Hello Crafters - Hope you are doing well Ginny - It does sound like an interesting wedding, but as you said as long as the bride and groom are happy, that's all that matters. I love weddings and always want to see what the flowers are, what are the colors of the bridesmaids dress, what does the food look like, etc. I watch all those wedding dress shows on TV too. Ruth - You sound like you're rolling along with the gloves and I that is really generous of you to make them, and other things, for donation to those in need. I agree with you that most of the wedding gowns today are strapless and they don't really flatter every body type. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are both O.K. and maybe getting in some crafting. I'm doing well. Today is nice and sunny again, but a bit warmer. I went out and did some grocery shopping. I didn't need much so it was quick. I also walked through Costco and found a few things - one of them a big back of unsalted peanuts. I like to put the peanuts out for the blue jays and squirrels. I stopped during the Summer but I've started back again now that it's getting cooler. Take care everyone!

CJ, well I have a lot of time on my hands and I like crocheting so it's not really generous of me because I do enjoy doing it. We do the same thing only we don't put out peanuts we put our seeds for the birds in the winter and stop for summer. We don't have any squirrels here but in Arkansas we actually stopped putting out seeds because it drew squirrels and squirrels are known for chewing thru electrical wires and we didn't want problems with wiring. Dh said there's other damage they do too but right now I can't think of what he said. Recently while ds and dgd were here I noticed that my watch had fallen off my wrist. I still haven't seen it around so I don't know where it could have fallen off. Luckily it was an inexpensive Casio. We have quite a collection of old watches we had set aside because batteries went dead so this morning on the spur of the moment I got them out and dh managed to pry the backs off and we found that we did have batteries that fit so now I have several functioning watches. I know we have other older watches too but right now I don't know where they are. I reordered batteries to replenish our stock and ordered one size that we didn't have also and a tool for taking off the backs as it's difficult to do with makeshift items. Today I got a delivery of a bunch of things including socks that were marked down that I got for me and the grandaughters. Also a larger inflatable mattress for next time we have company. Bought it now while prices are down as in the spring they anticipate people buying for summer needs and raise the prices back up.Ds and dgs may come in the spring as we told ds that dgs could have our car if he wants it. It was one we got from ds to begin with when dgs was little. Ds bought it when they had only the one child. After they had the third it was too small for them so we traded them for our little van we had at the time. ;It's 17 years old but it has new fuel pump and several other new things and works great. Ds thought that for the price of a one way plane ticket it would be a good buy for dgs. Probably cheaper than buying a used car there that he would have no idea of what works and doesn't work on it.We'll see what he decides. If he doesn't want it we'll probably keep it till it stops running then either donate or send to the junk yard depending on how useful it will be to someone else. CJ, I've never watched the wedding dress shows but I used to watch What Not to Wear. Some of the people on there looked amazing after they were dressed in the right clothings and their make up was done and there were a few that didn't look much better. Speaking of that, I don't know if any of you go out wearing fleece pj's. I see a lot of overweight people going out shopping wearing those. I guess they're just more comfortable. Recently though I saw one of my favorite cashiers at one of our grocery stores actually shopping with her dh is that store wearing fleece Eeyore pj sleep pants. She's thin. Yesterday even to go to the mailbox I changed out of my fleece Eeyore pants even though I never run into anyone.I could never bring myself to go shopping while wearing pj's but as in everything, different people have different ideas. I also think that obese people should think again before wearing leggings. They need to go on What Not to Wear

Hello everyone, I have had a couple of busy days. Yesterday I did some errands and got s hair cut. Now that it is cooler I don't mind doing errands. It was so hot all summer I just wanted to stay home. It was chilly this morning but it will reach the low 80s this afternoon. This morning I had an appt. to arrange to have cataract surgery on my right eye. They are putting me on the list for cancellations so I might not have to wait so long. So I came home with all the eye drops. I was also able to get some other paper work taken care of while I was there. There was a huge line of people waiting for flu shots. Some of the senior care homes bring their residents in buses for their flu shots. I had my flu shot last week at the other Kaiser clinic where my reg. DR. is and I didn't have to wait. So now I am home.
Ginny, Sorry the wedding was disorganized but I am sure you enjoyed seeing everyone and hope you had a good time.
Ruth, The mittens sound very nice and I am sure they will love the colors. I have not started another pair of slipper boots for Devin and I need to do that and also start a pair for my Russian friend. She gave me some yarn but there is not enough and I really wanted to us my own yarn and as you know I have lots of yarn that I would be glad to use. I have not been crafting for a few days. I am just trying to get myself organized. I am glad you have found a place in your community where you can donate. I believe in donating my b/blankets in my own community rather than mailing them somewhere. I am sure the church will be glad of anything you can donate to them.
Phyl, sorry you are missing out on your bumming this week. I hope your friends surgery goes well.
I wish you all a great afternoon and evening.
cj, I agree with you I will never go shopping in my PJs. Women have been doing that for some time but I think they are too lazy to change. When I drive Devin to school in the morning I am dressed but I may have my slippers on. But I don't get out of the car.

Ginny, I have been trying to keep up with posts on two pages. I am glad your niece looked great. I agree a natural hair does looks better. What do people do with the brides maids dresses after the wedding? My 2 DGDs have been bridesmaids and have dresses sit in the closet and I don't think they ever wore them again. Just seems like people spend a lot of money on them. Anyway I hope you had a great time and it was probably good for you to get away for the weekend.

Meg, I agree. There are always local people that are in need so why ship things somehwere else.
Slippers don't count. Wearing them is not the same as wearing pajamas. I doubt people see you when you drop Devin off at school but what if you had to stop somewhere else unexpectedly. You wouldn't want to be seen in pj's.
I was only a bride's maid once over 50 years ago. Luckily the dress didn't cost a huge amount of money because, as you said, I didn't ever wear it again. Now I would probably use the fabric in the dress for something else but back then I didn't think of it. It also had a huge crinoline underneath. Do you remember those things?
Ok I'm going to stop procrastinating. I did my bills for the months and need to get back to crocheting. I don't really feel that it's something I'm forced to do but I do keep putting off starting.

Good evening! Meg, good to see you stop in. Bet that hair cut felt good- between the weather and your week in the hospital I think its been a while since you were able to get your hair done. Glad you got your flu shot- and I hope that you can get in early for the other cataract to be done. Did they give you an appointment anyway?
CJ- its fun to feed the squirrels and blue jays- they are lively critters that keep things busy outside and are fun to watch. Glad you are doing well- hope your weather cools down a bit soon!
Ruth, nice to have several watches that work....I have the same issue in that I do not buy expensive watches and then you end up in a predicament when they need a new battery. Glad you were able to get a deal on an inflatable mattress, I never would have thought that they go on sale, but your logic sure is good..
Long day, and I am tired. Back to this wedding. The bride and groom paid for the whole thing- and if I say anything negative I will sound like an ungrateful monster. the place was very pretty, but the food was not all that good, and there was hardly enough to feed the amount of people there. I did not like the bridesmaid dresses at all- they were a dark burgundy, but I wonder if my niece went with that color to accommodate her bridesmaids. My nieces gown had a small cap sleeve, and so it was not sleeveless. It was a pretty enough gown- but her veil and hair did not match the dress- in my opinion. But who cares, as long as she was happy with it.
No I would never go to the store in pjs. I have worn slippers to the store but the slippers I wore were actually moccasins- so I do not count them as true slippers. Hope everyone has a good evening. Phyl, hope you are doing well.
Ginny

hi, I Got the upstairs In order. had I started early in the am I would have been done by noon. nope kept doing things in between. like being on the pc.
when theresa and jim had their 50th the sisters all saved their bridesmaid dresses and they had them hanging up. course late 50's dresses were alot cheaper then they are now.
I could not wear pj's out in public. it would have to be a real emergency like on the way to er I agree it is just being lazy on a lot of people's part. don would not walk beside me if I did. I do not find fleece that warm In a winter state. some people do. even with a sweatshirt and fleece jacket I am not warm. winter time I need my winter coat.
I would never wear leggings either. some short people can. our margie is 4"11'' and she can wear almost anything and look good. she know s how to carry it off I don't. I also don't like the tunic length for short people. at least me. I feel dumpy in long stuff. below the waist or maybe almost to the top of the hips is fine with me. any longer uh-uh. course it depends on the garment.
I also
we get what not to wear on the tlc at 5 am. Clinton now has his own line of women's clothing and is on qvc. I will have to google stacy London and see what she is up to. wouldn't it be nice if they did a alumin show? been interesting to see if the gals kept up with what they land.
one show I miss can't think of his name. he has project runaway. don't care for that show. his show before was he worked with his models and they would take a women and teach her how to dress. they would measure her and take her out shopping. phyl

Phyl, I wouldn't be caught dead in leggings. I also don't wear tunics I'm short too but not as short as your friend. I'm 5'2", I also don't wear capris. They look good on some people but on some they look really terrible and/ or are not at all flattering. My ddil looks good in them but she's tall and fairly slim. I actually know some heavy people who look good in them too but I just don't have legs that look good in capris.
No I don't think my dh would leave the house with me or let me leave the house wearing pj's and I also agree with you on the fact that most fleece items I've seen and worn are not all that warm. I, too, have to have a nice warm winter coat. Here people take pride in the fact that they don't dress appropriately for the weather. In other words they don't wear coats when they should. I don't care to be uncomfortable so I dress in warm things or take warm things with me in case it gets cold. Oh and the woman that was shopping in her eeyore's...her husband was with her.We do live in a neighborhood where the houses are far apart and usually there's no one around so we do sometimes run out to take out the garbage or put out the bird seeds in our pj's but that's it. No one ever sees us.

Good afternoon!
Well, I iwill wear capris but no longer wear shorts. And I prefer not to go sleeveless- overall, I like to keep myself pretty well covered up- and have for quite awhile. I will wear PJ's to get the paper in or take out the garbage, but that is in the early am, like 5 am.
Hot here today- we are in for a warm weekend. Yuck.
Phyl , I enjoy What not to Wear also- i suspect that most of their alumni slide back into old habits a bit...
Ruth, hard to believe that the woman in her eeyores was with her husband. I do not want to know what he looked like!!
Hope that tonight is sane.....we have DS and Dd coming home tomorrow. And baby sitting tomorrow. I need a sane night this evening. Meg and CJ- hope your day goes well Ginny

Oh I don't wear sleeveless either. I haven't for years except inside my house when it's very hot when no one but dh sees me. I didn't really look at the cashier's dh. From what I remember of my quick glimpse he was dressed as any other man here. Ginny, I do hope you have a very calm and restful evening. Yes you need some "me" time. It did get up to 70 yesterday but I didn't even set foot outside. My plan to walk has bit the dust and soon winter will be here and no outside walking. Leslie will have company I'm trying to decide what to do now. My dh just went for his nap so I could get some things done up here in the main living area. Maybe more work on my craft room. It's where I store out of season clothes and I may as well get out the winter things and put the summer ones away and get that done with. I may have some bags to fill with the ones I know I'm not going to use again. Or I could just work on my baby blanket or the little sweater I want to make or even some more mittens. Dh saw the two color ones lying on the couch and asked if I bought them. He really liked them except for the fact they were mittens not gloves but he thought I did a great job. The two colors really look nice together.I'll definitely be making many more. I do have to get started on my Christmas things too. Long list but it keeps me busy. Meg used to say that needlework kept her from mindlessly eating but it never did for me so now I'm trying to substitute crocheting for snacking when I don't really need to eat but am just doing it from habit. CJ, Meg, Phyl, all of you have a great day too. Phyl how is Delona's hubby doing

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ruth - I don't worry about the squirrels too much since I only see a few. It's the pidgeons that drive me crazy - I sure wish I could get rid of those. That's one reason I stopped putting out seed this Summer - just so they wouldn't hang around. I'm glad you were able to get a watch to wear, hope you find the other one. I never used to spend much on watches since I was rough on them. Now I wear my FitBit and use that as a watch. That would be nice if you could give you DGS the car, hope that works out.
Ginny - Hope your weather doesn't get too hot and humid. That's what we're supposed to have for the next few days and then we'll get some rain. It hasn't rained in awhile. Hope you do have a sane, quiet evening to rest up for tomorrow!
Meg - I hope they can get you scheduled for your surgery soon, it's nice they have you on the waiting list for cancellations. I'm sure you're anxious to have it all over with so you can heal up and see better.
Phyl - Glad you have gotten some cleaning and organizing done.
I'm another one that wouldn't wear PJs out in public. I won't go out of the house if I'm not in "real clothes". I don't like clothes that are tight fitting either, even after I've lost the weight.
As much as I enjoy weddings, I've never had one and never gotten to be a bridesmaid either - kind of ironic LOL.
I went out to get my mail today and my neighbor's mail was pushed in the box with mine. I looked over at their house and their mailbox was gone. I saw that it was crushed up and they had put it near their front door. I'm irritated that the mailman put the mail in my box. It's not my responsibility to give them their mail, he should have taken it back to the post office if they didn't have a mail box to put it in.
This neighbor doesn't talk to me and the last time I waved over to her she ignored me, so I don't really feel like taking her mail to her. But I'm worried if I don't and leave it in my box, my mailman might not put my mail in there tomorrow. And I'm also worried he'll keep putting it in my box until she fixes hers. (I worry about things like this a lot because I don't live in the best area.) So I guess I'll have to watch for her to come home and take the mail over to her. Stuff like this causes me anxiety. I know it's a little thing, but sometimes those are the ones that do it.
Take care everyone!

Ok I did a little in my craft room but not all that much. Still I found the yarn I want to use for my dgd's sweater. I'm still undecided about whether I want to organize or just sit and crochet but I'm thinking maybe organize. It will be good to get rid of some of this stuff that isn't useful anymore or doesn't fit anymore. I know dh is going to be concerned about me getting rid of more but sometimes I just feel like I need more open space and less "stuff". He always thinks I'm going to gain weight back and need the larger clothing so I have to make sure that doesn't happen. I seem to wear just the same things over and over so why have 50 shirts when you wear the same 6 or so over and over.I'm glad I lost weight and am down to 4 pairs of jeans although they're a little loose. I've been thinking of going to GW and the thrift store here in town that also has very nice hardly used clothing but I may just wait. I also have some better pants and skirts I can wear even if they are a little big so we'll see.I also organized my yarn a little also. Now to get busy and use some more of it up. Here's the link to the sweater in case you want to see what it looks like. I think the dgd's will like it so I may have to make one for the other two younger ones www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW5795-Tea-Party-Cardigan-Free-Crochet-Patterns.pdfCJ, I'm looking forward to seeing sites you post for the things you're working on. Ginny, how's the baby blanket coming along? I saw my antique white in there and it reminded me of your blanket. One of these days I'll use mine Meg, I hope you're having a good day too. I don't remember if you said you had appointments today or not.

I'm really blabbing today so probably most of my posts will be missed because there are so many of them. I'm still going thru the closet. I went thru the hanging things both in the closet and on the back of the door.Went thru one basket also. Some were summer things I'm putting away but most are things I'm donating. It's a shame that I wasted so much money buying things I never wore. Most have tags still on them but all are too large so GW is getting some good things. I guess the money isn't really wasted since someone else will be able to use it but I wish I had a place where I could just donate the things and people would get it all free. Even the rescue mission here doesn't take things. They have you give it to their store where it's sold and the money is used for the mission. Sounds like a dumb plan to me but maybe they don't have space for donated things at the actual mission. There is the women's shelter but it's clear on the other side of town and not easy to get to.
Ok back to sorting

hi, that mailman should be taking that mail to her house. you can call and complain to the post office. you do and he doesn't give you your mail call again. it is his job to deliver it.
I have gone out in my pjs with a robe over them. usually at night to look at a special moon. tonight is the harvest moon. not sure we will see it. been cloudy and we have had some rain. looks like it might be clearing up now.
today I had the cortisone injection. wasn't bad all. I could watch him o nthe computer. he was funny. asked me if I WANTED RUSTY NEEDLE OR A NICE NEW SHINNY ONE. he also asked me where did I live and did I live in one of those big high houses. nope our house is 3 bedroom ranch. he said that's what he has and likes. likes to keep things simple. have a good night. phyl

CJ, when I was in Arkansas the mailman put my neighbors mail in my box I took it to her and it almost seemed like she was upset with me and not the mailman. She didn't have a mailbox and had signed up for a PO box at the postoffice but these were checks and she had told the bank she wanted her actual address printed on them but wanted them sent to her PO Box. They sent them to her home instead which is how I got them. Later she actually became a friend so she probably wasn't upset with me at all and it just came out seeming like that. It seems like your neighbor might be a bit of a grouch. Things like that cause me anxiety too. I have anxiety today because I have to go out tomorrow but I'm getting a little better with that I think. I hope you can get the while mail thing straightened out. I don't think the mailmen are supposed to put people's mail in another person's box.I wouldn't like the responsibility of having someone's mail in my box all the time.
Phyl, I think a lot of people go out to take out garbage or get the mail or newspaper in pj's and a robe and I don't see why wearing pjs and a robe would be a problem if you want to look at the moon or stars or whatever. I hope the cortisone shot helps. I do wonder why they don't ever do that for my dh. I'll have to ask next time we're there.I see a lot of people getting various treatments that have never been offered to him and I don't know why. I'm going to have to see what he wants and speak for him because he doesn't really speak for himself. He just wants to get out fast and only goes because he needs medication for his various medical conditions and sometimes they won't renew if you don't come to see them often enough.I only go because I want to have a doctor available if and when I get sick but of course that didn't really work for me when I had the IC flareup but at least I was able to see a doctor even if it was not my own. Nowdays though a person can go to a urgent care but that doesn't help in situations like my dh where someone has chronic illness.
I got four very large bags filled with things to donate. I went thru everything in that room. Now have to do the closet downstairs. There's not much of mine in there but I'm sure that anything that is in there is too large so it's going in yet another bag.
I still haven't started the sweater nor have I worked on the baby blanket. I'll do that soon. I did find the yarn I want to use for the sweater though so I'm a little bit started I guess.
