Good Morning fellow crafters!
If you have a chance please go back to last weeks thread, both Meg and Ruth posted and I will surely not do justice to their posts.
Meg, welcome back to crafting! Its so great to hear that you are feeling well enough to craft! Sounds as though you have had a busy time, between shopping (glad your family unloaded the car and put the food away) and your health needs. Glad that your house passed "inspection". Its so important to put into our homes those little things that will help us stay safe as we mature.
Ruth, how did the fair isle sweater turn out? I know its so tempting to go yarn shopping online. Honestly, 2 weeks ago when I was in all 3 stores (AC, Michaels and Joanns) I thought that Joanns had the best yarn. AC (who I used to love for their yarn) seemed to have gotten into a new brand of yarn (think its their own) and I was really not impresssed.
Busy day today...I have to go to work to pick up the list of routes I have to choose from- and later a doctors appt with Dd and some shopping.
The Joanns coupons are free shipping ($50 dollar purchase), %60 of all fleece (total purchase) and several %40 or %50 off certain items.
Guess I'd better get into the shower and get ready to start this day. Ginny

Good morning all. It's a new week for us to enjoy. I'm going to enjoy getting started on the deep cleaning that is cleaning cupboard shelves and the oven, fronts and inside of cupboard doors, etc.
Ginny, yes, Joanne's does have a lot of really nice yarns. I could very easily spend the $50 to get the free shipping
The first fair isle sweater turned out great. The second one I used a smaller hook to get a smaller sweater for the other doll and it ended up being too small around the neck portion so I revised it and made it into a cardigan instead of a pull over or button up the back type. I'm not sure which is was supposed to be because the pattern designer didn't show pics of the backs of her items. I thought it was supposed to be a pullover but nowhere in her instructions did she say to join or seam. Of course she didn't say chain and turn either...she just seemed to assume that people would know to do that and a lot of other things. If someone is a new crocheter this pattern is not for them.
So I've found that Cabbage patch kids, although having different size bodies do hall have the sme size heads and around the neck and upper chest. When measuring I didn't measure that part.
So after I get some cleaning done I'll finish the cardigan and make another pullover. I hope to have all the cp kids clothing done this week.
Ginny it does sound like you have a busy day. I hope and will be praying that all goes well at your dh's doctor visit.

Good evening! Ruth making those Cabbage Patch sweaters which drives me nuts. I'm going to those I kind a need to really good directions especially when it comes to crocheting.oh I figured out sooner or later but sometimes it's just too much work. Someone credit to you for figuring out the glitches in the pattern and being able to work around them.
Today was busy but it all worked out pretty well. It was our daughter that I had to take to the doctor. He wants her to go to see another doctor so we've made that appointment for later on in the week. Just something we should get straightened out before she goes back to school.
I did actually begin work on the baby afghan. I'm only on row one and I'm still trying to figure out the pattern a little bit. Once I finish the first 12 I'm gonna start the second now and then without both of ours because I do believe I want to make a little bit bigger. The instructions to not give you much guidance with regards to size. So I just want to see if I got the first well done properly. Start the second row as a check. Then I'll take it all out and make it the size that I really want.
Hi to CJ, Phyl and Meg. Happy Monday! Ginny

Ginny, either I'm really tired or your phone or Ipad or whatever is putting words in for you because what you wrote about working on the baby blanket didn't make sense to me. Maybe I breathed too many oven cleaner fumes. It sounds like you said you're having trouble with the cabbage patch stitch. It takes getting used to. I think the first two rows are the foundation and then you repeat those two.If doing that stitch is driving you crazy maybe you should go with one you're more familiar with but it is fun to learn a new stitch but maybe not when you're trying to make something specific for your new grandbaby.
I worked on the cabbage patch sweater this morning and just need to do the sleeves and I did a pair of pants to go with the cardigan. I've started a little top to go with them both which will be under the cardigan.
I sprayed my oven and it said leave it for two hours so I started on cleaning out my storage cabinet where I keep extra canned goods and paper product Well it definitely needed it and it took me over two hours so then I did all the gymnastics needed to wipe out the oven and the oven cleaner and am now ready to sit but my kitchen looks like a tornado hit it so I probably will straighten that out in a little while then it will be back to crocheting.Dh helped by scraping the inside of the oven window which just made the window look fantastic! Much easier than other methods of getting the gunk off.
I also went out and watered the tomatoes and flowers but then we had two thunderstorms with a lot of rain so I probably didn't need to do that at all.
Ginny, I sure hope and will be praying that whatever the problem your dd has it will be easily taken care of. I thought that earlier you had said it was your dh going to the doctor

Hello everyone. I just lost my post. I am tired it has been a long day and I am sure I will sleep well tonight. I had to take Devin to school this morning. I went out to lunch with a group of friends from church. They meet once a month at a different restaurant. Today the restaurant was just about 5 mins. from where I live. It was nice to get out with friends. Today I had 3 ladies offer to take me to my appointment which is a relief. Some appointments I can drive myself to buyt others like my eye injections I need someone to drive me home.
Tomorrow will be another busy day. I will have my last visit with my nurse. Then later I will have an appt. for my last iron infusion. No time today for crafting and I think I am too tired tonight so I will go to be earlier than usual. I am a night owl and I would like to change that. I am not going to buy any yarn at the sales. That's what got me in trouble in the first place. There will be more yarn and sales when I need it, I am really resisting buying yarn.
Ruth, I am sure those cabbage patch dolls will look adorable when you get them all finished. This has been a big project for you.
Ginny, I hope your DD will be ok and in good health to return to school.
Now I am off to bed. Good night.

Good morning! Ruth my sincere apologies - it was a tired GInny posting last night and an IPAD that seems to think it always knows what I want to say. I just sent the post without a quick proof read...so no you did not inhale too many oven cleaning fumes! Oven cleaning is not anyones favorite job. Neither is pantry cleaning. Isn't that funny- you watered your plants and then the rain showed up. Well the rain just deeply watered your plants, driving in what you watered them with even deeper. So its a good thing....but so funny. Happens to me a lot.
Meg, I am so very happy to hear that your friends are wiling to drive you to your eye appointment. It must have felt so good to get out and do something with friends that was another a doctor appointment.
Gotta go....be back in a little bit Ginny

So sorry, things got hectic here.
Meg, agreed that buying yarn on sale, while really fun, can be dangerous. It seems as though you are going back into a full schedule of activity- especially with the addition of all the medical visits. Hope your last visit with the nurse goes smoothly..and that you get accomplished what needs to be done. Were you able to sleep well last night?
Ok, enough from me for awhile. I actually have 5 hours of the house to myself. Am going to head to the food store- the next few days will be crazy so I have to get that done today. I do also want to get my walk in, which will most likely be the next thing I do. Its a bit cool here, but humid. Not looking forward to fall but will welcome cooler weather. All in all this summer has not been too bad though.
Hi to CJ and Phyl- have a great day! Ginny

Good morning Ginny, CJ, Meg, and Phyl.
It's a nice sunny day here today but cool. This is sure an unusual summer. It's much cooler than it usually is this time of year.
Meg, I'm glad to hear that you found someone to take you to your appointment. It sounds like you have some great friends.
Ginny, no need to apologize. We all have day in which we're just way too tired to check over that we've written. Yes this summer is going way too fast and it sounds like you have some busy days ahead.
Today I have to clean up from cleaning yesterday, make some spaghetti sauce and whatever else comes to mind and start on a couple other cleaning and organizing projects.Ginny, you and CJ have not reached the age yet but it's funny to realize that all our lives we've accumulated things we at least thought we need and now in my old age I'm trying to get rid of things. I had bigger plans for yesterday than time and energy allowed. I still haven't got my pans and kitchen gadgets where I want them to be.In fact I'm not exactly sure where I want them to be until I try them out in those places. Someone on another thread asked " have you ever moved things then realized the things were better where they were before?" Yep, have done that.
I got the little outfit completed for the little cp doll and will continue to work on completing outfits for the others. Friday is going to be my finish it day. I've been weaving in ends as I go along which I find is really a good thing to do but I need to sew on some buttons and Friday will be the day to do all that. I still want to make a little dress for the smallest cpk before I go on to finish the "wardrobe" for the other two. I do have a couple things made for all of them
Ok I'll see you all later.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I'm glad to hear you had a nice lunch out and that several ladies volunteered to take you to your appointment. I'm also glad to hear you are doing some crafting again. Ginny - It's good to hear you've made a start on the afghans and I hope things go well with your DD's appointment. It's humid here too, we got spoiled last week with the nicer weather The recipe from the book I mentioned that I have liked is one for Brownies. I had been wanting a brownie so bad but was afraid to make a big box mix of them. This recipe just made 4 smallish size ones, and I froze 2 of them. They heated up really well from frozen too. Ruth - I bet the Fair Isle sweater is beautiful - I love that pattern. Sounds like you are busy as can be with home things and crafting. The Victoria Sponge cake is a really easy recipe - I'm saying this even though I haven't tried it yet LOL. It only has a few ingredients, so I'm looking forward to baking one and filling it with Strawberry Jam. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. I haven't been doing any crafting, but I did spend time today on Pinterest looking at embroidery designs and some quilting things. I also watched a video on Smocking. So I'm calling that my crafting for the day Take care everyone!

Good evening! I am wide awake, so will hopefully not make too many mistakes posting.
Ruth, indeed, I am in the throwing out stage of my life. I have much to get rid of- and summer, when I do not have to work is the perfect time. Indeed, I cleaned out one small area today....little by little I downsize. I have a very long way to go. Indeed, I think we have all done that, moved something and found out it was better off in the first location. Were you able to reorganize much today? When will you be mailing out all the cabbage patch clothes?
CJ, indeed watching a video on smocking counts as crafting.... so does time on Pinterest. Glad you enjoyed the brownies! Indeed we both were spoiled by the less humid weather. Fall is coming....and we will all be celebrating cooler dryer air.
Going to work on the afghan in a little bit. Got some cleaning done today in my quiet day, and got my coupons organized.
Phyl and Meg, hope your are doing well ginny

Hello, Phyl, cj, Ruth & Ginny, I had another busy day. The visiting nurse paid his last visit this morning and then I went and had my last iron infusion. Then I ecided I really need to have my hair cut. We are having beautiful weather at the moment. The temp. was in the 80s today and there was a nice gentle breeze. When I got home I took a short nap. I did work on my b/blanket for a little while. That's my day do far.
cj, I haven't had a brownie for ages I bet they tasted good.
Phyl, I did get e-mails from Pinterest for awhile and then they stopped. I did enjoy getting their e-mails. I will have to see if I can start the e-mails again. Your browsing Pinterest sounds like a good way to do some crafting. Good way to get ideas for new projects.
Ruth, it was such a relief to find 2 people to take me to my appointments. We have people at church who sign up to help anyone who needs a ride or a meal if someone is sick. I have only had to ask for help once before. I have over the years taken people to doctor appts. or picked them and taken them to church. I guess it is my turn to get help.
Ginny, I know it is important to do some cleaning and throwing away some of the clutter but I hope you will relax before you have to go back to work, Now I am going to listen to my audio book and work on my b/blanket. I am listening to a Danielle steel book and I am not sure how I feel about it. sometimes I enjoy her books and other times I don't care for them,
I wish you all a good evening.

Definitely Meg, it is now your turn to get some help from others.I know it makes them feel good to help so don't worry that you're inconveniencing them or taking advantage or whatever. You've certainly done your share to help.
CJ, yes going to Pinterest and looking at instructions and videos for smocking and quilt things does count. It shows that your mind is on crafting. I looked up a recipe for the Victoria sponge cake. It does look easy. I'm not too fond of the idea of jelly or jam in the middle but I do like whipped cream a lot so I'm thinking cherry pie filling or lemon filling with the whipped cream. Not traditional I don't think but tasty..
Ginny, it sounds as though your next few days are going to be busy ones again. Enjoy the days you have remaining of your summer. Yes time off sure does help in our efforts to declutter and enable others to use the things we no longer need.
I haven't done any crafting since morning as I did a bit of cleaning and decluttering again. I got my lazy susan cleaned off, washed and the shelves refilled. Washed off all the bottles and containers. I also cleaned under it the best I could. I once took the shelves off one to clean under it and couldn't get them back on properly so I'm not doing that again. I stuck my shop vac nozzle under it to get crumbs then washed the floor under it in all the spaces I could reach.I also got my pans that I use all the time where I want them to go but still haven't cleared out the space where I want to put the ones I don't use much and the small appliances. That will be tomorrow.
I hope you all get a good rest tonight and I'll see you all tomorrow

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Meg - Sounds like your medical appointments went well yesterday and I hope you enjoy your new haircut. Your weather sounds nice too. I'm glad you were able to work on your blanket yesterday and hopefully found some time to do that today too.
Ginny - Glad you were able to work on your afghan and get some cleaning done. I used to use a lot of coupons, but now that it's just me here I don't use them as much. It is a great way to save money and plan meals.
Ruth - Putting the pie filling in the Victoria Sponge cake sounds like a great idea too, let me know if you make it. Sounds like you've been busy with cleaning and decluttering - good for you - I sure need to do that too
Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting time.
I haven't done much today, just a few things around the house. It's hot hear again, around 90 and humid and supposed to be that way through the next few days.
Take care everyone!

Good evening!
CJ- seems like this hot weather has taken the starch out of all of us- and completely removed our inspiration to craft. I figure that your time on Pinterest and crafting web sites is just gathering lots of inspiration so that when you get back into crafting mode, you will be full of great ideas. Guess your area is not impacted by the hurricane that is out to sea- just rip currents. Think you are far enough inland for there to be no impact. Hope that cooler weather is on its way to you soon.
Ruth, it appears as though the white tornado has hit you- you are in a real cleaning and decluttering mode! It feels wonderful to get that well reorganized once more- so that you can find things easier and know that the cabinets are clean. Its pretty common for us to hold on to pots and pans that are not used a lot- think I use the same 5 pots and 2 pans all the time. The others could go in another cabinet, it I had the space for one.
Meg, I have only read one Danielle Steel book, it was ok but I decided there were other authors I liked better- and have read none since. I know she is a very popular author and has written many books. It would be nice if this book picked up a bit for you- so that you do not feel like you have wasted time listening to it. Its good to hear that your life is becoming more normal. You sound stronger too- able to get more accomplished and are able to crochet a bit. Remember to rest when you need to. And its just so nice to hear that others will be driving you to the eye doctor appointment. You have blessed others....it is time to allow them to be a blessing to you.
BUsy day. Baby sat....went to the food store....then had my mandatory safety meeting. Will be crocheting in a few minutes. I decided last nite to abandon the cabbage patch afghan, the holes are a little larger than i like for a newborn- (Ruth you had mentioned that might be a concern).and I started on a basic shell afghan. Only on row 1 but I think it will be perfect. Route selection is tomorrow am early and then eye doctor appointments. Another busy day, but I have to get some of this done before the school year starts.
Hi to Phyl- who I hope is getting time in her playpen.
Funny, each of us shows a certain character in our posts.....all good.....you know, some of us are more quiet, some are funnier, some well organized..some super creative. What an interesting group we are!
Have a blessed night Ginny
