke already made but it had only 3 rows so I had to finish that part first. I have a feeling that there will be more great grandbabies arriving because the dgs I mentioned is planning on marrying and his sister is the one that just got married. I do have a new great grandaughter because dgd married a man that has a 7 year old daughter who lives with them...I don't know what happened to her mother

Ruth, sorry I just did not check back in last night. Gee, your family is growing - or has the potential to grow if all those who are getting married or are newlywed have little ones. Sounds like you will be busy keeping these babies in afghans or sweaters or hats. I am glad you and Dh are heading to DD’s house. I know DD was not feeling well (hope she is doing better!) and this also gives you an opportunity to check up on her. Ok (forgive me for nagging) you can also spend some time in the AC. Gosh we are all in for some very warm temps.
Gonna skip my long walk this am, it’s just warm and miserable out there already. Another day of quilting camp with DGD.
CJ and Ruth, Stay comfortable….make sure you are hydrated.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today and staying cool. It's in the high 90s and sunny here, but the humidity isn't too hot - still really hot though! Ruth - I don't like things sprung on me either. I tell anyone wanting to come to my house they need to give me at least one day's notice I'm glad you'll get to go see your DGS and be in the AC. Ginny - Hope the quilting camp went well, sounds like your DGD is enjoying it Although I don't care for what WW has become over the last 10 years or so, I do credit them with one of the best habits I have and that is drinking 8-10 cups of water each day. I think that has been really helpful to me since I've done that for so many years. Whenever I broke that habit I spent all day drinking diet coke - it was bad I recently stopped drinking sodas altogether. I finished the binding on the two hand quilted pieces today and was glad to get them done. I did see on the oldest one (from the late 1990s) that some of the seams are pulling apart in one of the sashing strips. I might put this back in the machine and just do a decorative stitch over top the whole seam to keep it from pulling apart anymore. I also found a fabric that will work really well for my Ohio Star blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, so I just need to figure out the layout of the 16 blocks and sew them together and put on two borders (the inner border will be the white fabric I used in each block). Tomorrow I hope to get the rest of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks done for the second quilt. I'm making and X and O quilt. I'd like to get both of these Rainbow Scrap Challenge tops done by the end of the month, before all the new blocks for next month come out. Hopefully I can get them done. Hope you get to do some crafting too. Take care

CJ- I sort of agree with you about WW, they say it’s easier to follow and I find it more difficult anyway, glad you are staying hydrated. So very important during these warm days. Glad you will be able to repair the older quilt on your machine and cover it up with a decorative stitch. Sounds like an awesome idea to me!! Yay, I am happy for you that you found a fabric which will work out well for the Ohio start blocks.
These quilt days are long for ,e, and I am glad that tomorrow is the last day. DGD finished her quilt top today and its onto final assembly tomorrow. She is so pleased with her quilt. Will post a picture tomorrow.
Ruth, hope you had a good day.

I guess I'm late to the party. Had kind of a long day.
CJ, I'm glad you found the fabric you needed in your stash. When we have large stashes we dislike having to buy more because we don't have the right one.Still we love fabric and yarn shopping so I know we all do it on occaision. And it's great that you will be able to not only stabilize that seam but also make it decorative.
Ginny, that's a fast quilt the little girls are making. Your dgd will probably show hers to all her friends. Next dgd#2 will be wanting to make one.
We did go to dd's house and visited with our oldest grandson, oldest great grandson, dgs' fiancee and of course out dd and her husband and their youngest child who is also a dgs who just turned 18 and talked me into letting him borrow our little truck for two weeks. Our oldest dggs is a couple months short of turning 7 and he's just so cute. He's the spitting image of his daddy.
Came home and discussed the septic tank which we never did get a firm answer last year on whether or not it was functioning properly. We haven't had a problem with it but dh is concerned so I'm going to call someone to come and take a look at it next week just to ease his mind because I don't think there's anything wrong with it. We haven't had any issues but dh thinks it's too full or something.
Then I started working on the sweater again. I had a hard time with it last evening and ended up doing the yoke over. I was so frustrated with it that I was tempted to give up crocheting. I've had too many problems with things lately...the blankets mostly.
Well now that I've whined I'll say that I hope you both have a great night.
