CJ- sorry things are crazy at your house….and I do hope that everything is ok. Glad all the seams are ripped out…as frustrating as it must have been.
Ruth, so glad you only have one row to rip out!!!
Yup- I get to go for a colonoscopy in a few weeks…no surprise as it’s time for me to have another one. Got a genetic history of colon cancer, so it is important to take care of this.
Think I will go sew a bit before I head out to church.

That's another thing dh has to do is have a upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy. Supposedly he had a family history of colon cancer but we found out that was not true However he did have large polyps in his other colonoscopy and also a condition called Barrett's esophagus and was supposed to have the upper endo every couple years but it's been probably 10 years now. I'll be praying for you to have really good results from your's Ginny.
I did a lot around the house today and sorted some things. I found that I already have 8 blankets made and only need 7 for Christmas gifts so I can take a break from afghans/blankets if I want to and I think I will in order to catch up on hats and also make a couple things I saw patterns for for the great grandchildren. There are also a lot of unfinished things I need to get to. This evening though I will still work on this latest afghan.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
CJ- you have been so busy with household affairs recently- I hope that you can find some time to play with fabric today.
Ruth-that is good to hear that you are caught up on your afghans and actually have one extra! Did you get any work on your latest afghan?
Actually got a few ditzy daisies done last night, and am approaching the end of having to make them. (I need 15). I struggled falling asleep last night- and did not sleep well. Thankfully I do not have a lot of cooking to do today- got most of that done yesterday.

Hello - Happy Thanksgiving to both of you. Hope you enjoy some time with family and some great food Ruth - I hope you do get less snow today than they predicted. That's great that you have enough blankets made for Christmas and now you can make some other items. Ginny - Those Thanksgiving items are so cute! I'm sure the grandkids love to get them from you It's a cold and windy day here, but sunny. I'm glad I don't need to go out. I've been a bit dramatic with talking about things going on at my home I've just had to move a lot around and while I'm doing that I'm trying to declutter and get things together for donation. I'm a creature of habit and I like my schedule as I had it so this is disruptive to me. Hopefully things will calm down in another month or so. I did spend some time sewing this morning and finished putting those strip sets back together (the ones I'd ripped apart) and then I sewed together the sets to make the blocks with four strip sets. Now I just need to sew those into 4 patch blocks and then get the quilt top together. Take care and have a great day!

Happy Thanksgiving, dear friends. It's going to be a quiet day here. We're not going anywhere nor is anyone coming here. It will be a day of rest and relaxation and crafting. It's a dreary looking day and I can see snow coming but none is falling yet.
CJ, I understand how you feel. I very much dislike my routine being interrupted.I guess all these other things need done but we don't have to like it. I'm glad you were able to get those seams done and to get blocks made
Ginny, have a good day with your family. Now you have an additional reason to be thankful, as do I, with our new grandaughters.
See you later

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today It was cloudy here around 50, so not too bad. Hope you both enjoyed Thanksgiving yesterday. I had a quiet day, but nice. I'd been trying to get a time to test my 4 or so DVD and/or VCR machines to see if any of them would work with one of my extra TVs and I found one DVD (only) that worked with the TV and one VCR (only ) that worked with the TV - and I did that yesterday. So now I can keep the DVDs and VHS tapes that I have which I wanted to watch again. I'll just have to set the machine up to the TV when I want to watch. And I can get rid of the two that don't work. One of the older VHS tape sets that I have is the "Anne of Green Gables" show that was on public television back in the 80s/90s. That was such a great version and it would be enjoyable to watch them again. I also have a few family movies on some VHS tapes so it will be nice to watch them. Yesterday I watched the original movie "Miracle on 34th Street" with Maureen O'Hara and enjoyed that. I always watched it when it used to come on TV after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, but it's been years since they showed it. I figure younger people would rather watch the dog show or not watch at all. I had to go out shopping today, something I would normally never too, but it wasn't that bad. I had to go in specialty stores, so not the busy ones like Walmart and Target, Costco and Best Buy. Take care

Hello CJ. Yes I try to never go out on black Friday but sometimes you just have to. I hope you found what you needed. We, also, have quite a few VCR's and dvd players. We did test a couple several months ago and most still work. The ones that play video tapes I think are combos of vcr and dvd but I'm not sure. We may have a couple that are just vcr's. I know we gave one to dd awhile ago. We do have a LOT of video tapes most of which I haven't watched and don't care to watch. Dh hasn't watched any in years either but is not willing yet to get rid of the strictly vcrs. He recently bought two dvd players at an excellent price and I use one of those to watch my Columbo collection while I'm crocheting. Our of all the dvd's we have, which is a lot, I don't watch any. They're all dh's also and he's watched a few recently.
Wonder where Ginny is. She is always so busy.
I haven't done any crocheting yet today but I have looked at patterns. I know CJ can relate to that. Last night I did make a hat and start another. I had a plan to make 3 but that didn't happen. I haven't worked on the blanket for 2 days so need to get back to that too. Even though I don't need it for a Christmas gift I'd like to get it finished
I'll bbl looking for Ginny

Ruth, we almost posted at the same time….I took an extra minute to respond to a text and it got me here a few minutes after you today. I do not blame you for wanting to get the afghan done, that way if you misplace the directions you do not have to try to figure out which pattern you used. Hope you get some crocheting in today….I hope that you and DH enjoyed your peaceful Thanksgiving.
CJ- it almost sounds as though you are having some work done at your home…of course the process of cleaning and downsizing is a good thing for us to do just to make things more managable. Like you, I dislike having my routine disrupted, so I completely understand your frustration over getting things sorted through and put aside for donation. Sorry you had to run some errands this morning, but thankfully the places you went to were not crazy with Black Friday shoppers.
I took my car into town to have the check engine light investigated. The light has not come back on and the computer showed no error codes, so I was very happy about that. My friends husband came over to have me order a few Christmas gifts for her- so everything will be a surprise. For some reason some of his internet searches end up on her phone….so we did all the searching and ordering on my IPad, so she will be surprised.
The kids (and the adults) ate almost that entire platter of Thanksgiving goodies. Think there were a few pieces of candy corn left and that was all. Pretty funny. I did order a pillow form and some fabric for the border of the baby quilt today and hope to work on some squares shortly.
Oh- yesterday I went to clean my propane stove, hoping that the problem I was experiencing would clear up. My son took it apart…sort of and the problem is gone. Its supposed to be chilly this weekend so I am looking forward to using it, especially Sunday

Ginny, sometimes the engine light is just because the gas cap jiggles a little loose so maybe it was that and it fixed itself. Anyway I'm glad there was nothing wrong. I had that happen once but it was an old vehicle. They couldn't find anything wrong and that's what they told me. The engine light kept coming on though so I don't know what the cause was to this day.
Well your family must have loved your creative decorative goodies. Your friend will for sure be surprised at her gifts from her hubby and will wonder how he ordered them without her knowing.
Anyway it's good to see you here and I hope you have a good and restful weekend.

My car actually does not have a gas cap (what a strange design, but that is the way it is) and I did wonder that. I know that the gas cap has to be on securely. When I took the car in the day after the light came on they did find a sensor out of tolerance…but turned it off. Guess I was concerned because I did have part of the exhaust system repaired 2 months ago. Anyway, I am so very very thankful that the scan came up clear.
I do have a funny check engine light story. Several years ago DD#1 borrowed the pickup truck we used to own. The check engine lite kept coming on and the darned thing was due for inspection. We kept hoping that somehow the problem would be an easy fix or resolve itself. Dd was getting ready to return the truck and when she went to start it noticed that mysteriously the lite was out! Quick thinking, she called our mechanic (she used him too) and told him that she was coming in with the truck immediately and that the light was no longer on. Our mechanic (what a great guy, who retired 2 years ago) told her to get the truck in his shop asap and not turn it off….of course that is exactly what she did and the truck passed inspection. By the way, the lite came back on a day or so later.😂
I have 7 more 2 1/2 inch squares to cut so I can finish the ditzy daisies. Would have done it last night but my feline sewing assistant came to help and it was getting late anyway. Once those are sewn and pressed I can start assembly.
CJ- one of my Dad’s favorite movies was Miracle on 34th St. Glad that they aired it and that you were able to enjoy it….and I have no interest in watching a dog show on television. Among my favorite Christmas movies are Holiday Inn and White Christmas- two older movies that I remember my mom would put on the TV when I was growing up.
Off to do something productive…ha ha ha Have a great day

Hello Ginny - I'm glad nothing was wrong with your car. And I hope the propane stove continues to work. It was great to watch my DVD of Miracle on 34th Street. I like to watch "The Bishop's Wife" with Cary Grant on Christmas Even. And I have some other British Christmas movies that I like to watch each Christmas too. Ruth - Hope you can find some time to spend on the hat and the blanket. Did you end up getting less snow than they predicted? I understand about having all those DVDs and VHS tapes and not watching them. I've narrowed mine down to just the ones I really want to keep and I hope now that I have two machines that work, I can watch them. I'm sorry to be so vague about what's going on at my house, but with a public forum like this I don't feel comfortable saying anything. Once everything is settled, I'll let you know I need to do some quilting this morning, just to take my mind off things. I was able to finish 8 of the Christmas blocks, and added to the one I already made I was able to put the 9 blocks together. I want to add an inner and outer border to this, but I need to make them first. After that I started sewing together my layout for the Christmas blocks I did for Pat Sloan's Autumn Wonder's quilt. I thought I had made the last block, but I didn't so I have that ready to make. But I was able to get 2 of the 3 rows sewn together and as soon as I get the block made I can finish the last row and sew the middle together. I already have the inner an outer border strips made for this quilt, so I hope I can get it together soon. Hope you have a wonderful day and get to do some crafting

CJ- sounds like you have had a productive day….and yes I think we all get it about keeping stuff out of the public realm. Just hope you are doing ok and not stressing out too much over what is going on in your life. Did you get some quilting done this morning? Sounds like you made decent progress on the Christmas blocks and the Autumn wonders quilt. It will be easy when you are able to put that last Autumn wonders block together since you have gotten the fabrics ready to work with. And, yes, hoping for your sake that it all goes together soon.
I did get a lot of housework done today, so at least for now, the house looks ok. Jane and I went to an antique quilt show- most of the quilts were made between 1840-1860. The theme of these quilts was that they were all blue or blue and white. easily half of the quilts had a pretty navy fabric with tiny white stars. Simply amazing what quilters from over 150 years ago did without rotary cutters and all the fancy tools that we have now.
Ruth, hope you had a good day and got some crochet time in.
Think I am going to cut the final 7 pieces needed to snowball the ditzy daisies….and get them made.

CJ, I sure can understand why you would't want to put very much info on a public message board. When you look at all the views our thread has you wonder just who those people are and why they're viewing. Plus I'm sure there are ways that unscrupulous people can view public message boards without it even showing up as a view. Just know that we are here for you and if you ever need to vent I think you have our email addresses and if you've lost mine I don't mind posting it on here because there are a lot of people that have that email address of mine because it was spread all over a few years back. I don't know why exactly because no one that I haven't given it to myself has emailed me and I don't open emails from any one I don't know. I'm glad you took the time to relax and do some quilting. I'm glad you were able to get the Christmas one put together.
Ginny, I know you'll be happy when you finish those last 7 blocks. Then you can start of the rest of the tasks involved in finishing a completed quilt. Are you going to quilt it yourself or send it to be quilted?
I did get some crocheting in and plan to do more before the night is over.
Oh and Ginny, something I read reminded me that I was going to ask if you thought a weighted blanket would work for you to help you get to sleep. I know a lot of people use them. I've never used an actual weighted blanket but I used to use 5 blankets which added weight and it did make me feel relaxed and cozy. Problem would be if it made you too warm.

Ruth, I doubt a weighted blanket would be comfortable for me but I know some are happy with them. I have a lot of planets on my bed and find myself putting them on and off during the night. With my achy hips , think the weighted blanket would aggravate the situation, but its a great idea. Thanks
CJ- I completely agree with Ruth on that we can stay in touch via email….and I do wonder about those who ghost their presence here a nod never show up. Honestly, the ONLY board I am interested in is visiting with you and Ruth. I do admit that on rare occasions I would check to make sure our Phyl was ok, as she was known for showing up here sporadically.
Sad to think that this will be Phyl’s family first Christmas without her.
So at 1 am I heard a LOUD bang- and lost power a few seconds later. Think that a transformer blew on the main road, and I did call the power outage into my utility. They sent a text indicating that the power should be back by 7 am, but as it was cold I spent the next 3 hours worrying that my house pipes might freeze and was it time to go put the propane stove on. (Which dies not require electricity.0). I am very thankful that the power was restored by 4 am, but did not sleep much until then. Yes I am tired, and it was a major repair on the main road which was closed for a few hours
My final daisies are pinned together, and just need a few minutes of machine time to get them done.
