Welcome to the 2024 A Lot to Lose Thread
This is a yearly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.

Happy New Year!Welcome to anyone reading or checking in. I'd love to hear from those who haven't posted for awhile, and I hope you are doing well. I'm hoping to continue my success from 2023 into 2024 and maybe for once I'll keep control of my eating habits not slide back to overeating and other bad habits. Wishing all of you the best year possible

Hi sunrose - I wish you continued success in 2024. Thanks so much for your support irisinnia - Thanks for liking my post, I'd love to hear how you are doing I'm happy to continue my tracking (on an Excel Spreadsheet) this year, it has worked really well for me. And I'm enjoying calorie counting too. I lost 45 pounds in 2023 and would like to lose 15-20 more to get back to where I was at the end of 2021. After I reach that goal I'll evaluate and see if I want to lose more or if I just want to learn how to maintain my weight without such a struggle, as it's always been for me. I'd sure love to reach a point where I don't lose, gain, lose, gain for the rest of my life. Hope anyone checking in is doing well

Just thought I'd check in and say that I hope everyone has been doing well so far this year. I've been staying on track pretty good, I think I had one high calorie day, but I feel like that balances out the others. I've even started to feel like I might be able to walk some again since my knees and legs have been feeling better. Now I just need to do it Wishing you all the best

Hope anyone checking in is doing well I'm hanging in there. I've really wanted to stress eat recently, with all the issues that come with moving. So far I've resisted doing it, but my daily calories have crept up a bit over the last few days. I'll take that over the bingeing I used to do. I told myself that I'd be happy with just staying the same weight for a few weeks, if that gets me through this time without stress eating.

Good morning
Cj59, wow I am so impressed with your weight loss in 2023!!! Congratulations for your continued success. I lost 8 pounds in 2023.
My birthday was 1/16. I turned 70 (ouch). So there was lots of celebrations. Now to get serious.

Hi sunrose - Happy Belated Birthday!!! Hope you enjoyed the celebrations. I think we have to treat ourselves sometimes. It's just that tricky balance between treating and then staying on track. I know you can do it Congratulations on your loss in 2023, any loss is good Thanks for your kind words and support of my weight loss. My body definitely feels better after this loss. Even if I can't lose anymore at least I have helped myself this way. But hopefully I can lose a bit more. I'm not even trying to get anywhere near what would be "goal weight" for me. I just want to be at a weight that I can maintain and not go back to overeating and regaining weight again. Hope I can do it. I found some real beginning walking videos on YouTube and I'm trying to do a few of them each day (or at least one a day), and hopefully I can build up my time to get back to a good walking routine. Hope anyone checking in is also doing well

Hi sunrose - I agree with you about building up to exercise, hope you can do that. I could kick myself for losing all the success I had with walking everyday for several years I haven't had the energy the last few days to do any walking videos since I've finally been unpacking the last of the boxes from my move. I'm also done with that now, so I'll have no excuse not to start walking. I've had a few high calorie days, but not too bad. I've been avoiding weighing myself, but I'm going to do that tomorrow morning and face whatever the number is. I won't let it derail me and I have to remember that the scale won't always go down.

I did weigh myself today and was not surprised to see I had gained a few pounds. It's really irritating that my body can gain so quickly since I didn't do any serious binge eating, just had more calories for several days. I figure after years of losing and regaining the same pounds, this is how things will be now and in the future. I'm going to try to stay on track the next few days and see if that weight comes off, hoping maybe it's mostly fluid Hope anyone checking in is doing well.

Hope anyone checking is doing well I've been staying on track and I'm very close to the goal I set for myself last year (about 9-10 months ago). That weight is nowhere near a normal weight, but I'm just happy if I can maintain this lower weight and not end up back where I was a few years ago. This time the weight loss has been much slower and maybe that will help me to keep it off. I do have to admit I'm scared of regaining. I know that I could easily just go back to my bad eating habits in a minute. I hope I can be stronger this time.

Good morning
Cj59, you are so mindful! I like your comment about losing slower might help you keep it off better. I’m still hanging in there. Up a few/down a few.
I brought my chair gym up from the basement and I’ve been doing some chair yoga. Also getting on my stationary bike. I bought some new walking shoes and plan on doing outside walking weather permitting.

Hi sunrose - Hope you are doing well too I'm glad you've been doing some exercise, that hopefully you enjoy. And I'm sure you enjoyed the dog play time I've been a bit off track for a few days since I've been feeling kind of depressed. Moving from my old house and changing my regular daily schedule has been more stressful than I think I realized and it's catching up with me. I do still try to make sure to eat some fruit, vegetable and dairy every day and I get in my 8 cups of water. But I've been eating some junk. Hopefully I'll get back on track soon. Wishing everyone the best
