Good Morning Challengers
Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 22 pts. We walked 2.2 mi before breakfast.
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT: N - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - Evening: “Snack on Inspo”; Read prayers, quotes, whys and goals: 💚 - FFFE (Food-Free Fasting Evenings): 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚
I did a run of errands in late afternoon after late lunch. I returned a jacket I bought for work that didn’t look right on me and found two jackets on sale that do look OK. 🙌
DH got 3 tomato plants and a pepper, and cleaned the bed and got them in. Maybe we’ll have tomatoes when we get back 🍅. He cut back the chard, which had been ready and waiting for the table for quite a while. It is a patient plant. We had some for dinner 😃.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

THURSDAY! Bridge was fun, thanks for asking. Today we are hosting an afternoon gathering for -- you guessed it-- PI (PIE) DAY! What a concept: 1) clean once for two events and 2) afternoon pie and coffee instead of a full-blown dinner! Win-win! Also, thanks for sending the rain. We had a nice, long soak-in rain overnight. CAIT -- good job with your HHs and looking forward to summer tomatoes. Drive safely on you trip back north! KELLY -- how nice to be able to walk outside. Hope Leroy is doing well MICHELLE -- my friend used to take her dogs on a "snifari," so that's probably what Claire's doing. Today I went to water class, and I stretched. 164/250 miles 72/75 stretching Stretching: 2018:141; 2019:192; 2020:182; 2021:190; 2022:195; 2023:191 Jan:19; Feb:13; Mar: 10/31

Yesterday we went to lunch with friends. The husband used to walk with DH sometimes along the beach and they’d stop for burgers and beer. We saw the wife at the Monte Carlo Gala, and another time when she stopped by with her sister, but we haven’t seen him in maybe two years. He’s had 5 hospitalizations in the past months for congestive heart failure and complications, one of them for 25 days. He is so thin. But he seems to be doing pretty well now, using a cane and seemed to have energy and no problems breathing or talking. It was at first a shock to see him, but we had a good time.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Saturday Morning Challengers Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 18 pts. We walked 2.2 mi before breakfast. I did 17 mins of PT exercises after lunch 🥳. We went to bed early last night and left this am at about 6:30 am. I attended my weekly WW virtual workshop this am - “How a bedtime routine can help you reach your goals.” Loved this, especially the part about sleep affecting appetite hormones. “Quality sleep doesn’t just help you feel good and stay healthy, science shows it’s linked to eating well (sleep affects hormones that regulate appetite), moving regularly, and being in the right mindset for making decisions that align with your goals.” www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/how-bedtime-can-help-you-reach-goalsDoing my JGTB HH consistently has been a major NSV for me after a lifetime of a staying up late habit. It was a “treat” that turned into a monster devouring my health and my life. Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. Cait

Yesterday we drove 565 miles, had a nice dinner at our fave restaurant in Redding CA. In the hotel bar after dinner, and later in our room, we watched our SoCal local college basketball team win their conference, so they’re going to the NCAA tournament! DH is a big March Madness college b-ball fan.
This am we had our complimentary hotel breakfast and we’re on our way to get groceries in Yreka CA, then home by early afternoon. The weather has been comfortable, and gorgeous! People were sitting outdoors having dinner. Temp was high 70’s maybe 80 around 4:30-5 pm.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

CAROL - So nice you could host your bridge group and pi(e) day and give your kitchen makeover an intro to local society 😃. GFY keeping up with water class, Lap swim and stretching
MICHELLE - GJ with Clair’s walking and PT and your steps.
KELLY - GFY with the 2 mi last Mon, 2 mi WATP Tues, 3.21 mi walk Wed, 2 mi WATP Thurs. I can imagine the call offs would get annoying. I’m sure you enjoyed your outings Fri and Sat. Hope Leroy went and was comfortable.

Good Morning!!
It was a beautiful weekend, Unfortunately colder weather for this week. I was really enjoying the warmer temps.
I added 7.97 miles Friday-Sun. 3 miles were WATP and the others were outside walks each day.
The Browder's were good as always.
The 55+ 80s event was fun.
Yesterday, went to Church, picked up groceries, took my walk, and then rested most of the rest of the day. Did make some vegetable soup and made a small tuna noodle casserole with some left over wheat egg noodles.
Weekends fly by so quickly.
Cait: Awesome job on your good days. Glad you had good travel. Leroy did well with both events.
Waving to all!! Happy walking!!

Monday, Monday!
CAIT -- 565 miles in one day would make for a l-o-n-g day for me! It's just about 500 miles to Fred's folks' in Colorado Springs, and neither of us likes driving the last 50 miles on a 2-lane rural highway in the dark. It's always a little amazing that we make it at all! Last winter we were held up by a fatal accident on that road, so now we really, really try to avoid driving it in the dark. Good job with your HHs!
KELLY -- yes, the weekends speed by, especially if there's a lot to do! Great job with your outdoor walks and WATP. It's getting colder here, too. I had to cover my pansies last night, and they're still covered now.
I swam laps on Friday and went to water class yesterday. I stretched both times in the pool.

Good Afternoon Challengers Yesterday I did 5/6 of my main HHs, ate in my 🛑 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 51 pts. No walk, travel day. Got in lots of steps up and down stairs. We sat out on the deck for a while and had dinner out there. Temp out there was nice, 66 F, but dropped to high 50’s while we were having dinner. The front deck is in the process of being replaced so we have to come in and out downstairs. We saw two deer below us eating some of the green shoots coming up. It was nice to have “company” for dinner. 😃 In the evening DH’s popcorn aroma was overpowering and that together with my post-event eating habit and some work stress led to me eating popcorn, 2 peanut butter cups and a Clif bar, but I tracked it and stopped and did JGTB. I was tempted to do the old staying up late reading and eating. I’m doing what I can to stick close to my HHs and make this a 💚 day! Good Afternoon Challengers
Yesterday I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 24 pts. We walked 2.4 mi before breakfast. I did 12 mins of PT exercises before dinner 🥳.
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT: 💚 - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - Evening: “Snack on Inspo”; Read prayers, quotes, whys and goals: 💚 - FFFE (Food-Free Fasting Evenings): 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚
Yesterday we had the contractor working out front all day, and in the afternoon the well pump guy came to replace the iron removal system. DH had to clean out iron material from sink faucet aerators. But then he found that the upstairs toilet tank wouldn’t refill. Today he replaced the intake valve and the handle, which was failing. He discovered that the old valve was plugged up with iron deposits. He had the parts here just in case 😃. I love my Handy Man!
Yesterday we walked the upriver part of the road and stopped to see if Lucy the goose had returned, and she was there, sitting on her nest in the same spot as last year, along with her mate! He honked at us, but she was calm. We’ve seen lots of ducks in the river and flying up and downstream. One male merganser was patrolling the area where his mate was resting - he was agitated by a goose who was resting on the water just downriver from them.
We had soup I had frozen, left over from our last stay here in Nov! I had forgotten. Such a nice surprise.
We had dinner out on the deck. Even with our trees burned, it’s a nice peaceful place. It lifts my spirit.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

CAROL - GJ with the stretching, lap swim Fri and water class Sun. The 565 mi is long but not that bad, all freeway, a straight shot up the middle of the state. We leave around 6 am and arrive at the hotel in Redding around 4 pm. Then it’s a good night’s sleep and only another 140 miles, 2-1/2 hours, to get groceries and get home the next day. In early afternoon. We wouldn’t want to drive in the dark for our last hour from Yreka to home. It’s a two lane road through the mountains and along the rivers. Lots of animals out on the roads at night. We used to drive straight thru going south because it’s not that bad to arrive at night in the city, but the 700 mi 11-12 hr drive got to be too much for one day and DH prefers a layover.
MICHELLE - I’m sure you’re doing well with Clair’s PT and walks and your steps.
KELLY - GFY with the 7.97 mi Fri-Sun. Glad you could walk outdoors despite the cooler weather, you enjoyed the two church events, and Leroy was able to enjoy them too. Sounds like maybe he’s adjusting to the new normal.
