Sometimes I look at a fabric and wonder why I have it, what was I thinking when I bought it. Guess that is how you feel about that yarn, Ruth! Did you finish using that yarn? It sure is difficult working with a small gauge yarn, for that matter working with a super large gauge yarn is challenging too.
Wish I was able to sleep a bit later, but I am working shortly. This week is a bit crazy- just a lot going on. I came up with a list of what I want to accomplish in the next 3-4 weeks; all chores around the house. As the summer was so strange and hot, I did little outside, and do want to clean up a few areas that I have not gotten to yet.
Strange weather morning- it’s raining on and off. The air has a real tropical feel, so my windows are closed and my AC is on when the thermostat says it’s getting too warm.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well and the weather is nice. We're expecting storms coming through here soon, hopefully I'll miss the severe ones. I finished the quilt top I was working on with the fabric from 2004. It turned out pretty nice would make a good baby quilt since it's pastels and measures 41x41. I wasn't planning to quilt it right away but I looked at it and I could see how I could use the wavy stitch to quilt it, so maybe I will get it sandwiched sometime this month. A lot of the monthly blocks are coming out this week, so I'll be busy working on those and of course I'm always wanting to start another quilt Hope you get to do some crafting today too. Take care

CJ, that is great that you were able to finish the 2004 quilt top- and I am glad that you are pleased with how it turned out! Sounds like a great idea to use the wavy stitch to quilt it. I am just curious, can you adjust the modulation of the stitch- how far apart the repeat is and the height of the wave? gee, bet it is such a pretty quilt and shows off your piecing skills. I hope that you do quilt it. Hope that you can keep up with all the monthly blocks you are working on- and yes, knowing you, you are more than ready to start another quilt!
Ruth, hope that you have had a great day and finished another bandana.
Considering that I slept poorly, l ended up taking a brief nap. Still feel a bit draggy but the humidity is high outside and its just not comfortable. I went for a short walk and was very very happy to get back inside. Wish I did not have to go out again this evening. I did awaken when Ds came home at midnight last nite and took a shower.

Good afternoon all and happy new week. It's a usual type of day for the strange weather we've been having this year with rain, thunderstorms, and hail off and on with bright sunny skies in between. I can't believe all the rain we've had this year. Ginny, I'm sorry you didn't sleep well yet again. I, too, wish you didn't have to go out and were able to stay home and relax. It sounds like your whole week will be a busy one.I know you dislike hot and humid weather so hopefully it will cool down there. CJ, I'm glad your quilt using the fabric from 2004 turned out so well and that you're happy with it. Yes definitely quilt it. Will you be gifting that to someone in your family who has a baby or donating it to some lucky organization or just keeping it to look at to enjoy your skills at quilting? It sounds like a busy week for you too with all the quilt blocks coming out. Well i thought that after struggling thru the first row of this bandana with tiny yarn and hook that it would be easy. Well I found that many people mentioned to the designer that they didn't understand her pattern at all and I definitely fit into that group. She did go ahead and make a video and good thing she did. I would never have been able to do this pattern if only the written one was available. For this bandana I used Herrschner's Sugar and Spice yarn which is a #2 like the sock yarn but this #2 is a little thicker, not much though. And I think it's been discontinues which is a shame because I absolutely LOVE this yarn. It works up so pretty. It works from the top down so, although I have a lot of rows to go, they are getting shorter and shorter. So this is only my 3rd one. Because of the way it's made and my struggle to watch both the video and written pattern it has been time consuming so I'm not sure I'll finish the sock yarn one even though I have that awful first row done. Ginny, good job in making the list of tasks you want to complete in the next few months. I made a list for just this week and probably won't even get that all done.

Sometimes I post twice in a day- and today will not be one of those days. I am babysitting for some grandkids later on.
Ruth, once again you have persevered through some less than perfect instructions. Wonder if the designer came up with a video before all the questions and comments that her instructions were less than easy to comprehend? Well, glad she did make the video so that between the video and the written instructions you were able to make some sense of it all. Besides the chance to make a greater profit, I wonder why yarn manufacturers make different yarns and change their inventory of yarns available to frequently. Of course it is a marketing ploy, but for the crafter it is a nightmare.
CJ- as I am somewhat humid and warm here (or at least my weather forecast is). Hope that you are staying comfortable today. When do your new block patterns come out? Do you have a favorite designer (gonna suspect its Pat Sloan)?
got my walk in bright and early and might end up taking the kids for a walk. We shall see. I ordered some additional rulers for cutting the quilt, and am still matching fabrics to make the flowers. (It takes 4 different fabrics to make a flower). Perhaps DGD#1 can assist me with fabric selection. She might enjoy that. Slept better last night, just wish I slept more. Hope I can check in later, but it is not likely

I think it got into the 70's today and we had more rain. It's quite cool in the house and I was tempted to put on a sweater.
No I didn't persevere on that bandana. After watching a little more of her video which she said she made because so many people told her they didn't understand the pattern, I found that not only does she not know how to write a pattern but she also doesn't know how to make a video. For one thing she had the camera adjusted so that the stitching was so far away that you could barely see what she was doing and also she apparently didn't know how to figure out how many stitches she should make to do a smaller sample and still have enough to show how to do the stitches when you got further along. Just when she got to the part we really needed to see she ran out of stitches and told us to look at the pattern for the rest. So I ripped it all out and started and finished a different one with that yarn and have finished that one and two others.
Ginny, I know your dgd will love that you ask her to help pick out colors for the baby quilt.
Yes noisey neighbors are a real trial. Luckily our lots here are big enough that if the neighbors did party it wouldn't be heard in our house. But all of our neighbors are older people and never party.I'm very thankful for that.
My dd had major surgery today and came through fine. She had the surgery out of town and has to spend at least two nights(depends on whether or not she's able to P tomorrow) there then gets to come home. Her two youngest daughters took her there (350 miles away) and, of course stayed to help her and bring her home. It amazes me the short period of time people stay in the hospital these days. When I was working a patient would have to remain in the hospital for at least four full days after this type of surgery. My ddil has to stay at the birthing center only 4 hours after the baby is born. When I had my first child (daughter who just had surgery) I had to stay in the hospital for 4 days and it was just a normal birth.

Ruth, what are you hearing about your DD? I pray that she is doing fine and that her recovery is quick. Good news that the procedure went well, and I pray for her full and rapid recovery. Besides the fact that the insurance companies are dictating medical stays and visits, I do think that they are also trying to keep patients from staying in the hospital too long to limit risk of infection from communicable disease. My sister and brother in law both had procedures in the past year or so, and seemed to be rushed out of the hospital. Both had to go back into the hospital a few days after initial release for additional care. I pray that this is not the case with your DD. Wow, Sounds like that is a good pattern to abandon, if the designer has no talent to communicate her bandana. It’s a testimony to you that you have been able to now complete two- actually three bandanas in another pattern.
At some point I am heading to see the pretty quilts at the fair. CJ- hope you are having a great day

DD is doing pretty well considering all the work they did. Her hematocrit and hemoglobin are quite low now. Some is due to blood loss but I'd say that some is due to hemodiution due to the IV fluids they gave her. Yes getting out of hospitals is a good thing due to all the antibiotic resistant infections. My neighbor only had a port placed for his chemo and got MRSA.
Last evening I saw two more bandana patterns that I want to make so I'll do that today. Tomorrow is dh's dr app't then we'll shop afterward so that's kind of a lost day. This week is speeding by way too fast.We also have to stop at a grocery store to pick up dh's can that he keeps leaving on shopping carts.

Hello Hope you are both doing well and the weather is nice where you are. It's sunny here and in the 80s, and the humidity is lower. Ruth - I'm glad to hear your DD's surgery went well and wish her a full recovery. I'm glad her daughters can be there to help her. Hope the new bandana pattern works well for you Ginny - Hope you are sleeping better and that you enjoying seeing quilts at the fair. I'd like to hear about them. I hope your DGD can help you pick some fabrics The quilt block patterns that come out this week are from "A Quilting Life", "Sew With Me" and "The Quilted Forest". They all do a nice video showing instruction of the block, as well as giving instructions. I finished the one from A Quilting Life yesterday and then today I changed pieces of an earlier block I made for this quilt along, because I didn't like the way it looked. I'm much happier with the change. That's the problem with these mystery quilt alongs, your earlier blocks sometimes don't look good with later ones. The patterns for the other two quilt alongs came out today, so I hope to work on them in the next few days. For myself Pat Sloan has the easiest patterns for her weekly quilt alongs. The patterns from A Quilting Life and the Moda Blockheads are also easy to use, as are the ones from the Coriander Quilts quilt along. I've struggled a bit more with the Sew With Me patterns. But I've enjoyed learning a few new piecing techniques making the basket blocks from The Quilted Forest quilt along. Take care!

Ruth, glad to hear that DD is doing well and it does seem as though they are considering the procedure a success. Prayers that her blood levels come back to acceptable levels quickly.
CJ- I rather suspected that you found Pat Sloan the easiest to work with, or you would not be making as many of her quilt blocks as you do. I did make that table runner using a quilting life’s directions and did not find them awful to work with either. Totally agree with you on the mystery quilt alongs, and I sincerely doubt I will take another mystery quilt along on. I hope that you can get what you wanted to accomplish to today and tomorrow, that being the other quilt along blocks.
it was great seeing the quilts with DGD, but this years quilts were not my favorites. Had a good time investigating and looking with her however.

Quiet here today!! Hope that everyone is doing fine and just busy.
I did some housework today and also some yard work. So. It was a productive day, but not one in which I did any crafting.I might get some crafting time in this evening, depends upon how I feel.
Tomorrow I do not have a car (it gets new tires tomorrow) and will be home for the day. I am looking forward to getting started on the quilt then. Will check back in later to see who checked in.

Hello Ginny - I hope everything goes well with getting your tires tomorrow and that you can start on your quilt Ruth - Hope you are doing well It was a bit cooler here today, but very humid with a brief shower this afternoon. I think the next few days will be hotter. This morning I cut all the fabrics for the three monthly quilt block patterns that came out yesterday. I finished making one of them and started on the other two and hope to finish them tomorrow. I have lots of ideas for other quilts and hope to make a few more smaller quilt tops this month. Take care
