We seriously already had a few people in tears and I didn't want to upset anyone else! Oh no! Everyone at my meeting seemed really excited about it - if anyone was upset they didn't say anything (and no tears). The leader did a really good job selling it though so that may be why. But they got really hung up on small details, like what qualified as a blue dot day, whether you had to eat a certain # of daily points now, and whether websites like EmilyBites and Skinnytaste were updated yet. The questions were not what I expected them to be.

wildcat, the people upset the most (and one of the ones in tears) were diabetics. I am not too knowledgeable about diabetes but they were frustrated at losing some of their daily points because the things that are now free, like beans, are things they can't eat much of.

The questions were not what I expected them to be. I normally go to the Friday noon meeting, but had to go to the Monday night meeting this week. Same leader, but boy are they a wild bunch in the Mon night meeting! It was nice! They were all so very excited as well!!! Not too many questions, the leader explained pretty much everything well, and was detailed and gave reasons behind the changes, according to how corporate said the reasons are. So everyone was pretty satisfied and happy with what they heard. Only one question I remember, was a member asking about losing points, I guess they were there before their WI day. And when that was explained, she was ok as well.

jayell13, I get that. My mom does WW and is diabetic, and her attitude was basically that the only thing that has changed for her is chicken and yogurt (she doesn't eat seafood, doesn't like eggs very much, and seriously limits beans, fruit, and starchy vegetables because of the carbs). However, she's generally negative about WW so I take everything she says with a grain of salt.

I think many rotisserie are injected with a sodium sugar water solution and other things. Perhaps that is another reason for it not being zero. I buy a rotisserie chicken at Kroger that's under their "Simple Truth" brand that's only injected with water. No sugar, starch, etc. It's about a $1 more than the other rotisserie chicken. I take the skin off it before eating.
I cook chicken at home bone-in (for flavor) and with skin on (for moisture), and remove the skin before eating.

About deli chicken and turkey: my leader said that store roasted or roasted chicken/turkey were zero points but the others that were "pressed" were not.

Butbutbut...I actually stood there in the luncheon meats section looking foolish scanning turkey and chicken packages and found some that were zero points for a reasonable serving of 2 or 3 oz. I believe I also found one that was zero points for 2 or 3 oz. of ham. So one has to check for bargains just as before.

^___^ Rene, I stared at that cute photo for a minute or two thinking I was looking at a pale Kermit before it struck me that it was a Chicken. I think I need more coffee or something.

She even asked - Aren't you excited about this new plan? - and got mostly silence.

susan092907,As the years go by I hear more and more of a corporate-speak tone in my leader's voice and words. They are selling us something and not everyone is buying it. Sometimes the constant positive marketing speak gets to me. Since I'm a maintainer I'm just trying to fit my eating into the new program so the points mean something to me so I can judge how I'm doing. I'm not real certain about doing the extra intuitive eating although I do rely on it some already.

why are people so angsty about the new plan? to me it sounds great and extremely flexible. not that WW plans aren't always somewhat flexible, but this one way more so.
if they are having an issue with the newly granted zero point foods, maybe they should just invest in a food scale and weigh a portion and call it a day.

finreporter, the people who were the most upset at my meeting were fixated on their daily points dropping to 23 and just not seeing how they could make that work, even with many of their normal foods dropping to zero points. Others were complaining that additional zero points foods didn't really help them because they either don't like fish or beans or yogurt, etc. I do think the majority were willing to give it a try and I personally am loving it so far!

Yeah, I can definitely see being anxious about the points drop. I personally was wanting a change because what I was doing wasn't working at all. But if SP was working great for you and now your points drop by 7, this change is not necessarily going to thrill you.
