Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm anxious to hear about your class, hope it was great. I have an inexpensive Brother Sewing machine that I really like. I get the urge to buy a nicer expensive machine from time to time, but I really wouldn't use half of the features on it, so I keep resisting the urge. Ruth - Glad you got your shopping done before it got too hot. I always enjoy reading about your projects Meg and Phyl - Hope you are getting some crafting in. I talked to my sister-in-law today about her quilts, so I'm counting that as some crafting The green beans turned out good, they were nice and tender and not stringy. I have enough to eat for a few days. My father loved lima beans and I cooked them for him, but I never liked them. It's supposed to be in the 90s here all week, we'll have one day in the 80s on Saturday and then back in the 90s again. I just try to stay in the house with the blinds and curtains drawn to keep out as much of the heat as I can. It's 93 degrees here right now, with a heat index of 102 degrees, and this isn't even going to be the hottest day this week! Take care everyone.

Class was awesome, and I love the table runner. I am presently wasting a ton of time trying to get it to show up here or be my avatar.
CJ- chatting with your sister in law absolutely counts as crafting! Glad you do not have to cook much, and I feel awful that it is so hot in your area.

CJ, I'm glad to hear the green beans and ham turned out good because they sounded so good. It's supposed to be in 90's here all week, except tomorrow when high is to be 88, but we have no humidity so when it's 93 it feels like 93.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you liked the class. I forgot it was a table runner that you were working on. Was it an all day class? Is this the only class or is it a series of classes? I'd love to see a picture if you're able to post one or send me in email. And yes, I'm in on that too that talking to your dsil counts as crafting. I'll probably do come crocheting later but I can count buying yarn as crafting haha. Yep, bought some more. There are a couple colors I needed. I guess they don't make the one anymore which is the one I made dgd one fingerless glove with so I hope I have enough to make the second glove. If not I guess I'll just make a while new pair. I also needed some for other projects. They sure had some nice colors in simply soft but I didn't get any.I have to use up what I have
We went out again today. Dh has to get his driver's license renewed so we were planning on going tomorrow since it will be below 90 and found that his birth certificate was in the safe deposit box at the bank. So we went out and took care of some business at another bank, went to the one where the sd box is and they were closed until 1pm so we went to Walmart which is near. Back to the bank and decided to get a new sd box since we lost one of the keys and want to have two. I was told on two different occaisions that I couldn't just get anohter key that I would have to get a while new box dh wasn't with me then so I coulldn't do it then. So today she said, oh I can call the locksmith and set up an appointment and he can come in a make another key and she said we would have to be there when he was there so I told her I'll just take a new box So that's what we did and it took forever but that was fine. Dh didn't want to go to the license renewal today anyway. It's "parade day" here today. Every year on the day the county fair opens they have a parade and everything closes and people drink like fish so we didn't want to have to drive to the other side of town with all the drunks out. That's why the bank was closed till 1 so their employees could go to the parade. The other bank didn't close for it though. So anyway, two days in a row out and tomorrow too so very unusual for us.
I hope all of you have a relaxing and enjoyable evening.

Ruth, what a rigamarol you went through with the safety deposit box. But at least it is resolved. I had a similar saga with my mom's- which was also just a boatload of red tape. So much red tape in fact that I closed the thing out! (It was also not in a practical location for me- an hours drive from my house.). It's a nice tradition that there is a parade on the opening day of the fair....of course not a good tradition that they drink so much.
Anyone who wants me to send a pic of the table runner, please let me know. Ruth, I already sent a copy to you.....Had a lot of fun in the class and I am happy with the result. Now if I could only figure a way to post a picture here!! Ginny

Hello, Ginny, Ruth, cj & Phyl.
Just a quick post before I go to bed. I had a busy morning. I had my 1st iron infusion this morning. I have 4more to go. I just get so tired. I am going to have an upper GI test to see if I have sprung a leak which caused the problem before. I still have to schedule the appointment for that. I have so many medical appointments coming up. I did see my Fr. this morning I was so tired when I got home I had to take a nap.
I have not done any crafting to day. Hopefully tomorrow. I wish you all a good night.

Meg,good to see you. I'm sorry you're feeling so tired all the time. I hope the iron helps.
I did a very small amount of crafting today. I finished the little stuffed animal blanket but I'm not happy with it. I used the Lion pound of love in blue and wanted another color so used the same Lion pound of love but in white and the white was much thicker than the blue so it really made the blanket uneven. But it's only for a stuffed animal so it will be ok but I hate having things turn out like that. I had changed to the same v stitch so that it would be even because I thought that was the problem but it wasn't. You can tell that the white v's are much thicker so when I looked at the actual yarn I could see then that the white is thicker than the blue. So I guess on the other two blankets if I want to add white I'll have to just use it for the edging. It did work ok with the yellow so the yellow must be as thick as the white and now that I think about it the blue might not actually be pound of love although I'm pretty sure it is. It was wound into a ball and no labela but I think I remember it was the pound of love that collapsed and tangled and that's why I wouldn't it into a ball. I do have a couple caron one pound but I don't think that the blue is one of them and the white is definitely Lion pound of Love...it has a label.
So what do you all have planned for tomorrow? Dh and I aren't going to renew his license tomorrow after all. We do have a month but we'll go soon. I hope he passes the eye test. If not we'll make a quick eye appointment for him and they'll fax the motor vehicle place that he got a new prescription but here I think you pretty much have to be completely blind before you can fail that eye test
See you all tomorrow

Good morning, Meg, I will be praying for you that you can quickly feel better and that all tests come out fine- or with an easy to fix answer. You are very used to a lot of activity, so being tired a lot must be frustrating for you. Again, know that I am praying for you and hope that your energy returns soon.
Ruth, what a saga with the yarn. That baby blanket I made in early winter had yarn issues like that. What I find frustrating is that yarn should just be yarn.... make standard weights and do not reinvent the wheel. All these variations make it torture for us to use up leftover yarn or partial skeins as you are trying to do. I am sure that the stuffed animal blanket looks fine- absolutely good enough for a stuffed animal. Gee, cannot imagine why you would not be anxious to go visit motor vehicle and get Dh's license straightened out! Ha ha ha. All in good time, and it does sound like you have a good plan if he needs corrective lenses.
Dh (who is a bit grumpy today) and I are heading over to Dd#1 to help out with some house issues....its going to be a few more months before they have most of the house as functional as they like. I will either be washing windows or helping with the kids. It's very hot here today and humid. Tomorrow worse. Last night I did clip the seams on the table runner and get it pressed. Hopefully today I can hand sew the opening closed and quilt the top. They are recommending just a simple diagonal top stitch to keep it neat.
Hi to Phyl and CJ. Happy crafting! Ginny

Yes I do offn't know why the same brand of yarn that is supposedly the same weight would be so different.
Ginny the colors that you picked for the table runner are absolutely beautiful!
Ginny, every time I go to the motor vehicle office here and have to wait the short time I have to remind myself of the mostly all day ordeal it was back in NY.Here you can actually do it via mail every other time but you have to have had an eye exam and have the doctor's office fax that info. One year I was able to do that. Most years that ours are due to be renewed is not the year that we've seen our eye doctor. It has to be within six months. I'll have to plan better. Ours renew every four years
I'm not sure what I'm going to do the rest of today but I think maybe I'll load all these bags of things to donate into my car so that next time we go out I can drop them off. I have a lot of bags of books then I also have clothing and household items that need to stop cluttering up my house.

Ruth, think its a great idea to load the car with all the goods to donate, first of all cause it gets rid of the stuff in your house and it makes it easy to drive by your donation spot and drop items off. I like to do it that way....then I am ready to get rid of the stuff anytime. Regarding DMV, it used to be torture and I know that. You can now do a lot and I mean a lot of stuff online without going to visit the cranky and inefficient machine known as DMV. Unfortunately for me I have to renew my drivers license in person because i have a CDL. Here too, as long as you have a valid certificate from a doctor or doctor of optometry indicating that you are at or are corrected to acceptable vision you are ok.
You can search on the internet for different yarns and their compatibility to be used with each other. It's a fairly comprehensive analysis...but I cannot say it was all that useful. I remember finding two different yarns on the same list thinking they would be ok together and they were rather different.
Just got back from Dd's- guess it all went ok.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Meg - I hope the iron infusion helps you soon. I also hope nothing else is wrong.
Ginny - Sounds like you enjoyed your class and the project went together quickly - what color fabrics did you pick out? My sister-in-law makes a lot of table runners using a pattern called "Ten Minute Table Runner". She has several of them for different holidays and seasons. Here's a link to what they look like.
www.animblethimble.com/ten-minute-table-runner-pattern-and-pics.htm
Ruth - I'm glad you have some time to wait to get your DH's license, sounds like it's busy in town right now. Some people in my state can renew their license by mail, but I like to go in and get mine and be done with it.
Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting.
I pieced together the quilt top with the Morningside Farm materials today. It's O.K., but not one of my favorites. I wish I had the energy to work on another one, but that was enough for me today. Maybe I can piece another one together tomorrow.
For those of you that enjoyed seeing those weekly blocks for the Pat Sloan quilt, she's started a new one called Grandma's Kitchen. Here's a link to it with some pictures of one of the blocks (scroll down to the bottom to see pictures):

Take care everyone!

It's a do nothing day for me ... I hope. Perhaps some crocheting and an audio book. It is a little cooler today, in the high 90s.
Ginny, I am glad your class went well. I am sure your table runner is very nice. It' is such fun to learn something new. Thank you for your prayers. Getting old is not for sissies.
Ruth, Sounds like you may have 2 different yarns. I have used a lot of Pound of Love and have not had a problem with them. You have so many projects going I can't keep up with you. I do like to have more than one project and at the moment I just have one. Perhaps I will start a cap or a scarf something easy that I can donate next winter. I will have to renew my license next Dec so I hope my eyes are in better shape then though I do see well enough to drive now.
cj, the green beans sound delicious. Hope all is well with you,
Phyl, Hope you are well.
I will check back later.

I read here earlier but wasn't able to post. Ginny, I agree that a loaded car is much more likely to do the job of delivering these things. Dh never likes a loaded car so he'll spur me on to get rid of the stuff. Luckily our car registration renewals can be done via mail. I wish they would do them online. Ginny, your dd is very blessed to have you, your dh, and the rest of the family to lend a helping hand. CJ, the 10 minute table runner sounds intriguing. I definitely have to look that up and also look at your links. I love looking at the blocks. Meg, I found out that this is actually Pound of Love. The label was in there under some of the would yarn so I don't know why it would be different from one color to another. Having a do nothing day sounds like a great idea esp when you feel so fatigued. Dh mowed the yard today and I went out and cut down and pulled some weeds. We have a few invasive species of plants that grow extremely well here and get very tall in no time so we have to make sure they're controlled. There are still a lot around our pickup truck that we never drive.I need to work on that next.We should really just get rid of the truck. It's very old but we really like it. Came in and had a shower and am still worn out. I can't believe just how short a time I'm able to do things without getting completely worn out.I still am unable to do much activity before my bladder acts up too. Whine, whine, whine

hi, could not get here last night. computer was doing some up dating. we finally had to call tech support get it back to where it was. somehow IE got disabled.
WE did have fun at sit and sew. think we did more jabbering then sewing. there were about 20 of us. I did finish one small project . nita showed me how to make coasters. she takes like clothesline cord (some thing like that) and wraps strips of fabric around it then starts forming a circle and sews it on the machine. she gave me that one. as she says it is time consuming. not sure if I would ever want to try it.
delona and I did our bumin today. breakfast at mac's, the y and then buming.
the bb is done. the small hat is done. one bootie is done. think I will make another pair of booties a little bigger. these are so tiny.
I have caron's strawberry yarn. like bout 8 skeins. was going to make the same blanket only bigger. well I finally decided to put some white and soft green with it. might do the next one in a ripple type crochet pattern I have.
while in kohl's I was getting hungry.so we went to Wendy's. choice between a side salad and a frosty. we went for the small chocolate frosty. aye aye aye smart points it is 17 points plus it is 9. calorie 340 carbs 56 sugars 46 been years since I had one. sure went down good. temperture 93 with a heat index of 109 today.
have a good night. phyl;

Phyl, I made a pair of booties for one of my dgds a few years ago. It said newborn feet are 3 1/2 inches so when I went there when she was born I actually measure her feet and they were 4 inches so I've been measuring all the newborns feet in the family and all have been more than 3 1/2.
Computer is doing weird things. when I try to read or type the page keeps moving up and down

Lots to catch up with!
CJ- what did you do with the fabric for a quilt top- guess I am asking what kind of quilt pattern. Thanks for the reminder on the 10 minute table runner- I have made several and they might take a few minutes more than but they are cute, quick and easy! I figure around 20 minutes each.
Meg, how are you holding up in the heat? You amaze me, you do not complain. I will send you a pic of the table runner...I am happy with how it came out. Feel better....and I will be praying for you.
Phyl- wow you finished a lot of projects in a short amount of time! Sounds like a good day for you indeed. And perhaps that Wendy's frosty was worth it! I think so!
Ruth- another woman who never complains....is your bladder condition improving? I pray so!! It's ok to whine here, you are among friends. (You too Meg!). I like to have the car preloaded....that way I am ready to get rid of the stuff. DH hates having the car preloaded...he thinks its sloppy. But then so is having all this extra stuff around the house!
Got all the hand sewing done on the runner. Tomorrow will get the top stitching done.
Stay cool all Ginny
