It’s raining here now, and think a light rain is supposed to fall overnight.
I did get one more bobbin done on the quilt and will crochet a bit this evening. Just not in a mood to stipple some more. These larger quilts are a lot of work. This morning was very busy, got some housework done, and went to BJ’s and Walmart before a doctors appointment. I was home by 1….wanted to stop in Joann’s but think it makes more sense to go next week. I was only going there to return some thread which thankfully I have the reciept for.
CJ and Ruth, hope that you both got some crafting in today. Ginny

Well look at that….Ruth and I were posting at the same time. I hope to get some decent sleep tonight. Problem is that I will try to stay up to see Ds head out for work at 9:30pm.
Ruth that sure is strange….did you get much snow? It always feels good to get rid of paperwork. Your filing system will seem so much easier to handle with less clutter in it. Like you, I have a pile of papers to burn, if the rain ends early enough tomorrow morning I will take care of that then.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you got your errands done and I hope you can get some more quilting done soon. Hope your DS has safe travels to and from work. Ruth - Weather sure is strange! I'm glad you've gotten some paperwork cleared out. I'm not sure which layout I'll use for the Snail's Trail block, I have to think about it a little bit since I like both of them. This morning I was able to get my Temperature quilt up to date, only another week and February will be over. I also started working on the sashing for the Moda Blockheads blocks from last year (one set of them at least) and I hope to get that done in the next few days. I still have two other sets of those blocks to do something with. I did not hear from the house buying place so I left a voicemail with my point of contact (still haven't heard back from him) and sent an email to the original person I worked with for the contract (still waiting to hear from her). If they do offer a lower price I can walk away from this contract, so that's why I'm interested to hear if they are going to lower the price. Hopefully I'll hear something from someone tomorrow. I didn't sleep that well last night. I think I woke up at 2:00, 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00. Hopefully tonight will be better. We're supposed to get some rain tomorrow and then colder temps this weekend. Take care

CJ, I'm sorry you were not able to speak to someone from that company. It would have been great to have that all settled. Both the layouts you showed us for the Snail Trail quilt are very pretty so whichever you choose it will be great.
None of the snow accumulated. It pretty much melted immediately but it was definitely snow not rain.
We'll be going out tomorrow to shop. This particular store has the ground beef special every Friday and surprisingly at the same price they've had it for years.
I hope both of you get some good sleep tonight.

Hello - Hope you are both doing well today. We had some rain here earlier and now some colder temperatures for the weekend. Ruth - I hope you were able to get the ground beef this time. It is surprising that it's stayed the same price for years. I went out earlier to run some errands so I didn't do any quilting today. I've been enjoying watching some DVDs I have of the Great British Baking Show. It's such an enjoyable show to watch. I slept a little better last night. I've been having lots of strange dreams. I've also had several dreams about my empty house, I guess it's on my mind and I'm worried about it. I didn't hear from either of the people from the house buying company, it's very frustrating. I've called and emailed them and they just don't respond at all. There's not much I can do until I hear back from them. I'd just like to know if I'm moving forward with them, or if I have to start over with another company. I'm still surprised at how bad customer service has gotten over the last several years. I couldn't imagine not returning an email or phone call when I was still working, it was just expected as part of your job. I've had so many experiences over the last few years of businesses not responding. I have to believe they really don't care whether they get your business or not. Sorry for the rant, I'm just frustrated Take care and have a good weekend

CJ, I understand completely. Businesses really don't care about customers as you said. It's horribly frustrating when that happens especially in a large issue like you have that is in the selling of your house. And it's Friday and now you probably have to wait until the new week. I hope the rest of your day goes well.
We did get to the store. This store is the most expensive one in our town but although the prices are high they do now and then have good sales and it was true this week. We did manage to get some good bargains and got the ground beef. The only thing is that we would have liked to buy more packages of the meat but they now limit you to 5 packs. Each pack is 1 1/2 lbs.
Now, after carrying all those bags into the house, I'm sitting watch tv and crocheting
Ginny, I hope you're having a good day also and hope your son got to and from work safely.

Good evening!
Ruth, I am so glad to hear that you were able to get the good deal on the ground beef today!! The Friday ground beef deal is a loss leader, and a calculated attempt to get customers in the store hoping that you will not notice the other prices which are high. Yes, the worst part of shopping is just that, getting the groceries in the house and put away. Certainly not anyones favorite part of the process for sure!! Hope you had a productive day crocheting… something nice and restful to do, especially after a day of shopping.
CJ, I would be tempted to call another company about the sale of your house… see if perhaps they can answer some questions for you and WHY this is taking the other company so long. Perhaps they can shed some light on the situation or also provide you with a means to get out of the contract with the other company. I am a patient person, but it sure seems as though you are not being treated fairly as you are getting no communication from them.. IMO- for the snake path pattern I like the smaller units separately because if you use it as a table topper, you can see the pattern if something (Like a book) covers the rest of the pattern. Of course just my opinion and your taste is I am sure very different than mine (but that was my rationale for liking the smaller pattern). Did you make any progress on the blockheads sashing? Oh, I hope you slept better. I remember very well all the sleepless nights when trying to sell my mom’s house.
Thankfully Ds got home safely yesterday and is sleeping at the moment - but will go back into work at 9:30. These hours are awful… I keep praying that a day shift position will open up, or at least 3-11.
This morning I got up, and with my tea, decided to crochet a bit while watching the news. (Remember during a normal week my mornings are very rushed). That was a nice change. Got most of my Saturday housework done too. Rehearsal was moved to mid day, and then I got back home and DD#2, DSIL#2 and the kids came over. (Rather unexpected). So I am finally settling in…hope to work on one more bobbin on the quilt and then crochet.
Just so hard to believe that this break is almost over with

Well one thing that was discouraging about shopping was that I was again overcharged. We're kind of planning to go there next Friday anyway to get more of the meat and will take our receipt with us to show them and hopefully get that money back. Not that it was a whole lot of money but why give away money for nothing. Yes I was just thinking that your vacation is nearly over . It's nice that your dd. dsil, and the children visited I know you see your dd pretty often but not the whole family. I did finish the baby blanket I was working on. It's actually a pretty small blanket since I was using the remainder of my Lion Brand Jamie yarn. That yarn was discontinued. It's probably between car seat and receiving blanket size. I started another baby blanket which is not the smartest thing for me to do because I have several afghans already started

Hello - Hope you are both having a nice day. It's a bit cloudy here, but milder. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get the ground beef, but sorry to hear that you were overcharged again. Hope you can get that worked out the next time you are there. I've had that happen to me too, mostly where I thought I was buying the item on sale, but it was only one variety that was on sale. I think it's really tricky the way grocery stores do that. Hope you enjoy making the baby blankets. I think we all start too many projects Ginny - I'm glad you had some time off and that you enjoyed the visit with your family. Hope you can get some more machine quilting finished. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and suggestions about the house buying company. They did tell me the inspection results could take 1-2 weeks and it will be 2 weeks on Monday. I have to be careful because I did sign a contract and they could sue me if I tried to get out of it without a reason allowed in the process. I also want to keep that second company as a backup in case the first one falls through, so I wouldn't want to involve them in any problems I'm having with the first company. I plan to call and email every day this coming week and eventually someone will answer me because unfortunately it's the squeaky wheel that gets the attention. I went up to my house today to check on things and fortunately they were alright. I'm hoping to maybe do some quilting later, but I'm not feeling very motivated right now. The only thing pushing me is that I'm sick of seeing these quilt blocks and sashing pieces laying out on my table Hope you enjoy your day

Ruth, I absolutely do not blame you for making the grocery refund you even a small amount….it just seems absurd that in this day and age that the store computers cannot be accurate. I hope you do go back next week and that they do not give you a hard time (I figure they will not).Glad you finished the afghan.. and congrats on starting another one! Is this new afghan one you are making just because, or because you wanted t use a specific pattern? Is this afghan also using Lion brand Jamie yarn?
CJ- wow that all in one granny square yarn is so adorable!! I would be tempted to pick some up but I know it must depend upon having the proper size hook and gauge….and I am not so sure I would be able to do a good job of that. I might be in Joanns in the next day or so, and can check it out then. Let us know if you do pick the yarn up and how it works out! Glad your house is still ok…and I really really do hope that the company you are dealing with gets busy moving this sale along. this must be frustrating for you and I am sure you are really ready to move on and not have to check on the house.
Well….last night I broke the thread (30 wt cotton) and this morning broke a needle. This afternoon I took my singer out and suspect that tomorrow I will see if I can get it to work. Think my next step after that is to drop off my machine to have it serviced. I am frustrated… very.
DD#2 came over with the kids again today, and it was good to see them.
Ok gotta vent, and I hope you do not mind. I did take my neighbor downtown again for some quick errands, which I do not mind that at all. Her husband is slowly recovering from a very difficult abdominal procedure…which he has told me the details of, but I have been very careful to respect his privacy and not speak to anyone but his wife about his condition. Someone (a non family member) about his progress, and I did mention that he was recovering. She then asked me what his he had done,to which I replied “ a very major surgical procedure”. She asked me again which procedure, to which I responded “ a major procedure”. You would think that she would get the picture that I am not talking. Well, nasty person, she told me that she would find out anyway because she would text him to ask him what he had done and that he would tell her. Sorry, the words “nasty b**ch” came into my mind… I just cannot believe how nervy she is.
DD#1 and her household are sick and I already know I am not babysitting on Sunday. Honestly I am not feeling 100% either….
Time to go watch a movie…..

Ginny - I was just watching a few YouTube videos about this yarn and it looks like it can be frustrating to use. Sorry I can't link the videos but if you search for granny square yarn reviews you'll find them.

CJ,I've seen a lot of people in the crochet groups showing projects they made with that yarn. Yarn companies do come out with so many new gimmicks in their yarn. On the Joann ad it makes the granny square yarn look like it's a jumbo skein but it actually has only 417 yards which is not much more than the RHSS regular size has which is 364. Granny squares seem to be very popular again right now. I haven't been tempted to buy any. I haven't make a granny square in ages. They do have pretty colors though. No one has mentioned that they had problems with gauge.
I thought I had used up all my Jamie yarn in that little blanket but I found today that I have three skeins of pink and white and about six in a multi color.(I used four of the blue and white and a skein of it in all white) They're small skeins. I think 109 yarns and it's hard to use the pink and white and blue and white with adding another yarn because it's hard finding the same white and the same blue or pink unless you have Jamie in one of those colors or white which I no longer have. I did see a good idea on the Daisy Farm Craft site where they made a blanket using two blues and white and a darker blue for the border which turned out really nice. It was the Bernat bundle up yarn.
Ginny, that was really rude of that woman to be so insistent in trying to get you to tell her the details of your neighbor's surgery. As you said, those words would come to mind. Nosey Nellie too. And sorry about your sewing machine. I hope when you get it back from servicing that it works the way it should.
I haven't done much today but make stuffed cabbage leaves then clean up the kitchen. I also did a little crocheting and intend to do more.I hate to admit it but I started another afghan today. The one I started yesterday was with baby yarn and it was going to take forever so I set it aside and restarted one that I tried a few months ago. I don't know where that one is so started a brand new one which is in one of those Harry Potter color combos. My dd despite being just short of 50 years old is a huge HP fan and likes the "family" or clan or whatever that has the colors of burgundy and gold so I'm making it for her for her birthday which is in the middle of April.

CJ, we were tying at the same time. I haven't watched any of the reviews of that yarn. I did wonder about it though..how it makes a granny square and if there's a certain kind of gs that you have to be making in order for it to work.
