This challenge was created fifteen years ago by a few Weight Watchers members. We are committed to making positive and permanent lifestyle changes. Success isnβt always measured at the scale. Each day, think about the positive actions that you made the day before and identify the challenges you are working on. Anyone with a positive commitment to the program can join. If you are the first one to post each week, please copy, paste and get us started. If you choose, pose the Question of the Day (QOTD) that solicits constructive ideas for following the plan.

Yes I did: stay OP, track it all, avoid the grocery store that has temptations, have a good day, see another drop on the scale
Yes I can: keep the OP streak going, make healthy choices, stay positive, check in with support groups
Went to see a friend that had surgery about a month ago. She called this morning to say it was good to see me and Rosalie and then asked me to interpret her medical reports...oh my. Anyway...did some research, told her what I had gleaned from the internet and the limited report she offered me, and then said bye. My husband is giving some cut firewood to a friend and is outside supervising now. I woke to sunshine and clear skies but rain clouds are moving in from over the sea. Last night I made a warmer nest to sleep in and was cozy and warm not wanting to get out of bed this morning when the sun came through the window. My husband says it is going to warm up soon...hope he is right. Lunch will probably be leftover mjudra and cabbage salad.
Scale is going down on the old points counting program - 163 this morning - now to keep the trend going
BOOKS: Started reading NEVER WHISTLE AT NIGHT which is an anthology of 26 stories written by indigenous people that are supposed to be scary. Not so much for me and did not resonate BUT did see that some Native Americans were drawn in and thought there was much in the stories that resonated with them and might provide good starting points for round table discussions. After that I thought about the Colin Conway book but opted to start one by Freya Barker instead. And, it is good an will be finished today and reviewe.
We are starting the second month of 2024 and the possibilities are endless...let's make February a wonderful month!

Yes I did track every BLT yesterday and was OP 100% Yes I can rinse and repeat today...and stay warm with the space heater on
Had leftovers for lunch, sent our blood pressure device to a friend with her driver so she can monitor her BP till Monday. The weather this morning was beautiful but...gone again now with the clouds...away went the sun.
BOOKS: Wrote two reviews and am waiting for the internet to allow me to post them. The Native American short stories was...different. I opted to read EDGE OF NOWHERE by Freya Barker, finished, and wrote the review for it. I enjoy her books and enjoyed that she had characters from this book/series end up staying with another group's series and wonder where that will lead. I started THE BURIED HOURS by R.S. Grant (also Rachel Grant) and think it is about human trafficking after starting then reading the end of the book...now to read the middle and write the review.
I can remember thinking, "Wish it was cooler" and knowing that when it was cold I would wish it was warmer...guess what...I was right!

Yes I did stay OP and track it all Yes I can do it again today.
Sun was shining then gone and clouds with rain appeared. It is dark and gloomy and cold inside and outside. I have two reviews to post if the internet allows me to and more books to read. No cooking today as there are plenty of leftovers. Sent the blood pressure device to a friend who needs to monitor her BP till Monday.

Good Morning!!!! Love, light, blessings, and good health!
Hi Cathy!! I am impressed about your scale going down, it is a new month and I will need to weigh in (WI) and am worried. I heard good things about "Never Whistle at Night," glad to hear your input. You are a good friend to us and to your friends that you are helping with medical issues.
I am OP and eating clean. As always, portion size can be an issue. I do get so hungry with all this exercise. Last night I made a huge pot of garbanzo beans with veggies - no doubt inspired by Cathy's delectable menus. I flavored it with chicken broth powder, garlic/onions, and garam marsala. Delicious!! After a short slow spell with my business - things are busy again. Yesterday: I did not manage to find time for my home abs, but short walk, shopping trip on lunch, cardio, weight class, and a swim. Today: some admin, home abs, cardio, trainer for my toughest weight workout of the week, and reward myself with a swim. I am donating blood later - inspired by each of your good works. I have a friend whose husband needs regular transfusions and that has kicked me into gear to be more regular with my blood donations because it means so much to her.
I have a lot of admin, tax prep stuff to do this time of year so I might be less than regular checking in.
Okay, must adult and get dressed ... one, two, three, adulting! love light blessings and good health, janet

π Happy Groundhog Day! Well, I didn't see the Punxatawney Phil this morning but I did see a chipmunk, who has emerged from a new tunnel that opens right at the edge of my "birdbath" pan. He did NOT see his shadow, so I guess it means an early Spring π.
Wow, just noticed I haven't been posting since last Friday, oops!
Yes I DID: --WI at WW studio on Tuesday, just before the end of the month...still "free" but just barely --buy mostly healthy foods at the grocery. Did have a slip-up in my "no added sugar" plan, bought a candy bar (PB cup hearts) but did not eat it....putting it in the freezer now.... --get outside for a neighborhood walk and **loved** the fresh air. Didn't realize how much I missed getting out for my walks. Indoor walks just are not equivalent.
Yes I CAN: --get back to more focused decluttering. I've been fluttering here, there, everywhere doing a little of this & a little of that but that makes it hard to see progress. I can make progress on this, for my peace of mind. YES I CAN. - ~

February 3
Late to the message boards today. Internet was iffy at best and just as I would get into something online it would disappear again. I keep telling myself I am lucky I have what I do have...it sometimes works and other times...not so much. That said...it has been worse AND I do have downloaded books to read, can write the reviews and post when I do have internet.
The space heater is on and it does make a difference. I don't think I have been in real clothes or been out since last Wednesday but I do manage to stay warm in what I'm wearing so won't fret it and just realize my real clothes will stay nice and newer-ish this way. I do sometimes wonder what having regulated heat would be like...
Yes I did stay on program and track it all today and yesterday Yes I can do the same again tomorrow
Scale this morning fluctuated between 163.2 and 162.4 but settled on the lower number so that was nice. I might need to get new batteries for the scale again?
BOOKS: Wrote the review for THE BURIED HOURS by R.S. Grant this morning. I read a novella length historical romance by tabetha waite that was an arranged marriage with a happy ending, and will try to finish THE PATH OF PROGRESS by Colin Conway tonight and post that review tonight or tomorrow. It is a police procedural that begins with robberies but I believe may have to do with political corruption, a homeless population in Spokane and people accusing them of robberies that are happening but probably it is not the homeless encampment but someone with an agenda and making money behind it. Will see if I am right or not. After that...will see what disappears next.
JANET: My friend that had surgery said this is not her first go-round with cancer but wanted feedback from me and I gave her mine then consulted with my sister who just dealt with a weird rare ovarian cancer that is encapsulated and if removed without breaking has great success rates of survival. Of course hers broke during removal so they had to do a lot of washing of her entire abdominal cavity and she continues to go in periodically for frequent checkups. So far she is doing well and is cancer-free (my sister) and she reiterated with the surgeon told my friend. Anyway, it is nice to have family in the medical field sometimes. As for the weight dropping...this program worked for me in 1998/9 and have a feeling it will work again now. I put the garbanzo beans in the fridge and now that the leftovers have been eaten I think I will make some "burgers" with the beans and grains and other things and freeze some for later.
CAROL: Sounds like you've had a good week of healthy eating and getting the exercise in!
Here's hoping we all have a good weekend!

Good Saturday noon, positive peeps π£π₯!
I had more to post yesterday but our WiFi and/or this site were being recalcitrant...I kept typing but nothing went into the thread π€ͺ
Cathy - I admire your positive attitude. I've had a time, long ago, that made me really appreciate central heating. My roommate left town mid winter for a job offer out of state. I couldn't afford the rent and utilities on my own so while I searched for a cheaper apartment, I had to turn the thermostat down to about 55Β°...and remember shivering a lot and jumping into bed with lots of blankets early at night.
Janet - Yay for doing wt class and trainer! I am still trying to be consistent. Did a Circuit class on Wed that alternates cardio and wts and an "express" class, 15 minutes, of strength training today. I need more.
Yes I DID: --enjoy Tap class...we're struggling somewhat with the routine we're learning, which is a bit fast for many of us, but it's all good. A stretch for the brain and the body, I guess! --have a good cello lesson. Feel like I'm making progress. --lots of indoor walking, a couple brisk sessions at home.
Yes I CAN: --get myself in gear.... --cut back on sweets & cheese (my latest overindulgence!) --set my alarm for 30 minutes earlier in the a.m.(hoping I will coax myself to turn in earlier as well!)
Be well! Carol

Happy Saturday positive peeps! So sorry for the disappearing act constantly. If I can somehow get in the habit of popping in her first thing, maybe it wouldn't get away from me? ha! Hoping Jan you aren't going to get too much flooding down there. I'll be happy with snow here but it was a mix of snow and rain the other day and I think more of that in store this week. Must catch up but for now waving hello!! January finished out strong with a 6.6 loss, tracked daily and worked on my exercise and IF goals. More of that to come this month, but adding weights and outdoor walks to my mix of goals, along with keeping in my calorie range. Hope all are doing well. Nat

Another gray day with some rain. Scale stayed at 163.2 this morning so that was nice. This is day six OP and today will finish a week on Conquer Cravings/123 Success and I look forward to another week doing the same. Did not use any of the weeklies but might this coming week. We will see.
Lunch today will be stir fry using cauliflower, zucchini, carrots, and cabbage OR the zucchini will be cooked on top of rice in tomato sauce or water with garbanzo beans...if plain then I will make garlicky yogurt to go on top OR cauliflower steamed to go on the rice with the garlicky yogurt sauce and a bit of tahini. We will see...might cook more than one vegetable, rice, and then create meals as the spirit moves me.
Yes I Did: stay on program, hydrate, stay positive Yes I Can: finish the week OP and tracking as I prepare for the week to come
BOOKS: nearly finished with THE PATH OF PROGRESS by Colin Conway and will write that review today. Realized I had nearly finished FACE HER FEAR by Lisa Regan so will finish that today and write the review, too. In addition, for tomorrow there is a novella to read and will get that done before bed or sometime tomorrow.
CAROL: On days that the internet is bad and I have typed something up that won't go through, I have been known to copy and paste what I wrote into a document or notepad and then post it later. I hate iffy internet. As for the cold...I am glad to have a space heater and plenty of blankets. There are many refugees in Lebanon and displaced people in the region that do not have what I have. Some of the refugees have had their tents washed away in the rain and at least one 8 year old girl was swept away and drowned. It could be worse...so...focus on what I have rather than what I don't have...that said...would LOVE to have central heat and hot water on demand and remember what a joy it was to come in from long walks when in Europe last year with my daughter, take a shower, and be too hot with it cold outside, even with the windows open. Do you do classical music on the cello? The tap dancing...can the teacher give slower versions for those of you having difficulty with it so fast?
NAT: Congratulations on 6.6 pounds gone in January! Here's to both of us keeping the downward momentum going and seeing the number on the scale that is our goal...eventually! As for checking in daily...do it first thing and keep it short...long personal notes don't have to happen daily - just nice to see your post when it shows up!
EVERYONE: Here's hoping you have a wonderful day today!

Happy Sunday.
Been prepping for the next big rainstorm that is coming in tonight. I hope the poor folks that were flooded last time will be OK. The city has cleared more drains and is watching the low-lying areas carefully. I am on a hill so unless the tennis court above us ends up in our backyard, it won't, we will be just fine. We are still saving rainwater and have just drained our excess to the palm garden and citrus trees in preparation for this new storm. My BIL is getting battered in East Bay Sand Francisco with gale force winds. He's so lucky that he took his shade sail down! I'll let you know how the storm progresses if we continue to have power. I hear lots of Calif. folks are without right now. Very high winds. Met some friends for lunch today and didn't make a great choice. But gee that Bison burger was amazing!
Yes, I Can... --Do better food-wise. --Be thankful for a warm, dry house. --Tuck into a new book tomorrow and stay off the roads.
Nat: our local mountains got snow so I think you will too. Been watching the Eagles nest with Jackie and the 3 eggs. I feel so bad for them in the cold weather. Great job on the WL!!!
Carol: Good luck with the decluttering! That would be something I can do inside tomorrow. We can be accountabli-buddies on this. Tell us what you've put in the donate box!
Cathy: Great job on the WL for you too! Doing what has worked for you before...send me the strength! Glad you're staying warm.
Janet: Good luck on the WI! Don't work too hard friend.
Sally: Welcome back from the spa....
Back tomorrow,
Jan

The scale is down 4.2 pounds this week on Conquer Cravings/123 Success SO I will continue and see what happens. The first week back on usually is the biggest loss and this coming week I also have a scone tasting event so need to probably use the weeklies for Wednesday.
Lunch was leftovers from yesterday. The storm continues but is supposed to improve tomorrow. I hope so! We will go shopping tomorrow but my husband went out to buy some tomatoes, bread, dairy products and mostly for cat food.
YES I DID: Stay OP all week and track it all and saw a nice drop on the scale YES I CAN: Commit to another week doing the same program and keeping the momentum going.
BOOKS: Finished and posted reviews for the books I had hoped to and a book I was over halfway through and then read SHAMELESS PLAY by Kelly Finley that was VERY steamy about a man and woman who flirted and had a crush on one another in college but he was with someone that was her best friend so nothing ever came of it. Eight years post college graduation she is working in an adult sex toy shop, he comes into the shop in his hunky professional football body, they flirt, opt to have one night together to have what they didn't have in college, then move on. It was an event to try some fantasies both had and then move back into their usual lives...there is a hint at the end that they will meet up again in another book to be written soon. Not everyone's cup of tea but only took a couple of hours, I got to visit a warm southern town, and googled a few things I had not heard of before
JAN: The weather outside sounds FRIGHTFUL with the atmospheric river. We tend to have floods, landslides, and such here in Lebanon when it rains as much as it has recently. I'm glad I am tucked in safely and not in a tent outside and also glad we live on the top of a hill and not down where it is more likely to flood! Here's to both of us sticking with what works and seeing a drop on the scale!

Happy Monday positive peeps! Jan, poor Jackie the eagle. I was awake by the rain on and off all night so I was watching her. Man just poured and then wind whipping around up there, poor thing! I'm praying it turns to snow soon, at least that's softer LOL. Prayers for you guys down there, hoping for no flooding for you.
Yay Cathy on the loss this week!
Waving to Sally, Carol, Janet! I'm not caught up on posts but wanted to pop in her before I forget for the day (good idea Cathy). All is well on the mountain so far, just wet wet wet. Be back later!

Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down......so the song goes! But not really, I like Mondays.
Hi friends. No deluge here yet although it has been raining softly for a few hours. I got out this morning early for a Trader Joe's run. Called my elderly neighbor who has a bad cold and sore throat and got a short list of items for her too. Poor thing! Lisa is working on our friend's flooded house, and I feel a bit guilty as I cuddle up on the sofa with a good book looking out at rain and wind. Should start some de-cluttering.
Nat: I saw on the news this morning that you are getting lots of rain. Hope it turns to snow soon! Mammoth and Tahoe are sure getting some. Take care driving if you have to do so.
Cathy: Standing Ovation for your great weight loss!!!!!!!!! Yes, we are so lucky to be in houses on the hill instead of in a tent. Lots of refuges by our Mexico border too. Enjoy those scones!
Make it a good day everyone!

Scale was up a bit today but that is fine because I was OP and within points and calories so figure it is just the way fluctuations occur with ups and downs along the way. Tomorrow I have the scone event and those are points/calories packed gems of trouble so plan to use most if not all of my weekly points on the event. Might do some laundry and will go shopping and get my phone credit refilled.
Yes I did: stay OP, track it all, and stay positive Yes I can: track, hydrate, stay OP, get some chores done
The rain has stopped, finally, and today we should have sunshine, be able to do some laundry, and have a hot shower. My sister, in Chico-California, said she returned from her daily walk SOAKED and had a hot shower to warm up afterward and she said that their pool was almost to the top and needed to have some water released to allow for more rain. Sounds WET in California!
NAT: I had to google Jackie the Eagle...is she the one in Big Bear? I don't know how animals manage...can't be easy in bad weather, fires, etc. So good to see your post. I think sometimes just checking in can set the tone for the day
JAN: I was happy my friend that had surgery did not have to make the trip to Beirut yesterday in torrential rain and is going today in sunshine! I am happy you get to stay snuggled on the couch as I do the same reading and reviewing books.
BOOKS: Started FUNERAL DAZE by Dorian Box. Not sure if it is the first or second in a series. It is about a funeral home owner coerced by cartel-types into selling though they didn't want to. The cartel plans to use bodies to transport drugs. The parents will probably end up dead, their twelve-year-old daughter will be taken in by a widowed surf shop owner who will protect her and perhaps adopt her. It is fun and not too heavy and I only made it halfway through it yesterday. Hope to finish it today and then move on.
Here's hoping this week we all will achieve our goals!
