Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Ruth, that is a lot of socks!!! Don’t get me started on the subject of socks…as you said some are too tight, some will not stay up. I am sure your DH does not wear those “no see” socks, but they typically do not stay on but wiggle off in your shoes. I have done a the reverse sc a bunch of times, and it always comes out well, but its just awkward to make. Hope that you were able to get to Dh’s afghan…but it does sound as though you are making good progress reorganizing and straightening up. It’s hard to keep up with that kind of cleaning/household organizing when you are not always staying in the same place.
CJ- a good day to get started on a new project..if you are feeling up to it!!!
Happy Birthday George, even though your actual birthday is not until February 22.

Hello - Hope you are both having a good day. It's still a bit cool here, but sunny. Ginny - Hope you can figure out what you want to do with your machine. I also hope you and your DS are continuing to feel better. Ruth - Hope you've been able to get to your DH's blanket. He does have a lot of socks! I have new socks I haven't worn too, just want to keep them for when I need them, but really it would be better to be wearing them and enjoying them. I was able to finish one Snail's Trail block yesterday and I like how it turned out, so I cut the pieces for three more blocks and hope to get those made this week. I only used two fabrics - a red and a white, so it would be fun to make red and white quilt. This morning I cut the fabrics for last week's Moda Blockheads block and I finished making that. I want to try to keep up with those blocks. I need to get caught up on my Temperature quilt blocks too. Take care

CJ- I can see a snails trail quilt being stunning in red and white….and I am really glad you are pleased with how the blocks are turning out. Think of the historic quilts I have seen the red and white ones are the most memorable for me. It’s good to hear that you are pleased with how the moda blockheads blocks are coming out. Thanks for the reminder on the temperature quilt blocks…I know I will not get to mine until another week or so. Like you, it’s cool, but at least no snow or rain.
I did get to stipple a bit on DGD’s quilt some more, and had to rip out a small section where the bobbin was not feeding well, I will get back to it tomorrow, and figure I am about 40% done with the quilting. It’s a fairly large quilt so getting that much done is sort of an accomplishment.
Ruth, how is your day going? Did you get some work done on DD’s afghan?

CJ, I'm going to look up the snails trail quilt. I love quilts in red and white so I know it will be stunning. I'm glad you like the block you made so much that you cut fabrics for more. and I'm glad you liked the Moda blockhead one from last week too. I have to admit that I have packages of socks and undies too that I haven't opened. I guess it's the time in my life when I need to use these things. I have probably as many socks as dh because he seems to think that the make good Christmas and other holiday gifts
Ginny sorry to hear that you have to rip some out of the quilt but it sounds like you've made a lot of progress on it.
I did work on dh's afghan last evening. I haven't done any crocheting yet today as I was busy with trying a little more organizing, this time in the main level of our house where dh is going to have to stay for awhile after his surgery. That area of the house (the living room) seems to accumulate a lot of things that really don't belong there.
I hope you both have a good evening and sleep well

Ruth, funny I have been doing the same thing, trying to declutter areas of my house, as you so aptly mentioned, areas that accumulate a lot of things that simply do not belong there. It’s a good feeling when you can look around and the room simply makes more sense because there is less stuff around. Little by little you are getting Dh’s afghan done…which I am sure he will love. Hope that you are able to get things organized the way you want and in a way that works best for you.
I only had about 2 minutes of ripping out of stitching, if even that much. I heard a funny noise from my machine, and knew it was time to stop and check the bobbin thread- and I was right. Not sure how much quilting I will get done today..but I expect to be going to the quilt shop with Jane.
CJ- hope you slept well and can get a lot of work done on your pretty snails trail quilt. Do you think you will use this quilt to decorate your home with?

Hello Hope you are both well and having nice weather. It's sunny here, but still in the 40s. Ginny - Hope you enjoyed your trip to the quilt shop. Hope you can get back to quilting your quilt soon. Ruth - Hope you can get your organizing done and get back to your crochet. I had to go out today for an appointment and also I went up to my house to check on things, which were alright. I did have to sweep up glass from a liquor bottle thrown in the driveway. Dealing with all the trash in the driveway and yard is something I won't miss doing once the house is sold. I haven't done any quilting today, maybe I'll try to start on the other snail's trail blocks later. I'm only going to make 4 right now and see if I like them together before I make anything larger. I have put out a few of my finished quilt pieces in the new house - mostly table topper or all hanging size. I'm trying to rotate them every 3-4 weeks so I can enjoy seeing them. Take care

CJ- that is a great idea to rotate some finished quilt pieces in your home!! You have made many holiday based quilted items, either table topper or wall hanging size.Remember the mason jar quilt? Will you be using that to decorate in your home? I remember how excited you were to work on that- finally put that together. What a relief to you that soon enough you will not be responsible for cleaning up broken glass or trash in the driveway. I know, the memories and strong ties you have to your lifetime home. I also understand the emotional drain that having to check on a second home that is a bit of a distance from where you live now must be, and its always in the back of your head wondering if everything is ok. Did you like the other blocks put together, to see if you like how the quilt will look? Gee, 40 degree weather is not bad, we could be having snow. I heard this morning that meteorological spring starts in less than 2 weeks… and real spring is not far behind. Then we will be complaining about it being too hot!!
Ruth, were you able to work on Dh’s afghan ?? We have not heard you mention your weather much, so I hope it’s been reasonably pleasant and not a harsh winter. Do you have another project planned for after Dh’s afghan is completed? Oh, and i kind of figure that when I hit send, I will see that we were posting at the same time.
Busy day………. I did get to the quilt shop with Jane, and we both got what we wanted/ needed. She got the most adorable fabric for the back of her DGD’s quilt…white with little pink “x” all over it. So simple and sweet. I got the batting I needed, and some fat quarters (only needed 4 more) for the temperature quilt. I am looking forward to a more leisurely pace of sewing, and hope to get back to DGD’s quilt tomorrow.

CJ, I'm so happy that you're putting your work out where you can enjoy it. You've made such beautiful quilts it's a shame to not be able to see them easily.I'm glad your house was ok except for the glass. I'm glad you're out of that neighborhood. The house served you and your family well and now it's time to move on yet keep the happy memories.
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to go to the quilt store with Jane. It does indeed sound like Jane got some great baking material. Yes you can get back to quilting tomorrow (well today when you read this) and you will soon be putting on the final pieces and it will be done
Well the weather here has had it's ups and downs literally. Some days are cold and some are warm. Today was in the 50's and nice and sunny with very little wind.So far this month which usually is our worst has been very nice even on the days we got snow.Of course I keep thinking of the blizzard here last year right after we got to Indiana. I was and still am thankful that it didn't arrive just a couple days earlier. That was in the beginning of April. I haven't worked on dh's blanket yesterday or today. I'm not following a pattern so I've taken a couple days off of it to decide on what all stitches I want to use for the rest. I'd say I'm maybe 1/4 of the way through it. In the meantime I'm working on another baby blanket that I found partially done with a nice easy stitch. Today I did more moving of things some of which went into the garage which I will work on in the days after dh's surgery while he's napping.I also redid one of my shelves of yarn but I think I need to change how I have the yarn stacked but am not sure I can get it the way I really want it to make room for more yarn to go on that shelf yet still be able to see what's there. On that baby blanket I completed a couple days ago I used up 6 skeins of yarn but you would never know by the looks of my yarn room.Dh's blanket is using up quite a bit from the shelf I redid today.I didn't realize I had so much. It's Lion Brand Hometown and is a super bulky weight. The blanket will be heavy yet soft and cuddly.

Ruth, Dh’s afghan sounds like it will be so nice! Those super bulky yarns are usually really really soft…I have not worked with that particular yarn but it sounds great. Glad you are seeing a dent in your yarn store!! I was curious to see how CJ fared reorganizing her fabric during her relocation. When I try to reorganize my fabric ( I am trying to downsize my yarn stash so that is not as out of control). I think CJ felt she did pretty well with her fabric storage…and I hope that when all done you are feeling good about your yarn storage. I rather envision your yarn storage as the way AC Moore used to look with their red heart yarn storage….a wall of glorious colors, every color you could imagine. It’s impressive that you are not following a pattern for the afghan. A true creation of love and talent!
I ended up taking out an afghan that I started making for DD#2 after she married DSIL#2 . Thankfully it was easy to get back into the routine of what I was doing and i got 2 rows done. I do enjoy crocheting at night when watching television at the end of the day.
Later on I am taking my neighbor (who does not drive) to her future employer - the corporate office that she needs to get to today is a bit of a distance from here and she needs a ride. There is a chance that DD#2 might be joining me, as she wants to check out something sold at a store not too far from where we will be driving. For now, I think I will get dressed and work on the quilt for an hour.
CJ, hope that you slept well. Have you had any more motion toward the sale of your house?

Hello - Hope you are both having a nice day and nice weather. Ruth - I'm glad to hear your winter hasn't been too bad, I hope that continues. Hope you can get everything done in the house to be ready for after your DH has his surgery. Ginny - I'm happy to hear your found what you needed at the fabric store. Hope the trip today went well. It's so nice how you help your neighbors I haven't heard from the house buying company since last week. I'm giving them until tomorrow afternoon and then I'll try calling to see if they have the inspection results. I need to have those to see if they are changing the price they offered (hopefully not). I sure hope this sale goes through with no problems. It seems like they bombard you with lots of emails and calls and then all of the sudden they are quiet. I finished making 4 of the Snail's Trail quilt blocks today and I've laid them out two ways to decide which one I like the best. I don't think I'll make any more than this. I'll have a 24x24 table topper with this. It was an easy block to make and I was able to chain piece a lot of it which went quicker. I would maybe consider making another table topper in different colors. I just need to decide on my layout for the table topper, I'll add some pictures of my options The new Moda Blockheads block came out today so I hope I can get the fabric cut for that in the next few days and then get it done. This one has a lot of parts. modafabrics.com/inspiration-resources/bh5-group-2-block-8-crystal-manningI'll also add a picture of all my Moda Blockheads block up to last week. Take care

CJ- well done on the snake trail blocks!!! Which layout do you prefer? Both are nice, but I think I prefer the bottom arrangement. That is just me……and your blockhead blocks are great, as always your piecing is so clean and precise.
Today went longer than anticipated…glad to help out my neighbor but it sure did take a pretty big chunk of the day. I got a tiny bit of free motion work done this morning and a tiny bit of crocheting while waiting for my neighbor. Think I will get into my pjs and crochet some
Ruth were you able to make any progress on Dh’s afghan?

CJ, well I hope the company gets back to you and offer you the same amount. If they offer less do you have the option to negotiate a better price with them? I prefer the top snails trail block I went to the link you shared with us and like the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th blocks a lot.
Ginny, you're so kind to help out your neighbors. Yes sometimes it does take a lot of time. If she gets this job and doesn't have a car how will she get to work and back. I think I remember you saying you drove her because she doesn't have a car
I didn't get much done today. I did do some vacuuming and of course the usual kitchen work but didn't even get to crocheting because I ended up reading instead. I might do an hours worth of crocheting now even though its 1am

Ruth, well you sound like my days sometimes, getting only a short amount of time in on crafting. But every hour counts toward completion of the project. Hopefully you can get more time in crocheting today. Glad you got some housework done- last I checked homes do not clean themselves, so it’s something you have to do.
CJ- hope that you hear from the real estate company today. It’s just nice to know that you have progress ongoing.
DS started back on nights again last nite..so I stayed up to see him off to work. Slept pretty badly last night. I do have big plans for today, lots to get done. Let’s see if I can accomplish any of what I want to do today!

Ginny, I hope you're able to do all the things you have planned without it wearing you out too much. Sorry you had a problem with sleeping.I remember you mentioning the afghan you were planning to make for your dd#2 and you started it. It was a beautiful pattern.
I hope you;re having a good day also, CJ. I hope that company has called you or that you were able to contact them and that you heard good news.
Dh and I took several things to our storage shed and it was really nice weather. We came back in the house and it started snowing!!! Well that didn't last long and temp went back up to 50. After we got done with that I started going thru my paperwork in my file cabinet and set aside all the papers that were dated before 2021 (well except for those you have to keep forever) and I'll burn them when it's not windy. So now I'm ready to crochet for the rest of the day.
I might bbl to see if CJ stopped in
