Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, playing a musical instrument, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store ,researching a new quilt shop, attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. And one of us is never going to buy a fat quarter bundle again! We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

And we are off!!!! Off to the start of another week, which seems to go so quickly.
Sillyme, hope that you enjoyed your long weekend and got some crochet time in.
CJ- when is your appointment with the attorney/lawyer? I am hoping that this week and the meeting with the attorney brings a path to resolve the lssue with the land and some movement towards finalizing the sale of the house. Were you able to get some quilting time in?
Ruth, congrats on getting the toilet in! You mentioned an ingenious way Dh had to keep the toilet up before actually putting it into place. Perhaps you can get a grandson or son in law to assist installing the second toilet? Anyway, the one is installed and that is great. I have never installed a toilet, but do know it’s a very cumbersome job. Are you all done with bonnets and hats and back to crocheting afghans? Time sure is flying, and DD’s birthday is fairly soon, isn’t it?
Yes, I have the loaner sewing machine in my house. i’m taking my car to have it serviced this morning and when I get back, I hope to be able to spend some time getting the loaner machine set up which should only take me a few minutes and get back to sewing.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today and having nice weather It's sunny and in the 50s here. Ginny - I hope you are able to set up the loaner machine and have it work for you. It's great that you have fabric for the new pattern from Shabby Fabrics. I've made several things with their patterns and they seem to be pretty easy to follow. Ruth - I'm glad you and your DH were able to get the toilet installed and hopefully you can just leave the second one for someone else to install later. Sorry you had some more snow, but I guess you're used to that - still would be nice for Spring to arrive for you isillyme - Hope you had a good weekend and were able to make some of those figures. I haven't heard from the house buying company or the settlement company today so far, maybe they'll contact me later. I think that email I got about settlement was just a "pre-programmed" email and I'd be surprised if settlement is this week, but we'll see. The appointment with the lawyer is this week, so I'll be interested to see what options he can find for me to deal with the land. I don't want to spend a lot of time or money on this, as a last resort the land can just sit there vacant. I went out to get some groceries this morning and run some errands, then after I put the groceries away I drove up to my house to check on things - so that was the whole morning. I don't plan to do anything this afternoon. I did get my Temperature quilt updated, but I didn't feel like working on the Moda block. It has 41 pieces!!!! I'm finding that I enjoyed the Moda Challenge last year since my life was pretty quiet, but with all the stress right now, these blocks take more energy than I have. Take care

Well it looks like no one made it here on Tuesday (it's after mn here)
I hope all of you are ok and had a good day. I did get in crochet time but am still on hats. Tomorrow my yarn order should be here. That's what they say anyway. They said it would be here on Tues but it wasn't and they updated to Wed.I do have one skein of each color so the order not getting here is not what kept me working on hats instead of the blanket.I just decided to keep on with hats until Wed.
CJ, I hope you've heard from the house buying company and that it's good news.
Ginny,i hope the loaner is working and that you got sewing time in
Sillyme, I hope you enjoyed the long weekend.

Good morning, Sorry about being MIA yesterday. I had a combination of a lack of decent sleep, followed by issues beyond my control.
Ruth, hope that your yarn arrives today!!! I have found that those updates on shipments seem to be reasonably accurate, and I hope that is true regarding your yarn order. Good thing that you have hats to make to keep you busy.
CJ- best of luck when you meet with your lawyer. Think there might be a liability issue leaving the property vacant. I know it seems like it is a lot of work to straighten out the problem, which I hope can somehow be resolved so it’s not a burden to you. Yikes, 41 pieces in a block is quite something…not sure I would want to take that on with all you have goin on at t he moment.
Sillyme- how is it going on program?
I did spend some time yesterday ripping out the section ( fairly large) of stippling that I sewed when the machine was acting up. What I am seeing is the contrast between when the machine sewed beaufifully (which it surely did!) and when this issue started. Today I hope to finish ripping out and resume sewing.
One of my two cats is not doing well. Seems she has a stomach issue, and she is not eating. Yes, I got her to the vet yesterday- her bloodwork comes back today. She is a sweet little girl, only 4 years old. The vet did give her a shot to settle her stomach yesterday, which worked- yesterday. She is back to not eating today. It’s so sad.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today We've had rain yesterday and it looks like today too, and it was a bit colder than it had been. I had the appointment with the lawyer and he seemed optimistic that something could be resolved with the land issue so it could be sold with the house. So I'm hoping something good will come from that in the next few weeks. I just have to be patient, which is not something I'm good at I wasn't feeling well yesterday afternoon and evening, so I mostly stayed in bed. I'm doing better today and it was nice to get all that rest. I'm hoping to cut the fabric for the last two Moda blocks today so I can catch up with those. Here's the one that came out yesterday: modafabrics.com/inspiration-resources/bh5-group-2-block-13-debbie-maddyI also learned how to DVR and record a show, which was new to me since my old internet at the house didn't have that. I recorded The Amazing Race last night so I hope to watch that today. Hope you all get to do some crafting and that you have a good day

Ginny, I hope you got some rest last night and hope you were able to finish ripping out so that you can go forward on the quilt. It's hard to believe that your week off is nearly over. How is your cat doing. Your cats are still really young so hopefully she is doing ok
CJ, it's great that you got good news from the attorney. Now, as you said, you have to wait again and see how everything works out and I sure hope it all goes well from now on. Patience is not a virtue that I possess either. I like the block but it too seems to have a lot of pieces. I wouldn't mind the half triangles but those with the added part I would have no clue. I'm sorry you were not feeling well yesterday but I'm glad you're feeling better and hope you continue to feel ok.
I did more crocheting yesterday and last evening but I'm still on hats. I wanted to try out a method of increasing at the top that a favorite YouTuber has a video for.It makes a ridged increase instead of the plain old flat section. This makes it great for textured hats. My current one is a waffle stitch hat.

CJ - that is excellent news from your attorney, that with some effort the land can be sold with the house! From a practical standpoint, I think that is best, and now that the Attorney thinks that is possible, well then it seems to be the best way to go. What a relief that must be for you!! Of course you want it done sooner as opposed to later, but considering the possible hassles faced by selling the land separately, well this sounds like a perfect plan and I am so happy for you. Sorry to hear that you were not feeling well. Hope that a day of rest has restored you and that you are feeling more like yourself. Gee that block that just came out is pretty!! I love the colors used- deep to medium blue and brown…it is one of my favorite color combinations. Looking forward to seeing what you do with that block.
Ruth, that is awesome that you found a new technique for a ridged increase to make hats. Guess you are not going to use that technique for a waffle stitch hat, but it’s sure nice to know that you can use that with other patterns. I forget, did your yarn show up the other day?
So let’s see, last night I finished ripping out all the stitches and got a good start working on the quilt today. I forgot now nicely the machine works when it’s working well… What a relief. I made a shepherds pie for dinner this evening…what a nice comfort meal. My cat seems to be doing better, she did eat today but not as much as normal. I think her tummy is slowly improving. The vet called this am and I am taking her in for fluids tomorrow, just to make sure she is ok. The Vets office is closed for the weekend, and I know that with fluids tomorrow she should be able to go through the weekend even if she does not eat well. (She ate about half what she normally eats today which is MUCH better than the nothing that she ate yesterday!). Her little box is still a bit off..hopefully that will straighten out in a day or so.
Got some rest last night, but I admit I was a bit upset knowing my little cat was not feeling well. Yes tomorrow is Friday…ugh. Not looking forward to a busy week of babysitting and whatever. Got rehearsal this evening at church. Hope I do not get back too late.

CJ, I used to love using the DVR that we had with Directv but now we have no satellite nor streaming, just basic antenna tv so no DVR. We actually do have several DVD players and blank video tapes so could record that way but there really is nothing on TV that I want to record anymore.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear that your cat is improving. I'm sure she'll feel better with the extra fluid the vet will provide, I'm also happy to hear that the machine is working well and you're able to get some quilting done.
Yes the ridged increase part of the hat is actually from a waffle stitch video. It makes the ridges that form the waffles but it can also be used on other hats where you don't want just that flat and boring looking increase you usually have in a top down hat.I did crochet last evening but a lot of my time was used to untangle the huge mess inside my skein of RHSS ombre yarn. I've never had a skein of yarn that was as tangled inside. The pull thread was right there for center pull but then the huge lump made it's appearance. Took me a couple hours to straighten it out. I also pulled out a doll blanket because I made it too wide and wouldn't have had enough yarn to finish it. It's for the doll I'm planning on making things for and give to my infant granddaughter in a couple years when she's old enough to dress and undress dolls.
Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon, Ruth, I will nave to snoop around to find the ridged increase look that you are speaking about. It does sound pretty and I am glad you were able to master that. Well that stinks!!!! What stinks is the tangled mess you found in the ombré yarn. I have had that happen once or twice where I wondered what the heck I did wrong and why it was so impossible to untangle the mess. Funny, after all these years I wonder why they do not just have skeins that you work from the outside in…leaving the loose end lightly glued to the label. Wouldn’t that make sense? So very sweet that you are planning already to make things for your sweet little DGD. Guess you already know which doll you will be making the outfit and probably doll blanket for.
So, Ds and I spent some time cleaning up downstairs, which honestly really needed cleaning. It’s better than it was and I am glad that is pretty much done. I did also get some time in on the quilt, wish I had more time to work on that…but I have to go cat sit for a friend. Unfortunately that is not a 5 min job as I have to drive 15 minutes almost to get to her house. So I will be heading there soon.
My little kitty is improving…and because this morning she ate pretty well and really is acting like herself, I decided to wait on the fluids. She is acting very normal for her
Ok gotta go as I want to get this errand done before dark.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend…oh my pumpkin table runner pattern arrived today… something fun to look forward to, once I finish the baby quilt and start the temperature quilt

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today and having a nice weekend. It's a cloudy day here in the 60s. Ginny - I'm glad to hear your kitty is improving, I hope that continues. The pumpkin table runner pattern sounds like it will be pretty. Ruth - Hope you have been able to work on the doll quilt. It's great that you found a YouTube video with a technique you can use. isillyme - Hope you are getting to do some crafting this weekend. After I posted the other day that I was going to work on the Moda blocks I got another migraine (I've been getting several the last few weeks) so I didn't get to any quilting until today. I made the most recent block (picture below) and I put off making that one with 41 pieces because I don't have the energy for it right now. I'll save it and maybe make it later. I'm only going to need 25 block for my layout and there are 30 blocks in this round. I also tried a layout I'm thinking of using (mine will be 5 blocks across not the 3 blocks shown in the picture). I think the light blue fabric for the sashing will make the blocks stand out better and then I'll use the print fabric for cornerstones and the border. I think I'll make my sashing and cornerstones 2.5 inches, so this was just a test layout. I also updated my Temperature quilt and I'm just waiting for Monday to have the high temperature for tomorrow and then I can finish the first row. I tried out some crochet the other night using the granny stripe yarn, I just tried some rows of double crochet like for a scarf. But I was using an "M" hook and it didn't look good with that yarn, I need to use the recommended hook which is smaller. I just pulled out what I'd made - that is the nice thing about crochet it's easier to undo than ripping seams out. Take care

Hello all. It's a cold day today and we had rain earlier. It's dreary looking.
CJ, the blocks are very pretty and I love the colors, the patterned fabric and the blue. I can sure understand why you wouldn't want to work on a block with 42 pieces especially with the migraines on top of the issues in selling the house and land.
Ginny, I'm so happy that your kitty is feeling better. it sounds like she's well on her way to full recovery. Are you cat sitting at your house? I know you mentioned that that kitty's owner lives 15 minute from you. I'm glad your ds was able to help you with the cleaning.
Well this is a long story so ignore if you like. On Thurs, Fri, and today dh got notifications from Amazon that packages had been delivered. I went down to the mailbox yesterday and there was a key to one of the lockers but when I opened it the package inside was not for us and our packages weren't there. OUr bank of mailboxes and lockers are inside an open side shed and there's a dry erase board there so I left a message for the mail carrier. When I went down there today inside my mailbox was one piece of mail and that same locker key. My message was still on the board. I opened the locker and the same package that was there yesterday was still there and there still were no packages for us. So I decided to take the package that was in there to it's rightful owner and see if she had our packages. Well no one was home. I think we must have a new mail carrier who doesn't know what he or she is doing. I'll have to call the post office on Monday and see if I can find out where our three packages are. Luckily we were planning on going to that side of town and mailing something from there anyway so we'll see if our packages are there. What a pain.
I did get the two waffle stitch hats done and the one I did in the green apple colorway is beautiful. The other is in the fuschia color way and looks nice too but it's not my favorite color by any means. I'll be sending those two with the others I made to family. I think I'll get back to dd's blanket now. I did get the yarn order the other day.
