Good morning Ruth and CJ and all who are checking in… hard to believe that it’s another Monday… but here it is again the start of a week. And it’s income tax day, that is if you complete them on time. I know of someone who asks for extension after extension…every year and finally gets their return submitted sometime in the fall.
This site is acting wonky again….freezing up frequently. So I will start my day and call it quits. See you later!

Hello - Hope you are both having a good day The weather here was very warm and now some storms are coming through the area. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get some yardwork done and also some finished on the quilt. The lilac bush in my yard was almost gone, there were only a few branches left of it. I have several pictures for my memories, one of them is a picture of me and my mother when I was probably in 1st or 2nd grade Ruth - I hope that if you had any appointments today they went well. Also hope you could find out the results from your DH's test. I ran some errands today and then had lunch this afternoon with a few family members, since tomorrow is the birthday for one of them. We went to Applebees and the food was good and there weren't many people there - one of the nice things about being retired and eating in the mid-afternoon I sure hope I can motivate myself to get back to piecing those quilt blocks, I'm getting tired of seeing the fabric laying out on the table. Take care

CJ, I'm sorry to hear that you're having ear problems. It's a good idea to see an ENT and it wouldn't hurt to call their office to see when they can see you. If it's too far in the future then maybe see your PCP until you can get to the ENT.I hope all this with the ears and headaches goes away soon though.
Ginny, It's good to hear that you're getting the quilt close to being completed. I hope you're feeling better too.
We did go out and do our errands and weren't out very long actually. I may go out tomorrow or put it off till Wed. I'm thinking maybe Thurs for getting the oil change and yearly things.
I did work on the baby blanket last evening. It's a fun project but it's going to take awhile and my arm is still aching.

You know, I don't think this is a vintage pattern at all. I think they just changed the name. I've never made one but as I was working on this I realized it looked familiar so I checked. Yes, it's now called the Catherine's Wheel. Those people that called it vintage were wrong. There are a lot of patterns for it and some have slight differences but basically that's what it is.Among other sites, it's found on the Daisy Farm Craft site. I'm always surprised when I see their patterns because the person that started that blog has five children and now several grandchildren and most of her patterns have big spaces like this one. Most people I see talking about baby blankets, which this site specializes in, mention that they don't like baby blankets to have large open spaces so I'm surprised that these people make so many that do have large holes.

A long day here folks….but for the most part a decent one. got to take the little boys to the library for their music program.
Ruth, glad you got some errands done…and some crocheting also !! Like you, I tend to prefer baby afghans with smaller openings, although I cannot imagine a little one being hurt by a hand made afghan unless the holes were massive….
CJ- a very happy birthday to those relatives of yours that have birthdays!! I enjoy Applebees, what did you order? (Personally have not been in an Applebees since January of 2020….but I do enjoy their food. So good that you have pictures of the lilac with you and your mom…a sweet memory for sure. How are you feeling? Are the headaches still bothering you?
I did some straightening up downstairs (which badly needed it!!! ) will get back to that tomorrow and hopefully some quilting also. Night!!!

CJ, It's nice that you got to go to lunch or dinner with family. We no longer have an Appleby's here.. I hope you're getting your quilting joy back.
Ginny, I your Monday's are very busy so it's great that you were able to start Monday's dinner on Sunday. I hope you were able to get in some quilting today.
I did a bit of house cleaning and laundry today. I need to make an appointment to have my car serviced. I contacted two doctor offices today also in regard to dh's lab results but haven't heard anything back yet. I also made dh a carrot cake.
I heard yesterday that my neice's husband was just diagnosed with a rare but usually fatal skin cancer. It's so rare that, even though I was an oncology nurse, I have never heard of this cancer. If I did hear that's all it was. I never have run across anyone or heard of anyone that had it. I also heard that my brother who has prostate cancer has had an increase in his PSA but, although that does happen in people with prostate cancer it doesn't always mean that your cancer is now more serious. He's had that cancer for awhile but his doctor had him on a wait and see.

Ruth, I hope that your brother is ok….and as you well know, most men do not die from prostate cancer… I will pray for him that he gets good treatment or treatment that is appropriate for him. How very sad about your niece’s husband… I will add him to my prayers and her too. Do they have any children?
CJ- hope your day went well.
Busy day… and I am not enjoying allergy season. Keeping it under control…but I still know my tree allergy is there..

Thank you Ginny. Yes I definitely think he will not die of prostate cancer. Now my neice's husband a different story. This is a very aggressive cancer and the average life expectancy after diagnosis even with treatment is about 3-4 years. He is not a pleasant person and I imagine living with him for those last few years will be hard on my niece in many ways. They have two sons but both are adults.Thank you for your prayers for all of those involved.
I'm sorry that your allergies are acting up. This is sure a bad time of year for you and others that have pollen allergies. I guess you need to move out here. We don't have much pollen at all.
CJ, I hope you're having a good day.

Good morning!!
Ruth have you had any luck hearing back about Dh’s blood test results? So frustrating indeed waiting for what seems to be forever for them to provide the lab work. Hope that you have no trouble getting the car service appointment for when you want it and can make it work with your other errands. I bet DH enjoyed that carrot cake!! It must be his favorite- you make it with some frequency.
CJ- hoping that you are making some progress on the house sale…. It will be all worth it when it’s over with, but so frustrating and emotionally draining .
Got some errands to run later on, and I did get some housework done this morning. I can see that I need to freshen up the paint in the one room, I do have the paint here, so it’s just up to me getting off my lazy back side.

Good morning all
Ginny you are far from having a lazy backside or any other body part. I always wonder where you find time to do all that you do. You are a busy person
I'm glad I didn't make the car service appointment for today. Yesterday it got warmer than was forecast, today, once again, the dreaded four letter word...snow.I doubt that I'll take the car this week. No I haven't heard anything about the lab results even though I contacted both those doctor offices. It's frustrating. They have a patient portal. All they have to do is put them on there.

Well at least one doctor's office contacted us. The spine surgeon's office said they would contact our PCP to find out his blood results and determine if there is any that would result in surgery cancellation.

Hello Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about the medical problems with your family members. I'm glad that you were able to hear back from one doctor's office. Sorry about the snow, hope you can get the car taken in next week. Ginny - I agree with Ruth that you are one of the least lazy people I've ever known! I get tired sometimes just reading about all the things you do in a day The weather here has been pretty nice and very warm for a few days, I think it's back to the 60s now but even that is nice. I went to my house today to check on things. I had a dream last night that someone had driven into the fence again and knocked it down, but it was just a dream. I also set up someone to cut the grass next week, I just couldn't put it off any longer. I hope the company is reliable, I've never used them before. I'm hoping I just have to do one cut and maybe the house will sell before another cut in May. Still haven't heard from any of the house buying people even though I've sent emails and left messages I made a few quick quilt blocks yesterday just for a fun table runner. I also saw a block for an umbrella and I'd like to make one block for a cute pillow for April (for the April showers). I found some fabric to use for that and have it ready to starch and then I can cut it. I hate falling behind on the Moda Blockheads blocks, but I don't have the concentration for them right now. Maybe I'll catch up eventually. And I need to get my April Temperature blocks started. modafabrics.com/inspiration-resources/bh5-group-2-block-16-joanna-figueroaHope you all get to do some crafting. Take care

CJ- good to see you here!! That Moda block is awfully pretty- I am sure i made something very similar for the BOM I made a few years ago. Star in a star… so nice. Gee while you are getting started on your April temperature blocks…care to start mine? I have shared with you the fear I had with my mom’s house that one of the huge trees on her property would fall while I was not watching the place on a daily basis…that and the fear that someone driving into the fence at your house is the basis of a good (0r not so good) nightmare. I feel for you and do really hope that all your phone calls and emails work and that the transaction is completed in a few weeks. Good to hear that you made a fun table runner, which I hope you will enjoy using! Hey, did you ever get the mantle of your home decorated? I know you had discussed that a few months ago. An April showers pillow sounds adorable and a fun way to decorate too! Would you consider making that with an envelope back so you can change pillow covers with the seasons?
Ruth, well absolutely a good call to wait to get the car serviced after the snow is over with. This time of year, I doubt that any snow would stay around long. I am SO thankful that the spine surgeon is willing to take on getting the blood results for Dh, so they can evaluate the results and make sure he is safe for the procedure. Yes it would be SO helpful if the lab results were put in the patient portal. Gee, isnt that what a patient portal is for?? Did you finish DD’s afghan?
Busy day….and I was gone most of the day. No crafting but I did just call Joanns and my machine is back! So tomorrow I will take the loaner machine back tomorrow and pick mine up. They say they found nothing wrong with it. CIndy said she would try it out tomorrow before I pick it up from her. So my crafting for tonight will be to take the loaner to my car in preparation for tomorrow.
Do either of you have issues with this site jumping a bit as you type? This is the only site I have this trouble on and sometimes its just fine, other times I become very frustrated with it.

Well, Ginny, I sure hope your machine is working as it should. I hope you have all your errands taken care of now so that you can maybe get some rest in the next few days. I did get dd's afghan done.Today is her birthday but even without snow I wasn't thinking of going over there. I'll probably stop there when I take my car because both are on that other side of town
CJ, that is a very pretty block. I'm not overly fond of that shade of green she used but the star is really nice. It has to be so frustrating to not hear back from those home buying people. I'd be a wreck. The April showers sounds like a fun project
I did crochet some and will do more this evening.
