Good afternoon!
Meg- you have mentioned that Devin is easy to live with- so one more day with him home probably should not bother you a bit. I do think there is another service called Spotify- both it and Pandora are free (although with Pandora you will hear an occasional promotional). But they are both non stop music, and you get to select what you want to listen to. The Nook will "keep' the station too- so if you like instrumental hymns or whatever you can go back to it. For me, it was a God send- and those wonderful quiet hymns got me through a very difficult period. Hope you are not getting flooded..... And that you have a good day.
Ruth- prayers will be said for Dh- who as you know, really should be seen by a doctor, I hope he is ok...and is feeling fine today. Hope you do not get flooded either! Warmer temps must feel nice though. I was reasonably happy with the football results. I do miss football when the Super Bowl is over with.
busy day- babysitting now- DGS just went in for his nap- DGD is at preschool.
It was a rip roaring 8 degrees this am, with a pretty hefty wind chill too!! Hard to believe that it is going to go into the 50's in a few days.
Hi to CJ and Phyl and all who join us today! Ginny

Hello Crafters Meg - Hope the rain lets up soon there. Also hope you get your days and nights back on track again. The dream interpreter would tell me to quit looking at so many quilt books Ruth - I'll keep your husband in my thoughts and prayers, maybe he will consider going to the doctor now. I'm glad you didn't have to go out at night, I won't do that either unless it's an emergency. Ginny - thanks for the offer of the Irish Chain pattern. I have several of them and a few books with them too, so I think I'm good. I forgot to answer your question about my sewing themed fabric. Several pieces have words on them - quilt patterns like Churn Dash, Dresden Plate, Nine-Patch, etc. The others have pictures of sewing notions on them - thread, needles, scissors, rotary cutters, pin cushions, etc. All but one of the fabrics have a light tan background, the other one has a darker brown background. So they go well together but I'll have to pull out some of the colors in them to add as accents. I'm sure I'll find a pattern to use them with. I did get one more candy cane embroidered last night, so I was happy I did something. I only have 4 to go and I'd really like to get them done this week, so I could get working on some other handwork soon. I'm finding my problem is that by the time I finally sit down on the couch to relax it's almost 8:00 P.M. at night and I just don't feel like stitching then. I need to make a little time during the day to work on them. It's still cold here today in the 20s, but supposed to get up to 60 degrees later this week! Take care everyone.

Thank you. Ladies for the well wishes and prayers for dh. His palpitations or whatever they were didn't last too much longer after I posted and then his heart rate was still a little high but regular. I had taken his bp and o2 sat and both were ok. He's mentioned this happening to his doctor but she doesn't seem to be too concerned. When I had this same thing happening about four years ago the doctor I was seeing at the time said as long as I didn't pass out because of it, then it's fine. I don't think I believe that. Cardiology was never my area of expertise and I don't know much about it at all but we will tell her about this episode when he sees her again.
Ginny it's way warmer here than there. We're having the Jan thaw I guess because it was over 40 today and snow was melting but the wind was horrible. It's calmed down now and isn't bad.
I did a lot of cooking and cleaning today so haven't got to any crafting yet. CJ, same here, I don't get to it till late then I don't feel like doing it but I do want to finish the items for dgds so I'll work on that this evening.
Dgs was going to come over and bring dggs but I didn't see his message until too late. It's really too cold in my house for a 4 month old though anyway.

Good evening!
CJ- it's a certainty that you will find some good fabrics to pull out colors....you sound like a person who has a good eye for color and pattern! This sure sounds like an interesting quilt- do you have any plans for it when it's done? My weather is similar to yours- just a little colder. Bet 60's will feel wonderful and will get rid of any snow. I too am usually too tired at 8 pm to start crafting....
Ruth- so glad to hear that DH is doing ok. But I do not blame you for wanting answers and getting him checked out anyway. Thanks for letting us know he is ok.
Just as a general offer to anyone, I have directions for both double and single Irish chain that are insanely easy- and do a very very good job of explaining how to make either. (My first quilt was a double Irish chain that I made with no help- these directions are that good).
If anyone wants a copy, I would be happy to send them to you.....
Gonna crochet a little. Feel like I am getting a cold.....
Blessed night all. Ginny

hi girls, I think our social life will settle down some now. busy weekend. today theresa called and we met them for lunch. they had some business in town, theresa and I exchanged Christmas gifts . they wanted to get back home before the snow got to bad. didn't start snowing till a little after they left. we only got a little bit. they are suppose to get 3 inches. it is a 75 mile trip one way sounds like tomorrow is the big mess coming..
I still haven't made it to my sewing room. maybe tomorrow.
I had several row on the cable scarf done. then one row just didn't look right. tried to take it out even with the thread going through the loops. didn't work so frogged it. rib it rib it.so I now have it started again. how many times do we pick up a project when we are tried, of or not in the mood and then things just don't go right? will wee ever learn? probably not.
ruth glad dh is doing better today. just keep an eye on him. sometimes men won't say anything.I don't have a problem with don.when he is sick just leave him alone. something like your dh don would let me know.
the sewing fabric sounds interesting. have a good night. phyl

Yes that sewing and quilting theme fabric does sound very nice. I can't wait till I can go to Hobby Lobby and check on fabric there and also that chenille I saw online on the self binding baby blanket youtube.
Ginny, if that Irish chain is as easy as you say I would love a copy. Just let me know if you need my email or real address. I really appreciate you offering. I want to make a quilt and need all the help I can get.

good morning!
Kiddies are coming again today....which I did not really expect, so I will have to be brief.
Phyl- glad you are making progress on the scarf. (I just had the same thing, had to rip out a few rows of an afghan). Hope that you can go forward and make good progress.
Ruth- yeppers, the Irish chain is easy! It's work- and a lot of work, but these directions are simple to follow. You should read through them 2 or 3 times before you take it on- the first read through is overwhelming, but if you follow the directions step by step.....and just trust that they are right (and they are) it all makes sense. Let me know what size quilt.....baby, twin, full, King/Queen. I have paper copy of the directions and would have to either scan and send them to you that way or snail mail.
Got a few rows done on the afghan. BBL Ginny

Ginny, I would do only the baby size quilt for now... It wall probably take years before I can graduate to a larger one. If you want to send my snail mail I'll send you my address in email and no hurry of course. I will study it for awhile then go and buy the fabric.Thank you

Hello everyone, It is another very wet day and I did go out this morning on a quick trip to Janet's care home. Also mailed a letter so now I am home.
I did do some knitting last evening and I am almost at the 1/2 waypoint of my b/blanket. I wpuld like to start another project probably crochet a b/blanket just for a change of pace. I like to switch back and forth between projects when I get bored. I have lost interest in the audio book I was listening to so I will probably start another one.
Ginny, I hope you can get a little rest while the DG/ kids are with you. Little ones tire you put pretty fast. Devin went off to school today and it is very quiet around here not that he makes a lot of noise I just know he is here. I haven't checked out Pandora yet.
Phyl, I hope you don't get too much snow so that you can get out when you want to. If I try to work on a project when I am tired I fall asleep over it. I am feeling sleepy at the moment so I had better have a nap before I get busy with my knitting.
Ruth, I hope your DH is feeling better and has had no more attacks. I missed your post when you first mentioned he was having a problem. He is lucky his wife is a nurse.
Hi cj, hope all is well with you.
I will check back later. Have a great day.

hi, I am taking a break from knitting. between winter (with gloves 0n) and knitting my hands were getting really dry. been doing the lotion thing a few times a day and they are better.
was In my sewing room working on a quilt block for the quilds challenage quilt. ok I went by the picture thinking this will be on point. huh-huh she says put it together like courthouse steps. I have never done courthouse steps block .tried to follow youtube and found it boring. so will have to get mary jo over. I could go through my many, many mags and find a pattern on how to do it.
Theresa gave me a a religious coloring book as part of my Christmas present. I got one page colored last night. probably will work on one tonight.
we have had snow yesterday, ground froze overnight. today is was snow ,rain, and more snow.
areas around us were closing schools not our town. had a email and part of the y was closing. one quilt shop close early.don says they probably didn't have any business.
Theresa just called she liked what I gave her. she said they go 5-6 inches of snow. now it is blowing and drifting. jim is outside blowing snow.
have a good night. phyl

I ventured out this morning to go to a church function and found a several emergency vehicles at the corner. I live in a rural area and a young girl was killed when her truck slid into a squad car on the way to an emergency. Common sense should have made me turn around and go home but I managed to find a route around the accident and got to my meeting. We all headed back home again as soon as the meeting was over instead of our usual quilting session. So sad that a young life ends so soon.

Gail - that is so sad, and tragic when someone so young loses their life I'm glad you made it home safely.
Ginny - Glad you got some crocheting done and hope you enjoyed the children. I also hope you don't get that cold - take care.
Ruth - Hope you enjoyed your cooking yesterday and that your weather is better today.
Meg - Glad you got some knitting done. I'm like you, I have to have several projects going at once, because I get bored doing the same thing.
Phyl - I've never tried the Courthouse Steps block either, hope you were able to get some help with it. Also hope your weather gets better.
I went through my scraps today. A few years back I had thrown out all the too small ones and separated the rest into categories - squares/rectangles, triangles, strips, and larger pieces (but smaller than a fat quarter). I had a bag of scraps from my projects this I did this past year so I went through that and organized all of them again.
I found that there are some colors I have barely any scraps for - yellow, browns/blacks, and a few others I only had a few scraps. So I don't think I'll do the RSC Challenge, since I don't want to get into my fat quarters to do it. I'm kind of glad I really don't have that many scraps, it seemed like I had more.
I did find some groupings of scraps that I could use to make a few small quilts, so I put them aside and might add them to my project list. I also had lots of strips, so I might try to make some more of those Half Log Cabin blocks, I really enjoyed making that one last week.
It's probably better if I just stick to my Slow Stitch Sunday, 182 Solstice Block on Wednesdays, and Finish It Fridays. I'll be lucky if I can keep those up to date. I know I sound very organized, but that's only in parts of my life. There are other parts of my life that are a mess
Take care everyone

Good evening!
Gail, that is such a sad story about that young woman-a reminder of how precious life is. Glad you are ok and were still able to attend your meeting.
Phyl- well courthouse steps were under consideration for my next quilt- I do not think its too tough to make with good directions. Enjoy your coloring! What a nice way to relax when you are taking a break from knitting.
Meg, congrats on being half done with the baby blanket! Do you have another book to replace the one that was not so good? I am sure the house felt quiet today with Devin back to school.
Ruth- in the next few days I will see how many pages I have to send to you- and figure out the best way to do that. THe pattern is in with my other quilting/crafting books- easy to get my hands on. As I mentioned, read the pattern directions a few times- expect to be confused BUT if you follow her directions it's pretty amazing how well the quilt comes out! The author does not use the traditional method of binding and backing the quilt- she uses a shortcut/easier method- but it still turns out really well. And only a quilting snob would care otherwise....
What a long day. Got a few more rows on the afghan done. It's coming out well....
Hope CJ is having a good day. Ginny

Meg, well I sure hope it doesn't get TOO wet where you are.
CJ, you do sound very organized.
Ginny, no I don't care that she doesn't use the "snob" way of doing the binding and backing. I'm just happy that I might actually be able to make something that even looks like a quilt.
Phyl, these people you mentioned...are they family or friends
