I take credit for tracking seven days this week. This is a biggie for me. I also weighed and measured and kept the right food in the house and my trigger food out of the house, which included putting lemon bars back on the display in the bakery at the grocery store and kept up with my online support groups. I am grateful that my husband and I are still healthy.

Credit for tracking everything all week and for staying on my plan - eating per hunger/satiation/dealing with cravings - and for eating healthfully all week. Credit for exercising as much as I able to, which was every day. bbbearsmom, You did really great with tracking every day! Good job too for putting the lemon bars back on the shelf. I used to "have" to buy a particular small chocolate cream pie in the supermarket bakery every couple of months or so, and then eat almost the whole thing. I withdrew from it during the pandemic lock down, when I wasn't going into the store. Now I sometimes "visit" that pie in the store - I look at it and remember how good it tasted, but also remember how controlling it became to me and how badly it treated me in terms of my health and my weight management plan, and I think of how I don't need it any more, and then walk away.

susan092907, The amount in the packages is too much. One small item would be okay, but more is too much. They sell single big fancy cupcakes there, but I remember what a cupcake tastes like and don't get one. I have some peanut butter every day and every day I want more but I've been able to ignore the urge because that is what it is, just an urge that can be ignored.

bbbearsmom, good that you can ignore the urge. That's what I'm almost always working on.

Do you have other goals in relation to your health besides staying at your goal weight?

I want to keep passing my yearly blood work and stay mobile and retain some strength.

Yes I do have other health related goals. They involve what I'm eating, because I'm trying to address certain bloodwork issues. Eating the way I'm doing now, for my health, has also helped me manage my weight. Also, I'm doing aerobic exercise, strength training, and balance training to help me stay strong, fit, and safe.

My big goal for the week is to keep up with my tracking. Other goals are to weigh and measure, keep the right food in the house and the trigger food out of the house, and keep up with my online support groups. My me-time is my computer and reading time.

My plan for the week is to continue on my plan to eat healthfully and per hunger/satiation/dealing with cravings. I'll track what I eat. I'll exercise as much as I can.

Wednesday, 03/13 What about you made you successful in doing this?

I can organize myself, figure out the tasks to be done, and can get myself to do the tasks most of the time. Also, the first few programs from when I started in 2006 worked very well for me. The ability to see the big picture of my health as a goal helps keep me motivated.

What helps me most is that I can be very determined about certain things. Exercise is one of them - I remind myself of why I like the results of doing it, and I just do it. If there's a period of time that I can't do it, then I just get back to it as soon as I can. I've been doing this for years, well before I learned to manage my weight.
Over the years, my determination has helped me with weight management, but not as consistently as with exercise. It's only in the past 15 or so years, and I've been having weight problems since I was 18 years old and I'm now over 70 years old - that I've been able to apply that determination to weight management. In the past, I could do it for only short periods of time. I could lose weight well, but then I'd regain it. I'm still working on being consistently determined to manage my weight, but it's still the best skill that I have for it.
