I was going to post that I'd bet that you, Meg, have used dp's a lot but I guess that's not true.
I'm glad there was a second set of keys to your car so that you were able to get in. A few years ago I knitted a while bunch of hats using the circular needles and they came out great. Now I just can't seem to get back the hang of doing it.
Worked a little on my blanket but then did some cooking. I made the cheesecake that I was going to make the other day and while I did that and cleaned up the kitchen dh defrosted our non frost free refrigerator and vacuumed so we got a lot done. We also worked together on dinner. So now before sleep I'll work on the blanket some more. I was surprised at how long it's taking me but it is going to be 21 inches square. I need to make two more and then I'll decide what to make next. They really don't need to be done until the end of August when I'll send youngest dgd's birthday presents. I'll just send everything at once.
I'll see you ladies tomorrow. I hope you all have pleasant dreams and get a good rest

hello, well I got the dpn's going. I watched you tube.so may different ways.
I think part of our problem with eating is we're from the old school finish your plate. kids In china are hungry. like what we didn't eat would help them? lol we always feel like we need to snack at night.
one thing becki talked about today was how some members are so obessed with being on point and losing every week they can't enjoy life around them. they go to places where there is food and won't eat if they can't/have see what is on program.
wi today. up .06. not bad for a night at the campgrounds and a holiday week.
we should not let guilty feelings get in our way if we eat something we shouldn't. only makes us feel worse. that is old school thinking coming in. how many diet programs have we been on in our lives where if we gained it was a big sin? we are going to have weeks of losess and gains. just don't let the numbers on the scale throw you. we have people all around us who are going through alot worse things in their live then weight. the scale is only a small part of our lives,. it does not dectrate who we really are..
I haven't done anything I was going to do today. phyl

Good morning Phyl, CJ, Meg, and Ginny.
Phyl, I'm glad you got the dp's figured out. And you are so right about weight loss. The scale should not rule. And we should enjoy life. I do think we need to find a way to enjoy it other than making eating our "god" but eating is always a part of all our celebrations and we should enjoy but with control. Many times food is filling some other need in our life.
I got blanket #1 done last nightand started #2. I've found that weaving the ends in immediately is the best way to go and I'm going to try to keep doing that.I'n not sure I like the stitch I'm using for this second blanket too much but I think I will continue with it. It's the extended single crochet. It's going to be a smaller blanket intended for dgs to use for his stuffed animal. Then on to the other blankets for the other two girls.I think one will be a large granny square and the other a v stitch maybe. I have to get some real baby things in here somewhere. I may start a pair of booties today between working on the blanket.Finishing of things maybe will wait.
I do want to finish two afgans because they're taking up too much space in my craft room. One is a bunch of squares in a nice beige color that was given to me and all they need is to be put together and the person also provided the yarn and hook to use to connect the squares. I have a really large cushion that's the same color and both will go well with the colors in my living room. The other is a large granny square afgan that I started years ago. It uses bulky yarn. I'm not sure what size hook I used so will trial a couple to see if I can determine that
Have a fantastic day all!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Thanks for all your thoughts on weight loss and issues dealing with food. I've been so strict with myself for over 2 years that I think sometimes that's why I have these out of control days. I'm trying to "allow" myself to have food that I consider a treat every once in awhile and not worry about it. Food is a pleasure in life and I don't want to deprive myself completely. Meg - I'm glad you found your keys and it sounds like your blanket is coming along well. Ruth - You sound busy with your blanket and also some cooking and cleaning. Phyl - Glad you got the DPNs working. Ginny - Hope you are doing well No crafting for me today, I went grocery shopping and took care of some errands. I hope to get to something this weekend. Take care everyone!

Good morning!
Finally a few minutes to myself to say hello....
Phyl- YouTube is wonderful as we all know. So happy to hear that you figured out those dpn's and are able to work with them now. I do appreciate that you passed on comments from your leader. I do not attend meetings any more, and its nice to get a leaders perspective sometimes. You and she are absolutely correct, some stress over the scale so much that they lose their perspective, becoming slaves to the scale and program. Don't sweat the small gain...get your focus back for next week.
CJ- it always seemed tome that you have a good handle on balancing program and the real world. I well remember your posts about a desert that you liked, and I thought you handled enjoying that desert and program very well. Bet that feels great getting your crafting room all cleaned up.
Ruth, I have never heard of the extended single crochet, guess I will have to check it out. What is it that you do not like about it, its appearance or how the stitch is to work with? We often start these projects with super high hopes....and then when they take up too much room in our crafting area its a challenge to get rid of them. That beige afghan sounds lovely....except that you are left with the not so much fun part of connecting the squares.
Meg- so glad you got your keys!!
Had a very nice evening last night with my Dds. Got back way too late and I am tired. And had one of those off program nights, so have to get back on the wagon today. Got a million things to do today and am completely lacking the energy or the drive to do much of anything.
Have a good day! Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your night our with your daughters. Now that I've done a few rows with this extended single crochet I do like it better but I'm putting in rows of v stitch to make some variety in the total pattern of the blanket. All you do to make one is put your hook thru the stitch like you would do any single crochet but then instead of yarn over and go thru the two loops on the hook you do yarn over and thru one loop, yarn over and go thru the second loop. I made one of the dgds a purse with this stitch.
I didn't get much done on the blanket yesterday. I hope to finish it today but have a few things to do before sitting down to do it.
Phyl, yes a small gain is not unusual esp on a holiday week. I know you'll get back on track.
Hello to Meg and CJ. CJ congrats on getting your craft room organized. I need to work on mine some more..Meg, have a nice peaceful weekend
Ginny, yes the squares were all made by the previous owner but the joining is the bad part but I can't complain. Someone did all those squares that must have become boring after awhile because they're all the same. Now I want to plan how to join so that the joining looks as nice as the squares.I often wonder what happened that the afgan was never completed. My granny squares one that I mentioned will be easy to finish because it's just one big square ..no joining needed.
See you all later

hi, the house is cleaned and I spent the afternoon in my playpen. worked on one of the charity quilts I have. quilting it. then one more to go. ready to start on my own stuff. sure hope the lord blesses me for my time and effort.
here is something interesting a friend sent me. wwwsmartbmicalculator.com fill out the questions. for me it said I am not obese just overweight. also at my age losing weight is not as important as in the younger years.it is more more about a healthy diet and maintaining. when I put In my goal weight it said just go for 9 pounds now. (I had put 145) never will make it.. also said more. I will have to do it again. ok we all know it is better to have a little weight on then to skinny as we get older. try it for fun.
there are a lot of us including ww members who think ww and insurance companies need to change their weight charts..
I Just have otfinish the top of the hat. might go for booties. phyl

Good morning, Ginny, Ruth, cj, & Phyl.
I have had computer problems. My mouse wouldn't work so we bought a new one yesterday. Then the key board wouldn't work but this morning it is working. So I guess I am back in business. It has been very hot here and I expect that it will be a scorcher again today. I had to go to the store yesterday and today I will stay home as I don't enjoy the heat.
I have been reading all your posts and trying to cat up. I haven't worked on my b/blanket since Friday. I did see a couple of new crochet stitches on UTube that I might like to try. so I guess that counts as crafting. The 2 stitches I want to try are, the Marshmallow stitch and the Bean stitch.
Now I have to let Devin have turn on the computer. I am finishing up a book so after I do my chores that's what I'll do finish my book.
Have a good day. I will check back later.

Meg, I'm glad you got your computer problems taken care of. We missed you.
Hot here today too. I bet it will be close to 100.
I ordered a rotary cutter blade online so I hope it works ok. It's to cut holes around the edges of fleece to that you can crochet an edging.I have a lot of fleece and will make edgings on it and give the blankets to the great grandbabies. I saw a nice edging today that is supposed to be elephants on parade and does look a little like elephants. I will also make some with other edgings to donate.Single layer fleece is not all that warm but I can put two layers together then crochet around the edge of both and it will make a nice cuddly blanket and will also be warmer than the single layer.I may even make one for dh.Gotta use up some of this stuff. The fleece is taking up a lot of room.
Phyl, I went to the site. Couldn't click on it because it needs a dot after the www but once I figured that out it worked. Good info there, Is that a picture of a quilt you made...the one on your avatar? It's beautiful

no I have never made a wedding ring quilt. when I first started quilting I thought it would be hard. now they have come out with easier ways to do a wedding ring quilt. you don't want to be in a hurry when you do that one.
we did some bumin today. when we left the folk festival we could not figure out why traffic was backed up maybe for 3 miles going in to town. we were going in a different direction. when we got to the lights traffic was coming out of our township and backed up. going over the interstate over pass we could see police cars, a fire truck below. looked like the police was doing some measuring. the ambulance was probably there before we got to he overpass. people we standing on the overpass looking down. please say prayers I have a feeling this is bad. two tv stations were there with cameras.
carey went to wasua to get hr kids. jeana told don carey got home just in time before they blocked the interstate off. phyl

Good evening!
Ruth, are you planning on joining all the squares in the same direction or alternating orientation to give it a different look? Indeed putting that together might be a challenge, whether you decide to crochet them together or sew (like a whipstitch) together. I find neutral color schemes pretty....and monochromatic can be dramatic, if the stitch if pretty. I am sure you wil do it justice and it will turn out great. How many squares do you have to put together- and what size are they?
CJ- I checked out your fabrics - what a bright cheery color scheme! The brick layout will set off the cheery colors well...hey perhaps when you get that smart phone going you can take pics of your work and get it posted here! I got my first IPhone last fall and love it for the ease of doing stuff like that.
Meg,well,, I have never heard of the bean stitch or the marshmallow stitch. I am lucky I get single and double crochet done! Of course learning new stitches is crafting. If not so how could we ever take on new projects ? I keep on hearing about heat in your part of the country and hope that it breaks soon. I dislike the heat too.
Phyl- well thanks for posting that BMI calculator. It said the same thing for me, in that I am just fat- and actually said I was ok staying at my present weight- but to keep active and make good food choices. Now to me, that is silly- I do need to lose weight, but I doubt anyone would look at me and say I am obese. GUess I would be happy if i lost 20 #- which would still have me in the high end of my weight range. I know from when I was a younger woman that the "lowest" weight for me it not healthy and is pretty hard for me to maintain. By the way, did you make that gorgeous double wedding ring quilt that is now your avatar?
I have indeed gotten some embroidery done. Now have to get my stuff together for the class on Tuesday. THey sent me an email with the supply list, and I will have to pick up several items at the quilt shop. They are VERY fussy about the recommended supplies. Fortunately, I have a gift card and will be able to use that to buy what I need.
Hope everyone has a great evening. Happy Crafting Ginny
