Joan - the post from you and the one from Annette are just now showing up for me. They weren't there this morning. Odd - huh!?

I think it is acting a bit funky, JoAnne cause honestly losing those two posts was bizarrae---especially the last one which I know I hit the write button to send it to the site.
Managed to get to yoga after Jordan's appt but did not get to the college to pay his fee---will do that later this week--he had a long appt--got all the rest of the braces so he will be hurting today and tomorrow.
DD's birthday today---had hoped to have her to dinner but her friend asked her over first--now she texted us to see if we wanted to come over but this friend is sort of different and neither DH nor I really want to go--plus we get to pickup Tanzi and really don't want to leave the cats tonight---vet called---said they cannot be together for at least two weeks---OMG DH was nnot very happy to hear that but It think all his efforts to have them try encounters created total stress. Maybe after they are both on meds and she on this new drug they can get to a place where they get along well again--that will be after Aug 5 cause we will be at beach for a week---Sidney is not going to be a happy camper about this.

Hi!
Getting humid here. Not much going on, I've been doing some research into pop up dinners. That is something one of my teachers suggested. But I think it's difficult to do so here with all the certifications and licenses/inspections here in the city.
Joan, I hope Tanzi gets better! Thanks for the update on Valerie I'm so sorry about DGS16, it does seem to have degenerated so quickly! Wasn't he friends with Jordan?
Annette, glad you are enjoying your vacation.
Jojo, good job on the all the walking!
I haven't had any problems with posting here...
Off to the gym.

Hi all,
Productive week back at work. The summer is going too fast.
I have been trying to think of some things non library related to do after work and on weekends. I'm at my best when I work on projects and am working towards a goal.
Sue, what kind of place would you use for pop up dinners? It would be neat if someone did something like that here just to have something different to try. We don't even have a fine dining restaurant here anymore. The one we had only does private parties now.
Joan, I hope things get better with Tanzi and Sidney.

Today I worked hard and fast before gym at 9:30—did pilates and yoga today and then took Jordan for his first physical since getting medicaid—-so glad, we found a great little clinic that takes kids till age18—-when we got there it was so funny cause the guy who I had scheduled with and who called Justin to confirm the appt was a guy Justin knew from working together at a sushi place before—he knew this guy also worked at a clinic but did not know where. Two of the guys working there were both Asian and I know that may sound crazy but I know it made Justin and Jordan feel good about being there. He got the shot I wanted him to have but turned out he had been to a doctor once before— his dad actually took him when he was about 13 and Jordan didn’t realize it but he had the first shot—so today was the booster and now he is done. Also had the meningitis booster which was overdue. They gave him a ref. For a basic panel blood test which Justin will take him for soon.
Jordan did a really nice favor—he called DGS16 and told him if he would go to family beach week Jordan would accept my invite to go again—OMG, DGS agreed to go—and then actually texted his mom that he decided to go because it might be good for her and him. I had told Jordan that he might not go as he had sort of cut off contact with us—I did not ask him to do this but I love that he immediately texted me this afternoon and told me what he did and that he would like to go.
Yesterday took salmon patties over to friend who broke her leg so badly. Then made halibut tacos for DD’s b’day dinner—but she is so sick she had to go home and couldn’t eat—we kept DGS13 and his friend for dinner and then taught them how to play a game called Marble Pursuit or Joker—-it is what we play with our friends. They loved it.
Meds are distressing Tanzi a lot—-she is eating better—-not perfect but still better. She spent some time out in the great room and actually walked around. Still staying separate.
Had our salmon patties tonight—-yum, am going to have one for breakfast tomorrow! Today I had a halibut taco for breakfast and it was yummy, too. DH thinks I’m loony! LOL
Wish we could borrow some of your rain, JoAnne!
So, Holly, did you find a project for home? Do you have your new desk yet?
Sue, I told Molly about you—she said because she is under 16 (13) she is not allowed to go anywhere without the adult chaperone and other girls in her suite—but she said if I were here she would love to go to a vegetarian restaurant you pick out and have some good food—had to laugh—-told her you would know where we could go! I had hoped to go for a weekend but with the cat problems just cannot leave. Beach week we are paying a lot for a cat sitter who used to be a vet tech and will administer meds confidently. She will come over the 22 and meet the cats and get written directions for feeding etc.

Hi!
Rainy days here now.
Holly, the options are doing pop ups in your own house or rent some place, like a restaurant on their off days. But then there's advertising, social media, etc. stuff that I hate!
Joan, Jordan sounds like such a great boy. Why did he and your DGS lose touch? I thought they hung out together a lot. One of the best vegan restaurants in the country is here, Vedge. They also have some more casual, not as expensive restaurants in the city. There are also many other vegeterian options here.
Just puttering around today, household chores, food prep, gym later. Watching Wimbleton. I'm rooting for Venus in the finals! and Federer
Yesterday was with my parents, took them to buy a new lazyboy for my dad. So funny, the young saleswoman all of a sudden responded to things that my parents were saying to each in chinese, she actually spent 18 months in China learning the language. She was so cute

Hi all,
I'll probably go to the Farmer's Market in a little bit and the coffee shop to work on some stuff. I need to find some new clothes, particularly basic tops to wear to work.
Joan, I am joining a local charity organization that does a number of projects throughout the year. I'm also thinking about selling some of my knitted pieces in the new store for crafters that will be opening up this fall. They're looking for handmade items to sell.
Sue, social media and advertising can be a pain. I only use Facebook these days because that's where the local businesses announce their events.

Holly, I went to JJill after lunch and bought a cute top, pair of cropped navy pants on sale and a very light weight hoodie--loose fit---it was 25% off of total order so saved a lot since one thing was regular price.
Had a long long lunch with my teacher friend---3 hours=---caprese salad and then DH wanted to hit paneras so I tried their new watermelon feta salad (half) and oh my, it was very good.
Going to kickboxing today which will really kick me in the butt cause I am exhausted---finally was able to sleep soundly and slept through my alarm at 6 even---so here at 7 I have only an hour to have coffee and some breakfast. Will probably have another salmon patty. Maybe I will perk up once I do that...
I was down again yesterday--am 3.9 away from goal--the goal my dr. Set for WW--I am going to keep this up and get down in the 130's--I felt best at about 134-I just don;t think I would look good any thinner as all my skin would be sagging big time. But I am getting a vision of getting back there---already there are so many things in my closet that I can wear again---wore a shirt that just was way too tight before yesterday---OMG it felt so good! My Fitness Pal is really my tool--no judgement , no jury, just put the items in get the numbers out and look at the nutrition chart. I feel empowered by this compared to when I went to WW--WW works for me but I still don't feel strong--I feel dependent on the group and the threat of the "sort of public" record on the scale. This time I feel as though I totally own this. I like it--guess you can tell.

Hi!
Not much going on here. After a couple of months of social things it's been a calm week. Just doing the usual household stuff, gym.
A couple days ago our condo manager contacted SO about displaying his art in a kind of display space we have at the front of our condo. It's a tiny window front space just for display. So we've been debating which paintings, etc, etc. He hung 5 up yesterday. Looks good! All these years, we have gotten various art galleries to put their paintings in for free, but now a lot of galleries have closed and also they are wanting some money to do the displays.
Holly, charity work is a good idea.
Joan, good buys at JJill Great job on the weight loss! Fitness Pal sounds like it's perfect for you.
I'm not doing to well on the losing front...still 125. I know I'm eating too much carbs, although I have cut down. The difference when I was on vacation was that my dinners were so satisfying with multiple courses/flavors that I didn't need carbs to feel sated. I have to figure out a way to feel the same without the carbs short of spending all my time cooking multiple courses!

Sue, probably the biggest change in nutrition with MFP for me is that I am having to work at getting enough fats to balance my pie chart out---and I think having more olive oil, etc., gives longer satisfaction--also I have sometimes not had enough carbs and have to add in a slice of bread or a whole wheat tortilla or a carby fruit---anyway in many ways I think I am eating more food than before. But I am having pretty minimal sugar---occasionally have something sweet but track it right away---and I am making sure I don't go over on calories however I do eat the calories I earned working out---I think every time I worked out a lot I was not eating enough because it is working better for me doing this.

Staying at 118 and happy with that. I'm sure the walking helps.
Everyone else seems to know, except me, "what are pop up dinners"?
Holly the charity store for your knitting is great idea! t Had the kids this weekend - fun time with wading pool and going to Chuck E Cheese! Then to a nice fish market restaurant with all the family.
Going to movie with DH tonight.

Hi!
I got a new phone yesterday, Galaxy s8. My old one was s5. I've been trying to get used to it. Spent an hour and half yesterday at Verizon, the guy was very helpful, but the system is sooooo slow. Transferred all my info from old phone. I still have the old phone as back up.
Joan, you're doing so well with your tracking. I'm just not ready to track yet...when I did it before it was all consuming and ended up backfiring on me. Went on sugar binge for months, which is so not me and gained.
Jojo, you're also doing well with staying at 118! What movie did you see the other day?
Housekeeper came this morning, so got my exercise out of the way. Going to make some scallion pancakes shortly.

Good morning--or early afternoon here I guess! Sue, that is why I like the My Fitness Pal tracker---I am shooting for having the nutritional value of my day on target--if I have a high sugar item and track it, it warns me what my grams of sugar goal is for the day--but I really have felt good and not deprived because I have had controlled amounts occasionally--I think it is helping me to eat mindfully as well--trying to really pay attention to my food when I have it and enjoy the moment. Halibut taco today for lunch with watermelon and a bit of guacamole. Tonight am having a romaine salad with a bit of leftover grilled chicken and a cup of my watermelon gazpacho I made yesterday---OMG, I love it so much. Grilling a bit of zuchinni again as well.
Did pilates and yoga this morning--another friend from my former yoga class came and joi8ned us today--the new teacher is so terrible no one is going.
I want us to go see The Big Sick this weekend--it is so good--DD and her DH just loved it and so did my present gym teacher. I too wondered what you saw JoAnne.
I picked some really large beefdsteak tomatoes today---they are just amazing.
My former sch.counselors DH is number one on the kidney transplant list after a 2 year wait---they are so excited about potentially getting a life back.. Life on dialysis is tough.
BF is back from canada so have to call her today--we usually talk a bit every day. She will be sad to have left the cooler weather of BC.

Hi all,
It definitely feels like July here with the weather being in the high 90s.
I have an appointment with the cardiologist on Friday for my BP. It's still pretty erratic.
Sue, when I tracked, it became all consuming and had the opposite effect.
Joan, Canada is wonderful. Hope to see the western part someday. Everyone was so friendly.
