DebDoesWW, Thanks for making it clicky! Good to know others can still read it. Yes, the comments are good. WW should be interested in the feedback.

And I'm finding that the app has none of the recipes I've built online. If I have to build them all again I'm not going to be happy.

I first found out about this when I happened to login to FB. I rarely do that but I am mostly sitting in a recliner recovering from Covid rebound. Anyway, I belong to a couple of WW groups and they were all in talking about this.
I think their reaction bothered me more than WW doing this (and that bothered me a lot). The general consensus was that they only people who used the web browser didn't have a smartphone, found a smartphone too hard too use, were low vision, or were old and unable to understand how to use a smartphone. The general consensus was that everyone uses smartphone apps unless they just are incapable of doing so. They literally could not fathom a world in which one might prefer a computer. One person literally couldn't comprehend the idea of a desktop. She kept saying that smartphones are so much better than laptops.
It irritated me because it was just so, so...ignorant. I can understand someone preferring the WW app. I have no issue with that at all. But they literally could not comprehend someone choosing to use a computer. I am not computer illiterate. I bought my first desktop computer in 1988 before many of them were born. I use a custom made gaming computer with 3 monitors. I like being able to open up multiple windows. When I was tracking WW I often had one window open to create a new food and another open to search for foods. I liked doing that. I also like using a keyboard to write. Now, I have a keyboard that I can actually use to type on my phone. Occasionally I do that. But I spend several hours a day at my desktop computer and it is a waste of my time to leave the computer screen to type on a phone app!
I subscribed to Healthi for awhile but quit because I didn't like being app only (bluestacks didn't do it for me). On the WW app, I can use it. I used to use it when away from home. But I far prefer a real computer.
I have been on the fence about cancelling my $14.95 grandfather eTools. I am currently about 5 pounds over free weigh in. I kept the free eTools even though I don't follow WW points because I liked having access to know what WW is doing. Also I did consider at some point maybe going to a meeting in person or virtual. But I have lost over 20 pounds in the last year without doing that and just using my calorie counting. (For that I use MyNetDiary mostly on desktop but occasionally the app). This is honestly the last straw. There is just no coming back from this.
Oh - even though I am paying WW $14.95 a month I got no email from them. Figures.

Kitty, I'm sorry to hear about that kind of reaction from people. And I remember that you've discussed before that you're considering cancelling your WW membership. I certainly can understand why this would be the last straw for you. It took me a while of managing my weight using apps and websites other than WW to realize that I don't need it any more. It's mostly a sentimental attachment that I have to it now, and it was very freeing for me to realize that I could separate myself from it. I'm tracking now on MyFitnessPal. I use both the app and the website. They each have their advantages and disadvantages, so using both gives me mostly everything I need and the ease and convenience of use where it works best for me. I was actually coming here this morning to ask what trackers have both working websites and phone apps. As I said, MFP is one, and I've been using it on and off for years. I see from your post that MyNetDiary does too. Does anyone know of any others?

Kitty, I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I wonder, do these people who think that smartphones are the way to go use only smartphones at work? No computer or laptop? Some people actually said on that Reddit thread (mentioned on another post) that WW has to keep up with the times and the other plans out there, and that’s why they’re focusing on app only. To this I replied, “MyFitnessPal (and many other apps) have website tracking. “ I too am holding on to my 14.95 grandfathered lifetime over goal membership. I’ve keeping it mostly for the virtual workshops, which there are some great ones, but I do wonder if my money is best spent elsewhere. It’s tough, because I’m a lifetime member since the 90s and a long time WW advocate, but I just don’t agree with the direction that WW is going. The food plan is terrible. I, too use MyNetDiary for my calorie counting. I’m very happy with it, and the feedback and reporting the app provides. I have almost 100 pounds to lose, so I need something more than “Oh, keep doing what you’re doing… maybe try eating MORE zero point foods… etc.”. It’s way too vague of a program for paying members. Oh— there’s connect! So I can go on there for inspiration and instead am bombarded with posts of people posting pictures of their sick grandchildren and asking for prayers, etc. About you not getting that email- that just demonstrates how unreliable their company’s technology is.

Kitty, I'm sure Sima feels exactly as those critical people do.

susan092907, Sentimental attachment is really what I think it is. I have been paying WW $14.95 a month since 2019. But I haven't been attending meetings. We moved and I didn't love the meetings where we moved and then the got rid of the one coach that I liked. Then Covid. I can't make the newer programs work for me. I actually agree about WW prioritizing limiting added sugar and saturated fat. I do that myself. Last month my saturated fat was 6% of calories. Added sugar was about 5%. Those are great numbers. I am very careful on diet. But when I have occasionally gone in and calculated my points I am always way over points even though I lost over 20 pounds in the last year. I rationalized keeping the $14.95 a month eTools because it includes in person and virtual meetings. I've been to a few virtual meetings but haven't loved them. So keeping the $14.95 because I might want to go to an in person meeting or virtual meeting while I am over goal isn't really rational. I haven't done it in almost 5 years why would I start doing it now. I guess at some level I hoped WW would go to a sane program. But, honestly, calorie counting is going fine for me. I realized that I have now gone over 10 years with recording calories in either MFP or MyNetDairy. I am not going to suddenly stop doing that. I guess I have a nostalgic factor of wanting to know what WW is up to. But I can get free eTools if I weigh in at goal and I am only about 5 pounds from that. Oh - MyNetDairy has both app and website. I actually like the MyNetDairy app fairly well and do use it most days for some things. But it gives you more reports and stuff on the website and I like typing there. debinprogress, Yeah I can't get it with people being so disdainful of people using computers. When I was working in an office I might would have used an app during the work day. But at home I would use my computer. I think that a big issue is that many younger people do not own computers. They are smartphone only. They literally have nothing to compare the smartphone to. NatureLover, You are probably right about Sima. But, honestly, I think WW is just trying to save money here. It is harder to write full programs for an iOS app, an Android app, and a browser app. Many apps put the fuller features on the browser and the smartphone app is more for recording. You use the browser for reports and such. WW has lately had more features on the smartphone app. But, basically they are cutting costs here by not having to program a browser app. That is all this is. It is cost cutting plain and simple.

They getting some kind of instacart delivery integration and they need it to hook through the app, I think.

I have to agree with Kitty.... I get so mad at some of the comments people make!!! Just because you don't use the website, doesn't mean someone else doesn't. What these people need to realize is that the more WW gets rid of things.... the members that use those things will leave; at some point the whole program will be gone because of it. So where will that leave the know-it-alls??? Scrambling for a new app.
I saw a comment on FB that Lose-It website would no longer be in active development. You can still go there, sign up for free and use it....but it won't be updated. I wonder how much of it is working though. They do a feedback link on the site though; at least they are interested in whether or not you agree with them. How many more are going to follow?
I really liked adding recipes on the WW website instead of the app. It was so much easier!

What we know about WW they change frequently and shift directions apparently without a map. It is possible that they will return to the website, especially if/when a new CEO takes over.

NatureLover, That is interesting about LoseIt. It was one I tried out years ago. I paid for MyFitnessPal for several years. But then they deleted my data over 2 years old. Keeping that was part of why I paid for MFP. That kind of negligence was not acceptable so I jumped to MyNetDiary which I've used for about 3 years now. I use both the website and the app and like it a lot. The app actually can't do everything the website does but I am happy with it overall. Anyway, every year or so I go check out places and I felt that Lose It when I was checking last year was very dated interface. If I left MyNetDiary I would probably go to Chronometer which is one that is very popular now. jammytart, They could maybe bring by the website. I have the grandfathered eTools but I am giving them up. I don't follow WW right now and I am tired of paying $14.95 a month for nothing which is even more nothing with this change. I assume you may still be able to look up stuff on the website but can't enter data. This is just a last straw for me. I am honestly very pessimistic about WW surviving. Their best bet may be the work they do with third parties to provide services particularly for people taking medication. I am pessimistic about WW surviving. Why pay WWClinic $100 a month to basically write a prescription for you? My own doctor could that for me. Those kind of things where you charge a fee just to provide a prescription can work. It is used for transgender hormone care and for some psychiatric medicines. Those are areas where it can be hard to find a clinician. So the services do get prescriptions for some people who couldn't do it. But the weight loss are becoming commonly prescribed by PCPs so I don't see the attraction for paying WW to do it. And, honestly, I think most serious weight loss in future will be medication based. Sure the person who is normal BMI or very close to it might not be meds but those people are not WW's core market.

Kitty, regarding WW and meds and paying for Clinic, which used to be Sequence, from what I'm reading on Connect, there are still lots of people who can't get prescriptions from their primary care providers and maybe can't switch providers for other reasons. Clinic also provide consultations with dieticians, and they do all the work to find pharmacies that have the meds in stock. That seems to be a big help, because it looks like a lot of people spend a lot of time constantly calling around to pharmacies trying to track down the meds. Some people seem to use telehealth compounding pharmacies instead, but WW Clinic won't prescribe compounded meds. And one more thing that WW is providing is a tracker specifically designed for people taking weight loss medications. It tracks protein in grams, fruits and vegetables in servings, and water in cups, I think, but not points. But at some point, as you say, these medications will probably become more routine, and more providers will be prescribing them, and there won't be any need for Clinic/Sequence. And Kitty, I meant to tell you the other day after one of your posts - great job on being only 5 pounds above your weight goal now!
