Good mornng!
Ruth - bet the pics of Dggs smearing cake all over himself are adorable. What a great age....kids are so cute and precious, If the rice bags are for heat wraps to comfort sore body parts, old cotton socks work great. We have an odd sock of dh's (white cotton) that we filled with rice and indeed, it microwaves beautifully and works like a charm. Congrats on cleaning out another closet.....and getting rid of a lot of stuff. Guess you will add these items to the bags you have ready for GW? Did you get back to work on the sweater?
Meg, the booties are so cute....wish the pattern was to crochet as I might give them a try. Not that I have time.....but its still nice to dream. Hope you can get to church today.

We went out to dinner with Dd and DSIL last night, a pleasant enough evening- the restaurant was very nice. By the time we got home I had to straighten up my own kitchen (I had cooked here for DS and DD) so no crafting for me. We are in for the remains of Tropical storm Nate today and tomorrow, Guess CJ will see some of that also. Hope that perhaps I can crochet a bit today.
Gonna get ready for church. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Yes, we are supposed to get some rain today, tomorrow and later in the week. It's still warm and muggy. I can't wait for the cool 70 degree weather to come back! We had a nice time at the quilt show yesterday. It was a smaller show, but they had some beautiful quilts. I'm always in awe of the work that some quilters put into their quilts. Also their ability to pick fabrics that go so well together. I bought a few things at the guild table, but fortunately didn't spend too much money. It was a long day of driving for me - probably about 5 hours total, so I was really tired last night. I bought fabrics for a Ten Minute Table Runner from one of the vendors and put that together this morning, it's a quick pattern and only uses 2 pieces of fabric, here's a link to the pattern and a YouTube: www.animblethimble.com/ten-minute-table-runner-pattern-and-pics.htmwww.youtube.com/watch?v=_Cn18Qd59_0I also found quite a few smocking items, so someone must have been clearing out their supplies. They were offered at a really low price so I bought all of them so I can practice my smocking - whenever I get to that again I'm also working on a quick strip quilt, but I'm finding it a bit boring, so I keep taking breaks. I want to get this top done though so I can focus on some other projects that I think I'll enjoy more. Take care everyone!

CJ, that table runner is beautiful and it seems like something I could do. I may have to try it. The fabric and colors that they person on the stie chose are just wonderful. Mine wouldn't be that nice because I don't know where I'd get that fabric but I'd like to try it. The smocking you mentioned...is that the same as the smocking they used to put on little dresses? I've always loved smoking and wished I knew how to do it. I already have enough things to do as far as crafting goes so that will go by the wayside for me
You both are talking about rain and tails of hurricanes...well here they said snow today starting about 4. Well I hae news for them, it's already snowing.Later in the week it will get a little warmer again for awhile. I do hate seeing winter come but it's better than living in an area where there's a lot of heat and humidity.
Ginny, yes the pictures are so cute.Dgd made him a cake with frosting with blue letters and blue decorations so he ended up blue all over...a little smurf.
I've been working on the sweater today. If I paid more attention it would come along better but luckily I found out what I was doing pretty quickly so got back on track. I think my evening will be spent in the "winter quarters" working on the seater and blanket

I went to church this morning. I hasn't been for ages. It is very windy today. Temp about 75 this afternoon. I will be going to a BBQ next door, some of my new neighbors should be there so it will be nice to meet them. I am going to take a veggie tray which I still have to make.
Ruth, the slippers are very easy to make and you can use up leftover yarn to make them more colorful. There was page on the web site showing different color combinations. Can't find it again. Some times I use a larger needle than what it says in the pattern. Makes knitting them easier.

Ginny I am sorry the bootie pattern isn't a crochet pattern. But there are lots of crochet patterns for booties on the net.. They do keep your feet warm in bed. I have to go and make my veggie tray. I will try and check in later.
You all, have a good evening.

Meg, after I finish the sweater and baby blanket I'm going to start these slippers. I'll at least do a little each day in between the things I have to get done. Thanks for posting.
Ginny.as Meg said, they have some really nice crochet slipper patterns. I've never made any so don't know how easy or hard they would be or how long they would take.
It's snowing really hard here. Ground is all covered but I don't know that it's cold enough for it to stay long. Supposedly we're to get 1-3 inches so we'll see what happens. Luckily I don't have to go anywhere and tomorrow is a holiday so not many others will either. Ginny, is it a school holiday there so that you get a day off?
CJ, I meant to say too that sometimes we work on a project just because we should and as you said, it can be very boring. I like to get those kinds of projects out of the way too.

Good evening,
CJ- so glad you were able to get to the quilt show and enjoy being there. Some quilters really do have a great eye for pattern and color- with incredible results/. I was thinking of you this evening....I was looking through a Craftsy catalog- they were selling DVD's on different sewing/crafting techniques. I saw several on how to quilt with your home machine- the DVDs are $25- and are well rated. I wonder if you would be able to learn from them.
Meg, Glad you got to church today! How was the barbecue- and were you able to get to know your new neighbors. Hope that they are nice and easy to live near.
Yes, Ruth we have "off" for tomorrow....but with all the abuse poor Christopher Columbus has been through recently, I wonder if it will still be a holiday next year! Glad you got some time to work on the sweater.
I have made several of those 10 minute table runners. THey take a little more then 10 minutes, I would guess more like 20- but are crazy easy and come out well. Make great gifts too.
So from looking at the Craftsy catalog I got some crafting time in.! I have hit a road block on the baby afghan now too.....and might abandon what I am doing for another pattern. Dd is having a sono at the end of the month when we will find out if its a boy or girl.
Have a good night G

Ginny, even 20 minutes would be great. When you made yours did you put batting in them. I saw on the site that it gave that as one of the choices.I agree that they would be great gifts.
I'm sorry to hear that you hit a roadblock on your baby afgan. Wish we lived closer. We would probably be able to give each other hints when one of us hits a roadblock. Sometimes you just need another person to look at it. Sometimes we just can't see something we do know such as which stitch to go into. I hit that one often and at Caps for Kids some of the people there that were experienced knitters or crocheters would all of a sudden have that experience of having a "brain spasm" and not knowing which stitch is the "next" stitch or whatever the pattern says or having a second when you forget how to do a certain thing.
Does your dd and sil have a preference this time since they already have a boy and a girl?
Meg, I've been meaning to say that you sure got Devin's slipper boots made fast. You must be a fast knitter. Knitting seems to go so slow for me. A few years back I made a while bunch of knit hats and they seemed to go fast enough but lately my knitting goes really slow which is just one of the reasons I usually stick to crocheting but in slippers I don't like the feel on the bottoms of my feet walking on crochet stitches.
