Another MONDAY, MONDAY!
I can't believe I was AWOL most of last week -- oops!
CAIT -- Wow! That's a long time to depend on a generator. At least you were able to get a bigger/quieter one, and think how nice it will be to have steel poles when all is said and done.
KELLY -- I'm sorry about your ankle, but the treatment did help with the recovery! I've paid the price more than once for failing to treat sprains in a timely manner. Good job with walking and office organizing!
Re: Wuthering Heights. I could not finish it. I read over half and switched to an online chapter-by-chapter summary, which I also could not finish! I streamed the 1939 movie with Laurence Olivia and Merle Oberon, but it ENDED half-way through! Ha ha! One "EUREKA!" moment I had after I finished college was that I don't have to finish every book. I was reading Heart of Darkness (in an attempt to make up for my deficiencies) when I found a set of six --6-- nested quotations! "'"'"'someone said something '"'"'" WHAT? Really, it was a life-changing realization!
Tuesday -- laps, Wednesday, Friday, & today -- water class (stretching each time), and a 2-mile walk yesterday brings me to 33.5/250 miles 14/75 stretching Stretching: 2018:141; 2019:192; 2020:182; 2021:190; 2022:195; 2023:191 Jan:19; Feb:13; Mar:19; Apr: 14/30

Good Morning!! I added 3.07 miles yesterday. 2 mile WATP and 1.07 mile walk at lunch. Our new PA starts today, so we will be having a little luncheon. Subway tray and some snack foods. Cait: Good job on your good day and miles. Glad you are enjoying your time on your deck.
Carol: Good job on your your walking, swimming laps, and water class. I use to struggle with not being able to finish a book I started but a wiser friend once told me it was ok to not finish. I have had a few that I struggled to read, I listened to the audio boo

Good Morning, Challengers
Yesterday Mon I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 17 pts. We walked 2.2 mi before breakfast.
My “KISS” HHs (Keep it Simple and Specific) yesterday: - Do at least 10 mins of PT/ST: N - Avoid salted snacks: 💚 - No “seconds” with snack: 💚 - No eating out of a container: 💚 - Limit phone after 9 pm: 💚 - Evening: “Snack on Inspo”; Read prayers, quotes, whys and goals: 💚 - FFFE (Food-Free Fasting Evenings): 💚 - JGTB (Just Go To Bed) around 10 - 11 pm: 💚
We’ve seen and heard woodpeckers. One osprey sighting. DH saw two sets of rafters go by in mid-morning while he was finishing replacing the burned carpet tiles on the deck and installing a sort of baseboard all around. Today he saw a raft go by in the afternoon.
CAROL - GJ with the water class, laps, stretching and walking. It’s great you can get such all-around exercise. Re the Wuthering Heights dilemma - you went above and beyond with attempting the summaries and the movie. Re your EUREKA realization - I didn’t give in to the “I don’t want to finish this!” until a few years ago. I finally decided I’m too old to waste my time on a book I’m not enjoying. Up until then it was a mandate to finish what I start! Re the steel poles - we thought they were fiberglass because that was what we were told in Sept-Oct when this started. But a week or so ago they said they were steel. Today on our walk we spoke with one of the workers and he said they are replacing the fiberglass poles that were just installed with steel, as well as replacing the remaining wooden ones with steel 🤷🏻♀️.
KELLY - GFY with the 3.07 mi Mon. Yay for getting a new PA. Hope that works out well.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning!!
Yesterday was definitely not an OP day WW wise.
I did add 2.09 miles. 1 WATP mile and 1.09 mile walk at lunch.
I called the Ophthalmologist that I was to be referred to be seen and they never received the referral. When I called the office the person I spoke to could not find that I was to be referred anywhere. She did later call me back and said she found it and would fax it. The office was closed so I will call today. This condition is not something you should mess with if I truly have it. I told my coworkers who told me to go there I am very disappointed.
Cait: WTG on another good day. I love my walks at this time of year. Signs of new life.
Prayers for safe trip back south tomorrow.
Waving to all!! Happy walking!!

WEDNESDAY!
CAIT -- We have lots of woodpeckers, which we love to watch as they feed and peck. We have one that pecks on a metal piece on our chimney, and it reverberates into the living room; very weird! Good job with your HHs.
KELLY -- If I remember, there is a chance of open angle glaucoma. How disappointing that you had to follow up on your referral. I hope that, if it's verified, you will be referred to a top-notch glaucoma specialist. Fred has dealt with this for over 25 years (his developed when he was quite young), and a specialist is key. I believe your DH has glaucoma, so I know you're familiar with it. Good luck!
Tuesday I swam laps and today I went to water class, and I stretched both days in the pool.
37.5/250 miles 16/75 stretching Stretching: 2018:141; 2019:192; 2020:182; 2021:190; 2022:195; 2023:191 Jan:19; Feb:13; Mar:19; Apr: 16/30

Good Morning, Challengers
Yesterday Tues I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 18 pts.
Yesterday the power went out twice even though the generator kept running, but it came back on pretty quickly. Then again 3 times this am. DH thinks it’s from running the clothes dryer at the same time as the stove. Too much for the generator.
Last night the phone co was supposed to be working on something and they said there might be service interruptions until 5 am today. It’s also our only source for wifi and internet. But this am there was nothing. I drove to the PO where there’s free wifi and a pay phone, and talked to a couple of neighbors, but no service there either. Finally it came back on in the afternoon.
KELLY - GFY with the 2.09 mi yesterday despite the higher pts eating. It’s certainly upsetting and confidence-eroding when a Dr’s office doesn’t follow through on something important like this!
CAROL - GJ with the lap swim & stretching Tues and water class and stretching today. Wow that’s reassuring to know that type of glaucoma can be successfully treated over so many years!
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning!!
I added 2.65 miles yesterday. 1 mile WATP and 1.65 mile outdoor walk.
Well, called the ophthalmologist and they said they still did not receive the referral despite the eye doctor saying it was sent but they still were going to see me 1st that offered next week but I said hey I am having sx now that could be acute, so they offered today. I accepted but the more I thought about it I was not satisfied with that. I called Leroy's ophthalmologist and they saw me in less than 3 hours. I do have narrow angle glaucoma but I was not completely closed thankfully. The eye discomfort is from my allergies. I had to stop my daily antihistamine due to this diagnosis so the Flonase is helping some but not completely. I do have a message sent to the family doctor for some Singulair. I will be having some laser surgery Friday on the one eye and in 2 weeks on the other that puts a hole in my iris to allow for fluid to escape in case the vessel completely closes. Thankfully my symptoms were not acute but based on the symptoms I was having the Dr said you should be seen quickly. I had also completely forgot that the Ophthalmologist they referred me to is the reason Leroy lost his vision since he did not refer to a glaucoma specialist and tried to manage a severe case on his own. Another thing I found out was I would have paid a higher amount to see they as they are not in my Enhanced network. So, it all worked out for my good.
Carol: Good job on your laps, water class, and stretching. No I have narrow-angle glaucoma and Leroy has closed-angle glaucoma. Thankfully, I do not need a specialist at this time.
Cait: WTG on another good day. Sorry about the continued power and now phone and internet issues.
Waving to all!! Happy Walking!!

We were able to have lunch and dinner out on the deck and sat outside until it started getting dark 🤩. A nice way to say farewell to the cabin. Planning to return late May or early June when the girls plus 1 DSIL plan tk come up.
We left on time this am - DH was proud of me 😃. Now we’re S of Sacramento making good progress to our overnight layover hotel.
KELLY - GFY with the 2.65 mi Wed. I’m so glad you got in right away to see Leroy’s ophthalmologist! Isn’t it weird how we can forget even traumatic and upsetting events? That happened with me recently. We put it behind us and move on, which is good in many ways. But gotta hold on to the lessons!

Our contractor will finish while we’re gone. Not sure how well handle the tree removal. We have to be back up there by early June because DDs, DSIL, DGDs are coming to visit. 😍 This am I went to WW to do my end of month WI - weight was 149.4, up 2.2 lbs from end of March. Not sure why. I attended my weekly virtual WW workshop: “How to make grocery shopping easier.” You can now make a grocery list from the WW app - it gives you suggestions based on your preferences, and you can use it with instacart. One suggestion was to make a “don’t buy list” as well as a list of what you want to buy. www.weightwatchers.com/us/m/cms/make-grocery-shopping-easierBe well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other. SATURDAY!
CAIT -- glad your rehabbing is going so well. You will be so happy to have it all done when your family comes in June! Good job with your HHs, as usual. Glad the trip back south went well.
I swam laps yesterday (Friday) and stretched. I was going to visit my sister in the afternoon, but ended up in the basement during a severe tornado outbreak -- it even made the national news! Luckily, we and our families didn't have any damage, although one nephew was between two of the most violent tornadoes. He has three little girls, and I know their whole family was scared, of course!

Good Morning Challengers
Yesterday Sat I did all 6 of my main HHs, ate in my 💚 zone of pts. I had 3 meals, 0 snack, used 28 pts. We walked 2.7 mi, stoped at the Farmers Market and picked up lunch takeout.
We had lunch outside on the patio, although it was a little cool and breezy.
CAROL - Wow, I’m impressed you went to lap swim and stretch Fri despite the oncoming tornadoes - GFY! We were thinking about you and Fred - DH even asked me about you because he knows I have a friend in the area. So glad you don’t have damage. I’m assuming your nephew’s home is OK too. Where did they ride it out? What did your Sis’s care facility do during the danger? What kind of setup do you have in your basement? Did you lose power? I’ve never experienced a tornado. My Sis and her DH in MS had major damage to their dental office some years ago from a tornado.
Be well, and take care, for ourselves and for each other.

Good Morning!! So, the ophthalmologist that was to do the surgery said I did not need it. He said they are narrow but open and most likely I will eventually develop cataracts and the surgery for that will take care of both problems. He gave me his personal cell phone number if I would develop any emergency symptoms. I added 7.72 miles Thurs-Sun. Yesterday, after Church we went to Olive Garden and then to the movies to see Unsung Hero with some other couples from church. It was warm yesterday and today should get in the 80's today. Cait: Glad you had a safe journey back south. Carol: Good job on your workouts. Glad you were all safe during the tornadoes. Waving to all!! Happy Walking!!
